Management of UCS-E SDRAM cards

It would be nice to find some documentation on the UCS-E series SD ram card that is provided as a blank for host OS. In particular it would be nice if the CIMC could be used to manage this card in a future firmware update. Functions should include, format and make bootable.
Anyone have any documentation on this specific issue?

Desktop Manager incorrectly says my media card is full

As you can see from the image below, Desktop Manager reports that my media card is full but this is incorrect - the card is empty but for the 3 photos I took earlier today. I am running iTunes 9.1, Desktop Manager 1.02 (build 8) and OS X 10.6.3.

UCS Virtual Interface Card 1280 failover

I'm facing some issues with failover and Cisco UCS Virtual Interface Card 1280.
I found some information regarding M81KR:

The Cisco UCS M81KR offers fabric failover, which enables interface failover at a physical level without involving the OS or hypervisor or certification overhead.

b) Both uplinks of one FI fail or FI fails : In this case the corresponding server links will be shut since there is no uplink available on an FI. But I didn't found about Cisco UCS Virtual Interface Card 1280.
Cisco UCS Virtual Interface Card 1280 is newer than M81KR, anybody knows if 1280 has the same feature? is it possible the failover even if the Fabric Interconnect fails?

The VIC 1280 has fabric failover as well, from the spec sheet:

Managing the UCS C220 M3S with the UCS Manager

I have 2 new Cisco UCS C220 M3S running 2.0(3b) and 2.0(1b) connected to a UCS-FI6248UP 5.2(3)N2(2.23d) via a Intel X520-DA2. I also have both management interfaces up via a 100 meg copper connections. My issue is that I can't see these servers in the UCS Manager the UCS-B was a no brainer but the C's are not discovered, I've looked through both the CIMC and the UCS Manager and I don't see an option to change the management to the UCS Manager. I'm sure that I'm missing something since this is my first experience with the UCS C or UCS as a whole. Thanks

Desktop Manager Won't Recognize Media Card Installed

I have installed a media card in my device. I have changed the default storage of new pictures to the card. I would like to move the other images from device memory to the media card, but Desktop Manager will not recognize the media card is installed. The media card does contain images, and I have successfully emailed attachments. How can I get Desktop Manager to recognize the media card?

Management software for VIC [M81KR] card "Cisco VIC Ethernet Interface" - Win 2k8R2

Hi,
I am configuring a blade presently that has a VIC (M81KR) card installed.
In the UCS profile, I configured 4 vNICS
- 2 vNICS for Public (One on Fabric A, one on Fabric B)
- 2 vNICS for Private (One on Fabric A, one on Fabric B)
I have installed the OS (Win Server 2008 R2) and the Ethernet Drivers (Cisco Ethernet Driver).
What I want to be able to do is to bond/team the links together and tag VLAN traffic.
-- I've downloaded the Utility ISO from Cisco, however there is no management software for the VIC (That I can see). There is only software for:
+ Broadcomm, QLogic & Emulex..
Any assistance is appreciated!

Just to add to Simon's comments, we rely on fabric failover rather than a teaming driver. This take the load off the host and puts it on the adaptor hardware.
The only other use case I've heard of for the teaming is in full width blades such as the B250 & B440, where customers may want to team across the two adaptors for great redudancy. As the MTBF for the adaptors is extremely high, this wasn't seen as a priority/concern. If you have another business or technical requirement that FF will not solve, please let me know so I can feed this back to our development team.
As for the VLAN driver, at present you need to configure unique NICs for each VLAN. I've pushed on this request for some time and I'm told it has been planned for a future release. I'll check to verify which release the Palo VLAN tagging driver (for windows) is tentatlively planned for and get back to you.

Raid management on UCS 210M2 with ESXI 4.1

I'm trying to figure out what is the best way to monitor the raid on an 210M2 with the megaraid card. Currently I have install ESXI 4.1 with a windows 7 worksation. On this workstation I have install the MSM but of course you can only see the raid of that workstation... What I've read on the LSI doc is that you need to install some kind of "drivers" on the esxi console to be able to monitor the whole raid... But with the limited options in the console shell of esxi, ( no rpm ), its impossible to install that driver ...
The question is how its possible to use MSM with ESXI 4.1 to monitor/manage the raid of the ucs210m2 ?

Based on what I have read, we do not need to install anything on ESXi hosts. MSM works with ESXi through CIM provider.
Refer to section .6.5.4.1 in the LSI doc. Also, here is the KB article from LSI

Make sure the requried network ports are open between the system running MSM and ESXi host.

OEL6.1 in VM manager does not see network card

I installed OL6.1 as a guest machine in VM manager. I started the install process and when I got to the network configuration it would not let me click on "configure network", it was greyed out. I thought that was a little bit odd but I just thought that I would configure it later. Once I got to the desktop of OL6.1 i checked for the eth0 settings but there was no eth0 at all. The OL6.1 did not even know a network card existed, but I tried to add it manually and still it did not see anything and would not connect to the internet. Has anyone seen this problem before? I will try to answer to the best of my knowledge your questions but I am a bit new at this. I downloaded the OEL 6.1iso media from Oracle site, I then imported it into the resources section in VM manager 2.1.
I then used the create new Virtual Machine and selected the server pool.
I selected the ISO file with OEL 6.1.
I gave it a name, memory size, console password.
Below that I can see the Virtual Network Interface is selected and it shows Bridge xenbr0.
It is showing Fully Virtualized machine not paravirtualized mode. As far as I know I did not install in Xen HVM or with PV drivers.
That is about all I did. Then I started the machine and when through the install process but it did not see the virtual network device.

Media manager won't recognise media card or contents

I'm getting frustrated here... the Blackberry used with the old Roxio PC software work fine. The laptop has been rebuilt, and the new BB Media manager does not want to recognise the photos I have stored on the Media card. I can upload them individually (there are around 300 of them) to Facebook or similar, I can bluetooth them individually to my Apple. But can not get them off or access them on mass. The Apple PC says "Unable to locate media card". The Windows PC says the media card is encrypted. I want these pics, what am I doing wrong?
I also remember when I had the first BB that I could access all the files as if the BB and media card were HDDs - now, despite loading the USB drivers that will not work.
Can anyone help please - apologies if this is a fixed problem already... I have searched the boards but nothing is coming up that answers the problem.

Well, if you use Log and Transfer then FCP will assign it one. I use L&T for P2 and for the footage from my Canon DSLR, and FCP assigns it the name of the folder that I offloaded the SD card onto. Which is why I give the folders unique names...tape names.
Maybe FCP won't recompress properly as you aren't using an editing codec to begin with. "I have some h264 .mp4 files that I want to recompress into motion jpeg files for offline editing on my Macbook Pro." H.264 isn't designed for editing, so it might not work right. First convert to ProRes 422, then media manage smaller.

Fabric Manager and UCS

I am having some problems getting Fabric Manager 5.0(4d) to authenticate to UCS switches (6120XP's at code level 4.2(1)). We are using TACACS+ for the authentication and the UCS switches are configured within TACACS. In Fabric Manager we get the status message of "Unknown User or Password (Server,Client). Anyone run into this?

This is what we use. We have a ACS server that hands out our dialback number per user or if it can't contact the TACACS server it will use the local username/password. Works like a champ. It will give you a 192.168.51.x address you telnet to 192.168.51.1. We also have 2 octopus cable to reverse telent to other devices.

Is "client power management" understood by non-Cisco cards?

I would like to tailor the "power client" IOS command to instruct WiFi adapters to limit their max transmiting power.
Will this be understood by non-cisco cards? In other words: is this a standard 802.11 power management command?
I am a little bit confused, because the documentation says that in order to use this command, "Aironet extensions" must be enabled....

What you are describing is often referred to as DTPC (Dynamic power control or Dynamic transmit power control). The following link shows the syntax for it. It only works with clients that support DTPC. This is a capability of clients that support CCX (v4 I believe). Most modern client adapters support CCX, as long as you are using their client software (such as ProSet for Intel). If you tell us what cards you have I can try to find if they support CCX and DTPC.

Roxio Media Manager Won't Recognize SD Card

I've followed some threads around here checking to see if I could fix this solution. I've reformatted my card several times, reinstalled BB Desktop Manager, along with almost everything else. My device shows up in the "My Devices" tab but it will not display my card. Any ideas?

BB desktop mgr v4.6 and 4.7 were released relatively close and I would first recommend first to uninstall v4.6 and go ahead and install v4.7....
Also, just as a note, the largest portion of the BB desktop mgr install and operation is the Media Mgr, due to the use of different drivers and operations in your cpu, so it will take a few minutes to run in some cases....
Try restarting your CPU to make sure no glitches are present on the computers operating system -
If after these two steps you are having a problem loading just the Media Mgr portion of the desktop software, then you may have a driver conflict occuring thru windows not allowing the proper load of this program... just a thought...

My family has one Itunes account with sharing across all our Macs, phones, pods and pads. Is there a way to separate my kids gift cards in the account so they each can only spend their card $ and still allow content to be shared across all family members...and of course prevent them from spending at will against my credit card on the account ???
