Managing 3 iPods from one account

How is this done? I have 10,000 songs, but each ipod is a different size. So I can only store some of the stuff on each ipod. One is my daughters, and two righ tnow are mind....one with more space. I also want to have movies and tv shows on each. How do I do this? Thanks.

Use playlists. After you connect your iPod click on it under Devices. Then on the Music tab enable "Selected playlists, artists, and genres". Choose the playlist you setup or the Artist/Genre you want to fill that iPod up with. Repeat on the other 2 devices.
Smart Playlists update on their own with the criteria you give them. Playlists will be manually updating to add new items to them.
Movies, TV Shows, etc. can all be done this way as well so you can put different ones on different devices.
Good luck!

  • Managing multiple iPods from one computer

The existing posts re: managing multiple iPods/iTunes accounts from one computer don't seem to address my question. I have been sharing my iPod with the family, and want to get my son his own for his birthday. Can I manage both iPods from the same computer? Does the iTunes software have the ability to "recognize" which iPod unit is attached? I'm dying to get his music out of my iPod ...

    Yes.
I'm dying to get his music out of my iPod ...
Create new playlist and put the music you want in it.
Open iTunes prefs -> iPod and select Automatically update only selected playlists and pick this new playlist.

  • How do you sync songs from an ipod from one account to another acount?

I have one iPod but two accounts. Both have music. I can no longer access the account my iPod is registered to. How do I move the songs from the iPod to the other account.

Was the music purchased from the iTunes store and if so, does the music include DRM protection - not iTunes Plus songs?
If so, you can't transfer iTunes content purchased with one account to another account. DRM protected content is associated with the account the content was downloaded with and cannot be transferred to another account.

Connect it to his iTunes library and set it up as a new device.  You should be prompted to Erase and Sync the iPod if his iTunes library is separate from hers.
Or head to Settings -> General -> Reset -> Erase all Content and Settings.

  • Managing Multiple iPods on One Computer

Can I manage three iPods on one computer? One is an iPod Mini and two are Fifth Generation 80 GB iPods, so I need to be able to have at least two different music libraries due to memory space. (Three would be preferable.) Does anyone know if this is possible? Thank you!

If you are adding a second or more iPod for your own use, just connect the new iPod to your computer and follow the on screen instructions. It will update from your existing library. Depending on the size of your library and the type of iPod you choose you can have it update all songs and playlists, selected playlists only or you can manage it manually.
If the iPods belong to different people, there are basically two ways of using multiple iPods on a computer and these involve:
    a) Sharing a single iTunes library and or user account.
    b) Creating multiple user accounts and having separate libraries.
Sharing a Library and/or User Account
If you want to share the one library, you can set either or all of the iPods so that they only get updated with only certain playlists (you can update from more than one if you wish):
Loading songs onto iPod automatically - Windows
Choosing the update option "Sync Music - Selected playlists" allows you to create a playlist specifically for the iPod and drag the tracks you want into it. If you tire of the list and want to change it, you just add or remove the songs you don't want. The ones you take out out remain in the library to be used some other time if you choose. You can read more about playlists at these links:
iTunes: Creating playlists of your favorite songs
How to create a Smart Playlist with iTunes
Or you can choose to update any or all of the iPods manually and just drag whatever content you want to them: Managing content manually on iPod
Loading the iPod shuffle differs slightly but it can still be used with the others, for details have a look at this page:
Loading songs onto iPod shuffle - Windows
It's also possible to have multiple libraries in a single account. To create or access a second (or more) library, hold down the Option key (or Shift key in Windows) when launching iTunes 7. In the resulting dialogue you will get the option to create a new library or navigate to the other Library.
Note: You can only have one Library open at a time and iTunes will default to the last library opened if you don't use the keyboard command to choose one. This can prove tricky when using multiple iPods, if you don't use the keyboard command you can risk syncing to the wrong library:
    Using multiple iTunes libraries -Windows
    Separate User Accounts
Another option is to create a separate User account for each person on your PC or Mac. Different accounts by definition would give you completely separate libraries. Each account has it's own iTunes folder, Library and iTunes Music folder and you load it with CDs etc just as you did with your original one. The iPod can be set to update however the owner chooses, sync all, manual or sync specific playlists
I don't use Windows so I can't give you a step by step on that one, however I can point you to another web page which should help you out if you need it. You can read about Windows user accounts here:

  • How can i transfer my music from one account to another on a different computer?

So i have an itunes account on dell laptop and i share that account with other famliy members. I recently bought a mac pro and wanted to create a new account that way i can use icloud, is there any possible way to transfer everything from my old library to my new one or will i lose everything i had on my phone and ipods? Or is it possible to have one account but multiple icloud accounts?

    Lisa,
Just get copies of the song files and add them to your iTunes library.  With the exception of any DRM-protected files (purchased before mid-2009 and never upgraded) they will play fine, even though they are technically associated with the original account.

  • Transferring music from one account to another

I wanted to know if there is any way I can transfer music from one account to another account, my music library has over 1000 songs and i do not want to download them again, is there a way? THANKS!

Below is the information on how to take the music and transfer it to another machine that will be using the same apple ID.
But as stated earlier there is no way to transfer music to a brand new Apple ID without having to purchase it again as all music is tied into the Apple ID used at time of purchase.

  • Transferring tunes from one account to another

Apparently I once set up an account with a different name...when I lost my hard drive....now i have 67 purchased tunes that won't load on my iPod because I "don't have authorization to listen to them on this computer." I have tried everything suggested...re-authorizing the computer doesn't do it. Is there anyway to get the tunes purchased under one account over to the current account?

When you purchase protected content with a certain account, a computer MUST be authorized with THAT account only to play that content. There is no way to transfer ownership of a song from one account to another.
However, I am not sure why authorizing your computer is a problem. You authorized your computer with your old account which the music was purchased with, and they still didn't transfer?
I suppose what you could maybe do is contact Apple Support and explain your situation here: http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact.html?form=music&topic=Music%20Purcha ses&subtopic=Music%20Overview, but I'm not entirely optimistic they would fulfill that request.

  • Automatic clearing from one account to another

    Hi,
I have a g/l account that I want to automatically clear each month to another account?  Is that possible?  I know about f.13, but I am interested in automatically transferring an entire balance each month from one account to another.
    Thank you

    Hi:
Are these both accounts maintained on Open item management? If yes then you can do the balance transfer manually using F-04 (post with clearing button). Automatic clearing will not cater your requirement since it clears the GL balances as per specified criteria in OB74 . For automatic balance transfer i guess .there is no such way to do in SAP.

  • Transfer purschases from one account to another

We had iTunes and an account on a notebook computer and the hard drive crashed shortly before Christmas. I wanted to order an iTunes giftcard and but couldn't log into iTunes from another notebook so created a new account. I was in a hurry to get this gift out. Then, I connected our iPod Nano and tried to transfer the purchases. I authorized this computer but it won't let me transfer because it says the songs belong to another iTunes library. The iTunes library on the dead computer has all our purchases, and not all of them are on our iPods (nano, 2 shuffles - different family members).
So, I need to somehow get to our original account and transfer those purchases to the new account. I have made two purchases (giftcard, 1 song) on the new account, iTunes setup on the computer. I would think there has to be a way I can work with someone at Apple/iTunes to find my original account and transfer the purchases to the new account.

There's no way to transfer items from one account to another. Why don't you just go back to your original account? If the gift card was for someone else, it shouldn't matter that you don't use the new account.
    Best of luck.

  • Question on managing two iPods on one computer

Currently, I manage my iPod Nano on my laptop and manage my iPod Video on my desktop computer.
Im now thinking of managing both iPods on one computer. My plan would be to use the same iTunes library for both iPods and whenever the nano is connected, I would have iTunes set to sync only selected playlists and when the iPod Video is connected, have iTunes sync all songs and playlists.
My queston is; if I set it like this the first time each iPod is connected, does iTunes remember this setup the next time each iPod gets connected (i.e., the next time the nano gets connected, iTunes will automacically sync selected playlists and the next time the iPod video gets connected, iTunes will automatically sync all songs and playlists)?

When you use multiple iPods with one iTunes library each can have it's own setting and iTunes will recognise each iPod when it's connected and use the setting you have chosen. If any of your iPods are currently set to update automatically you need to take care connecting to a different iTunes. You can use a keyboard command to prevent your iPod auto-syncing with iTunes. While connecting the iPod to the computer on Windows with iTunes 7 installed hold down the Shift + Ctrl keys. This will stop the iPod from auto-syncing with iTunes and the iPod will appear in the source list. Wait until you are sure the iPod has mounted, and that it will not auto sync and then you can let the keys go. This may take between 20 to 30 seconds depending on your computer: iTunes 7.3 Keyboard Shortcuts for Windows
Once you have the iPod connected to the computer you intend to use you can set the update option accordingly. However just remember that if you did ever want to use the iPods on both computers again you would need to set them to manual update: Using iPod with Multiple computers

    Hi LinneaH,
If you are having issues with getting emails on your iPhone or iPad, then take a look at the article below to give you some troubleshooting options to get it working again. Make sure that the settings and passwords are correct for your email and if you still have issues, then you may want to remove the email account from your device and then add it back in.
