Management Console Error ! HELP !

I just installed Solaris 10 and as of today whenever I open the Solaris Management Console and select Storage / Disks, I'm getting an error like "Attempt to retrieve a lists of disks failed. Error: CIM Timeout". This just started. I have 7 SCSI disks and all are powered up and none appear to have failed. I have mount points associated with all of them and I can access files on them. On the last reboot, the system would not boot and required me to run restore_repository.... Any ideas as to how to troubleshoot this ? Yesterday, I ran newfs on disks 1 - 6, disk 0 is my boot disk. I mounted the filesystems and all appeared be be fine until now. Any thoughts are sincerely appreciated ! Randy

CLOSE THIS ISSUE.... This is loaded on the SPARC platform. Apparently what was happening, I had left a CD in the drive, and for some reason, although the SMC does not show CDROM devices, it was taking forever to read the CD although I could execute anything from the disk. Anyway, I removed the CD, rebooted, and all was well. Thanks for the tip though. I am already noticing several bugs throughout the system, so maybe I should have stuck with 8 or possibly 9..... Solaris 10 Management Console error

I found an error in the new Solaris 10 x86 (11/04).
I downloaded the free Software Express for Solaris x86 Platform (11/04) and installed it on a Dell 8600 P4 1.8 system. Fresh install of all software excluding OEM on a new hard drive. I was logged in as Root. Started the Solaris Management Console to do some initial NFS mounts. Expanded Storage->Mounts and Shares from within the Navigation window. In this same Navigation window clicking on �Mounts� gives the following error: �Unable to read security authorizations because of an unexpected error from the management server. CIM_ERR_FAILED�.
Work around for now was to do a manual �mount� editing �/etc/vfstab�.

I've the same problem, but I'm a Newbie to Unix. Unfortunately the Guides from the sun-homepage assume the Management Console Server to work. It would be very helpful for me to get some overview at the file-structure in Solaris 10 - best including were to find witch configuration-file and discription of their syntax. I could also do workarounds for my configuration-needs with that.
Ok, rtfm, one could say, but perhaps it's no problem and someone who reads this can simply post a link to such an overwiev.

"The management server cannot perform the operation requested
if this problem persists, refer to the log Viewer for additional information and contact your Sun Microsystem support provider.
The actual error reported was:
User root was partially modified. See the error log for further details "
I have seen that the changes requeted( change shell in this case) does actually take place although the SMC complains. Where is the error log and how do I see it ? I fail to understand why this happens. Any help will be appreciated.
I have also noticed that when I make any changed to other users SMC does not complain.

Hi,
Looks like your mmc dll is corrupted, with your install and uninstall of software.
Two Options:
1. Upgrade the Kernel with latest Patch level, which comes with new SAPMMC.dll file
OR
2. Just download the SAPMMC*.sar file from service market place and extract in exe directory, since it is windows re-booting the server doesn't hurt.

- SAP xMII 11.5
- SAP xMII CMS 11.5
- SAP xMII Security 11.5
- Microsoft SQL Server folder
from control panel --> add and remove folder, when we were deleting these folders, IIS services were stopped by the system. After deleting the same we faced this problem.

Is this a DSfW server? Because on a DSfW server you have to use port
1636 instead of 636 to connect to the Edir side of the server.
Don't try to use port 389 (or 1389 on a DSfW server) as this does only
work on servers which are specifically configured to allow that.

If you don't have an entry like "SQL Server Reporting Services (InstanceName)" in Windows Service Manager (Services.msc) then because SSRS service not installed on that machine. Install it, then you will see such an entry.

This is not an SQL issue it's a SC Service Manager issue. Reporting Services is installed and running on the SQL side. The problem is that as I am now aware I cannot get the Data Warehouse Server to register in the Service Manager consoles to connect that
with the canned reports and turn on Reporting Workspace. Any thoughts?

I have installed Oracle 10g client for administrator(for Windows Vista) on my Windows Vista machine to manage Oracle databases remotely.
However, after creating the TNS service names I get error in OEM admin console as follows and do not see any DB connections.
Error: Failed to parse tnsnames.ora file
oracle.net.config.serviceAliasException: TNS-04404: No error
caused by Oracle.net.configException: TNS-04414
caused by TNS-04610"
How can I troubleshoot this error and rectify OEM console.

I had exactly the same problem: ServiceAliasException: 11, not 10 as in the MetaLink note referred to above.
It turned up today, but the tnsnames.ora file hasn't been changed since October 15:th. It turns out to be
some kind of security matter in windows (XP in my case, but I guess it's about the same in Vista).
All the files in my TNS_ADMIN folder have been set to read-only. Looking at them with cygwin shows that
it's actually even worse: They've been chmod:ed 0 and put on an ACL.
Once I chmod:ed them writable again (guess removing the read only flag in windows would do the same),
I could create and save new entries with my 10.2 OEM standalone again.
Seems youy get a "ServiceAliasException: 11" when tnsnames can't be written.

MMC (Microsoft Management Console) error when running Diskeeper on T61! How to solve?

The preloaded Diskeeper program ran well on my WindowsXP based T61. But recently, I think it's after I upgraded the system to Service Pack 3 and installed Office 2007, every time I tried to run Diskeeper, the following error message appears:
MMC has detected an error in a snap-in ...
Could anybody please help solve this?

This is a known problem that is a result of SP3. There is supposed to be a patch forthcoming but I've not seen a sign of it. When you get the error do you get a 3 choice menu, the second choice being Continue running and always ignore errors with this snap-in for the rest of the session? If you do, that would be the temporary solution until either Microsoft or Diskeeper pushes a patch, which seems to be a back-burner situation.

Exchange management console initialization failure

Hi all.
One of my clients SBS 2011 standard servers downloaded some updates yesterday & since then both the Exchange Management Console & Shell fail to open. In addition mail to the smart phones no longer works. Everything else seems ok. Mail is delivered
& received via Outlook, all services are running. I have tried uninstalling the updates, but the Microsoft C++2010 Redistributable that was installed yesterday does not appear in the list of updates to uninstall. Only one of these updates is listed
which is from 2012. This is the first part of the problem to resolving this issue. There are no "hidden updates" I am sure that this update was the most likely to be causing this issue. Any clues as to how to remove this update?

I have added & removed & added the WinRM IIS extension & ran WinRM Quickconfig
I have checked Powershell directory in IIS on the problem server. Make sure SSL is not required. Allow
only Anonymous access.
I have run this command from the Windows Powershell - note the warning
set-user yourusername -remotepowershellenabled:$true
Warning: The command completed successfully but no settings of “domain.local/MyBusiness/Users/SBSUsers/User” have
been modified
Checked the ExchangeInstallPath environment variable
Checked the application pool settings in IIS are set to Local System Identity
About the only item I have not tries is to remove & reinstall the PowerShell directory. I will do this over the weekend.
This server has been in operation for almost 3 years without an issue. Microsoft updates come down & now I have been working on the issue for about 6 hours. Any other ideas?

Explore Powershell Virutal Directory , what is the size of Web.config file?
What happens if you browse Powershell VD ?
Check the Powershell Application Pool
Make sure Enable 32 bit application under advance settings is set to FALSE
Perform an IISRESET

Facing problem which starting a real time services BODS Management Console

Hello All ,
I am facing a issue while starting the real time services from managment console
Error Log
Log: error_10_05_2011.log
(12.2) 10-05-11 11:05:55 (E) (1700:2324) Unknown: SP(NewService2, INDRMD36Q2:3501):flowThread() could not start real time job (BODI-300101)
List of congiurations done
1) Access Server configured and able to ping as well
2)Real time job create in BODS designer and can see that in management console
Note :
ETL tool : BODS
DB : Oracle
Any help is highly aprreciated

Please help: After removed a connector (nagios-connector) there is an error at the operations Manager Console

after installing the nagios connecor and it doesn'work, i try to remove it; with the powershell command remove-SCOMConnector. After removing it, Get-SCOMConnector shows me, that it doesn't exist:

Can somebody help me fixing this error?
Strange.. the powerShell Command "get-SCOMConnector" works.. but the console hangs (on loading) when i want to show the connectors...

I agree, we may need to remove the connector from OpsDB. In addition, here is blog regarding to the similar issue, hope it helps:
