Managing the position of photos within an Album

I am unable to drag and drop photos within a Shared Album.  I was able to do this  previously.  Is this not possible in a shared album?

Photos has very limited sort order for any album. Generally, either by date and time, or manually. You can only change that on user created albums. Hopefully, future updated will provide more user control.
You're welcome

  • How do I change the order of photos in ipad albums in ios 8 ?

    Hi
I've just upgraded my ipad mini to IOS 8.1.  I want to create a slideshow in Photo (iPhoto no longer supported) but can't find how to change the order of photos within an album.  Has anyone any suggestions/ideas ?
    Many thanks

Open the album. Tap select. Hold your finger on the photo till it enlarges then slide it to it's new position. Tap done when you're finished.

Within an Album? Drag and drop.
You can't do this in an Event.

  • Rearranging photos within an album

    Hi,
I wanted to know if it is possible to rearrange the order of the photos within an album on an ipad or iphone?
    Regards
    Adam.

Cheers Ralph will check it out.
I have just found a bit of a resolution by creating a new album, and adding the photos i want in there one at a time in order that i would like them in.
I think holding the photo until it wiggles and moving it would be a good feature to arranging the order of photos in a similar way you arrange orders of apps on the homescreen.
    Thanks for your help

  • Rearranging photos within an album PSE13

I need advice  on how to  re-sequence photos within an album. I'm using PSE 13.  Drag and drop doesn't work.  I also tried: right click on an album >edit album. This allows me to rearrange the photos in the right screen panel but the changes do not seem to be incorporated into the album itself after I check-off "OK".  Any help is appreciated.
    THX,
    Vinny

    Please select the album.
Now Choose Album Order in Sort By options.
You should be able to rearrange the photos in that album.
    Thanks,

  • Can't drag & drop photos within an album in iPhoto6

I can't change the order of photos in an album by dragging. Looking at the other posts, I've fixed the Helvetica bug several times (by re-activating the font in Fonts Book) but it still doesn't work. When trying to drag, the photo will migrate to a strange place within the album, or not at all. Thanks for any help.

Thanks for your replies, TD. They are ordinary albums. I haven't made any smart albums yet. It's strange, sometimes when I'm trying to relocate a photo I'll see the cursor flash in another place on the page and the photo will migrate there. Sometimes there are no cursors at all.

  • How can I change the order of photos within an event?

iPhoto o9 won't let me change the order of photos within a single event- really annoying! I tried to view photos then click manual sort- but when I look back at the event it is not in the right order. what's wrong? Or can I even do this?

Yes you can do that - IF you go through and assign titles to every photo
You also can change the date/time on photo and iPhoto will then sort them in the new order
And you could assign unique key words to each photo such that the sort order is what you want and sort by key word
But you can not change the order in the sense most people mean - grab a photo and move it to a new location in an event
    So yes you are right

  • How can I keep the order of photos in an album when I upload it to Flickr?

When I share an iPhoto album on Flickr, the order of the photos in my album is lost. Apparently Flickr uses the photo date, but that defeats all the manual arranging I have done in my album. How can I preseve the photo order on upload?
Also, the description of each uploaded photo appears in small print and not in the main Flickr label box. This means the description cannot be seen if a photo is viewed in full screen mode. How can I automatically transfer the iPhoto descriptions to the main Flickr label boxes?
Is there a better way to share iPhoto albums on the Web (Picasso)?

I'm glad you found a solution
For for others and you in the future it is important to understand
Albums are a way to VIEW photos in your desired order within iPhoto - the photos do not have any order (in fact they are in files scattered essentially randomly accross your hard drive)
When you move the out of iPhotoand view them in another program that program determines teh order they are viewed in
An easy to see an example is the finder - files exported from iPhoto and viewed via the finder can be viewed in many different sort orders including name, date created, date modified, size, kind and label - none of these have any relation to the order the photos were in the album UNLESS you cause that to happen (like by exporting using sequential file names so teh finder name sort matched the album order) - the order you see photos in is totally determined by the program you are using to view them - if you understand how it views them then you may be able to export them so that the destination program view martches the iPhoto view
To make suggestions to Apple re exporting to Flickr (or any other outsidside service) -  iPhoto menu ==> provide iPhoto feedback - and to make suggestiont to thrid party suppliers like the Picasa export plugin contact the developer of that plugin

  • PSE 12 captions and numbering of photos within an album

On PSE12, can I make the caption I have given a photo to appear on thumbnail within an album?
Is it possible to not have the # of the photo within the album to appear in the upper left corner of the thumbnail?

No, the caption can't appear in the browsing space, but if you are using the full screen option (F11) the caption is shown.
Is it possible to not have the # of the photo within the album to appear in the upper left corner of the thumbnail?
The order of the photo is only visible if you are in 'album order'. In the other sorts (filename, chronological, batch import) it is not shown.

  • I'm unable to access photos  within an album...

...all it does is start to play the slideshow. Any suggestions?

So when you single click on the album it starts the slideshow instead of opening the album?
Create another album, move the photos to it and see if you can get it to work correctly.  If so just delete the problem album.  If you can't delete it apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Since only one option can be run at a time start with Option #3, followed by #4 and then #1 as needed.
    Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 - click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option.
4 - In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments.  However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

  • The last few photos in my album won't stay in order even though I have them numbered

I have added about 40 new photos to an old album, but the last few will not stay in order. There are over 700 photos in this album and have them numbered consecitivly. I have checked the numbering and have moved them back into position several time, but whenever I close iphoto and reopen it they always move back to the same spot, near the beginning of the album.

I found the problem. I went into view and there it has sort by and I chose Title and that solved my problem. It was weird that this only just started happening and it was only the last few of the Album I was doing.
Now I'm moving my album into imovie and the only problem I'm having so far is that the Ken Burn effect doesn't show what I want it to show on about 10% of the photos. ie, it will pan in on a photo of my mother & father's feet and slowly pan up to the shoulder before the next slide begins. Can you tell me how to adjust the panning so that the subject on the photo is in the imovie?
    Thanks, Gordon

  • Is there any way to position a photo within an email?

When I compose an email, the photo always goes to the bottom of the email, even after forwarded text.
Is there a way that I can get the program to let me re-position the photo within the text?
After some experimenting I discovered that I can cut and paste the text after the photo. That will do for now. But that will mean a lot of cutting and pasting if I want to add more photos or rearrange them.
Is there a setting somewhere that will allow me to drag the photo to the correct place the way I used to do?

I have now downloaded the .zip file, and extracted it. I have gone into Eclipse to try and import, but can find no .jar type file for which to import, and Eclipse can not "import javax.media.*;" because of this. I am using the sample code that came in the download, so there shouldn't be errors. There aren't any, except for importing, and the use of Classes that would have been imported.
Any ideas on how to actually import.use them?

  • Is it possible to rearrage the order of photos in an album

I've now succeeded in uploading my photos into separate albums, but even though I named the photos in each album as 1.jpg, 2.jpg, etc., they still do not appear in the order that I want them. Is there some way to get these photos in the order I want them in?

Wow! Apple's suggested solution for Windows XP users is "unusual".
So from that, I guess, if I want my five pound note to look like a fifty pound note, I simply change the information on the paper!
Their solution to this issue is even more unbelieveable when I noticed that previous versions of iOS sorted by filename. Still, it gave me my first laugh of the day, I'm off to re-write history...
