Managing diag

I'm running 11g on Linux 64b (RedHat).
The diag located in
$ORACLE_BASE/diag
is using a lot of space. It has files quite a few files in it that are over 30 days old, and I probably don't need.
Are there commands inside Oracle (SQL or OEM) that I can use to manage this?
I'm being cautious about using OS commands to delete them.
=== Al

ADRCI is the way to manage the files in the Diag. So you should ue that. Now which files are these files which you want to delete?

Can anybody please tell what happened and what is solution for this.
    Thanks

I cann't help you. It is your DB you have to know what's your environment. What application/users are connected to DB.
You may find some glue in column log_user,priv_user, schema_user. From those column you could find DB schema under whitch job is created. then investigave if there is any PL/SQL code. If yes go to the code and look for dbms_job.submit procedure.
If no PL/SQL then you must found who is connecting under DB schema and ask then.
Or at last: may be you could audit access to sys.job$ table to find who is manipulating with data - but I don't recomend it before testing this on some test DB to be sure that there is no bad side effect of monitoring ORACLE data dictionary table.
This DB is production DB or test/development DB ?

  • WIndows Server 2012 - Server Manager Error CLR20r3

WIndows Server 2012 - Server Manager Error CLR20r3
I have just experienced this error of ( CLR20r3) when trying to add or remove server roles.
Server Manager crashes when trying to go into the Add/ Or Remove server roles
    What I have tried.
    .NET Diag
    .NET Fix
Lots of research, and didn't find any resolution.
Apparently this is not strictly tied to Windows Server 2012, as I see that Windows Server 2008 R2 , and even Windows desktop users have experienced this issue. With no direct resolution.
Here is a screen shot for reference.......
If anyone should obtain the MS Fix or hear of it, please post so that others who are experiencing this issue can find peace in their day.
I have given up, ended up performing a reinstall. ( sadly)
    RF

    Hi RF,
Based on your description, would you please refer to following operations and troubleshoot this issue?
    Please use
Sytem File Checker tool to scan all protected system files.
    Please
perform a clean boot to check if some third-party services affected.
Please backup the registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Ole. Then delete following two registry key (if exist): LeagcyImepersonationLevel and LegacyauthenticationLevel
Then log off and logon and monitor the result.
In addition, please navigate to %windir%\logs and check ServerManager and CBS log file if you can find some
    relevant errors.
If any update, please feel free to let me know.
    Hope this helps.
    Best regards,

    I'm having a similar issue.
Did a fresh install of 11.2.0.1.0 under Windows 2003 - latest updates - IE 8.
I can access Enterprise Manager from other computers - but not from the local server.
    I've tried both: https://oracle.xxxx.xxx:1158/em and https://localhost:1158/em
Both give me the generic "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" - but if I access from another computer it comes up - so I know everything is working...

    Hi
    Try to increase socket limits
Normally you can do this within the admin console , Servers -> Configuration -> Tuning -> Socket Readers
For you, since you can't login, set the ThreadPoolPercentSocketReaders in the config.xml to a higher value than 5
    kind regards

    Hello,
I've got problem with EM. When I try to connect to it I get the following error:
Enterprise Manager is not able to connect to the database instance. The state of the components are listed below.
Database Instance, Listener and Agent are all green.
    Few more information:
    OS: Win7 64 bit
-installed loopback adapter. I can ping my computer name (J-PC) without problem and it pings back 10.10.10.10 address.
-I have set the ORACLE_HOME and ORACLE_SID env variables
-I can login to sqlplus with sysman account
-emctl status dbconsole shows that the EM 11g is running
I've been struggling for some time trying to get EM running as it should, but no luck so far.

  • Can SQL Developer be used for Oracle Support "HTML Output" Diag Scripts ?

    Hi All,
Oracle Support has asked me to run a diagnostic script (OTL_Diag.sql for anyone familar with the script) that produces output in HTML format using SQL*Plus to help troubleshoot an OTL problem we are having. Unfortunately I don't have SQL*Plus installed and my company is not on board with me installing it because of the SQL*NET connection required. Instead I have access to SQL Developer 3.1.0.7. While this works fine for most situations I'm having problems generating the required .html output file that Support needs.
I've tried runing the OTL_Diag.sql a couple of ways using SQL Developer. First, I opened the file from SQL Developer and using the Run Script functionality (F5) I executed the code that way. This method did give me an opportunity to input the necessary parms and it did create the 'start' of the HTML file on my (Windows) file system, but the script seemed to abort with a java error that indicated some sort of format error (sorry, I'm not a java person so I can't provide any more info, but I'll be glad to get the exact error message if anyone thinks that will help solve my issue).
My second approach was to open a SQL Window where I typed in @C:\OTL_Diag.sql without quotes. This approach also gave me the opportunity to enter the necessary input parms and it seemed to end normally. It also created the 'start' of the diaganostic output file on my Windows file system, but it 'completed' before any of the 'real' diaganostic output was written to the .html file.
The Metalink note clearly specifies that the OTL_Diag.sql script is to be run with SQL*Plus 10.2 or above so I don't think I can complain too loudly to Oracle about this...but given that I don't have access to this product (and it is useless for me to again ask to install it) I am hoping someone out there has some ideas or insight as to how I can use SQL Developer to execute this diag script in a manner that will produce the required .html output file.
Thanks in advance to anyone taking time to read my post !!
    Jeff

    >
As a result, at this point in time my only available tool to run the OTL_Diag.sql script (provided by Oracle Support) is SQL Developer
    >
Then you will have to edit the script, break it into pieces, execute each piece manually and save the output to feed into the next piece as required based on what the script is actually doing. Don't post the script or contents as that will likely violate your support agreement.
As I already mentioned the script may be using syntax and/or commands that are simply not supported by sql*developer. One likely area is the script may be producing intermediate output scripts that are then processed by a later portion of the script. If that is the case then my suggestion to execute the pieces manually should work but you will need to do some trial-and-error to see.
Even if you appear to be successful you will still have an issue when you communicate the results of your 'test' to Oracle support and they determine you didn't follow their instructions to use the proper tool.
Sounds like your management is either ignorant or incompetent so I suggest you cover yourself by documentating the instructions from Oracle support and the direct orders you were given to disregard those instructions. No need to discuss that issue further but clearly there are resources available somewhere in the org that has the proper privileges or they wouldn't be able to maintain and support the database. If they want to pay for support they should heed their advice. Nuff said.

    Hello Marc!
    Thank you for activity!
I solved today my problem. There are some bug in registry data on Windows Server.
I save Nakisa published profile from /Admin_Config and /XML directory's. Then I uninstall SuccessionPlaning application, then I uninstall IIS and then I clear Windows registry.
After that, I Install IIS, Nakisa and configure they as described in Installation manual.
    Everything work as needed.
I think that problem apear when we customize Nakisa and fogot that there are at 19-00 every day system going in backup mode. When we save and publish new configuration - system goes into backup and we got inconsistency in Nakisa.
    Thank you anywhere!

  • W510 w/WinXP, device manager reports issue w/1394 Net Adapter (error code=10)

I recently reimaged a brand new W510 w/WinXP w/SP3 & installed Lenovo Toolbox utility. Which immediately identified an issue w/the 1394 Net Adapter in Device Manager. Looking at the Device Status (details) it states "The Device Cannot Start (code 10)" and suggests reloading the drivers. I've tried updating them using the UPDATE DRIVER button and searching the web but it states Windows cannot find a better match then the one I have. I've copied the driver from a 2nd WinXP machine (nic1394.sys). I've installed all of the Microsoft updates (for Critical Software and Hardware). Installed the Lenovo Driver Update utility & installed all available driver updates and flashed the BIOS and nothing has resolved it.  I've run the full Lenovo toolbox diags and everything passes (including the 1394 adapters) I've also sent the PC into Lenovo for repair and they indicate everything tests fine as well..
Question, does anyone one know if this device is compatible w/WinXP ? Any other suggestions ?
    Thanks,

    hey acekc77,

  • Advice re best practice for managing the scan listener logs and list logs

    Hi friends,
I've just started a job as a RAC dba administrator for some big 24*7 systems, I've never worked with clusterware and RAC.
    2 Space problems
    1) Very large listener_scan2.log in /u01/11.2.0/grid/log/diag/tnslsnr/<server name>/listener_scan2/trace folder
    2) Heaps of log_nnn.xml files in /u01/11.2.0/grid/log/diag/tnslsnr/<server name>/listener_scan2/alert folder (4Gb used up)
Welcome advice on the best way to manage these in the short term (i.e. delete manually) and the recommended practice and safest way (adri maybe not sure how it works with scan listeners)
Welcome advice and commands that could be used to safely clean these up and put a robust mechanism in place for logfile management in RAC and CLusterware systems.
Finally should I be checking the log files in /u01/11.2.0/grid/log/diag/tnslsnr/<server name>/listener_scan2/alert regulalrly ?
My experience with listener logs is that they are only looked at when there are major connectivity issues and on the whole are ignored.
    Thanks for your help,
    Cheers, Rob

Have you had any issues that require them for investigative purposes? If not, just remove them. Are the logs required for some sort of audit process? If yes, gzip them to a location where you can use your OS tape backup policies to retain them for n-days. Once you remove an active file, it should recreate the file and continue without interruption.

  • Monitoring Cisco UCS Manager via HP System Information Manager 7.1 (SIM)

I am working with a customer to configure HP System Information Manager 7.1 (SIM) to monitor their Cisco UCS Manager.
The customer is looking to monitor the following:
    - CPU Utilization on manager, blades, servers, etc...
    - Memory utilization
    - Network utilization
    - System inventory
Alerting is needed for the following:
    - Hardware failures: memory, power supply, drive, etc...
    - Predictive failures
    - Alert messages
I have the list of all the MIBs provided by Cisco but an having the following issues while loading them into HP SIM.
While loading MIB "CISCO-UNIFIED-COMPUTING-TC-MIB" I get the following error message:
    Line 128: Error defining object: expected a label, found reserved symbol {
    Line in MIB: SYNTAX Gauge32 {
Guage32 is imported from SNMPv2-SMI MIB
To get past this error I found a version of the MIB that removes all the textual conventions that where causing errors.  I have attached the fixed MIB file to this discussion. With the fixed version of the MIB installed in SIM everything compiles and installs except the following two MIBS. CISCO-UNIFIED-COMPUTING-NOTIFS-MIBCISCO-UNIFIED-COMPUTING-CONFORM-MIB Questions:
    1. Is there any way to get the CISCO-UNIFIED-COMPUTING-TC-MIB MIB to install correctly into HP SIM?
    2. Is my MIB load order setup correctly?
    3. Has anyone had success getting HP SIM to monitor and alert for Cisco UCS manager?

    Please post "debug ccsip messages".
Based on your debug you are getting "Cause No. 38 - network out of order."
You may want to bind SIP to an interface that the IP address is defined which Lync points to.
