Managed vs. reference

In building my latest library, I forgot to uncheck the box for iPhoto making copies upon import. I have always had the photos imported by reference since they have all be organized before import and I know where they all are on the HD.
Is there a way to change this or am I stuck with this set up for this library? I have room for the photos to be duplicated on this MacPro, but if I'm to have a copy on the lap top for traveling I'm going to have to have the whole ball of wax on an ext. HD for there isn't room on the lap top HD.

Simply, replace the files in the Originals folder with aliases and move the files to where you want them.
One way of doing this is to rebuild the Library with iPhoto Library Manager +while having the ‘Copy Files...’ option unchecked. This will create a new Library in Referenced Mode: thereafter you can move the files to your chosen location.
I’m sure you’ve seen commentary on this board about the problems that can arise running referenced Libraries.

This is my first post on this forum; I am working for a Cisco partner.
I am working on Tidal Enterprise Orchestrator 2.3.0.441 (hotfix1 and 2, content update 1), part of CIAC starter edition.
Scheduled Collect metrics failed in 'vSphere Datacenter Sync' and in 'vSphere Cluster Data Sync' parts
Problem is at the level of 'Query Datacenter Managed Object Reference'
Input is Datacenter name (well defined, value is not '*'), but this box is not executed (stay white). Next box : 'Set Datacenter MOR' define a variable with value 'Datacenter-' instead of 'Datacenter-[output of Query Datacenter Managed Object Reference]. And finally 'Create Cluster table" failed because a root element is missing (the datacenter name)
So my question is why 'Query Datacenter Managed Object Reference' is not executed ?
I change nothing in the workflow, and Datacenter is normally well defined.

This particular utility workflow is set to not-archive completed instances.
This means that, after it finishes, it is not saved to the database and you can't see the runtime information. It improves performance and saves database space, but does make troubleshooting a little more roundabout.
You'll want to turn on archiving temporarily to see what the error message is. Open the process, go to the Options tab, and check the "Archive completed instances" box.

Management Pack reference/dependency cleanup tool

Has anyone else seen a tool that locates old/stale MP references and removes them? I swore I ran across a tool the other day that did this, however I can't find it now that I actually need it.

IMG Setting for Fleet Management - Set Reference Object for Vehicles

On other SAP 4.7 systems I have been able to access in the IMG "Set Reference Object Screen for Vehicles" under the "Settings for Fleet Management". I am currently working in a system that doesn't have that option in the IMG. What do I have to do to get this menu in the IMG?

Manage or Reference iPhoto Library?

A newbee question - what is the consensus about doing a hard import (manage) of my iPhoto library?
And what about miscellaneous pictures - just leave them where they are and Reference?

Part of the answer will rest on how you plan to use your pictures. Another part depends on your personality.
As a rule, I don't use external editors (photoshop, photoshop elements, etc..) very often. I find the editing features in Aperture to be sufficient. On occasion I will use PSE and/or a plug-in. If I was in a situation where I found myself using a lot of external editors, I would most likely consider using referenced files.
Also, how disciplined are you? Using referenced files might require you to be pretty disciplined in how you set up/manage your folders and how you set up your images. I no longer remember, maybe somebody can clarify, but I wonder if Aperture/iPhoto behaves like iTunes in that any file/folder deletion has to be done via Aperture or else it gets very confused very quickly.
Personally, I like iPhoto/Aperture for its organizational and management features. When I work with my images I prefer for Aperture to take care of the image storage. One less concern.
Of course there is a question of personal preference. Many prefer to deal with referenced files. It gives them more flexibility. For example, a person will have a much easier time switching from iPhoto/Aperture to Lightroom if they use a referenced file system.
Just my $0.02 worth, and of course YMMV. Good luck with your quest.

Itune managing versus reference managing of music/video files

Question for does with large music and video/movie files on external drives. Do you find it easier to allow itunes to manage the files or do you manage the files yourself? If using itunes only as a reference files management tool to point to the media files you have on an external drive, can you still put your music/movie files on your iphone or ipod? Do you feel you have better advantage because you can put the metadata in yourself? Trying to figure out the best solution available in 2012 for managing my media files.

Change Library from Managed to Reference

I currently have my library set up as Managed. The files are Canon RAW with changes. Is there a way I can change my library from Managed to Referenced. I would like to export the RAW files to a directory and still maintain the changes I have made to the files. I don't want to export the files a jpg's to maintain the changes.
Let me know if converting from managed to referenced is possible and how I can do it.

You can move all of your masters out of the Aperture library. All of you changes and modifications will still be stored in Aperture and will still be applied to all of the associated masters. Those changes will not be seen if you open the masters through another application directly.

Managed or reference iPhoto operation??

Hello, I intend to move my iPhoto libary to an external HDD (NAS) attached to my AEBS. My goal is to use a remote MacBook to modify the photos/albums, and a a mini-mac (setup as HTPC) to display the shared library via FrontRow. My questions:
1) Will using the MacBook to modify that remotely-stored libary work (assuming I never have the same libary open simultaneously elsewhere)? How would I configure iPhoto to do this?
2) How would I configure iPhoto/Front Row on the mini-HTPC, if possible?
3) Would either/both the Macbook & mini-HTPC screen saver features be able to access the iPhoto folders to display photos?
4) If I sync my iPhone with the MacBook, will it be able to "sync" with iPhoto, even if the actual library is stored on the NAS?

Much of this has been answered on your other post.
There are two ways to share, depending on what you mean by 'share'.
If you want the other machine to be able to see the pics, but not add to, change or alter your library, then enable Sharing in your iPhoto (Preferences -> Sharing), leave iPhoto running and go to the other machine. There, enable 'Look For Shared Libraries'. Your Library will appear in the other source pane.
Remember iPhoto must be running on both machines for this to work.
If you want the other user to have the same access to the library as you: to be able to add, edit, organise, keyword etc. then:
Quit iPhoto on both machines
Move the iPhoto Library Folder to an external HD set to ignore permissions. You could also use a Disk Image or even partition your Hard Disk. This volume should be formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled). Folks using NAS devices report issues with importing, sharing and editing.
On each machine in turn: Hold down the option (or alt) key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting dialogue, select 'Choose Library' and navigate to the new library location. From that point on, this will be the default library location. Both machines will have full access to the library, in fact, both machines will 'own' it.
However, there is a catch with this system and it is a significant one. iPhoto is not a multi-user app., it does not have the code to negotiate two users simultaneously writing to the database, and trying will cause db corruption. So only one user at a time, and back up, back up back up.

Trying to Create a Catalog file using WSIM (Windows System Image Manager)

I have been looking online for a solution to htis problem for days and come up with nothing so any help would be amazingly helpful.
I have created a Windows 8.1 image which I would like to role out to all users within my company but when trying to create a catalog file I am getting an erorr message saying "Windows SIM was unable to generate a catalog." It says "Mounting
Windows Image file......This might take a few minutes" and then fails after 6-7mins.
When opening the log file I get this:

The one image that did work (LiteTouchPE_x64.wim) was from the OS I imported to Microsoft Workbench but the components are different to any that I have seen online when looking on how to do this.
I have made sure that the architecture is x64 and tried from ISO files I have on the system already but get the same error.
This is the first project I have been involved in and only ever done IT support before this.

Yes I am trying to capture a reference image that I have created on another machine and then reploy this through MDT. I am trying to open the Unattend.xml file because the "Capture and Sysprep" fails on the reference machine when trying to run

OBIEE 11g (11.1.1.5.0) - Issue with starting Node Manager

Have anyone faced an issue with starting Node Manager in OBIEE 11g (11.1.1.5.0)? OS is 64 bit Linux, WebLogic is 10.3.5. I used the software-install method and followed by running config.sh. Everything completed successfully. I updated the catalog and rpd location in the FMW control screen.
To get it activated I bounced services and when I try to start Node Manager it gives below error --

I see the same issue reported in ML OBIEE 11g - Node manager fails to start upon upgrade [ID 1329442.1] and WebLogic Server: Node Manager Startup is Failing with java.io.IOException: Unsupported cypher suite [ID 1329260.1] I tried to modify commEnv.sh. But it didnt help me.
Please let me know if anyone have faced similar issue and what exactly did you do to resolve it.

Hi,
There are Two types of Cipher suites --- Certicom Cipher Suite and SunJSSE Equivalent Cipher Suite. And with Weblogic 10.3.5, you are using Sun JSSE Cipher Suite, and by default Node Manager uses the Certicom Cipher Suite.
In the nodemanager.properties, Add CipherSuite=SSL_RSA_EXPORT_WITH_RC4_40_MD5, save and restart Node Manager.

Hello. Thanks for the time. I was wondering if I can get some enlightment on the SP 2013 workflow manager configuration. In the technet video series one of the steps is to create a certificate and use that... but in most install docs
I've found the step is skipped and set to choose an auto generate a cert with a key... like the farm passphrase. My question is really in regards to what is the difference and can we have that set for in production? or is the auto-generate only for dev
and testing?

Manager name LOV in hr schema

dear all
im trying to get manager name as list of value to update the employee manager id.
ive add the Employee entity object with the EmpManagerFKAssoc.Employee association to the employee View and create a calculated field to get the manager first name and last name from the EmpManagerFKAssoc.Employee association and build list of value based on this calculated field .
every things goes fine when i open the list of value and choose the manager name the field manager id updated correctly but the field manager name which is based on the calculated field does not updated.
please note that when i open the employee view the manager name field filled normally but the problem is only when i choose employee from manager list of value
also note that i know this can be achieved by using custom popup or task flow opened as popup but i want to do it using standard business component LOV.

when we define LOV based on view object attribute we don't have to set partial trigger because the LOV based on the same field and if it needs so then when i drag the data control it is generated automatically like when i create the form from the data control it generate partial trigger on the manager id reference on the manager name and it update the manager name.
any way i set partial trigger on the manager name field and nothing happened still the same behavior
any additional suggestion..

Importing manager attribute in FIM

I have two tables:-
users:-
employeeid:firstname:lastname:deptnumber
department
deptnumber:deptname:manager
A SQL view combines this two tables and I am importing data through SQL MA and inbound synch rule.
All attributes are coming except manager. I have choose manager as 'Reference' in SQL MA. I am sure employee exists.
All attributes are getting imported except manager.

What is the format of 'manager' in the SQL table 'department'? It's the same that 'employeeid' in the SQl table 'users'?
'Manager' are imported in the CS of SQL and not in MV? Or it's not present in the CS?
And your flow 'manager' is for 'department' object, and not for 'user' object: With you current configuration, you cant' flow manager on user object through inbound synch rule.
