Managing playlists

Hi,
I have trouble managing playlists in Test Explorer.
Steps
1) I add a playlist with tests.
2) I commit them to the source control (TFS or SVN)
3) The other person gets latest from source control.
4) The playlists are there but there are no tests in the playlist.
For the time being, we are managing all our tests using playlist.
It will be great to have a solution.
Thank you.

Hi NewbieVSTSTest2013,
>>The playlists are there but there are no tests in the playlist.
Do you mean that you could get the .playlist file?
The test project is different from the .playlist file, I mean that if you check out the playlist file to your local machine, whether you check out your test project with it? The test mehod is in your test project. The .playlist file just is a file which
include the informaitn like:
<Playlist Version="1.0"><Add Test="UnitTestProject1.TestClass1.TestMethod2" /></Playlist>
For example, if I copy a test project from one machine to another machine, and then I open it in VS IDE, I could get all test methods in test explorer window if I build my solution, but if I want to get the playlist, I need to openthe playlist file
from my solution.
If I have misunderstood this issue, please feel free to let me know.
Best Regards,
Jack

We have multiple devices in our household that use the same Macbook Pro.  We all like different kinds of music and we are now having a difficult time trying to manage the playlists on the different devices.  How do we manually manage playlists for each separate device?  We have iPhones, iPads and iPods.

    Hi,
Thank you for posting in Windows Server Forum.
Here adding to the words of “Tim”, a forwarder is a DNS server on a network used to forward DNS queries for external DNS names to DNS servers outside of that network. You can also forward queries according to specific domain names using conditional forwarders.
A DNS server on a network is designated as a forwarder by having the other DNS servers in the network forward the queries they cannot resolve locally to that DNS server. You can refer information regarding forwarders and how to configure from beneath link.

  • How do I manage playlists with the new iTunes on PC?

What is up with this new interface?  I can find no provision for deleting playlists, removing items from playlists, creating new playlists, etc.  Where are all the functions for managing playlists?  No + marks, no menu items, right click does not include "delete" or "add", dragging does not work, etc.
It was bad enough when they moved playlists off into their own interface, now even that has disappeared!

Oh, good grief!  Talk about counter-intuitive!
There is only one way to access the new playlist functions, by clicking on the music note icon at the very top left corner.  Clicking on the iPod icon does not work, clicking on a playlist title does not work, clicking on music note icon in the media list does not work, etc.
    F- for interface design.

Can't seem to find an IPAD that let's me control my playlists together...or let's me organize my videos (Karaoke) the way I want to.  Can someone help or direct me?
    Can't even find the old IPad for sale...I have a MB292LL with 4.3.2 (8H7)

I was wondering if anyone knew of a way to alphabetise the list of artist folders that comes up in the right half of the screen when using the Manage Playlists function, rather than having them in the order in which they were added?

  • Manage playlists on your ipod

due to my computer crashing I lost a lot of my itunes library.  I have more music on my ipod than my secondary laptop which also has itunes but only about 60% of my library and ipod.  Can I add my new music to my ipod and manage playlists from the ipod?

Unfortunately, manual management is pretty much a neccesity if you've got limited harddrive space, which is how I started out (30GB HD v. 40GB iPod).
I've now got a 120GB HD, but I still much prefer to manually manage songs and playlists. It offers more control over content for different listening conditions. E.g. I like making and tinkering with multiple playlists in iTunes, but I also like keeping playlists on my iPod to a minimum, so that I'm not searching endlessly for what I'm after.
To be sure, there's the risk that the iPod may crash, but it's a gamble I'm willing to make. *crosses fingers*

  • How do you manage Playlists on a manually managed iPod Classic?

I'm going to get an iPod Classic since I have a huge music collection.
Most of this music is not in iTunes, and won't fit on my computer.
I have read that I can set iTunes to "Manually manage music and videos" for the device.
Then I can simply drag and drop music onto the iPod from the Finder (e.g. from an external drive).
But I also want Playlists on the iPod.
(Not the songs in iTunes on some playlist -- just the listing of some songs.)
Can I compose playlists (that reference the MP3 files I am downloading) in some fashion,
and then drag them over to the iPod, and have it recognize them as playlists for the music
files that I have dragged onto the iPod?
I am imagining this would involve creating/editing some XML files with some magic names
or extensions and dropping them onto the iPod.  (Or, when I do this "Manually manage..."
thing and go into the device via Finder, will I see a folder there named "Playlists" or something?)
    Something like that?
How do you manage Playlists on a manually managed iPod Classic?
(I'm on Mavericks on the computer, of course.
I could boot Windows or Linux if needed.)

I have just found out how to do this:
    Connect your iPod:
Under DEVICES you will see an arrow (on the left hand side, next to your IPod. If you are unable to display your songs the arrow will be pointing to the right. By clicking on this arrow it will point down, all of your songs will appear. Under Preferences uncheck Auto Sync then you can manually add / delete.

The ZEN V Series Media Explorer was poorly designed. The "Manage Playlists" function should do more than just edit the tracks in a playlist; it should also be possible to rename or delete a playlist.

Create your design on one or more  master slides:    View > Edit Master Slide
    delete unwanted master
then save as a Theme:    File > Save Theme
Save as;  is achieved by pressing the option key then File > Save as...

  • 3 devices-one computer-managing playlists

We looked thru the other postings and can't seem to find this one answered.
The Apple store in Annapolis couldn't answer this either.
We have one computer, (2) Ipod Nanos and (1) ITouch, all using one Itunes and one Library. We're having problems manipulating playlists and the songs included.
We have playlists titled: Classical, Rock, Movies, BlueGrass, JacobsFavs, DaddysFavs, MommysFavs, MommyWorkout, DaddyWorkout. etc....
Let's say we have a song called "Yoga"
"Yoga" is located in more than one playlist: if the song is checked in one playlist, it's checked in ALL the playlists it's located in. If it's unchecked in one playlist, it's unchecked in ALL the playlists where it's located.
    We manually manage the playlists.
What are we doing wrong? is there a better way to manage the playlists and songs?
Do we need to set up multiple users on the computer, each with their own Library?
I use multiple databases at work along with other employees. We all have access to the data and we can 'pick' off the files we need into our home directories WITHOUT changing the data in the database.
Any help you could offer would be appreciated
    Thanks!
    d

*checking/unchecking is not the best way to manage playlists when you have multiple people/devices using the same ITunes Library on a single computer/single user.*
That would certainly be my opinion, others may disagree.
*a song needs to be listed ONCE in a Library on ONE playlist only? Unless you want it listed in multiple playlists for convenience sake (Oh yeah I want that song in YOGA and CLASSICAL).*
A song can be in as many playlists as you want. A playlist is just a set of shortcuts for want of a better word to songs that exist in your library. A single song in the library can be added to many playlists. (this is definitely an instance where unchecking can cause issues if the playlists belong to different people).
*Our current options based on Using Multiple Ipods on one computer are:*
*-create separate users on the computer with separate Libraries. This means figuring out how to import users' Libraries.*
That is an option, you can also create separate libraries within one Windows user account. To create or access a second (or more) library, hold down the Shift key in Windows when launching iTunes. In the resulting dialogue you will get the option to create a new library or navigate to the other Library.
Note: You can only have one Library open at a time and iTunes will default to the last library opened if you don't use the keyboard command to choose one. The new library will be empty until you add content to it. To get back to your original library you need to close iTunes and open it again while holding down the shift key, this time choose to open an existing library and navigate to its location. Multiple libraries can prove tricky when using multiple iPods, if you don't use the keyboard command you can risk syncing to the wrong library: Using multiple iTunes libraries -Windows
*do not use the checking option. Have the song listed only once. Use the Music Tab to select playlists for the device.*
I'm not sure what you mean by having the song listed only once. As I've pointed out one song can appear in many playlists so you only need one copy of it in your library. Each user can use whichever songs they want in the playlist or playlists which they are syncing to the iPod.

  • How can I manage playlists on my iPhone 6?

I just got my iPhone 6 and can't figure out how to create and manage music playlists!!
First I created one, added some tunes. but then I wasn't able to add more (the only editing options were to delete songs on the playlist or delete the list altogether).   I tried to create another list but this time the option didn't appear on the screen.
I've had a lot of problems w iTunes on my new phone, which is shameful given that Apple pretty much revolutionized this medium.  This is my first Apple phone; the last time I had an iPod touch, which was great.
Anyone else out there have the same issue?

If you tap on the playlist you want to edit you should see buttons along the top for "edit", "clear", and "delete"
If you tap "edit" you can delete songs from the playlist by tapping the red delete icon next to each song or you can add songs to the playlist by tapping the "+" in the upper right corner and navigating to the songs you with to add to the playlist.  When you are finished, tap "Done"

  • HT1386 How do I manually manage playlists on my iPod Nano? My iPod Classic get's a tab called 'On This iPod' in which I can manually manage playlists, my iPod Nano does not.

That is the option I get with my iPod Classic, from there I can manually edit my playlists as I chose.

  • How to manage playlist for Zen with Windows 7?

After upgrading to Windows 7 (with WMP2), I noticed that I can no longer make or edit playlists for my 32GB Zen with either WMP2 or the Zen Media Explorer. Anyone know if there is a solution to this, apart from installing another third party media manager?

    I have this problem too.
I can see my playlists, but cant modify them or add to them. I have been using winamp to create and modify new ones, but winamp doesnt recognise old .zpm types. Hopefully someone has found a fix for this... or better yet creative could release a windows 7 compatible media explorer.
I would gladly use another 3rd party media manager if it works with playlists properly on my Zen, but have tried many with no success.
