Managing remote clients
I'm going to a client site (retail) that has a number of remote shops. I don't yet known whether the machines get an IP address when they link in over VPN. That being the case how can I manage these machines? - I'm not familiar with PKI but I'm assuming
that you'd have to install PKI certificate on each machine ?? - advice welcome
Ian Burnell, London (UK)
Hi,
You can manage them over a VPN as well if you like, the clients will contact the SCCM site when the VPN connection is available. Your other option is as you write Internet Based Client Management, then you need PKI for it to work. More information can be
found here:

Managing remote clients via internet.
The question have maybe been asked before.
I have been speaking to Apple Support Sweden and UK and they give me different answers so now i would like to ask all the users of Apple Remote Desktop if what i would like to achieve with buying this software actually would works.
I have Clients all over the world, all mac users, and they are never at one place longer than 24h. They have no higher computer skills then getting online to check mail and all the rest they need to be able to use to manage their work life.
Would i be able to use ARD for accessing my client computers without having to ask them to contact the computer admin at the hotel or where ever they might be at that time and place to sort their port´s out.
To be able to store the users details for future use and just ask the client to if needed a "whatsmyip.com" and that would be all i would need to access them much like Skype finds its way trough any possible firewall without VPN tunnels and things. Just that Skype would not really be as professional and functional as ARD
Thank you all in advance.
Best regardsARD would be awkward to use with clients that are always roaming. You'd constantly be dealing with IP address and router/port issues, something especially problematical with hotels where firewalls often block the necessary ports (and hotel admins generally will not alter their firewalls to accommodate such use). I would instead suggest a service such as LogMeIn. These services generally work much better with clients on the move.

Hi,
You can export the client, as well but it will take long time too, depended to your client size. Please note that client copy operation should be performed by standard SAP client management tools, such as client export/import or remote copy.
Ask this question to SAP support first. Technically, you can choose many ways to copy a SAP client, but as far as I know that SAP will not support you (such as errors you faced during the client export/import or the problems related by the copy operation), if you use any other 3rd party tool while for the client copy purposes.

Hi,
I have performed a remoted client copy of ECP300 to ECQ system using
SAP_ALL Profile and the client copied successfully. After the client
copy some users are complainting that not all data moved over or there
are some major differences. I know the client copy finished but the
users are saying the client copy is not a exact copy of ECP.Are there
any functional or abap post configuration that needs to happen after
this remote client copy? From the client copy logs, it seem like all
the tables got copied over. Please advise as this is very critical.
I have attached 2 issues reported by users and the client copy log with
details. I have also attached the data dictionary differences of the 2
system ECP and ECQ using SCC9 --> RFC SYSTEM COMPARISON.

Error while trying to connect to weblogic from remote client
Hi
I was trying to connect to JMX MBeanserver from a aremote client using some sample code that was posted. Ive tried even the samples that I found in the Admin Guide itself. Im not certain if any server configuration is needed. Ive tried the below with all three protocols t3, iiop, http with the same result. I had also enabled IIOP on the server through the console.
I get an error when trying to conenct using the JMXConnection Factory i.e. at the last line of the following code:

Can no longer open Fabric Manager Web Client 4.7(2b)
Hello
I have recently upgraded from Fabric Manager 3.3(2b) to 4.2(7b). I followed the correct path, so went from 3.3 to 4.1 and then from 4.1 to 4.2.
The application opens but I can not browse to the localhost address on either http or https and there are no Cisco related services running, or, even available. Additionally, the server is no longer listenning on port 80 or 443.
Does anyone know of what might be happenning here because at the moment, trying to get to the server from itself, or remotely, just brings up a "page cannot be displayed" error.
Many thanks in advance
Anthony
p.s. I have rebooted since the rebuild.Hi
Yes, the PostgreSQL service has started but there is not even a Cisco Fabric Manager service visible, nor a Fabric Manager Web Client service. I can open Fabric Manager and it works, just no services and I cant open the Web GUI.
Thanks for replying

It doesnt work lazy loading with remote client (toplink)
I am trying to use lazy loading in a @ManyToOne field but I get an exception. I have been reading in some oracle tutorials that it's necesary use -javaagent:.../lib/toplink-essentials-agent.jar for that it works because this argument activate dynamic weaving in JavaSE. I have put this command line argument javaagent but it doesn't work. Why? Can I have to do another thing? I have done a lot of tests in base to comments read in another forums but I only obtains an exception.
Caused by: java.io.IOException: Mismatched serialization UIDs
NOTE: The server use toplink and the remote client query the entitties through a session bean of the server. Besides, I am using Glassfish (Sun application server and toplink).
Thanks in advance.
haykenAt first, thank you for your reply.
I know that I haven´t explained the problem too well. I have a stateless bean with one remote method that execute a query an returns an entity like this
@Entity
public class ModuloEntity extends Serializable
@Id
@GeneratedValue(strategy = GenerationType.IDENTITY)
private Long idModulo;
private String nombre;
@ManyToOne(fetch=FetchType.LAZY)
@JoinColumn(name="IdProyecto")
private ProyectoEntity proyecto;
The remote client invoke this method and in that moment I get this exception.

If I look the server log, I can see that the call has not been produced, it doesn´t show any exception. It looks that the object managed by the server and the remote client aren´t the same and the corba service doesn´t work when remote client call session method. If I change the ModuloEntity and remove the fetch attribute then all this process executes correctly. The problem is in this attribute.
NOTE: I am using the javaagent command line argument.

Error retrieving JDBC connection from remote client (WLS 10.0)
Hallo,
I get an error when I try to retrieve a JDBC connection from a WLS datasource using a remote client. My Weblogic server version is: WebLogic Server 10.0 MP1 Thu Oct 18 20:17:44 EDT 2007 1005184
I use the following code to retrieve the JDBC connection:
Hashtable<String,String> ctxEnv = null;
InitialContext ctx = null;
DataSource dataSource = null;
Connection con = null;
ctxEnv = new Hashtable<String,String>();
ctxEnv.put(InitialContext.INITIAL_CONTEXT_FACTORY, "weblogic.jndi.WLInitialContextFactory");
ctxEnv.put(InitialContext.PROVIDER_URL, "t3://localhost:7001");
ctx = new InitialContext(ctxEnv);
dataSource = (DataSource) ctx.lookup("datasources/XXX");
con = dataSource.getConnection();
When I execute this code with the weblogic.jar in the classpath everything works fine. However, when I put the wlfullclient.jar in the classpath which I created using the JAR Builder Tool I get the follwoing error:

Can please anyone tell me what's going on there? What really astonishes me is that the class mentioned in the stacktrace is neither present in the wlfullclient.jar nor in the weblogic.jar, but using the weblogic.jar everything works fine. Any hint would be appreciated so much ...
Here is the log written when is created the wlfullclient.jar:

you find out what jar you're
loading the InstrumentationSupport class from? That's
the original location of
the error, and that class doesn't exist in 10.0.Hi Joe, thanks for your reply.
First of all, let me clarify what we did and why we did it: We have a stand-alone client application that needs to communicate with a Weblogic server using the t3 protocol (we don't want IIOP or HTTP tunneling). According to the official BEA documentation (see http://e-docs.bea.com/wls/docs100/client/basics.html and http://e-docs.bea.com/wls/docs100/client/t3.html) we needed to create the wlfullclient.jar file. We did this using the Weblogic JAR Builder Tool (see http://e-docs.bea.com/wls/docs100/client/jarbuilder.html). Unfortunatley we discovered the problem mentioned in my original post when we tried to run the client with that wlfullclient.jar.
Regarding your classloading question: The InstrumentationSupportImpl class is located in the wlfullclient.jar, so it does exist in WLS 10.0 (it is also contained in the weblogic.jar). Unfortunately this JAR does not contain the required class "weblogic.diagnostics.instrumentation.InstrumentationDebug". I searched for this class and found it in the OSGI module "com.bea.core.diagnostics.instrumentor_1.0.1.0.jar" shipped with the Weblogic server. Obviously the JAR Builder Tool did not include the contents of this OSGI bundle into the wlfullclient.jar. I tried to include this OSGI bundle into the classpath of the client app manually (just for testing purposes), but this onyl resultet in another NoClassDefFoundError. This time the class "com.bea.objectweb.asm.Constants" could not be found.
What astonishes me is the fact that the connection retrieval works fine when we only have the weblogic.jar in the client applications classpath, but fails when we have the wlfullclient.jar in the classpaht. It seems that the t3 communication is handled completely different, depending on what JARs I have in the classpath. Also, JMS communication works fine in both cases (i.e. for the weblogic.jar and the wlfullclient.jar). The only thing that causes problems (at least as far as we have discovered) is getting a JDBC connection from a datasource. I simply fail to see why this is the case.
Best regards,
DirkInteresting. I hope the official support case solves your problem.
I would like to dig further, but it's too far afield for me with
the workload I have at the moment.

Manage Remote Desktop Settings
We have this set to "NO" in our client settings. However, I can right click on any client in the console and start the remote desktop client and connect successfully using RDP. So what exactly does the "Manage Remote Desktop Settings"
do?>Where I am still confused is what the settings apply to.
> And what if RDP is already enabled by
me manually on a Windows machine? Than setting it to "yes" or "no" has no effect?
If "Manage Remote Desktop" settings is set to "No", then the client leaves the settings alone. Devices should continue on with whatever they have set locally.
If "Manage Remote Desktop" settings is set to "Yes", then the client will change the settings on devices to enable RDP and, optionally, add permitted viewers to the local "Remote Desktop Users" group or require network level authentication. according
to what you specify.

Sorry if this has already been posted. I recently installed 3.1.2 on 10g xe and I am unable to find where I can allow access by remote clients. I remember on 2.1 that there was a section that allowed you to manage http-access. I've logged in as ADMIN and can't find it anywhere.
I needed to allow login page access by browser from another machine on the network. Setting this in sqlplus allowed me to enable that. To bring up the login page for the remote machine I use http://xxx.xxx.x.xxx:8080/apex as the url. Where xxx.xxx.x.xxx = ip address where APEX and 10g xe instance is running.

Managing DirectAccess clients in IPv4 only networks
We are in the process of implementing DirectAccess with Server 2012 R2. So far, it looks very promising. Clients can communicate from our management servers exactly as desired. However, we would like to provide a way for our Help Desk to connect to those
machines (for instance, to be able to initiate remote control).
ISATAP is technically no longer supported, as well as it seems there are some risks/challenges associated with it anyways. I was wondering if anyone has come up with any good solutions for this. Since it would just be for a few, I was thinking about also
configuring the server to allow inbound VPN for IPv6 only and just have our Help Desk users initiate a VPN connect to the server the few times this functionality would be necessary. Has anyone done anything like that? I haven't set up VPN in Windows Server
in at least 8 years, so any advice would be helpful. If you have any other suggestions, I'd also be happy to accept that.
Thanks!Start from Server 2008R2 the VPN become totally different from 2003, such as if you have Win7&Win8 client you need deploy the CA and more you'd better to learn some DA related deploy article first:

Issues with remote client accessing EJB3
Hi folks,
I tested Weblogic 10.3 these days and had some trouble to access a stateless session bean (EJB3) via a remote Java client. My development system is Windows Vista 32bit.
First, Weblogic doesn't like blanks in folder names! The Test Client throws an exception complaining that the business interface is not found:

at weblogic.ejb.container.internal.RemoteBusinessIntfGenerator.generateRemoteInterface(RemoteBusinessIntfGenerator.java:66)
In fact, the compiled class file of the business interface is located on the file system in a path that contains a blank. Debugging session shows that the internal weblogic class RemoteBusinessIntfGenerator fails to open the class file because of a wrong used URL file reference. If the path contains no blank, everything works fine. This is obviously a bug!
Second, generics don't work in the business interface. As soon as I insert a generic return type or method parameter, I get an exception at runtime, no matter if the actually called method is generic or not:
java.lang.NullPointerException

Third problem is already known by Oracle (CR373734): when using JPA and serializing entities to the remote client, serialization fails until you implement a writeObject() method in every entity.
What is your experience concerning these issues? For my opinion quite severe bugs...
Cheers, ThomasBut most of the O/S like Linux ,Solaries does not allow blankspaces in the classpath. Only the O/S that does allow is Windows. and there are a lot of issues regarding the spaces in the classpath.
If a blank in the classpath exist in the admin console as a remote start argument for a managed node, a patch exist.its CR375981.
But for the above case 808498 (blank for remote client classpath) Engineering did not given any patch and asked to go with the work around ie not to use a blank in the classpath.

Manage out clients are not accessible from intranet
Hi!
DA 2012 R2 works in NLB cluster in DMZ zone. I can access internet clients from DA servers (ping, RDP), but not from intranet management workstations (W7). Those workstations have ISATAP IPv6 addresses (from DA server(s)).
What can be wrong here, how to troubleshoot?
Thanks,
UVHi!
Again, briefly:
DA clients are out and configured for remote (manage out) management;
DA clients out there are registering their IPv6 addresses in DNS;
HTTPSTunnel is the only way to connect, DA server is in DMZ zone, no straight connection to internet from DA server.
Intranet management workstations have ISATAP address from DA server;
Intranet management workstations can resolove DA clients IPv6 updated addresses;
In clients outside users are logged on and need help over remote assistance;
Remote assistance is enabled on DA clients (and it can be offered from DA server);
Intranet management workstations no not belong to management servers group.
Intranet management workstations cannot connect to DA clients out there to offer remote assistance!
Why can it happen?

How is your remote copy going on?
Did you increase the size of psap temp in order to carryon with the copy?
Your Source system is PRD system.Are you doing this copy while users are using the PRD system.
If not then this may not be result of client copy? or
if no user is logged in in your PRD system,You have to decide if this is due to client copy.
Let me know what corrective measure taken by you to completed the remote client copy?
normally we dont get this dump in the source system but I have psaptemp around 30 GB or more in al my systems so may be this might have not surfaced in my environment.
Thanks

Remote Client Copy - Ended in Erros
Hi Friends,
We recently performed a Remote client copy. What we normally do is we restore an latest offline backup of the Prod into an instance built exclusively for performing client copies into our QA system.
So if our actual PROD is ABC ( production ), the replica system is ADC. We restore latest backup onto ADC. Then from ADC we do a client copy onto AQC ( Quality ). We have n number of clients in AQC. When copying into a particular client we are facing this problem of 3 tables not being able to get copied. They are BKPF,LTAK and SOST. It happened twice that the Remote client ended with errors.
It says "Read or conversion error". The detailed error looks like below ;
TAB_COPY_R_CONTINUE LTAK WITH KEY:
I01 0000066362
Read or conversion error system: ADCT500 table: LTAK
ERROR: Internal error when inserting in table: LTAK

Process 00002 has copied data 25.02.2010 19:09:00
Start: Recopy errors 25.02.2010 19:09:02
TAB_COPY_R_CONTINUE BKPF WITH KEY:

TAB_COPY_R_CONTINUE SOST WITH KEY:

Read or conversion error system: ADC500 table: SOST
ERROR: Internal error when inserting in table: SOST
Internal error: 2,594,254 180,224 VERIFY_CNT
We approached SAP and they asked to do a DB reorg, run update statistics on both source and target and then re run the client copy.
Well DB reorg is a big activity so we just updated the statistics and ran again the "recopying errors" but still it is the same problem.
Can anybody please suggest something. Thank you.
regards
Vinod KHi Friends,
My apologies for coming back to you guys so late. I kind of was lost to find a solution for this.
Hi Sanujit,
The database logs dont indicate anything at all about this error or i am not able to locate them.
Rajesh,
There was a table comparison done for these tables properties in both source and target and everything looked ok and confirmed by the application.
At this moment we have anyway decided to go a fresh client copy again as lot of time has already passed and there would be differences in source and target tables.
But anyway could you please tell me the procedure to transport tables between source and target systems?
Hi Anil,
SAP iS ECC 6.0 and Oracle is 10.2.0.4.0
Thanks again for your time and pateince.
