Managing service packs (All I want for Christmas)

There's been about a zillion service packs in the last year - and each time we apply a service pack,
we need to change the WL startup scripts. And at last count we had something like 100 WL instances.
So - are there plans in the future for service packs that won't require changing all these scripts?
( Yes, I did notice the bin/solaris/setenv.sh in 5.1 which simplifies things somewhat)
Mike

Thanks.
That's the problem with having a great product - people start nit-picking about the little stuff.

Yes. This will be addressed in version 6.0 service packs, as we have
adopted a new architecture that will provide greater quality and also
greater usability.

It was all going so well. The HH5 arrived 3 days ago, the phone line was switched on the right day, I've waited for the broadband switch until after midnight and....still In Progress!
The BT engineer is coming on Tuesday and I really hope the broadband is at least active by then so I can be left with a working connection. Actually I hope it comes on today and I can plug the HH in myself, I'm having to rely on my phones broadband connection.
Should I call the helpline to help this along or would I be wasting my time?
    Thanks

Have you tried plugging in the HH5, to see if it works?
The online tracking is not always up to date.
Unless you have ordered Infinity 2, then a home visit is not needed, as its self install.
It Openreach that do the work, so the BT helpline would be a waste of time.
There are some useful help pages here, for BT Broadband customers only, on my personal website.

  • All I want for my birthday is my jaxrpc-mapping.xml file.........;-)

I am using JWSDP 2.0 with JDK 1.5. I have developed an ant script for building my web service files. When the script runs, the command line arguments are passed to the wscompile:
wscompile -d C:\WorkSpaceForMyEclipse\WebService\WebContent\WEB-INF\classes "-features:rpcliteral, wsi" -g -import -keep -nd C:\WorkSpaceForMyEclipse\WebService\descriptors -s C:\WorkSpaceForMyEclipse\WebService\JavaSource -verbose -Xprintstacktrace -Xserializable C:\WorkSpaceForMyEclipse\WebService\WebContent\WEB-INF\wsdl\webservice-config.xml -classpath  <all the jar files from jwsdp project> <project jars>This all works well and good.
My problem is I am not seeing a jaxrpc-mapping.xml file being created.
When I add the mapping=${path}/jaxrpc-mapping.xml to the ant task, the builds break saying -mapping is not an option for wscompile....
Am I doing something wrong? Can some guide me in the right direction for creating the mapping file? When I try axis, the mapping file is created, but it is not populated with any mappings. All I want for Christ is my jaxrpc-mapping.xml file. :-)
Thanks in advance for reading my post. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

If you are using rpc/literal and jdk 1.5, you would be better off using JAX-WS which does not require a mapping file. JAX-WS is the next generation Web services API that replaces JAX-RPC. Check out http://jax-ws.dev.java.net.

    But the download for :
2983175 Cumulative update package 2 (CU2) for SQL Server 2012 Service Pack

There doesn't exist an SQL Express "Standard". It's two different editions.
For Express there are three 32bit/64bit editions:
Express, Express with Tools and Express with Advanced Services.
Express with Tools is essentially Express with Management Studio Tools, Express with Advanced Services adds also BI (Business Intelligence) + Reporting Services.
As for where you can apply the cumulative update, on the link you can see this:
Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Service Pack 2, when used with:
Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Analysis Services
            Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Developer

WLE does not have service packs, you must be using WLS - you should post this in a WLS newsgroup. WLE
and WLS are 2 separate products.

  • Help-urgent - how to update service pack and apply patches for ADS

    Dear all,
I've just download the sp 11 and the patch ,how should i update my ADS? I've try to search the forum but to no avail. Pls advise, thanks.
    Regards,
    Joan

    Hi Joan,
To deploy an SCA or SDA, proceed as follows:
          1. Make sure you have downloaded the SCA or SDA from SAP Service Marketplace.
          2. Start the SDM GUI. To do this, execute the following file:
                a) Windows: RemoteGui.bat in folder \usr\sap\<SID>\<instance>\SDM\program
                b) Unix: RemoteGui.sh in folder /usr/sap/<SID>/<instance>/SDM/program
          3. The SDM GUI screen appears.
Note: With SAP Web Application Server 6.30 the SDM server is started whenever you start the SAP system. To check whether the SDM server is running, use the tools SAP Management Console (Windows) or jcmon (UNIX).
          4. Choose "SDM Gui -> Login" or the icon "Connect to SDM Server". The dialog box "Enter Login Information for SDM Server" appears.
          5. Enter the following information:
                a) Password
The initial password is "sdm" (without quotes).
                b) User description (optional)
                c) Hostname
                d) Port
With instance number 00, the default port number is 50018. If your instance number is different from 00, the port number changes to
                Port = 50018 + 100 x <instance number>.
You have to calculate the new port number and enter it manually.
          6. Choose "Login". The SDM GUI appears.
          7. Choose tab "Deployment".
          8. Choose "Add SCA/SDA to Deployment List (Local File Browser)". A file selection screen appears.
          9. Select the SCA or SDA file you would like to deploy and choose "Next" to read the information on the following screens.
          10. Choose "Next" until the "Start" button appears.
          11. Choose "Start". After the SCA or SDA has been completely deployed, a success message appears.
          12. Choose "Confirm" to return to the SDM GUI.
          13. When you have finished work, log out from the SDM server. Choose "Deployment -> Logout" or the icon "Disconnect from SDM server" for this.
If this answers your question, please mark the question accordingly and do award points if helpful.

The only way you can get the computer is if you know someone in the US that will forward it to you, Best Buy does not ship internationally.
If you like my post, or solution to your issue/question, go ahead and click on the little star by my name and/or accept the post as the Solution. It makes me happy.
I'm NOT an employee of Best Buy, or Geek Squad, though I did work as an Agent for a year 5 years ago. None of my posts are to be taken as the official stance that Best Buy will take on your situation. My advice is just that, advice.
Unfortunately, that's the bad luck of any electronic, there's going to be bad Apples... wait that's a horrible pun.

    Hi all,
I'm trying to get all the users and their associated groups with the user management API. The method DirectoryManagerServiceClient.findGroupMembers(GroupMembershipSearchFilter)
returns all the users, great, but not the associated groups.
TO get the users i use the oid of a "super group" and this "super group" contains severals groups. It's the information about these groups i need.
I have read in the documentation of Principal Object that a search could omit
the group informations for efficiency. How can i bypass this limitation?
Thank you in advance for your help,
    Philippe Vandenhove

    Hi Philippe
Our CreateUser component will allow you to create local users and groups.
    http://avoka.dnsalias.com/confluence/display/Public/Create+User+Create+Group
LookupGroup takes a group name or id, and returns a list of all members. I'm pretty sure it recursively evaluates contained groups, but you'll need to check. If it doesn't, log a bug to support-at-avoka.com.

  • Anyone know when the 'Patch' or 'service pack' will be released for UDS 5?  It doesn't work correctly on Solaris systems.

When trying to export code from older versions of forte and import the code into UDS 5, the imports don't work correctly on Sun server, Solaris system. Errors in the Windows. Seems to be a common problem, but haven't heard of any patch yet.

The SP1 for UDS 5 or 5.0.3 will be out in 2-3 weeks. I already have a beta copy of SP1 so I am sure you can request this if you open a case on your problem. I have never ran into the problem you are describing.

I'd agree with Mike, go for the latest versions (from wls 10 onwards), we're using ALDSP 3.2, ALSB 3.0 and WLS 10mp1. I think you'd have to go back to ALSB 2.5 to run on WLS 8.1 and this doesn't have the performance or functionality. (we started with ALDSP 2.5/WLS 8.1 and ALSB 2.6/WLS 9.2)
