Managed mouse setting not applying on clients

Hi,
I am trying to add right-click functionality on the mac clients in a couple of my schools.
I have added the .plist file to the Workgroup Manager Preferences pane for the groups as always managed.
When I log on as a user and open Mouse Preferences the right side is set to secondary button (as I want it to be), but the mouse will not right-click.  If I check in System Profiler under Managed Preferences, it shows up correctly also.
The only way it will right-click is if I go into Mouse Preferences and manually select secondary button.
Any suggestions?

Can the servers get the other policies from MP?

  • 2008 R2: Authorization Manager Permissions do not apply

    I used authorization manager to modify the initialstore.xml.
    I created a new role definition to allow techs to manage vms.  Start, Stop, Reconfigure VMs.  All View Options. and some more.
    I created a new role assignment and added the the technician ad group
    I closed the file.
    Hyperv manager still shows you do not have required permission. contact the admin of the auth policy.
    Am I missing a permission that they need or is the policy not applying to Hyper-v.  The changes persist when I close and repopen the xml file.
    We do use failover cluster and scvmm for this hyperv instance, if that matters.

    It does matter if you use SCVMM.
    SCVMM replaces the default authorization manager store with its own.  (there was a bug at one time that the over-rode any modifications you made)
    The SCVMM team runs with the concept that if you are using SCVMM, then you are doing all of your actions in SCVMM and SCVMM is thus vetting the permissions.
    Also, most folks use HVRemote to set AuthMan properly.

  • Group policy Preference - Internet Option setting not applying

    Hi,
    I’m not very sure if any of you have encounter this strange issue when
    configuring GPP -> Internet option setting for window 7 IE9 or IE11.
    The following
    are spec of OS and IE version used in my environment.
    Window Server
    2012 R2 (IE 10)
    Window 7 (IE9
    and IE11)
    Recently I
    have deployed proxy setting via GPP as I do not have IEM under my GPMC console.
    Once the setting is been configured and deployed, I have notice that the GPO do
    not apply after the user login. The following scenarios is what we observed.
    1) User boot up the machine, Login and proxy setting will not applied
    1a) gpupdate /force -> Proxy Settings applied
    1b) setting will be removed after the GPO refreshed
    2) User boot up the machine, Login and proxy setting will not apply
    2a) User logoff and login proxy setting applied.
    2b) Setting will be removed after the GPO refreshed
    Kindy advise
    if there is any solution to ensure that the setting apply whenever the user
    login and stay intact even after the gpo refreshed by itself.

    Hi,
    >>1a) gpupdate /force -> Proxy Settings applied
    >>1b) setting will be removed after the GPO refreshed
    Based on the description, we can run command gpresult/h report.html to collect group policy result reports to compare how the settings are being applied.
    Besides, have we installed the following hotfix on the computers with IE 9? If not, we can try to install the hotfix.
    Internet Explorer Group Policy Preferences do not apply to Internet Explorer 9 in a Windows Server 2008 R2 domain environment

  • SCCM 2012 R2/MDT 2012 - Deploying Windows 7 UDI CustomSetting.ini setting not applying

    I am using an MDT UDI task sequence to deploy Windows 7. The task 'Apply Operating System Image' has the answer file package and unattend.xml file in the correct location.
    Within the CustomSetting.ini I have the setting SkipProductKey=YES but, during the deployment it stops on the product key page.
    We do not need to input a key since we are using KMS. I did not have this issue in 2007 although I did not use a UDI task sequence. I'm sure I am missing something or it's not using the CustomSetting.ini for some reason or another.

  • New Proxy Setting Not Applying

    We are applying a 2 part proxy GPO the computer part is applying but not the user part. We have unlinked and deleted the old policy from the OU but for some reason the old policy is still applying in the user policy. The only difference between the two
    policy is the proxy info and the cert.

  • "Make proxy settings per-machine (rather than per user)" Group Policy setting not applied until login as a local Administrator

    We want to deploy to all our desktop the pac file to configure proxy. We have a Windows 2008 R2 server, and i've enabled the GPO "Make proxy settings per-machine (rather than per user)", and i've add a registry key AutoConfigURL in "HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current
    Version\Internet Settings" with the pac file link.
    I've tested on my pc, and all was configured without any problem. I've try to login to my computer with another user (without admin rights) and the automatic configuration proxy was compiled and not modificable. It's seems that all works.
    But, our users are not local admin, so i've tried to deploy the GPO in a collegue computer. I've forced the update of GPO, checked on registry that all new keys are added, and i've reboot the pc. When i've check on IE settings, autoconfig URL was empty and
    grey. I'm disconnected from user and i've login to the pc with a local admin. With my surprise, the IE settings was compiled. When i'm come bac to the user profile the IE settings was compiled and not modificable.
    The problem is: i've over 750 users in 3 countries, and i don't want grant them the local admin permissions. How can i configure proxy settings via GPO without login to every machine at least one time?

    > have a Windows 2008 R2 server, and i've enabled the GPO "Make proxy

    In the past, we experienced various issues with machine proxy settings,
    so we don't use them anymore. The simple approach:
    Block access to the connections page through ADM template settings and
    deploy the proxy through GPP Internet Settings.
    This is what we do (with a pac file, too), and it works well :)

  • [solved][laptop-mode-tools] hard drive power settings not applied

    I've used the laptop-mode-tools now for quite some time. However, recently the power management settings are not applied anymore. Possibly since updating to systemd...
    My laptop-mode.conf looks as follows:
    CONTROL_HD_POWERMGMT=1
    # Power management for HD (hdparm -B values)
    BATT_HD_POWERMGMT=254
    LM_AC_HD_POWERMGMT=254
    NOLM_AC_HD_POWERMGMT=254
    However, even after doing a systemctl restart laptop-mode-tools.service I always get
    $ sudo hdparm -B /dev/sda
    /dev/sda:
    APM_level = 96
    Setting it manually works:
    $ sudo hdparm -B 254 /dev/sda
    /dev/sda:
    setting Advanced Power Management level to 0xfe (254)
    APM_level = 254
    $ sudo hdparm -B /dev/sda
    /dev/sda:
    APM_level = 254
    Of course, the settings are lost upon rebooting in this case.
    Any idea where the problem could be?

    I apologize if it is bad style to answer to a post marked as [solved] but:
    Same problem here!
    HDParm-settings are not applied on boot by LMT.
    laptop-mode.conf:
    # Should laptop mode tools control the hard drive power management settings?
    # Set to 0 to disable
    CONTROL_HD_POWERMGMT="auto"
    # Power management for HD (hdparm -B values)
    BATT_HD_POWERMGMT=100
    LM_AC_HD_POWERMGMT=200
    NOLM_AC_HD_POWERMGMT=254
    # hdparm -B /dev/sda
    /dev/sda:
    APM_level = 96
    Any ideas or solutions on this so far?
    And why is this post marked as 'solved'?
    edit:
    1.) manual set hdparm-settings survive reboot but not suspend!
    2.) no difference between CONTROL_HD_POWERMGMT="auto" or "1"
    3.)
    # systemctl status laptop-mode
    laptop-mode.service - Laptop Mode Tools

    Process: 664 ExecStart=/usr/sbin/laptop_mode init auto (code=exited, status=0/SUCCESS)
    4.) pointed out that this seems to be a bug: https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/33262 as systemd does not restore apm values on wake up.

  • Default Domain Policy Not Applying Settings to Servers or Clients

    I have 2008 R2 DC's with a functioning level of 2003.  Our domain servers are a mix of 2003, 2008, 2008 R2, and 2012 and our clients are a mix of Windows 7 Pro and Windows 8.1 Pro.
    I recently made a change to the Default Domain Policy located at Computer Configuration -> Policies -> Windows Settings -> Security Settings -> Local Policies -> Security Options
    For the Security Policy setting called: Network security: Configure encryption types allowed for Kerberos
    The change was to enable DES because of a specific need that I have with an application that I work with but enabling DES and leaving the other options such AES unselected caused other applications to not work right.  I decided to revert the changes
    back to "Not Defined" but those changes did not reflect on the servers even after running the gpupdate /force command.
    In order to keep the application working that broke, we enabled all of the encryption levels such as DES, AES, etc. on the server that's running the application via it's Local Security Policy as a temporary fix.
    Now, I want to make sure all servers receive the settings from the Default Domain Policy and have their Local Security Policies reflect the "Not Defined" setting but it's not applying.  It seems like they worked when I first applied them but
    when I try to remove them it does not work.
    If I change the setting directly on the Local Security Policy on the server or clients it shows "No minimum" instead of "Not Defined" which I've heard can be fixed by identifying the registry entry for that setting and deleting it...so
    help with the location and how to identify that key would also be helpful.
    My goal is not to manually have to change servers and clients to revert back to their default settings...I want the Domain policy to apply and override the servers and client's Local Security Policy.
    Any help with this would be greatly appreciated and thank you in advance.

    For the Security Policy setting called: Network security: Configure encryption types allowed for Kerberos
    refer:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj852180(v=ws.10).aspx
    We needed to implement a similar scenario a few years ago (when we introduced Windows7 into our estate).
    We had an SAP/NetWeaver implementation which always worked on WinXP, but failed on Win7.
    We had to enable the DES ciphers, since those were disabled by default in Win7. We discovered that we also needed to enable all the other ciphers (those which are enabled by default[not configured]).
    i.e., when we changed the setting from "Not Configured", enabled DES, and left the RC4/AES stuff untouched by us, the RC4/AES stuff attracted a status of disabled.
    So, we had to set the DES ciphers to Enabled, and, also set the RC4/AES ciphers to Enabled - this gave us the "resultant" enablement of the default stuff and the needed change/addition of DES.
    When you set a GP setting "back to Not Configured", depending upon the setting *AND* the individual Windows feature itself - one of two things will happen:
    a) the feature will "revert" to default behaviour
    b) the feature will retain the current configured behaviour but becomes un-managed
    In classic Group Policy terms, condition (b) above is often referred to as "tattooing", i.e., the last GP setting remains in effect even though GPMC/RSOP/etc does not reveal that to be the case.
    (This is also a really good example of not doing this sort of stuff in the DDP. It could have borked your whole domain :)
    What I'd suggest, is that you re-enable your ciphers for KRB settings again - this time, enable all the ciphers that would normally be "default", let that replicate around, and allow time for domain members to action it.
    Then, set the setting back to Not Configured. This way, the "last" settings issued by GP will be those you want to remain as the "legacy".
    Note: the GP settings reference s/sheet, has this to say:
    Network security: Configure encryption types allowed for Kerberos
    This policy setting allows you to set the encryption types that Kerberos is allowed to use.
    If not selected, the encryption type will not be allowed. This setting may affect compatibility with client computers or services and applications. Multiple selections are permitted.
    This policy is supported on at least Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2.

  • AppV 5.0 SP2 HF4 - Registry not applying when set via DynamicConfig.xml

    I have an AppV 5.0 package of VMWare and have tweaked the dynamicconfig.xml file to add a registry key.  I am applying the package with the AppV 5.0 management and publishing server globally.  This is what my dynamicconfig.xml looks like, pulled
    from the C:\ProgramData\Microsoft... folder (my apologies if it doesn't format well, it does validate):
    <?xml version="1.0"?>
    <DeploymentConfiguration PackageId="7817a78f-feed-4070-8be5-

    </DeploymentConfiguration>
    I left in the example Foo registry just to see if it works.  When I launch vSphere I do not get all the drop downs in the "RecentConnection" keys, opening the AppV 5 package in cmd.exe with the /appvve switch and opening regedit shows the
    registry keys with the sequenced application, but not the registry keys in the dynamic config.xml.  I should also note I'm trying to replace existing keys that already have the "RecentConnection" that are in the manifest.xml.  So I'm not
    sure if "Include" is "Replace" and errors out if those keys already exist...?  I don't see any errors in the event log.  I'm not sure of any other way that the event log reports if dynamicconfig.xml is being applied.
    Lastly, this is what my get-appvclientconfiguration looks like:

  • Managed proxy settings not being applied

    I am currently having an issue with a certain managed preferences set in Workgroup manager.
    Essentially, all machine preferences are applied by the clients (energy saver and such), except for network proxy settings and bypass domains.
    Preferences are set on machine groups which my clients are members of, but the same happens if I set the same managed preferences on user accounts, also.
    In each test I have done, an 'mcxquery' shows that the client has received the preferences, along with all the other settings I've applied and each time all of the preferences have applied except for the network proxy! Both the clients and the server have been re-installed from scratch, but the problem still persists.
    Has anyone ever encountered anything similar? Does anyone have any suggestions on how I might get this working again?

    Hi all,
    I'm having exactly the same issue : most of the managed preferences being applied except proxy
    I've checked with mcxquery : proxy settings are broadcasted, and I find the correct settings in the file /Library/Managed Preferences for the user, but when I check in Preferences/Network/Proxy, nothing appears ...
    Any idea ?
    Thanks,
    PhC.

  • Profile Manager 3.1.2 home sync setting being ignored on client

    Hey,
    We currently have all of our Mac clients successfully home syncing with Server 2.2.2 and WGM but we would like to upgrade to the latest version and finally move over to Profile Manager.
    I am currently trying to test Server 3.1.2 on a closed network with a couple of test clients.
    Everything seems to be working as expected and all deployment settings are being correctly set on each client.
    However the one thing that refuses to work on the client is the Home Sync settings that have been deployed.
    I have Home Sync set to sync at logout and manually only.
    On the client i can clearly see that the variable "syncBackgroundSetAtLogout" is set to "sync" within the com.apple.homeSync.plist file. However when I logout on either client I get no sync happening at all.
    Manually syncing works fine but I need this logout sync setting to work as I do not wish to have to go to each client on our network and manually set the settings from the "mobile settings" pane in preferences.
    Has anyone else come across this with 3.1.2 and maybe overcome it?
    Thanks, Justin

    Figured it out. I think it's just my interpretation of the sync settings that was the problem. For some reason you have to manage settings that you don't want managed and specify not to manage them. (?!)

  • Managed folder policy will not apply to entire database

    Exch2007 sp3
    I have run several versions of this pshell command trying to set a MRM policy for a specific Exch2007 database, but the policy is not getting applied…..the mailboxes don’t show the policy
    Get-Mailbox -domaincontroller DC.domain.com | Where{$_.Database -eq "mail\sg1\private information store"} | Set-Mailbox -ManagedFolderMailboxPolicy "90day"
    When I run this version, it  returns info about a corrupted mailbox.
    If this mailbox is what is stopping the cmd from completing, is there a parameter to skip bad mailboxes?
     Thanks!

    Hi,
    What's the error/warning of that corrupted mailbox? Since it’s a corrupted mailbox, I suggest to disable this mailbox then run command to apply managed folder mailbox policy.
    In addition, just set the policy on DB isn’t enough to see the effects in user’s Outlook. To do this we need to schedule the managed folder assistant to run on a mailbox server
    For EMC:
    “Server Configuration”->”Mailbox”->locate related mailbox role and right-click it->choose “Properties”
    In the “Messaging Records Management” tab->set the running schedule
    For EMS:
    Start-ManagedFolderAssistant

  • UDI wizard is not applying TimeZone setting (MDT2013)

    Hi All,
    I am working on MDT2013 to create Windows7-64bit Image for OEM vendor. Note:- I am not using any SQL database.
    I have customized the UDIWizard_Config.xml where it should ask for UIlanguage, Inputlocale and Timezone. I am calling this UDI wizard xml in Tasksequence after gathering locally here the problem is after completing the build its not applying the Timezone
    setting in image.
    Any one aware about this issue? why UDI wizard is not applying the Timezone setting in image?
    I have attached the below UDI wizard XML. please answer and ask if you require any more details..

  • Request set not getting picked up by concurrent manager.

    Hi All
    We have an issue today where the daily scheduled request set did not run and status for which remained at "Pending Scheduled". Concurrent Manager did not pick up this and status remained:
    This request is waiting to be processed by the Conflict Resolution Manager.
    This request cannot yet begin execution because other requests may conflict with it. The Conflict Resolution Manager will determine when this request may begin execution.
    User <user_ name> submitted this request on 06-MAR-2011 23:17:33.
    No action required. This is a normal condition.
    This request may have to wait on one or more of the following requests to complete before it can begin execution:
    I checked all the 'incompatibilities" of the programs for request set and none of them were running.
    We did the below, but no success:
    1. Restarted the concurret manager
    2. Cancelled the scheduled run and submitted request set again.
    Still the status remained at "Pending Scheduled" with above message.
    When we tried to run the individaul programs for that request set it all worked fine. So I would like to know what could be the issue and how to overcome this. I think the issue could be with request set as the individual program is working fine.
    Any pointers will be highly appriciated.
    Many Thanks,
    -Shashank

    which manager is Processing that request.. if it is Custom manager Then U should excllude this concurrent program from the concurrent manager.
    otherwise both the Standard manager or custom manager both are not going to pickup the process..
    he
    Please Check The Cocnurrent Manager which is going to process and check wether its included in the respective manager.
    Thanks
