Managing which projects are in the timeline.

I'm sure the answer to this is trivial, except that I can't find it. (FCP7 guy finally coming to X)
I open a project in the timeline. Good. I open a second project in the timeline and I get the back & forward arrows to select which one to see. I open another project and I can control-click on the arrows to select which one to see.
But how do I CLOSE a project that is open in the timeline when I have too many open at once? I've done the basic search of the manual and the forum but can't figure this one out.
So the question is really this: IF three or more projects are open in the timeline, how do I close one?

I was not about to suggest compounds or storylines - though come to think of it... just kidding :-)
I understand what you are asking for, but I don't think there is currently such an option.
You can use the "Provide Feedback" command in the application itself to make a feature request.
I would think that going back and forth to erase items from the project navigation history might in the end be a bit clunky, though.
What I was going to suggest, though, is that if this is some kind of template, like a title, it would probably make sense just to create your own and have it there in the Titles (or Effects, or Generators, as may be more appropriate).
For example, if always do the same kind of modifications to a title, like changing font, size, position on screen, etc, then it makes sense to have your own version with all your settings as wanted, instead of doing the same changes over and over.
That assumes that you have Motion, or can have someone with Motion creating that title for you
(you only need Motion to *create* custom titles, effects, etc, NOT to use them)

AE CS4 Crashes when I drag media from the project panel to the timeline

Hello,
I have a problem dragging media from the project pannel to the timeline. Several times a day AE will crash when I do this. Currently I'm using the latest MAC Pro with 11 gig of Ram and Duel 27 inch monitors. Everything worked fine in CS3, but when I upgraded to CS4 I started having this issue. I have AE spread over both monitors. Could that be a problem? Are there any know issue with dragging? Any ideas?

Since there are millions of context-specific reasons why this could happen -and also considering it's not happening to the majority of users out there-, it would be really helpful if you could fill out the Adobe Crash Reporter dialog that pops up when AE crashes (it just asks for what you were doing when the app crashed, and your e-mail info). When you send that, it includes a report about the crash that can be very useful to help the engineers figure out why it crashed.
Here's a blog post on what kind of data is sent through the Crash Reporter and why is it so important that you fill it and send it, if at all possible.

L do not see an orange line in the browser for clips that are in the timeline. What do I do?

How do I get the orange line to show in the brewer for clips that are in the timeline. Mine doesn't show it.

I called Apple and said it is a glitch which caused me not able to see a registration key. They sent my $30 back so I will make another order of Quicktime Pro 7 to get registration key.

In the WAS under the Visual Administrator ---> Deploy Service or the SDM directly you can check up for the EARs/PARs deployed.

My Scenario is having a tablespace of 65G but the data is 5G and that is at the end of datafile for that we are not able to resize the datafile our though is to find out what are the objects at that end of datafiles and will either alter move <owner.tablename> move or alter index <owner.index> rebuld online.
For that how to find out which objects are at the end of the datafiles.

Ok, I think I'm on the right track now. I was finally able to inspect the HTTP requests coming in to my destination page, and I do see the notification post coming in, with the expected form data. How can I find which applications are using the most power?

I have recently noticed a full charge of power doesn't last as long as it used to on my iPad 2. Is there some way to determine which applications are using the most power?
I have been monitoring my home network router accesses and have noticed the iPad logs accesses every 15 seconds. This only happened recently. It had been well behaved and only accessing once or twice a day before. I installed the most recent iTunes upgrade, per suggestions during a Sync. The problems seemed to occur after this update. I have gone through all the settings and have minimized the applications requiring higher power (I switch off the location services unless I'm away from home. Likewise, I turn off my cellular carrier unless I'm away from home, etc.)
In short, how can I maximize my power usage (aside from turning it off)?

Thanks for responding so quickly.
I'm really trying to find out why the battery is depleting much faster than it used to all of a sudden. I used to be able to put a full charge on it and it would last about 5 to 6 days with normal use (normal for me). Now that battery only lasts about 2 to 3 days with the same use.
I DO recharge it when it needs to be charged but this is indicating there is something else (new) that is causing the power drain.

Are project files on the timeline?

I'm working on a CS3 PPro project and am currently at the stage where I'm overlaying a mammoth number of sound Fx's. In the course of review I've gone over and over and replaced sound clips on the timeline with ones I later thought were better than ones I originally put in. So in PPro in an 'editing' Workspace, I've got my Project Panel with all components neatly ordered in BIns. However in my 'SoundFx' bin I'm sure that there's a good number of sounds that I've erased from the timeline and hence will not use. I think it is wise to remove them from the Project Panel also?. Will it make any difference(?) & if I should how can I quickly check whether a sound file in a bin in the Project panel is in fact in 'use' on the timeline?

You can use the Project Manager to make a copy of your project while including only clips that are in use.
You will also find links to many free tutorials in the PremiereProPedia that will quickly show you how things are done in Premiere Pro.

I need to select a few fonts for our client to choose from that can be legally embedded into their software for distribution.
After reading this article:

it sounds like there is an Adobe 'Font Folio Select' that contains fonts we can use but I can't find any information about where to get hold of it.
I have spent hours hunting for fonts we can legally use and read lots of EULAs and still have no idea what fonts are available to developers!

Scrubbing different areas of the timeline.

In the thread, a way was created to scrub through an edge timeline. I was wondering, is there a way to scrub through five different symbol animations? I have five objects lined up from left to right, and when you touch one it scales full screen and starts the object's animation. You can scrub the video back and forth for each separately. I'm just starting to understand what each part of the code does. I can make it work with one animation, but I haven't been able to get it for all five yet.
Also, some smaller things. Is it possible to make the scrubber automatically move down the bar as the symbol plays from the beginning? Right now it stays still until I touch it, than I can scrub.

Yes, you can scrub through multiple different timelines with different scrubbers. There are several ways to do this. One way would be: on press/drag of each scrubber, filter the event through a switch statement and based on the scrubber ID, control the relevant timeline.
And yes, you can make the scrubber move as the timeline plays as well. Start a setInterval timer when the timeline plays, and set the x (css left) position of the scrubber based on the current frame label divided by total frames of the playing timeline. When the timeline stops playing, be sure to clear the setInterval!
Quasi-code, to put on Stage.compositionReady event:

I keep almost all of my library as referenced files on external hard-drives because of the small hard-drive that my MBP has. BUT over time I've added some pictures here and there that are stored in my Aperture library. I would like to relocate these pictures, but I don't know which ones they are.
I can go picture by picture and find them, but I would like an easier way.
Is there a way to find all the pictures that are stored in the aperture library?

Bring up the entire Library, for instance by clicking on the All Photos Album.
Open the search HUD and use the 'plus' button to add a search by File Status.
You now have a choice of searching by online/offline and managed/referenced.

Possible to tell which programs are accessing the internet? Bandwidth?

I seem to have intermittent, severely limited access to the internet at times.
Is it possible to tell if a particular program running in the background is either downloading or scanning or "online" in some manner...?
Is it possible on a Mac to see how much bandwidth, memory, cpu cycles, etc. particular programs are taking...in a window similar to that which opens on a PC after pressing CTRLALTDEL ?
