We have a team that isn't set in stone - I need to know: if I purchase a CC for teams account with 4 licenses on a monthly subscription and then we no longer have a 4th person can we remove the 4th license and only pay for 3. Any help is appreciated!

We tried all the options like ftp,tftp,scp,etc., to copy cisco application networking manager license file from my pc to its server which has CISCO ADE OS .But unable to copy .can anybody know correct method to copy ??

Adrian,
In order to install the license you must have a license file on the ANM server and install it through the command line:

No other way to do it.
License file can either be copied to the ANM file system, or you can create a new empty license file on it and copy paste the license file content.
If you have no access to the ANM server through CLI, then a workaround might be:
     - install a new VMWARE machine where you have CLI access.
     - install ANM on it
     - copy license (other you copy the file through any means or you create a file and edit by copy pasting the license file content)
     - install license with the command /opt/CSCOanm/bin/anm-license install /path/ANMxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.lic as described in the link above
     - save the VMware image
     - deploy the same VMWare image to the ESX where it has to be installed and where you have no access to CLI neither you can copy a file.

ESA Centralized Management License

Hi all,
my customer provides single ESA Appliance and would like to produce another one (either physical or virtual). I can see there is no Centralized management license on existing single ESA (wiht dual ESA it was automaticaly added in the past). Can somebody point me, how to obtain (order) centralized management license for existing ESA to be able to make configuration cluster with future ESA?
As I understand it right way, there should be no problem to provide configuration cluster with hybrid ESA (Physical and virtual) - Is it true?

For the virtual appliance - you will need to assure that they build the centralized management feature key into the license XML, and re-provide a fresh XML for your vESA, based on the VLN associated to the vESA. To get this information - please run 'showlicense' on the CLI.

Configuration Manager & Licenses for AIX, Linux

All,
I have read the SCCM 2012 licensing document (System Center
2012 Licensing Pricing and SKU Overview) but I'm still unable to understand the content. Does one pay, having a datacenter license, for every configuration manager client used on each device (based on cpu) and does this also count for the SCOM
client?Or having paid for the scom client means that the configuration manager client is covered as well.
Also, how does this model applies when installing a client on an AIX LPAR which is part of a Power 5 or Power 6 system. (with for example 64 cpu's). Does this simply mean the need to have 32 CAL's ?
Bit confused about the following statement in the document "SC 2012 Datacenter allows for any # of managed OSEs per license."

to get a valid legal answer, I would recommend to contact your licensing Partner.
But from my Point of view:
You are right, for the Server with 64 cpu's, you will Need 32 System Center 2012 R2 Datacenter/Standard Server Management Licenses. But then, all available Clients are usable (SCOM, SCCM, DPM)
The Statement simply means: When you have a datacenter license, which only has to cover the requirements of the cpu's, it doesn't matter, how many virtualized Systems (OSE) are running on this Server, on all of those OSE's you can use the System
Center Clients (or manage them without). Other than with Standard, where you got to check, if you have to license the cpu's or the OSE's.

Enterprise Manager Licensing

so I have read the whole document "Oracle® Enterprise Manager Licensing Information 12c Release 1 (12.1) Part Number E24474-06" ( http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E24628_01/license.121/e24474.pdf ), and still I have no idea whether we can use Enterprise Manager Cloud Control in our environment without purchasing additional licenses.
In detail, we have several Oracle databases, some with Standard One, some Standard, some with Enterprise license, some EE databases have also additional options and packs, others have no options or packs licensed. The Cloud Control would be a single instance installation without any advanced options or packs.
Among others, I have read the following things in the documentaion:
- Enterprise Manager includes a restricted-use license of the Oracle Database for use as the Oracle Management Repository only.
- For each target listed, you can enable or disable the management packs associated with the target.
and
- The base installation of Enterprise Manager Cloud Control 12c includes several features free of charge with the purchase of any Oracle software license or Support contract.
My questions now are:
1. From what I understand is, when I own any Oracle software license, I have also a license to install and use Oracle® Enterprise Manager Cloud Control, and I can use this installation to administer all targets in reach, as long as the target I manage has an appropriate license, regardless who is the license owner of the target (we don't own the license of some targets)?
2. I an earlier release documentation I have read that I can use an Oracle Database as the Enterprise Manager repository and RMAN catalog, but I cannot find it anymore in the current documention, is this still valid that the license for EM repo and RMAN catalog is free of charge?
3. I plan to use EM and to not buy a license, so where can I find some valid comprehensive information, without asking someone who is specialised on selling licenses? Why isn't it covered in depth in the actual documentation?

Storage & Fabric manager license

We have 5596's which are connecting fc/npv to brocade. We have the following licenses:
n55-8p-ssk9 ---> i hope it means that there can be max 8 ports between n5k/brocade for fiber channel connectivity? we also have a lot of server fc ports connecting to n5k, and they arent a part of this license right?
N5000FMS1k9 - fabric manager license --- really expensive though

For L3 operations L3 daughter card should be used.
At the moment only Nexus 55XX series switches support this module.
Also in order to enable this module following license should present on N5k device:
LAN_BASE_SERVICES_PKG - it's free and lifetime.

How do you manage license aquisition?

I'm interested in how other people manage confirming that a valid license is in place for new projects?
Currently our stated policy is that the DBA has to see a copy of the purchase order before performing an install, however this results in the perception that the DBA team is a roadblock standing in the way of progress. It also means we get dragged into endless tedious discussions about how expensive everything is and how we should use postgress/MariaDB/colon delimited flat files etc. instead of oracle. The reason we ask for the PO is because its us that end up producing data for Oracle if/when we get audited and blamed if there are any discrepancies.

In some cases it may be worth to use something else, not Oracle, for some needs. You do not need a nuclear rocket to kill a bird.
However, whoever requests a database that is different from enterprise standard, not supported by DBA department/team, should realize that their will be on their own, ending up without proper enterprise backup, support, maintenance etc.
If they do not have resources for licensing and maintenance, they should plan resources for other ways of support, and should take responsibility for their data integrity.
Of course, all this should be reflected in policies.

Can anyone please tell me if Cisco CME Voice Recording licences need to be annually updated?
Also Call Manager Express licences cover the users indefinitely?

Cisco Unified CME Permanent License
When you purchase a Cisco Unified CME permanent license, the permanent license is installed on the device when the product is shipped to you. A permanent license never expires and you will gain access to that particular feature set for the lifetime of the device across all IOS release. If you purchase a permanent license for Cisco Unified CME , you do not have to go through the Evaluation Right to Use and Right To Use (RTU) licensing processes for using the features. If you want to purchase a CME-SRST license for your existing device, you have to go through the RTU licensing process for using the features. There is no change in the existing process for purchasing the license.
The Cisco Unified CME permanent license is available in the form of an XML cme-locked3 file. You should get the XML file and load it in the flash memory of the device. To install the permanent license from the command prompt, use the license install flash0:cme-locked3 command. The cme-locked3 is the xml file of the license.
Collaboration Professional Suite License
Collaboration Professional is a new suite of licenses. The Collaboration Professional Suite can be purchased either as a permanent license or an RTU license.
Collaboration Professional Suite Permanent License —When you purchase the Collaboration Professional Suite license, by default, the Cisco Unified CME licenses are delivered as part of the Collaboration Professional Suite. You do not have to separately install and activate the Cisco Unified CME license. The Collaboration Professional Suite permanent license is available in the form of an XML file. You should get the XML file and load it in the flash memory of the device. To install the permanent license from the command prompt, use the license install flash:lic_name command.
Collaboration Professional Suite RTU License—When you purchase the Collaboration Professional Suite RTU license, you do not have to go through the Evaluation Right to Use process. Hello,
some older Sun storage subsystems (eg. SSA) shipped with Veritas volume manger. The license was bound to these systems, some sort of voucher was included to get the license (file or key) from Sun or Veritas.
Sorry, there is and was no free license.
Because we had a service contract for the subsystem, we got frequent updates for volume manager.

I have one solution manager server with AS ABAP and AS JAVA.But the license is expired for the J2ee engine.
I want to generate the license key for that, but the issue is the solution manager installation is not registered in the service market place, so how i will generate the license key?
In the process of license generation, I need to select the system for which i want to generate a permanet license.But the system is not available at the service market place.
To generate the license key the installation and the SYSTEMSID should be available at the service market place which is ususally done by a solution manager but how to do all these for a solution manager.

To get a license key for your Solution Manager system just go to:
https://websmp201.sap-ag.de/licensekey
Select the appropriate installation number and create a new system (your solman SID). After that you are able to request a valid license for your installation.
A separate J2EE license is not necessary for a Java AddIn/Double Stack Installation.
