Managing ASA5510 using ASDM via internal interface
Hello
I am currently managing an ASA5510 using ASDM through the management port but I would like to manage the ASA through the internal port.
My concern is that I thought I remembered reading someplace that if you setup an internal port for management that it can't be used for anything else. Is this correct?
I only configured one internal port and it is the path to my LAN. I would hate to configure the port for management only to find that I disconnected my firewall from my internal network in the process. Can I use my one and only configured internal port for both ASA management and route from my LAN thru the ASA firewall?
I currently have the management port set to 192.168.1.1 and my internal interface is 10.1.1.1. If I open ASDM and connect thru the management port and select Configuration/Device Management/Management Access/ASDM/HTTPS/Telnet/SSH
select "ADD"
select access type "ASDM/HTTPS"
select interface "internal"
IP Address "10.1.1.0"
Mask "255.255.255.0"
Will that give me access to ASA management thru my internal network but cripple my network access to the ASA?
Sorry if this is confusing... I don't know how else to phrase it.
Thanks
Ed
Hi
it sounds like a better plan than opening up for each and every unit on the inside :).
But if you have a old laptop or something like that I would state that setting that up with a syslog server and use that to manage the firewall would be a even better option.
that way you would get logs and a management station.
there are several syslog servers that are free and I like to use grep that is also free to filter information.
http 10.1.1.52 255.255.255.255 inside
will make the 10.1.1.52 the only server to work with asdm
but you will have to remove the old http 10.1.1.0 255.255.255.0 inside statement.
If you find the answers helpful please rate.
good luck

Ok, I have a question for everyone. I have an ASA 5510 that I want to do VPN testing on for users that remote into the system from home. What I am wanting to do is create a VPN connection on the internal interface so that I can test the connections and connectivity before I give it to them and find out it does not work when they get home. I have tried to set up using the ASDM Wizard to the internal interface and got all the way through the set up OK. Once I try to connect, using the Cisco Client, it will connect and authenticate fine, but will not remote to or ping anything on the network.
Here are the settings that I am using:
Remote Access
Internal interface
Cisco VPN Client Release 3.x or higher
Authenticate via AAA server
Address Pool name: test
Address Pool Range: 192.168.1.1 - 192.168.1.5
Address Pool Subnet Mask: 255.255.0.0
Leaveing DNS and Wins server selections blank
Using the default Encryption
Internal access (NAT) with the exempt network of 192.168.0.0 /16 network, internal interface
Split Tunneling is not enabled
I can connect to the ASA fine, just cant get to the server with an address of 192.168.100.1.
I tried manual entery of an ACL rule for ANY to ANY on the internal network and that made no difference at all.
Any suggestions??
-JonJon,
Is your crypto map #6 your RA VPN tunnel ? if so that could be one of your problems, if you're running code 8.x and above nat-t is enabled by default, so you just need t remove that line ( not crypto map_Outside_map 6 set nat-t disable ) and try accessing inside resources , if your asa is running 7.x codes use the command above in the link previously provided in addition to removing the line you have found in your crypoto map. You should be fine removing it

If the support isn't there, you can't add it yourself.
However, you could try the Gmail Java app to read email:

Prob creating ABAP Proxy-Interface use external and interna msg definition
Hi,
I've created a service interface using external definition (message type for request and response), imported via WSDL file. However, while creating ABAP proxy in SPROXY, it gave the error message "Interface uses external and internal message definition". I searched through the forum, the questions were raised but no definite answer was found. Is it not possible to generate a proxy if there is any external definition used?
Details of the error message:
Message no. SPRX122
Diagnosis
In a message interface you can use messages from different sources:
Message types and fault message types edited in the Enterprise Services Repository
Messages imported into the Enterprise Services Repository (external definitions, RFC, IDoc)
In the current message interface, message types from different sources have been used. Since messages from these different sources must be handled differently during proxy generation, such a mixture of messages within a message interface is not possible.
System Response
The interface cannot be generated.
Procedure
Change the interface definition accordingly in the Enterprise Services Repository.
p/s: My external definition is actually derived from a ABAP FM web service. The reason why i used external definition is that i try to avoid the tedious steps of hard-coding all the data types for the request and response message types.
Any help would be highly appreciated.
- juliusHi Arvind,
For technical reasons, proxy generation and the respective editors in the Integration Builder do not support the entire language range of XML schema and WSDL. For an overview of which language elements are supported, see the Excel spreadsheet in the SAP Service Marketplace at service.sap.com/xi ® Media Library ® Documentation: SAP XI 3.0 (SP11) u2013 Supported XML Schema and WSDL (EN).
I couldnt find the above document in the service market place. Any hint to find it?
Thanks.

I just used "Erase" via "Find my phone" to erase and reset my MBP. It's caused my MBP to be locked. I entered correct 4 digit PIN and it seemed to accept it, but it won't allow use of the internal drive. Yosemite loaded. Anyone else had same problem?
Greetings Fraser Alexander,
Erasing your Mac shouldn't harm your internal hard drive but erasing does clear Yosemite and everything else off of it. Are you not able to restore it with your Time Machine backup?
iCloud: Erase your device
If you erase then find your Mac, you can restore the information on the Mac using a Time Machine backup. For more information, see the Apple Support article Recover your entire system. If you set an EFI firmware password on your Mac before it was lost, then erase it and later find it, you may need to take your Mac to an authorized repair center to unlock it before you can use it again.
OS X Yosemite: Recover your entire system
Take care,

Mgmt Via Dynamic Interface not working on 5505 version 7.2.111.3
Folks,
I have posted this question a couple of times on the forum but did not get a solution. I am trying to manage my 5508 controller from a dynamic interface which is assigned to port 7 of the controller. I have a switch connected to that port which has a PC on the same subnet as the dynamic interface. From the PC, I can ping the dynamic interface IP Address, but can not telnet,SSH,http or https to it. There is no clear doc that specifics how to effectly use the command "config network mgmt-via-dynamic-interface" command.

Any guidence would be highly appreciated.Im having a similar issue and have 2 TAC cases open.
TAC CASE#1: issue is that even when disbaled I can still access the dynmic interface via HTTPS/HTTPS/TELNET/SSH. But this is on a WISM1.
Thanks a lot for your quick and prompt response, I see that there is an internal Bug with an ID CSCty32586.
I see that the bug is fixed told be fixed in 7.0.230.0, but it’s not fixed. The bug is fixed in 7.2.x version.
I understand that you are using Wism on which 7.1.x version and above is not supported.
As 7.0.235.3 is released recently to overcome some of the changes and to fix some of the Bugs with older version on these devices.
Kindly try to upgrade the software version of the WLC to 7.0.235.3 and check the compatibility.
Please do let me know in case of any concerns and I will be glad to assist you.
TAC CASE#2: Just like you I can not access the dynamic interface. Still working that one .. The holiday dropped when I just opened that case.

I'm guessing you forgot to grant ASDM (http/https) access to the IP addresses used by the VPN? Can you SSH? If not, that is your problem to solve first. -

When using iTunes or any other audio software, the sound routes properly via the interface.
However, sound from my browsers all seem to route via the Powermac internal speaker, and i cant seem to find out why or where to set it to route via the interface.

MIGO - Distribute quantities via an interface.
Hi All,
We currently use subcontracting to record the consumption of components in a BOM via a goods receipt. Where a component of a BOM is batch managed, we can use the distribute quantities button against a line item to allocate more than 1 batch to the component. For example we want to GR 10kg for a component, and 5kg comes from batch A and 5kg from batch B.
The above scenario works well using MIGO (no similar distribute quantities functionality appears to exist in MB01). We are attempting to do the same via an interface. WE are currently investigating the use of basic type MBGMCR02 (BAPI_GOODSMVT_CREATE) and WMMBID02 (function L_IDOC_INPUT_WMMBXY) but have had no luck. Before we delve into these IDOCs deeper, I wanted to check to find out if anyone else had done something similar via an interface?
Our other option, as we cannot record a MIGO session, is to build our own wrapper around function module MB_CREATE_GOODS_MOVEMENT but I want to avoid this development if we can use a standard interface.
I'd appreciate any help or guidance in dealing with the above scenario.
Many thanks,
James.It is enough if you:
1. Distribute the stub and skeleton.
2. Make sure you know the proper string throught which the server was bound to the registry.
3. Make sure you call the appropriate objects and the proper method names on those objects. -
PeopleSoft Reconciliation via Compent Interface
All,
I would like to know if anyone has performed reconciliation using the PeopleSoft Component Interface Adapter in IdM 6.0 or IdM 6.0 SP1.
Would like to get an idea of what the performance is when reconciling at high volumes (e.g. 100,000 - 600,000 records). Also, would like to konw if anyone has tried reconciling via the Database Table Adapter against a DB2 PeopleSoft person table with the same record load and if the performance was better, if so, by how much.
Please let me know if I can provide more details.
Thanks,hi

Greetings all,
I am needing assistance in how to lockdown access to Local Computer Management and Windows Backup via Group Policy for users that access RDS service. I have followed this awesome guide - h t t p://w w w.it.ltsoy.com/windows/lock-down-remote-desktop-services-server-2012/
- but it is missing two important resources that I would like to lock down.Currently, I have successfully locked down Control Panel for users via Group Policy, but I cannot find any group policy or guide on how to restrict user access
to Computer Management (different to Server Manager). When using Win-X shortcut to open the 'Administrator's shortcuts' near the windows icon, I have locked down everything except Computer Management. Computer Management gives direct access to Disk Management,
Shares etc, which are locked down for users. But Windows Server Backup is still accessible. Can someone please guide me on how to restrict access to both Computer Management and Windows Server Backup.
Thanks in advance.
Terry.Prevent running of Windows Server Backup
Computer Configuration\Policies\Windows Settings\Security Settings\File System
Right click on File System - Add File - Drill down to \System32\wbadmin.msc
On the Database Security ACL that pops up - Remove Creator Owner, Remove Users and check Adminstrators have Full Access.
On the Object window - choose Propagate inheritable permissions to all... (Default) -
Need help in understanding FA acquisition via Internal Order
Hi Gurus
I need your help in understanding the FA acquisition via Internal Order. The process we are following is that we create AUC using the AUC asset class and enter that AUC number in the settlement rule while creating IO. Once IO budget is approved, we release the IO. Once GR is completed, we do the Invoice receipt for the PO, followed by settlement of IO against the AUC. Afterwards, we create fixed asset in AS01 and enter this asset number in the settlement rule for the AUC in AIAB and settle the AUC to Fixed asset for the costs.
My question is that during all this process, I don't see the PO information in the AUC record. When I display AUC, under the Enviornment tab, I see the Purchase order link but when I click it, there is nothing in there. The reason could be that we are creating AUC seperatly and not from within the IO where it says create AUC. I am not sure what is the best way for the whole process.
I would be thankful if you can guide me.
Thanks,
ShaluHi
Can someone please help me with this issue?
