Managing podcasts in 4th Generation Shuffle

Hi,
I have no problem loading podcasts from Itunes onto my Shuffle, but it will only play the first 8 "titles" of podcasts. That is, if I have podcasts of 10 different shows, it'll play all the podcasts from the first 8 shows and will go back to the first title rather than go to the 9th title. Is that a set limit or am I missing something?
Thanks for any light you can shed,
Barb

If you want to automatically sync podcasts, isn't there a Podcasts tab (next to the Music tab) where you set that up, in iTunes (when you select the shuffle in the sidebar under DEVICES)?  That's where you should set up how (and what) you want for syncing podcasts.
Also, separate podcasts are handled like playlists on the 4th gen shuffle.  The podcast is equivalent to the playlist.  The podcast's "episodes" are equivalent to songs on a playlist.  To select to listen to a podcast, you use the VoiceOver button (press and hold) to have it read off the list of playlists.  The podcasts are listed after the playlists, and you can select the one your want.  You will then be "in" the podcast, and you can listen to individual episodes.
This article explain how VoiceOver works on a 4th gen shuffle.

My 4th generation shuffle will not play podcasts, even though they show as loaded on the legend on the left on the itunes site.  The shuffle is set to play everything in order. The type on the content is gray, thats strange.  And why the new annoying content format?

  • 4th generation shuffle isn't very resistant to sweat?

I've read several online reviews saying that the 4th generation shuffle stops working after the user has taken it to the gym a few times i.e. sweated on it lightly. Have people been experiencing the same thing? I have a 1st generation one which has lived through intense workouts for over a year with no problems.

I'd actually say it's the controller that's not resistant to sweat. Which should answer both your questions
Mine quit (or started diabolically controlling volume, fwd, rev, song info, etc) 15 minutes into the very first run i ever had it on. Let it dry out, all worked find until i ran with it again...Same issues.
Design might make sense, but execution on materials was hideously poor. Sadly they either deny the issue or just ignore that it's there.
Mine has been returned and I just use my Gen 2 (until i finally kill that one also).

  • 4th generation shuffle blinks orange constantly when plugged in, why?

When plugged in, my 4th generation shuffle doesn't ever go to green.  It constantly blinks orange.  It's new, is there a problem, or is this just different from the 2nd generation which I had before?

It's orange when it's charging, so nothing to worry about that

  • 4th generation shuffle

My 4th generation shuffle will no longer charge or be recognized by itunes.  I have the latest itunes updates and my other ipod works fine.  Is there a way to reset this thing?  Thanks

Are you using the original cable that came with the 4G Shuffle?  Are the connections on each end of the cable nice and snug?  How long have you left it to charge?
After leaving it to charge for some time have you tried resetting it?

  • My 4th Generation Shuffle - buttons are permanently disabled

My 4th Generation Shuffle seems to have buttons that are permanently disabled - I've tried the hold down for 3 secs thing and nothing.
It charges fine, and shows up in itunes fine too. When it turns on (either shuffled or loop) it goes green, blinks orange 3 times, then 3 times again with a 'click' sound that I assume means it's locking the buttons as they don't work - can't skip tracks or change the volume.
I've tried holding the play/pause button down, but no green light comes on, even if I hold it down for ages.
    Can someone help please?

If you have not Reset the shuffle since this problem occurred, first follow this procedure
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1655
If that does not help, you should probably do a Restore in iTunes.  Select the shuffle in the iTunes sidebar under DEVICES, and over to the right, go to the Summary tab.  The Restore button is there.  This will erase the shuffle, reinstall its software, and set it to default settings.
If the cause is a software or settings glitch, a Restore should fix it.  If a Restore does not help, there may be a hardware issue.

  • Can I use a 3rd and 4th generation shuffle cable to charge and sync a 2nd generation shuffle?

I have a 2nd generation ipod shuffle that belongs to my sister-in-law, but she cannot find the cable.  I was wondering if I purchased a cable, intended for 3rd or 4th generation shuffles, would it still work?

No.  It fits, but the connector is different.  This is the official replacement part
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MA694G/A/apple-ipod-shuffle-dock
There are also third-party replacements that cost less.  Some have a mini-dock, some just have the plug, and some don't even have a cable between the plug for the headphones jack and the USB plug.  Just read the product description to make sure it is for the 2nd gen shuffle.

  • 4th generation shuffle not working with windows 7 64 bit

  • IPod Touch 4th Generation shuffle problem

I have an iPod Touch 4th Generation and made the awful mistake of hitting shuffle by accident.  It seems to be permanently stuck in that mode now.  How do I turn the blasted shuffle off?  Is there any way to disable it for good?  Some albums just have to be heard in song order.

With an album playing, tap the album cover until you see the elapsed song time, then tap the shuffle symbol (it's directly under the song time) until it is white.

  • AC charger for 4th generation Shuffle

Ihave an AC charger which I used to charge a 2nd generation Shuffle. I have purchased a $th generation Shuffle. Will this charger work with it?? Output is 5 volts DC & 500 ma.

the store I found on the takeback site you listed (under Apple authorized Service providers) told me they will echange anything except look alike chargers. I gave in three chargers, look-alike and non-lookalike. They duly registered the serial numbers on the ipad and iphone and said they first have to "book it in" before they can do the exchange. They booked it in ON the October 18, 2013, so I get a call a few days later saying they looked at the chargers but "they are fine".
The takeback site doesn't actually say the charger first has to be deemed eligible, in fact it clearly states: "We are offering this special takeback program for any USB power adapter". Further, "We will ensure that these adapters are disposed of in an environmentally friendly way" seems to be the only stated reason to book them in, not to evaluate eligibiity. The spirit of the takeback in fact is spelt out on the said page when it mentions: "Apple Retail and Apple Authorized Service Providers cannot advise you on the authenticity or safety of your adapter", meaning there is no evaluation just a takeback.
A takeback which didn't happen, which hasn't made me safer, and only creates mistrust and an air of deception.
Please advise, what is the service provider meant to do in my case?

My ipod 4th gen. shuffle only makes a ping noise. It is fully charged and was playing. It stopped after a song and started pinging. Any button you hit it pings.

  • Connecting 4th Generation Shuffle to Bose System

Have new 4th Gen shuffle but obviously hasn't normal docking port the other Ipods have for Bose systems.
Is tyhere a piece of kit/convertor I can buy to use the 4th Gen shuffle on my Bose system?
    Many thanks.
    Phil.

Does the Bose system have a standard 1/8" stereo jack input labeled "AUX"? Or perhaps a couple of standard RCA input jacks for left and right inputs (typically one RED and one WHITE)?

  • 4th generation shuffle "USB Device Not Recognized"

After a trip to the Apple Store with my iPod in which they diagnosed my iPod as being a "dud," I happily came home to plug in my new iPod, which...LOW AND BEHOLD...displayed the same issues. Here is what is happening:
    1. I plug in my iPod Shuffle to my HP Pavilion running Windows 7.
    2. I hear that noise (boo-boop)recognizing that a device has been plugged into my USB drive.
    3. A message pops up in the right-hand corner of my computer that reads, "USB Device Not Recognized" at which point I click for more information.
    4. The detailed view shows the following message: "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)"
    What I've already tried:
    1. Uninstalling and Re-installing all of the drivers under the Universal Serial Bus Controller in the Device Manager.
    2. Running updates on iTunes and on my Windows Operating System.
    3. Updating iPod drivers.
PLEASE HELP! I am frustrated. I had a 2nd generation Nano that was stolen out of my car, but it worked fine for years. Also had an old shuffle (2nd generation) that worked fine with this computer/operating system. Any advice helps, I don't want to wait another 2 hours at the Apple Store only to be sent home with another device that doesn't work with my computer.

    Did you try this:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1925
It sounds like the Apple USB stuff is your problem. I would just do the full uniinstall and reinstall.
Make sure you connect directly to computer, not through a USB hub.
If none of that solves the problem, try creating a new user and see if it works when you log on as that new user. If it does work, you know you have something installed on your normal account that is fooling with the iPod.
