Managing multiple Apple IDs in the office

Hi folks,
I'm at a small design studio, with 17 Macs. At the moment staff use their personal Apple IDs for updates etc - the problem with this is we have various freelancers who come in and use different macs. Is there an easy way to manage Apple IDs for multiple Macs - ideally…
An Apple ID would be associated with the Mac, not the user's email address. This would solve the problem we currently have when people leave or join the company, and when we have freelancers in.
Could we set up an office 'IT@…' email and use the same Apple ID across multiple Macs? How would this affect purchases of software - iWork for example - where we'd want that software purchased for multiple Macs?
What I really want to avoid is having to tie each Mac, and its software to a specific email address - which may be out of date in weeks or months.
Thanks in advance for your help.
Rob

You should speak to the folks at the Apple Business division about volume licensing for businesses. The way you currently are doing it also violates the Mac App Store Terms of Agreement which only issues you a consumer license. They can also give you advice regarding deployment of software over multiple Macs at once

  • Can multiple apple IDs have the same billing address??

So yea is it possible for multiple or more than one apple IDs to have the same billing address, like those created for use by members restrictively within a specific family for example??

It is possible but no more than 3 different Apple IDs for the same credit card. If you need more than three (more members of the family or a small business with 4 or more people who need individual Apple IDs) you can use one or more iTunes gift cards instead of a regular credit or debit card.

  • How can i create multiple apple ids from the same mac

There seems to be a limit on how many apple ids can be created from the same cpu. Trying to create 100 apple ids for a client to use on ipads distributed to employees i found i could only create three or four before i got the message account cannot be created, contact itunes support. Had the same problem creating multiple itunes accounts through the App Store.

I found this discussion because I need to create dozens of Apple IDs for the faculty and staff of the school for which I'm the IT Director.
    This is weak.
Apple, PLEASE upgrade the Apple ID system so it represents the current needs and paradigm.
What am I thinking, Apple (like Google) don't follow user discussion forums, except by accident when an employee sees something and is motivated enough to carry the water for users in need.

  • Multiple Apple IDs on the same computer

We have three separate Apple IDs in our family and I need to store the iTunes media for each on the same desktop (under separate Windows user accounts).  When I start to download the media for a second account on the computer, I get a message that the computer is already associated with an Apple ID and if I continue the download, I won't be able to download content for the first account for 90 days.  How do I set up the respective Apple IDs and iTunes libraries so all three users can store and access their own content from their individual Windows accounts?

  • Is there any way to combine multiple Apple IDs for the same individual?

I have two Apple IDs, one of which has a .mac email address. Both have the same name and physical address. With the new iTunes and the coming iCloud, it would be convenient to combine the two for purchase history and access, app updates, etc.
    How can I do this?

So far it seems you can't.
The only thing that becomes a problem would be purchase history I guess, but you can use Home Sharing in iTunes on your computer to share any purchases from one account to the other.

  • Managing multiple Apple IDs and multiple computers

My wife and I have two apple IDs and we have two laptops (an Air and a MacBook Pro). I use my ID for my purchases, and she uses her ID for her purchases. We chop and change the computers depending on what we're doing (although I tend to use the Mac Book Pro, and she the Mac Air). Each of us has our own login on each of the laptops. We both have significant 'libraries' of content for each Apple ID.
My question is this - I logged in on the MacBook Air with my login and attempted to dowload from iTunes via iCloud using iTunes Match a TV episode I had only part watched on my MacBook Pro. I recevied a message saying the Air was associated with my wife's Apple ID and if I downloaded the show, she wouldn't be able to download any of her past purchases for 90 days.
    What complete madness is that?
We have so many apple devices (we both have iphones, ipads, an apple TV at home and the two laptops) and use our separate apple IDs for our purchases, syncing, photostream etc etc.
Now, when I want to do something really simple like watch a show on my other laptop I can't unless I block my wife for 90 days...
Am I doing something wrong? Or is Apple's policy really lacking in any commonsense! Keep in my mind Apple's insistence that each person should have their own apple ID....
Thank you in advance for your help/suggestions.

I'm not surprised you haven't seen them on here. The search in these forums is abysmal. I don't remember which I'd seen on here, and can't find it again myself.

I had a harder time finding out which apple ID an invited family member should use if they have two IDs in the same way that you and I do. It seems that the invited person can do the same - join the family share group with their iCloud ID, then specify the different Apple ID they have been using for their purchases.

  • How do I manage multiple Apple IDs on one iMac

We just purchased my oldest child her first personal iPod Touch 5th gen.  Up until now, we have all managed our music/devices (2 nanos, 2 iPhones, iMac, iPad, and now Touch) on our iMac under one Apple ID (mine!).  We use this ID for everything from Apple TV purchases to iTunes to apps etc. as one big pool all charged to one credit card.  Now that my daughter has her own Touch we want to allow her to redeem gift cards to buy things (rather than go to credit card).  The problem is, her Touch is now somehow (automagically) synced to MY Apple ID - I am guessing because we plug it into our iMac and downloaded all the OLD songs she had from before.  Is there anyway that my daughter can have a separate Apple ID than our main one and still manage them both on our iMac??

    Settings>iCloud
    and Settings>iTunes and App store
You  have to sign out of ID (for iCloud you delete the iCloud account from the iPod) and sign in with other ID.
If the iPod has iOS 7 then you have the enter the password for Apple ID presently sign in Settings>iCloud.

  • Managing Multiple Apple IDs

    Hi everyone,
I'm sure this question has been dealt with a million times on these boards, so I apologize in advance.  For years, I used an MSN email address as my Apple ID and primary email address.  However, I no longer use that email address -- now use Gmail primarily -- and updated my Apple ID accordingly.  After the fact, I discovered that the apps I downloaded and purchased using the old/MSN Apple ID will no longer update on my iPhone or iPad unless I log out of the new/Gmail Apple ID and log back in under the old/MSN Apple ID (and vice versa I'm assuming).  Is my understanding correct?  And if so, is there another way to go about this?  For example, if I delete the apps I downloaded and purchased using the old ID and re-download them using the new ID, will I be able to update them on the iPhone and iPad using the new ID?  Any other recommendations for managing this issue?  Thank you in advance.

Ummmmm, you are giving us conflicting information here.
If you just changed the name of your Apple ID, that's one thing, but if you created a new Apple ID that is another. You first posts tends to tell us you must have created a new Apple ID, but maybe you are confused in there somewhere.
Log into both Apple ID's and let me know what you see when looking at your history:

  • Can multiple apple ids share the same computer?

Would my children have the same access to music and apps we've downloaded if they open their own and login with their own apple i.d. account?

Only if iTunes is using a "shared" folder for EVERY user's library under EVERY user account. Even then, you will probably encounter problems with "authorized" content for one account being unavailable for others.

  • Can multiple apple IDs share the same library on the same computer?

We have four devices using the same apple ID. Kind makes same time and messaging all messed up.  So I want to create a separate ID for my wife for her devices, but use the same library and applications. Is that possible?

  • TS1741 How do I have multiple apple IDs on one Apple TV 5.3

I have looked and looked but I can't find a way to put both mine and my boyfriends apple IDs onto this Apple TV that I just bought him.  It's the 5.3 version, I went under general, settings, and then iTunes Store, and there isn't a accounts option, it's just a sign in option so how can we both use our phones as remotes?

Well, you could save multiple Apple ID on your Apple TV, but you can't use them at the same time!

  • Multiple Apple IDs and Family Sharing

i am using the multiple Apple ID setup with an old pre-iCloud Apple ID for purchases (to keep my preexisting music) and a new Apple ID for my iCloud data and new email, etc. I am set up per the Apple support article on multiple Apple IDs.
now the Family Sharing has been released, I would like to merge the two accounts. Will Apple be providing a way to do this?

Multiple Apple IDs (2) with Purchases & iTunes Match. Apple TV Purchases. Not happy to have to log in/out to view and enjoy my Purchase Contest. What's the solution?

    Hi
i ran into the same problem. surprisingly though, i am not using multiple apple id and just one mac.
i did change both the account (apple id) and the computer (from pc to a mac server), but home sharing is on and the apple tv (1) is synced with the new computer.
i can connect to the itunes store and browse through it (signed in at all times). i cannot purchase any content and cannot play transferred rentals from the computer (apple tv is not authorised...)
somehow, it seems the apple tv was stuck with a previous id.
i have just now re-authorised my computer on the account and will give the apple tv another try. i did notice a message during the re-authorisation process. the apple tv is being authorised. this gives me hope.
in any case, your setup seems to be a dream come through. i decided to phase out my high end multiroom linn kivor system (over 20k back 6y ago) to an itunes based system. apparently you managed to build something.
i tried an itunes based nas but gave up due to complex operation (and overheating on top) and went for a mac server. i will be using windows clients though.
most of my content is cd based. can you sync purchased content between pc's? or with a server?

I subscribed to iTunes Match and would like to sync my music on multiples devices that have different Apple IDs within the same iCloud family.
Can someone indicate the way to proceed?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
You can't use family sharing or multiple Apple IDs with iTunes match.
ITunes match is only attached to Apple id that you used to subscribe.
