Managed server fails
I created Admin servers and Managed servers in two machines and control on the
Managed servers are done by Admin servers.
MachineA admin server controls 2 Managed servers in MachineB
MachineB admin server controls 2 Managed servers in MachineA
When I try to start the ManagedServer2 (Which is in Machine B) which points to
the Admin server of MachineA, it gives the following error.

After seeing this exception, I changed the system password inside the startDeploySL2.sh
and start again, Now it gives this exception.

I can't speak to Nodemanager since I don't use (or haven't used) it. I
didn't have problems of setting up the cluster by having the admin and one
of the managed on one box, then copied the config.xml to the second one and
start up the second managed. For the most part, the initial config.xml can
be setup through the console. If you continue to have password problems, I
would simplify the process by having the same password on both WLS'.

soa Version: 10.1.3.4
I created application server successfully, but when i try to create integration server from jdev I got the error as bpel process manager server failed. I checked my DB is up, as some blog says hw_services should be up(i made it up), but still I couldn't create the integration server!!
What could be the other issues?

When you are making the Integration server connection in Jdev, in step 2 use port 80, it is by default 8080, this worked for me before, give it a try.

Managed Server failed to start(oim_server1 and soa_server1) in weblogic
Hi All,
Following upgrade guide is getting followed for OIM version upgrade from 9.1.0.2 to 11g.

After performing step '13.8 Task 6: Start the WebLogic Administration Server'
Following steps were done
1. Started weblogic administrator server
E:\Oracle_11g\middleware_home\user_projects\domains\base_domain\bin>startWebLogic.cmd
2. Opened the weblogic console (http://localhost:7001/console/login/LoginForm.jsp)
3. Assigning listen address (IP address of server) to both server OIM_SERVER1 and SOA_SERVER1.
4. Created two clusters OIM_CLUSTER and SOA_CLUSTER
5. Added AdminServer and OIM_SERVER1 to cluster OIM_CLUSTER
6. Added soa_server1 to cluster SOA_CLUSTER
7. Created machine with hostname of server
8. Added all the server to newly created machine
9. Started node manager with following command
E:\Oracle_11g\middleware_home\wlserver_10.3\server\bin>startNodeManager.cmd
10. checked node manager status, it is reachable.
Now when I am going for starting OIM_SERVER1, it is getting failed and state is showing Admin.
When I am going to start soa_server1, it is getting failed.Nishith,

I am trying to start Manage server in Oracle Web Logic 10.3.5 but it fails showing the below message. Node manager is successfully up but still it fails. note i am using the second created domain the first domain also exist, is there any conflict with the previous one kindly help me to sort out this problem.Below are the details.

Managed server failed during start
I am trying to start my Managed instance ( located on a box different from Admin) but I do not know why its getting failed.
However one more instance running fine which exists on the same box and using the same node manager.

I compared the classpath of the MS1 ( Running fine on Machine1, on the same box Admin is also running fine. ) and MS2. They are exactly same and we are passing the same start up argument.
But when I am trying to start the MS2 through admin console its throwing the same error.

Can you note that the it was fine when deployment was done to admin server.
I am not sure whether i have set up the managed server instance in the proper way. This is what i did to set up managed server instance before deployment
(1) create weblogic domain
(2) create managed server listening at port 8001. (admin is at 7001)
(3) created machine and in the node manager added the managed server to the machine just created.
(4) started node manager through script, started admin server and started managed server by
startManagedWebLogic.cmd managedserver admin_url
=> No errors so far. but now when i try to deploy portal application to managed server instance, it fails.
Any pointers???
(ps : can a moderator help me to move this message to the portal forum instead of here..thanx)

Oracle Management Server fails to start on Solaris 8
I'm trying to start OMS for oracle9i on a Solaris 8 machine. I type the following command to start OMS;
oemctl start oms
OMS then tries to start and after a minute it times out saying look at file $ORACLE_HOME/sysman/log/oms.nohup. When I do this I see the following output;

SCOM2012 Installing new management server failed
When trying to install a new SCOM2012 management server in an existing SCOM environment the setup fails. In the error log is the line: "DB operations failed with SQL error 15247: User does not have permission to perform this action." But the account

Has your action account added as a local admin in the Second SCOM server where you tried to deploy your second management server ?
Also is the SQL Server located in the same domain or is it located in a different domain ?
Check if you have given the User account from where you are installing and the action account the Sysadmin permissions and the login permissions as in my below screenshot ?

Management console fails connecting to Management server.
I have installed Oracle 9.2 on Red Hat Advanced Server V2.1.
Also installed Management server and client software on the system.
Started everything up: oemctl start oms, agentctl start agent, apachectl start...
Run Manager Console on Linux machine (i.e. locally)
Runs successfully - connecting stand-alone
Runs successfully - connecting to management sever
Installed client software on a Windows NT PC.
Runs successfully - connecting stand-alone
FAILS - connecting to Management server
On another NT PC, try running web interface to Management server
FAILS - Same error as when using thick client.
Failure is the same in both cases: The exception (java.lang.NullPointerException) occured.
Failure of both of these suggested a server issue...
Don't know where to find management server logs?
Looking at $ORACLE_HOME/Apache/Apache/logs/error_log seems unable to find files, e.g.:

I have tried reinstalling Oracle website, however this made no difference.Can you ping the server which is running OEM from the client NT machine?
Are you trying to connect using DNS or IP?

Server failed to run - Reason:Server is not in the majority cluster partition
Hi,
my environment is Weblogic 12.1.2.
The deployment configuration is: cluster, 2 machines, 2 managed servers, 1 data source, and JMS (with uniform distributed queue).
When I'm starting the admin server + managed server on the first machine (using the node manager), while on the second machine the managed server and also the node manager are not running, the server failed to run and the error reason is : "Server is not in the majority cluster partition".
How can I enforce the server to run even if the second one is not running ? This scenario could occured because of some local problems on the second machine. My expectation is that after the second will running the whole cluster status will be good.

Just to remember the configuration: 2 managed servers configured as cluster that should be deployed on 2 different machine.
Following summary of the tests:
- node manager + admin server + 1 managed server running on the first machine --> server failed to init with error "Server is not in the majority cluster partition"
- node manager + admin server + 2 managed servers running on the one machine --> servers are running without errors
- node manager + admin server + 1 managed server running on the first machine / node manager runs on the second machine --> server on the first machine runs without errors without the famous error ' Server is not in the majority cluster partition'.
Bottom line, seems that if the node manager is not running on the remote machine, the cluster is not in a stable state and so the single managed server failed to initialize.
Is it according the documentation / expectations ?

Configure Managed Server from Admin Console - Java arguments
Hi There;
I am configuring a managed server from the admin console and the one item that me up is when I add the following into the Arguments sections:
-Djava.protocol.handler.pkgs=oracle.mds.net.protocol'|'oracle.fabric.common.classloaderurl.handler'|'oracle.fabric.common.uddiurl.handler'|'oracle.bpm.io.fs.protocol.
Note The command line script used double quotes (") but the console gave an error - Arguments may not contain '"' This sounded reasonable so I switched the double quotes to single quotes.
Switching to single quotes allowed me to bypass the error.
The managed server fails when I start it from the console:
Error message:
oracle.fabric.common.classloaderurl.handler ' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.- it is like it ignores the values after the single quotes and fials.
How can I configure this parameter?
note: I am running weblogic 10.3.6 on widows 2008. it is a SOA Managed Server I am trying to setup to run from the Admin Console.
JTry leaving out the quotes
-Djava.protocol.handler.pkgs=oracle.mds.net.protocol|oracle.fabric.common.classloaderurl.handler|oracle.fabric.common.uddiurl.handler|oracle.bpm.io.fs.protocol

In a JUnit test, I tried to look up a Session EJB from a remote managed server:

I'm able to connect to the the Admin server... In this case I receive a javax.naming.NameNotFoundException, obviously, since the remote EJB is only targetted on the managed server and not on the admin.
This is confirmed by following little test on the command line:
java -cp %WL_HOME%\server\lib\weblogic.jar weblogic.Admin -url t3://server1.ux.yucom.es:1700 -username <user> -password <pwd> PING

Are you able to Remotely Access any Simple Web Application deployed on "server1.ux.yucom.es:1751".
Example: http://server1.ux.yucom.es:1751/TestApp/index.jsp
If NOT: Means Some where there is a problem with the Port...Just for testing Try Changin Manged Server port to Default HTTP Port (80).
If Yes: Then there are chances that Your Box is not allowing any t3-Protocol Traffic on 1751 Port. Just for Testing Enable HTTP Tunneling on this Server from Admin Console
AdminConsole --> Home-->Summary Of Servers --->ManagedServer1 ---> Protocol (Tab) ---> HTTP (SubTab) --->Enable Tunneling (Check This Check Box) Save the changes.
And then After restarting your Server ... Try to ping your Server using:
java -cp %WL_HOME%\server\lib\weblogic.jar weblogic.Admin -url http://server1.ux.yucom.es:1751 -username <user> -password <pwd> PING
In the Above command Use HTTP protocol instead of T3. If Now u are able to Ping the Server means Your Port 1751 was not allowing any other Protocol except HTTP.

a web app to the managed server fails, works fine on the Admin server.

SCSM 2010 to 2012 Management server upgrade failed
I upgrading my scsm 2010 to 2012 both Management and DW server.
So i have set up the secondary lab environment and do this.
The DW server has been upgraded successfully to 2012.

We ran into this as well. One of two options:
1.) Just run a repair on the SQL Server installation
2.) Repair the WMI settings on the SQL Server as descibed here:
