Managed users and import problems

Hi there
I'm having all kinds of issues with managed users on OSX... and the latest really takes the cake. A managed user trying to import a file is told they cannot. It's an MOV file, and imports just fine under a standard account. They have full access to the file. iMovie also always asks for an administrator password to access a couple of supporting libraries.
Anyone experience the same? Any way to solve this?

They can download and install applications in their own user area.
However, if you have "Only allow selected applications" ticked for their profile in Parental Controls, they will not be able to run the application unless you authorize it. You can enter your password when the application prompts you (and either "allow once" or "always allow", which effectively adds it to the list of allowed applications), or, once it appears in your Parental Controls panel, tick it there to allow its use.

Manage Users and -groups

Hi all,
I try to manage Users and -groups not with workspace administration but by HTML_UTIL. So I need to display all of the Usergroups and select mor than one group for a user and insert/edit this groups for the user.
How can I select mor than 1 item from a LOV? and use it with HTML_UTIL.CREATE_USER and HTML_UTIL.EDIT_USER

Not sure if this is what you're asking, but certainly, one of the things you'd need to do is write your own PL/SQL procedure that loops through the selected rows of your UI element (whether it be a multi-select list, checkboxes or whatever) and perform the actions that you require.
Have you attempted anything yet? What parts of this do you need help with?

I wonder if anyone knows a good tutorial/blog with reference to security - howto Manage Users and Permissions.
In my application I have GROUPS and each group has access to different RECORDS and CASES.
Example:
Groups: Alfa, Beta, Gamma
Record: R1, R2, R3...
Case: C100, C200, C300
Group Alfa can view: R1, R2 and C300
Group Beta can view: R1, R3, C200, C100, C300,
Group Gamma can view: R3
My question is this: what should be the best way (design-pattern?) to force a policy to securing the Records/Cases?
What should every case/record implemented to verify that a user (part of a group) has the right to access the entity.

Export and import problems

i have 2 major problems importing my application from htmldb.oracle.com to my serevr at home.
1.
i export my application and thems from htmldb.oracle.com.
when i opened the sql export file i saw that all hebrew chracters was "jibrish".
how can i export my application with hebrew fonts ?
2. i tried to export and import xml data (my tables data).
the export xml file showing me the hewbrew data but when i import it to my tables it gets ????????? instead of hebrew.
i think it's the nls lang but i don't know what nls land i need and where to change it
(database ,enviroment....)
can someone help me with this problems ?

I have two options that may work for you. First, define the fields that have Hebrew characters using the CHAR qualifier. Example, varchar2(30 char). That allows you to store double byte characters from other languages, and overrides the nls_length_semantics (byte default) parameter.
Or, you could set the nls_length_semantics to default to char. It definitely uses more space when the char qualifier is used, so it's probably best to override the byte default only when necessary.

Manage users and groups on 10.5 client like 10.5 server?

can anyone recommend software for managing local users and groups on 10.5 client? we only need filesharing and don't need the added expense of OS X Server.

oh, right. we can add users with the File Sharing pref pane and can add groups under the Accounts pref pane.
i'm assisting a friend reconfigure a 'server' (os x client box) that was damaged.
i'd like to create a new group and then add a handful of users to that group for filesharing. these users don't really need to access the mac for local login.
they are using Windows Vista from the clients and the way it's set up now, if a user connects and modifies/creates a file, no one else can then modify the file. we have to run chmod on the file/directory for everyone to be able to change it. i'd like to configure it so the permissions work correctly without having to do this.

Export and import problem

hi i am having a test database 9i(9.2.0.1) on windows xp.i want to export a table from test database to development database which is 9i(9.2.0.6) on IBM AIX 5.2. till now i am able to export and import but suddenly i am getting 'TABLESPACE <tablespace name? doesn't exist' error.

tablespace TESTTBS doesn't exist in the database where your are importing.
Either create tablespace in target database or
use show=y option while importing to get table structure and create manually in target database then import and give ignore=y.

Big Trouble! Manually manage music and videos problem

Alright, so I've just checked the Manually manage music and videos box. But now when I uncheck it, it says that all my existing content on the iphone will be replaced with the content on my iTunes library. The thing is, I just clean out my entire itunes library so if i uncheck it, all my music will be gone. Help please.

Why?! Where is your backup?
New empty library or did you clean out the existing one? If the latter then steps 1 & 4 aren't really necessary.
You should be able to:
Backup the device.
Transfer your purchases into your authorized library.
Recover any other media using third party tools as suggested in this post from forum regular Zevoneer
Restore the device from the backup. This process should switch the association of the device to the new library, preserving the data and settings in your apps.
May also be prudent to attempt a backup to iCloud directly from the device before you start... Settings > iCloud > Storage & Backup > iCloud Backup > On. It won't save any media but it would preserve the general account settings and documents in case anything goes wrong while you are trying to extract your other data.
When you get it all fixed, make a backup!

Encore CS3 - Hangs and import problems with menus and avi footage with audio tracks present.

I'm trying to import some footage files in .avi format into Encore CS3 and am having several problems.
In what follows when I say "crash" I mean Encore quits with a standard Windows error. When I say "hang" I mean Encore does not quit but rather becomes an unresponsive process that must be killed manually using Windows Task Manager.
My System:
WinXP Pro SP2
2.93 GHz Intel Celeron CPU - single core
Intel PERL mobo
3GB 400MHz RAM
NVidia 7800GS video
I mention these specs however I am not experiencing any hardware
related bugs or issues (like out of memory or video driver crashes
etc) when using any CS3 app.
The footage files (as reported by GSpot) and problems I am seeing. In all cases GSpot reports that I have the appropriate codec installed:

Attempting to import as timeline causes Encore CS3 to hang.
Importing as an Asset allows it to import but when I try to click

audio. I tried converting this one using AVS to both MPEG3 and DivX,
each using MPEG1-Layer3 44kHz 192kb/s audio, and got the same issue
upon importing into Encore CS3. I also loaded it into Camtasia
Studio and it looked fine over there. The audio was present and I
was able to export it as a .WAV file. When I tried looking at the
file in Soundbooth CS3, there was no audio track or, more
accurately, the audio track was a flat line.
By way of comparison these are importing perfectly:

Although this one imported & transcoded correctly, when I went to
build it to a DVD image file I got some strange errors during the
"planning video" stage that prevented the process from completing.
Unfortunately I neglected to write down the error message I recieved
which read like quite nonsensical babble to me, and I have since
deleted the project folder. I remember it was not a memory or
display related error and it included a timestamp where the error
was happening. I played the footage in the preview panel thru the
identified timestamp but it previewed perfectly without even a
jitter in either the video or audio. Took forever to transcode so I
doubt I'll be doing this one again anytime soon.
Another issue I am having is with the motion menus. I burned a DVD and it does not load correctly in one of my DVD players (a Sony rdr-gx330 recorder/player). It appears to take extra time to recognize the disk, the startup (first-play) menu does not show automatically, and I must press the Main Menu button on the remote control to make it appear. Other than that it seems to play ok in that player. Also tested it in 2 other DVD players (a Panasonic and Zenith) and it worked just fine like it's supposed to in them. Also plays perfectly in my computer's DVD player/burner using Windows Media Player v10. I tried burning to Memorex +RW single-layer single-sided disks at 6, 7, & 8Mbps project settings but got the exact same result every time.
Encore CS3 crashes fairly often during authoring, particularly during imports, and when I go to edit things like calling up a timeline in the timeline panel, dragging footage into an existing timeline, or changing button links in a menu etc.. I have also experienced seemingly random hangs even more often, probably 5 or 6 times as often as a crash. Saving the project after every little change I make, then closing and restarting Encore allows me to make progress albeit at a significantly reduced workflow rate. Accessing Photoshop from Encore appears to be working flawlessly so far aside from the slow load times. Encore hangs sometimes during video transcoding, repeat the process and it works ok. If I try to import a menu from the library after importing my footage files, Encore hangs trying to import it either at the 50% mark or the 99% mark (it varies even with the same exact menu selected from the library). If I import the menu first and the footage after, then no problems. Also trying to render motion menus after importing footage causes Encore to hang, render before footage import and everything works ok. Interestingly enough, previewing my project in Encore's monitor or preview panels works perfectly even in High quality mode -- in fact it operates quite smoothly in comparison to other apps I have tried. Although those footage files that had missing audio tracks on import obviously played silently, I have yet to experience a hang or crash during a preview or when scrubbing through a timeline in the monitor panel.
The last problem I've seen is with the project cache files. It doesn't always get rid of cache files when stuff is deleted from the project. I was working on one project and surprisingly ran out of disk space. When I tracked it down I found that there were some two dozen copies of a footage file I had repeatedly imported and deleted from the project still sitting in the cache folder. The file was an avi about 2GB so it was taking up some 40 GB of disk space for stuff that was no longer in the project. I tried shutting down Encore and manually deleting all the cache files, and that worked for most of them, but there was one 2GB file that kept reappearing in the cache folder even though it was no longer in the project. The XML file in the cache folder still had references to it in there so I can only assume that was the reason it kept showing up. I eventually had to delete and totally recreate the project from scratch to regain my lost disk space. This included having to sit thru a 6 hour long transcoding session which pissed me off to no end.
Encore CS3 appears on the surface to be a very powerful, feature rich, and approachable app with a simple easy to use interface, but it is awfully bugged in just about every area I have explored and still needs lots and lots of work for it to be really useful. Frankly for me it is pretty damn annoying that I have invested so much money in this suite only to find several of the apps in it (Encore & Premiere in particular) behaving this poorly. In my opinion every single app in the suite exhibits lousy performance whenever you must do anything at all involving the disk from the time you click to start it up until the time you click to close it down. Several of them are just as seriously bugged as Encore too, and being a long time Photoshop v5.5 user I expected much more from Adobe. Even Photoshop is two or three times as slow now (e.g. it takes about 20-30 seconds to simply create an empty 500x500 pixel image file and almost a full minute to load a 30x60 pixel single-layer gif). So far I have attempted to create 6 DVDs using Encore and after 3 weeks of effort have only succeeded in getting one of them onto a final disk -- and that one is kinda limping to work correctly in my DVD player. Three of those projects became so corrupted while working on them that I had to delete them completely and recreate them from scratch, only to find that I still couldn't get them to completion for one reason or another. Seriously disappointing.

Change Request Management users and their profiles

I would like know which users are useful for the usage of change request management functionality within SAP Solution Manager and which profiles should they have?
Users: Requester, Service Desk Empl., Change manager, Change advisory board(?), Developer, Tester, IT Operator, Administrator(?)
Profiles: SAP_SOCM_REQUESTER, SAP_CM_DEVELOPER_COMP, SAP_CM_CHANGE_MANAGER_COMP, SAP_CM_TESTER_COMP, SAP_CM_PRODUCTIONMANAGER_COMP, SAP_CM_ADMINISTRATOR_COMP,

The problem I have:
I get the errors (s. bellow), when I try to set correction in Development with development profile.

The solution for this problem is to log in with user who has "SAP_ALL" to recheck
the correction.

Power Manager features and other problems associated with the T510

For the better part of 5 years I've been a happy user of a IBM Z60m and decided it was time to pass my z60 off to my son and buy a new T510. Well I after several weeks of ownership I can honestly say I'm irritated and frustrated by several ongoing issues and am ready to send the whole unit back.
From the time I pulled it out of the box I'm been having power management issues. I've been on Microsoft's help forums, called lenovo support, and spent countless hours on blogs and forums looking for assistance. No matter what I do in the lenovo power setting arrangements my computer aways goes in stanby after a minute of nonuse and then asks me for my windows password. So after an entire day of inserting my password my frustration level is off the chart. I removed the password in the user settings that didn't help. I changed the global settings to turn off password in stanby mode that didn't help. I've changed the power choice feature to optimize and others but none of that helped.
Beyond those problems... I inserting two different disks to insert new programs and my system kept telling me it couldn't read either. I first thought they were scratch but my old ibm laptop read each without a problem.

Are you sure the system is going into standby after 1 minute? Or is the screen being locked?
Try this:
1. right-click on desktop and choose "personalize"
2. click on "screen saver" in the lower right corner
3. uncheck the box that says "On resume, display logon screen"
Does that fix your issue?

CS4 Exporting and Importing Problems

Hey all,
I joined this forum specifically so I could ask this question. I have been looking all around and can not find the answer.
I have a Canon Vixia HF S10, with internal 32 gb memory, and am trying to import directly into Premiere Pro. Now, I have the media browser set up to AVCHD, and the icon next to the files is that filmstrip and speaker, showing that it knows it's video. However, when I try to drag it in, it acts like it's importing, and then pops up an error stating that the "Format is not supported". Now it says on Adobe that it IS supported, and I can import it elsewhere. I've tried re-installing it, using Clean Script, and nothing works! I've also updated it every time I've installed it, though I've tried without updating as well.
My other question is this: I want to export a project as a .dv or DV stream, and I cannot find an option for it. Simple as that. It also says that exporting as .dv is supported in CS4. What's the problem? Is there something I need to download for either of them?
I'm running it on a Mac, on Leopard.

I am having the same problem. The file extension that I am trying to import
is .mts - AVCHD format which Adobe does not seem to recognise. I have taken it from a panasonic camera. Camera makes no difference, it is the format in which the file is stored. I have also also opened up
a customer chat with technical support on adobe. Could it be something to do with missing codecs?

10.1.3.3 fault management framework and catchall problem

Hi all,
I have a BPEL process with a catchall exception block for the entire process (in the .bpel file). The errorhandling determines if action needs to be taken on a given exception and notify's tech support with an e-mail if action needs to be taken. This works fine.
However, it would be nice if you could retry faulted instances if for instance a web service was temporarily down. Here the fault management framework comes to the rescue. I have created default policy and fault-binding files. I have set it up so that any error goes to human interaction. Apparently this worked. An instance pending manual recovery was created, and it could be retry'ed from the BPEL console.
So here is my problem: The fault management framework apparently overwrites the catchall exception in the BPEL process, so that while a task for human interaction is created the error block is not excuted first - meaning that no e-mail notification is sent and no differentiating between exception occurs.
If I remove the default policy and fault-binding files then the catchall is used again.
This may be expected behaviour, but I assume that it is possible to use both a catch all block in the bpel code AND the generic fault management framework.
Does anybody have any ideas?

The BPEL Error Hospital that Oracle introduced with SOA Suite 10.1.3.3 will prevent you from having to model the handling of Binding Faults or Runtime Faults in BPEL processes.
Hope in the future we will also be able to specify policies for handling custom faults that may occur anywhere in the BPEL process, i.e. not only on invoke activities.
This framework will gives us the opportunity to handle all the business and runtime faults for an “invoke” activity. With the framework we can define one policy for every bpel domain.
In the bpel/domains/default/config/fault-policy-binding.xml , we can setup the policies we would use and which processes,partnerlinks,port types will be part of it.
If there is already some fault-handling (catch) defined in the the bpel process, the framework will overrule this, and use a policy if possible.

Grantor Managment solutions and BCS problem after technical upgrade.

Hello every one,
The current release SAP installation was upgraded to ECC 6.0; this was a technical upgrade and did not replace functionality such as "Former Budgeting" with the new BCS functionality. SAP developed the Grantor Management solution utilizing BCS. BCS utilizes a different table structure from the Former Budgeting functionality. The current tables do not contain the BCS reference points to each other which limits the implementation of Grantor Management in the same instance. There are no plans to upgrade to BCS functionality at this point in time.
what are my options? How can we work around this issue?

Local management users and Radiusproblem

I have created a wlan for guests and would like to only authenticate guestusers against Local Net Users database on the WLC.
My problem is that it is also possible to log on with usercredentials for radiusauthentication.
I have not enabled any AAAservers for the guestwlan.
Any tips how to stop the radiusauthentication for this wlan ?

That is how it currently works, but here are two options:
You can either change the Web Radius Authentication to CHAP or MD5-CHAP which is located in the GUI... Controller | General
Or else you can create 3 fake radius servers on the wlc and then specify those three under the guest wlan radius servers.
