Managing multiple database in 10g enterprise manager without Grid control

Hi,
How do we manage multiple databases using oracle 10 g enterprise manager?.
Do we have any java console EM, so that we can add databases as in 9i EM?
Thanks and regards
Suresh HT

Grid Control is the replacement for 9i EM. Without GC, you'll have to manage each database using its database control which isn't good if you have many many databases.
On the client CD, there is a java console you can install which has some packs like change manager but this console is only there temporarily. My understanding is it's there for some features that haven't been added to GC.

  • Handling multiple database with 10g CONSOLE

    Hello list,
    How do we handle multiple databases with 10g Enterprise Console?
    We are running Oracle 10.1.0.2.0 on Windows 2003 server. I have one database setup but I need to install more databases and am having difficulty accessing and managing the second database. thanks for your input.

    may be you can try the following:
    1) create a file named new_target.xml with the following:
    <Target TYPE="oracle_database" NAME="DBAPV9.WORLD" DISPLAY_NAME="DBAPV9">
    <Property NAME="OracleHome" VALUE="/opt/oracle/app/oraadm9i/product/9.2.0.4"/>
    <Property NAME="UserName" VALUE="sys" ENCRYPTED="FALSE"/>
    <Property NAME="password" VALUE="thepassword" ENCRYPTED="FALSE"/>
    <Property NAME="Role" VALUE="sysdba"/>
    <Property NAME="MachineName" VALUE="machine.domain"/>
    <Property NAME="Port" VALUE="1521"/>
    <Property NAME="SID" VALUE="DBAPV9"/>
    </Target>
    replace as appropriate
    2) Execute emctl config agent addtarget new_target.xml
    3) Execute emctl stop dbconsole
    4) Execute emctl start dbconsole

  • Disk 1 of Enterprise Manager 11g Grid Control not downloading correctly

    Hello, I'm downloading Enterprise Manager 11g Grid Control.
    The first disk, of three, does not download correctly:
    GridControl_11.1.0.1.0_Linux_1of3.zip
    On the web page, its size is listed to be around 1.3 GB.
    However, when downloading, it thinks its actual file size is only around 643 MB.
    So only that much gets downloaded.
    But after downloading, this .zip file cannot be opened, it does not appear to a valid .zip file.
    Please investigate and fix this.
    Thanks
    Eugene

    Please check from edelivery.oracle.com . You need to unzip all the zips under one dir.

    where can I download the agent for 11g database for 10.2.0.4 grid control? i can't find the link.

    I don't think there is one yet, but you can use Grid Control 10gR4 to monitor a 11g database. Please refer the certification matrix in Note 412431.1 Oracle Enterprise Manager 10g Grid Control Checker

    Can I install Only Oracle Enterprise manager console 11g not grid control separately to the Database server.

    If yes, what should I do?In Oracle terms, there is a world of difference between Installing and Configuring.
    If you want to Install Database Control to a different location, the answer is basically 'No' (from what I can tell).
    If you want to Configure Database Control at a different time than the database, then you use emca. However, it depends on the ORACLE_HOME of the database and generally can not be configured to a differnert location or computer. That is one reason for using Gr\id Control.

  • Transfer live VMs from one Manager to Grid Control Manager?

    I've installed EM 10.2.0.5 with the Virtual Server extensions. I've got my current VMs (V2.1.2) attached to a standalone VM Manager (V2.1.2).
    Can the VMs be moved to the EM manager while live and in production? What is the best procedure?
    When I tried to create them in the EM manager, I was informed that they were already attached to another VM Manager.
    Thanks for any help...

    Didi you check MOS Note: How to Enable Oracle VM Management Pack in EM Grid Control 10.2.0.5 [ID 1125013.1] ?

  • Can I make a Data Guard configuration using EM console without Grid Control

    Can I make a Data Guard configuration using EM console without Grid Console?
    Can I download Grid Console software from Oracle website without cost?

    Assuming this is for 10g,
    You could use Oracle® Data Guard Broker
    Even you can download Grid Control software for free from Oracle site, you can't legally use it without license.

  • Repository Database shows at wrong version in Grid Control

    Hi all,
    I have successfully installed Grid Control and have upgraded the repository database to version 10.2.0.3. When I log into sqlplus to check the version number fit shows 10.2.0.3, but when I look at the database in Grid Control it is displaying as 10.2.0.1.
    Does anyone have any idea why that would happen? Where does GC get its information from?
    Thanks,
    Paula

    It is also worth mentioning that when I used DBUA to upgrade the repository database from 10.2.0.1 to 10.2.0.3 the EM config part failed. Having googled this it seems that this is fine for a Grid Control repository database, as it does not have an EM db console element to it anyway and therefore it cannot be upgraded, but I thoguht I best mention that in case it has a bearing on this issue.
    thanks,
    Paula

    http://localhost:1158/emHere it is 1158. For the 2nd db, there would be another port number assigned. All you have to do is to use the correct port number and you would eb able to use the 2nd db with EM. All the port numbers are in teh files, portlist.ini which will be under Oracle_home/install folder.

  • Oracle Wallet Manager and Grid Control

    Can you use OWM for Grid Control? Or is it more recommended to use WebLogic?
    I am unable to log into EM due to certificate issues (unless I create an exception in my browser). I have my certificates generated and have put them in OWM...but I'm still having no luck. I'm not sure if I'm even supposed to be using OWM for EM...
    Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

    By default certificate generate/set during installation, it seems your installation is not successful. please check

It can monitor and email as specified. It doesn't cost any extra. If your client has Oracle 10g, then he has, and has paid for, dbcontrol. If they don't know that, you owe it to them to show them.

  • Oracle Enterprise Manager Database Control VS Grid Control

    What is difference of Oracle Enterprise Manager Database Control and Oracle Enterprise Manager Grid Control?
    How I can install it manually?
    Thanks

    What is difference of Oracle Enterprise Manager Database Control and Oracle Enterprise Manager Grid Control?
    How I can install it manually?Dbcontrol is for single database as Grid control is for multiple databases.Dbcontrol has limited features than Grid control that goes beyond database administration to monitor other targets that include Operating system and application servers, web application, High availability (data guard) configurations. Database control comes with oracle server license but Grid control is a separate product it required separate license. If you want to use basic features then you can turn off the licensed packs in Grid control and use free product.
    Install Grid Control as doc:http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B16240_01/doc/em.102/e10953/installing_em.htm

  • Configuring Grid Control on 10g R2

    Hi
    Current Envt : Oracle 8.1.7/Win NT.
    We are going migrate to 10g R2 ,
    In the current 8i environment, we have a EM database which manages RMAN backups of a couple of Other databases.
    And we monitor these backup jobs through this Enterprise Manager 2.2.
    Also, using this OEM 2.2, iam able to monitor all the existing databases .
    Coming to 10g R2 (10.2.0.1)
    i realized that Enterpise Manager (web based) is only for a single instance.
    And i read some where that 10g Grid Control would be helpful for multiple databases.
    and how to access the Grid Control..and configure multiple databases on it.
    Currently, i installed Grid Control 10.1.0.5 by giving the path as
    E:\app\oracle\product\10.2\em_1
    However, iam not able to figure as how to bring up the Grid Control.
    I wanted to know if someone can provide the steps on how to install (if i have been doing anything wrong ?
    Whether while installing i have to give the same $ORACLE_HOME as with the database ?
    I also tried the same way as regular DBcosole ie., http://localhost:port/em
    In addition, while creating the DB using DBCA, i selected the Grid Control Option.
    Please suggest as how to proceed further.
    Thanx

    You probably didn't install the DBconsole.

    For this option to work, you need to have Grid Control operational. First start with selecting only DBConsole...this way you can manage your database. After you get Grid Control installed and the agent is working properly, you can stop the DBConsole service and use Grid Control to manage your target database.
