Manipulating imports or photos events dates and times

It's a simple question and obviously related to the subject, but I'm trying to find out if it is possible to manipulate imports of images from an I device, we have an Apple Mac that has images on spreading over 3years, obviously with the event dates and times logged, but between each of the photos there are thousands of other images, therefore I would like to know if it is possible to slip images into iPhoto between these thousands of images and alter the date and time of the import or image
plus is there any way I can bring import logs up within iPhoto?

iPhoto has two ways to change the date of photos.
From the Photos menu select "Adjust Date and time". That will let you shift the dates of all selected photos by a fixed amount.
Or use "Photos > Batch Change". This way you can set the date of photos to a fixed date and time, with a optional increment between the photos. This is very useful for scans, where no capture date has been recorded.
To change the dates of events, change the date of the photos inside, or split the events, if you want to insert a different event in between. You can split an event by sorting the photos according to date and selecting a photo in the event. Then use the command "Events > Split event".

  • Entourage Calendar Events: Dates and times are not being saved accurately

After an event has been created and saved, the date and time will change pushing the event forward, but not consistently. Some events jump forward a few hours others an entire day or more. I've been using this program for many years without fault but this problem started several days ago after a recent automated software update. It is not only happening with newly created events, it has also altered events saved weeks ago! (note: time zone is set accurately in the System Preferences and Entourage)

I would check Microsoft's Entourage 2004 forum to see if others have experienced the same issue. Entourage 2004 has been replaced with Entourage 2008 awhile back. It may be those issues are fixed with 2008 and will never be in 2004, or you may need a later patch for 2004. If the automated software update was Microsoft's I'd contact Microsoft, if it was Apple's, this may just be a sign you need to upgrade your Microsoft to keep up with Apple. Whenever you do a system level software update you always need to verify compatibility bugs don't exist with the newer system when you are talking about other third party software. There are way too many third party software titles out there new and old for Apple to test with its own system given the time frame people desire updates.

  • Adjust Date and time for all Photos in an event?

Would some one tell me how to adjust the date and time for all photos in an event. For some reason when I change the date, it only changes the first photo in the event and I am left with a range of dates in the event, but I would rather they all have the same date in the event. Any thoughts or ideas?

How are you selecting the photos and changing them? How much of a change are you trying to make? A total change of date and time or just a delta change either plus or minus?
Using the Photos->Adjust Date and Time... menu option will apply the time/date difference to all of the photos in the Event if you click on the Event icon in the Photos mode or the Event mode.

  • Changing the Date and Time of photos

    Hello,
i have been importing images from my windows machine and want all the dates to be correct, i have seen the adjust date and time, and made the changes but under the events the dates dont change and when i click individual photos the dates and times are not changing.
so i was wondering how do i change the time for each photo and event? can i change the time to a start and finish date rather than just one date?
Any help with the above would be much appreciated.
    Thanks

I have just looked at this again, i dont see an option to set both a start and end date, any ideas?
That is not an an option - and it makes no sense
You can do one of three things:
1 - add a constant delta to all selected photos thereby correcting an incorrect setting on a camera and preserving the sequence and integrity of the photos dates ad times
2 - change the date and time for all selected photos to a specific value
3 - change the date and time for all selected photos to a base value plus an increment for each successive photo.
There are two choices under the photos menu
1 - adjust date and time - this adds a constant Delta to the selected photos - is is designed for correcting camera times or time zones but keeping the basic sequence
2 - batch change date and time - this simply changes the date & time to your selected value with an option to add an increment to each
Both have an option to modify the original photo which I do (I'm not sure why you would not want to modify the original)
And when i go into photos, the ones that i have altered by +Photos >>> Adjust Date and Time+ still have different times and dates, any ideas?
AS described in the iPhoto help and above
1 - adjust date and time - this adds a constant Delta to the selected photos - is is designed for correcting camera times or time zones but keeping the basic sequence
So after adjusting time and date all photos selected will have the time and date changed by the same amount (a constant delta) and if they were all different before they will still all be different - if they were all the same before adjustment they will still all be the same but at a different value

  • Changing date and time on photos

I changed the date and time of some of my photos in iPhoto, and I kept the original date/time for others. When I merged the two in iPhoto, they fell chronologically, which is what I wanted. But when I created a generic file on my desktop and moved the files from my iPhoto to this folder, the photos got mixed up.
How can I sort these photos--that are now out of iPhoto--by the date that I gave them in iPhoto? Do these changes made in iPhoto not permanently stay with each picture?

    avarda
    Actually you can't.
It's quite possible to have a photo taken on January 1 2000 in a file created yesterday.
When iPhoto sorts the photos on date and time it is reading the Exif data in the file about the Photo.
When the Finder sorts on date and time it's reading the Date Created and Modified of the file. The Finder does not know about Exif data.
Yes the Exif data (and the changes you made) travel with the Photo, but that's only of use in applications that know about Exif data - which is just about every photo application on the Planet - but the Finder is not a Photo app.
To do what you want: Now that you have the photos arranged in iPhoto, select them and go File -> Export: Kind: jpeg and look at the naming options in the dialogue box: Explore Fiename -> Sequential. Then, in the Finder, sort on Filename.

  • Changing Date and Time

I have selected both photos and event separately in several attempts to change date and time in Photos/Adjust Date and Time without success. Each time I have attempted to do so another date and time has replaced the previous one but each has been incorrect. Some dates have been inserted dating back several centuries!! The time as well as the date has been incorrect.
I would appreciate suggestions and help in making the change correct.
    Thanks.
    Vernon

I also have this problem. One folder in particular is affected; within it after a few times to get it into the 2000's from 1900's, it is currently showing 1539.
I am at a loss since the batch change roller lets me select the correct year in iphoto.
I thought it might be a glitch in the older software so upgraded to the '11 iphoto. This made no difference at all.
This is still an issue unless the original poster got an answer or worked it out him/her self.
I also use Picasa on the same system but since it gets the photos from iphoto, it gets its errors there too.

  • Printing Date and time format LR 1.3.1

I am trying to print photos with date and time information underneath. Choosing "Photo Info" then "Date" allows me access to everything I need, but in the wrong format. The time is showing up as military (24 hr) format and I cannot find where to change this anywhere in Lightroom. Thank you for helping me with this simple question.

The PRAM battery normally lasts substantially more than 18 months. If you have extended, Applecare, warranty, have Apple look at it. Otherwise, you can either try to change it yourself or have some service shop do it for you. Take a look [righ here|http://www.powerbookmedic.com/Take-Apart-Repair-Manuals-p-1-c-258.html] for more info.
Besides losing the date and time, other parameters such as the volume, brightness, etc., will also reset to default due to PRAM failure.

  • How do I stop my iPhone highlighting events dates any times?

How do I stop my iPhone highlighting events, dates and times in web pages, notes and just about anything I do with text. I'm sure I have seen the setting somewhere. But can't find it now despite looking hard for it. I don 't see it in the iPhone manual either. Even worse than the existence of this intrusive highlighting is it's light yellow link colour that makes the text difficult to read.

Settings> Mail, Contacts, Calendars> change the Sync setting in the Calendars section to All Events.

  • When I try to adjust the date and time of an event by selecting Photos from iPhoto, the year I enter is altered.

I have images in iPhoto from an older digital camera which did not record the date and time.  In iPhoto, with an event selected, I have tried to adjust the date and time by choosing Photo.  When I adjust the date and check Modify original files, it makes the date much earlier--in centuries.  I now have an event from August 2003 (the date I entered) which reads June 2, 1251 under the event!  When I attempt to correct it, it goes back further in time.  What am I doing wrong?

(I use iPhoto only to import from my iPhone; I organize all my images, including thousands of RAW files, in folders on a big external drive.)
Why are you using iPhoto at all? use image capture or drag and drop the photos
The problem is that the files I am copying are getting stripped of the EXIF metadata
eliminating iPhoto from your work flow will eliminate one oppertunity to have this happen  For photos in iPhoto it is best to export them rather than drag an drop them - this assures your EXIF and IPTC data is correct and uptodate
Why would I be able, over many years, to retain EXIF metadata in photos imported from an iPhone--then one day find that the same workflow strips such photos of EXIF data?
Because exporting is the supported way to "export" photos - I never drag and drop photos out of iPhoto and I never use thrid party programs on the photos in the iPhoto library - try exporting as suggested above and see if that is the solution

  • LR2 File naming on import problem, date and time not from photo

    Hi all,
I think I've run into a bug or inconsistency regarding the file naming in LR2. All my photos are named after the template YYYYMMDD-HHMMSS-XXXX.dng, where XXXX is the original file ID number and the rest is the capture date and time. This has worked excellently in 1.1 through 1.4.1.
In LR2 this template, on import, doesn't use the capture time from the photo for naming but rather the _current_ time when the import happens. In the template editor you don't get to choose what time to apply, as the fields are simply called "Minute", "Second", etc.
If I, however, use the function Library > Rename photos... on the new batch of photos after import, and apply the exact same template, they are correctly renamed to match their capture date.
This is with LR 2.0 on Mac OS X 10.5.4 on PowerPC. Anyone else see the same thing?

    This is a reported bug.

  • How do I import photos from a memory card that didn't have the date and time set yet?

    Aloha,
So I got a new 5dmark 3 and I was shooting a wedding and didn't set the date and time before I started shooting. When I uploaded the images to Lightroom they uploaded all over the place and not in order. Is there a way to upload to lightroom and keep them in order?
    THanks so much,

You can change the sort order to filename. That's what I prefer to use, and it keeps my images in shooting order.

  • How can i change date and time after importing a file

    hello
i'm importing AVI files first in iMovie because Final doesn't support (other question i put in) but when i see the scenes form 1993 they have the date 2004.
i believe 2004 is the date i put them on the computer.
Now i looked in the help files Final Cut Pro but cant find anything to adjust the date and time.
it works well in iMovie using the help files:
Right-click the clip you wish to edit and click Adjust Clip Date and Time from the menu that appears. Or click on Archive and than adjust date and time
But as i said i cant import the files in FCP have to import them to  iMovie files adjust the date and than import to Final Cut Pro but than de changes i made to the date and time  are gone and in FCP 2004 is again the date of the file!!!
Question how can i Change in Final Cut Pro the date and time in a same way as iMovie does?
    Jemajoro

OK, I think I understand what you are saying but it still does not look like it is doing it as you describe.
    Here is another screen shot.
Note that all clips in "2007 August" event have the date of Aug x, 2007.
Yet, the event "2007 August" still shows up under the 2012 "folder" (is that the right terminology?).
The newest clip in this event is Aug 31, 2007 so shouldn't it be categorized as 2007 and not 2012?
I think you know this but I am using the following feature:
Go to the sprocket icon under the events.
Select "Group events by date" and then by "group events by year and month"
Thanks again for all the help

  • How can I preserve the date and time of photos when moving them from iPhone to iPhoto and then to other folders on my computer?

In the past I’ve had no problem moving photos from my iPhone 4 into various folders on my computer while retaining their original date and time. I would import into iPhoto, then drag the photos from iPhoto into other folders via the Finder or Adobe Bridge (which is my principal image organizer). The original date and time of the photo would always travel with the jpeg into iPhoto and then into other folders. However, sometime during a recent session transferring photos in this way, the dates of the photos started to change at the point when I copied them out of iPhoto. Within iPhoto itself, the various original dates of the photos are retained. But in Finder and Bridge, copies of those same photos all carry the same (worthless) date: the date and time that they were imported from my iPhone. I can’t figure out what would have changed on my Mac to make it start re-dating my photos. I was happily dragging and dropping photos, and suddently I started to lose the original dates. Did I inadvertently change some settings? (I am running OS 10.6.8 and using iPhoto 8.)

(I use iPhoto only to import from my iPhone; I organize all my images, including thousands of RAW files, in folders on a big external drive.)

You can Manually Backup your iPhoto Library and your iTunes Library to an External Drive without addition Software.

  • Date and Time adjustments for multiple photos

Hello, thanks for providing the space for new users, and thanks in advance for your assistance.
I am currently moving out of apple aperture/iphoto and across to lightroom 5.
The OCD part of me likes to have my library organized, and I noticed that when I transferred my library across it is in a bit of a mess, so I am currently in the process of organizing the library and cleaning it up (approximately 18000 photos)
Any how, I have almost settled on a folder structure (YYYY/MM - I feel for the number of photos I have trying to nut down to day might be to much - happy to receive advise on this also)
For the most part, the photos have correct date and time from the commencement of the digital era (for me 2006 onwards)
Photos pre 2006 are in negative form, and I am currently in process of having these scanned and imported into library, I have a batch done every month.  Adjusting the date and time from the creation date is where I am running into trouble.
I have looked around the web and various forums to no avail.
Firstly, I organize the photos into the correct order.  I then select the first photo and the then select the remaining photos.  I then select the adjust date/time from the menu and select the first option, adjust to new date and time, lets say 01/01/1990 at 1200 PM.
The result I end up with is the first photo (the more selected photo if correct term) has 01/01/1990 @ 1200 as date and time, the remaining have 01/01/1990 as date (if I am lucky), and the times jump all over the place.  Sometimes it wont even change the date time for the remaining photos.
What I am trying to achieve is either the same Date/Time for all the photos when I select a batch, or have them increment in time by a standard amount (i.e 1 minute (1200/1201/1202) or 1 second (1200:00/1200:01/1200:02)), and I just dont seem to be able to work this out to automatically do this, currently I have to achieve this by a manual adjusting each photo (some 200 at a time) which is really labor intensive
Thanks in advance, and hoping an easy solution
    Regards
    Dean

Thanks, that seemed to fix the problem.
    Workflow is:
    1) In grid view arrange photos in correct order
    2) Rename photos with a name & sequence (i.e. photos-1), this appears to then keep the photos organized as how I had arranged in grid view
    3) Export photos & delete original photos from my master library
    4) Open exported photos in an EXIF editor and change date & time to a common format (I am currently using the seasons as a guide, i.e. the photos that I recall being taken in spring are dated the first day of spring, using noon as the time)
    5) Import back to Lightroom and organizing as per my usual structure.
This has allowed me to easily batch change date and times, keeping the correct order and has drastically reduce my workload, thanks for the suggestion!
