Manual calendar migration Mavericks?

I upgraded to Mavericks from Snow Leopard, but things were slow and also decided to add an SSD to my iMac and do a clean install of Mavericks.
All went well, but I forgot to export calendar. I found my calendars on time machine (an older backup) located in /users/username/library/calendars but when I grab this folder and copy it over to the same location on my new HDD and restart calendar, none of my new calendars appear.  These are all local calendars - no cloud syncing or any other cloud services. I see all the ICS entries in the folders.
After I copy all the old calendars over - the Hex/Alpha names - when i reopen calendar it creates new calendars in the folder for the default calendars but ignores the old ones i restored.
Any ideas?

I found a work around... but unless someone has a better way, I am going to assume that the Mavericks calendar has some serious bugs...
1. Create new calendar
2. Make the new calendar the default
3. drag and drop ical files from old calendar folder directly onto the calendar window
It is not enough to just check the calendar you want to add events to, it must be made the default. I
f you leave open the calendar preferences window, you will receive an error during an import that it can't read the calendar event... something wrong with it. At this point some ical events import, some don't - even after closing the preferences window. Only fix is to quit Calendar and reopen.
Good news is you can re-import (drag and drop) the same ical event many times, and only get it to appear once.
The key is changing the default calendar before doing the drag and drop so your events make it to the proper calendar.
This really should be fixed... somehow it must be tied to the whole cloud thing - but I should be able to just copy over my calendar folder from my old machine.

When you next have the problem, note the exact time: hour, minute, second.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
Scroll back in the log to the time you noted above. Select any messages timestamped from then until the end of the episode, or until they start to repeat, whichever comes first. Copy the messages to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message (command-V).
When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.

It will scroll in a window that has an indicator scroll bar on the right side but not in the new seamless calendar view. The built in trackpad on my mid 2012 macbook pro will scroll.

  • Oracle weblogic Server 10g R3 -manual JMS migration and reverse migration

    Folks
we are trying to use manual JMS migration with WLST scripts /console and noticed several issues in Oracle weblogic serevr 10g R3 .(Currently not interested in using automatic server migration stuff)
1)Our use case is to be able to manually migrate JMS with persistent file store in case of long lasting hardware failure (so we need this working with the source server down)
    Here are my observations
    1) The console based manual migration works only when both the source and destination are up (ie for doing migration during scheduled maintainance and not for our use case)
    2) i tried wlst scripts which works partially for our use case
    wls:/jmsmigrationclustertestdomain/edit !> migrate('sb_ms1', 'sb_ms2','true','fa
    lse','all')
Migrating JMS and JTA services from 'sb_ms1' to destination 'sb_ms2' ...
    Migration completed successfully.
question is how do you migrate this back (reverse migration)
I tried a couple of wlst scripts which all were unsuccessful in migrating the services back. Syntax is also extremly confusing as the weblogic.Admin commands seem to be aware of "migratable targets" (such as "sb_ms1 migratable") but WLST doesnt seem to understand "sb_ms1 migratable"
If I just restart sb_ms1 without running any scripts, it complains about JMS artifacts(not being present) as they are migrated onto the other instance
I have this whole setup working on 9.2mp3 with weblogic.admin scripts
Thanks for any guidance on this

    Hi,
I guess you are using the default (system generated) migratable target names for the clustered servers, that have names ends with "(migratable)".
Are you performing the migration from "wls:/YOUR_ADMIN_SERVER_NAME/domainRuntime/MigratableServiceCoordinatorRuntime/the-MigratableServiceCoordinator" ?
Can you please post the exact WLST commands that you tried, syntax of the arguments and any erorr messages taht you have got while performing this operation?
    Thanks

  • How I migrated my caldav data (Contacts and Calendars) to Mavericks + Server

    Hello,
I write this post to share with you the steps I had to take for correctly migrating my caldav database (containing data for Addressbook and Calendar Server) from a Lion Server to Mavericks with Server version 3.
The problem occured like this : after downloading and installing mavericks (from the Apple Store), and downloading/installing the Server Utility (version 3), everything migrated just fine, except I had an error message during the first launch of the Server utility, but since it eventually launched, and the services were running, I didn't notice anything at first.
But I rapidly saw a big problem : my caldav data was missing. If a client connected to their calendar application, they would get (after syncing with the server) a new empty calendar named "calendar" (this is typical of a fresh empty caldav database). Same for addressbook clients (empty contacts).
So I searched and read several post that helped me greatly :
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3890595
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/23581552
BUT, what is different in mavericks, is this :
The postgres cluster that hosts the caldav data seems to have move (again!), and this is by exploring several config files that I figured which was the right socket to use to connect to the good postgres cluster.
The clues were in the file : /Applications/Server.app/Contents/ServerRoot/private/etc/caldavd/caldavd-apple.p list
Where I found the precious parameter (under the Postgres section) :
    <key>SocketDirectory</key>
           <string>/var/run/caldavd/PostgresSocket</string>
What I also figured is that the user account to use for connecting to this postgres cluster is caldav, and not _postgres.
So here are basically the steps I had to take  to reinstall my old database.
    Step #0 :
First, you need to locate the dump of the old postgres database, I found that the migration process seemed to make a dump inside :
This method ONLY WORKS if you have the following file :
    /Library/Server/Migrated/Library/Server/PostgreSQL/Backup/dumpall.psql.gz
If you have that file, you can extract it with the command :
      gunzip /Library/Server/Migrated/Library/Server/PostgreSQL/Backup/dumpall.psql.gz
For the rest of the steps I assume this file is named  /path/to/your/dump.psql
I think (but I'm not sure of it) that THIS precise dump is different than what you would get inside a manual dump, meaning that in this dump you have all the  databases of the cluster. Again I'm not sure, but that's what I think since there are CREATE DATABASE instructions inside it).
If you don't have that file, perhaps you made a dump by hand.
If that's the case, I think that before Step #3 you will have to create an empty caldav database, BUT, I'm not sure the command "calendarserver_bootstrap_database -v" mentionned here will create the caldav in the right cluster (read above). Perhaps we could figured out together if that's your case.
Step #1 : stop the services
    sudo serveradmin stop addressbook
    sudo serveradmin stop calendar
Step #2 : drop the caldav database
    sudo dropdb -h /var/run/caldavd/PostgresSocket -U caldav caldav
If you get this error message :
dropdb: database removal failed: ERROR:  database "caldav" is being accessed by other users
DETAIL:  There is 1 other session using the database.
then go to Step #2a, otherwise, go straight to Step #3
Step #2a : only if Step 2 didn't work, see above ! (taken from here)
    # Connect to the postgres database
    psql -h /var/run/caldavd/PostgresSocket -U caldav
    # Terminate the current sessions
    postgres=> select pg_terminate_backend(procpid) from pg_stat_activity where datname='caldav';
    # Exit postgres
                   postgres=> \q
Step #3 : if your database dump is not from /Library/Server/Migrated/Library/Server/PostgreSQL/Backup/dumpall.psql.gz, then PERHAPS you will have to create manually an empty caldav database (see Step #0)
Step #4 : create the new database from the dump
    sudo psql -h /var/run/caldavd/PostgresSocket -U caldav -f </path/to/your/dump.psql> caldav
A lot of things should be displayed, and I eventually got an error at the end :
psql:DataDump.sql:49844: \connect: FATAL:  database "collab" does not exist
But in my case that didn't affect my migration.
    Step #5 : restart services
    sudo serveradmin start calendar
    sudo serveradmin start addressbook
    I hope that helps you.
    Cheers

iCloud adds a new (additional) Address book to Outlook, it contains the iCloud contacts, if the iCloud contacts and the Outlook contacts are the same there will be duplicates:
Look in one Contact Folder only
Delete the Outlook Contacts (you can't delete the whole folder, only the contents
    These are your choices.

  • Server Calendar migration failed

    Hi,
last week when installing the latest server update for Mavericks the Calendar and Contacts stopped working. I tried everything to get it working again for the past few days like reinstalling server and even updated to Yosemite and installed Server 4 with the hope it would migrate correctly but without any luck.
The calendar state keeps in Starting and will never change to Started.

for testing purposes I renamed the data folder and started the calendar service again.
The new data folder got created but the loop like below is still showing up every 10 seconds:

  • How do I restore a missing Calendar in Mavericks?

I upgraded my MBP to Mavericks last week and noticed yesterday that one of my calendars in the Calendar app is missing.  Additionally, some of my other calendar titles that I had changed previously are set back to their original titles from years ago.  All of the events in the missing calendar are gone of course, since that whole calendar section is gone.
I've tried looking into Time Machine backups with no luck.  I've been unable to access any old files and am lost at how to restore my calendar since the Calendar app has changed so much with various system updates.  Other discussions I have looked at gave instructions about how to restore calendars, but I don't seem to be able to find or access any of the files listed within Time Machine.
Any advice?? I would REALLY like to retrieve my old calendar events since this is the only place I have a record of various meetings, etc.  THANK YOU.

I have the same problem. Mi iCloud calendars were first duplicated, then as I delete one copy, both of them
    woud dissapear.
Not to mention the problems I have with Apple Mail.
This iCloud integration brings back memories of the MobileMe days.
I think I would nerver writh these words: "I  use Outlook". If Apple does not fix the Cloud soon, I will migrate
    to some other platform.

  • How can I sync my outlook calendar with iPhone or calendar on Maverick?

I have just updated to Mavericks on my iMac. I use Microsoft Outlook for email, contacts and calendars. How do I now sync these on my iPhone ?
The only sync seems to be via iCloud, this is sharing calendar and contacts on the iMac but if I make any calendar additions to the outlook calendar it doesn't copy to the phone or the iMac calendar and similarly if I add an item to the phone calendar it syncs to the iMac calendar but doesn't copy to outlook.

    1. Apple has removed sync services in OS X Mavericks. Therefore, you cannot sync Outlook 2011 with Contacts or Calendar.
    2. Apple has removed the ability to sync through iTunes in OS X Mavericks, so that, even if you use Contacts and Calendar on the Mac, you can only sync them with your iPhone through iCloud, thus exposing all your contacts and calendar information to the mercies of the Web.
    3. Microsoft does not not support CalDAV and CardDAV in Outlook, so there is no way to sync directly through iCloud, except perhaps by setting up a Microsoft Exchange account.
    4. Apple makes it extremely difficult (virtually impossible) to revert to a version of OSX that is earlier than OS X Mavericks once Mavericks is installed.
In short, we are screwed and neither company seems to care.

  • Can the appearance of the Calendar in Maverick be improved?

Successfully downloaded and installed Maverick yesterday. When I checked the Calendar, found the view and appearance different than my usual view. I went to the Calendar Preferences and found the Day Start set to 6 AM. This was correct. Also the Show was set to 12 hours. I've now set the scroll bar so the day starts showing at 6am.
However, I'm finding it hard to read the calendar. I normally leave it in the Weekly view. The hours on the left are very light. Basically the calendar appears to be washed out. The old calendar had crisp lines and hours. I did increase the size of the font but that only applies to the events, not to the basic calendar appearence. Visually this new calendar is less than satisfactory and making my life a little bit harder. Any suggestions as to how to increase the darkness of the hours and lines in this application?

If you have a problem then it's probably because you are running an old version of FF. I recommend installing the current version [http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/firefox.html Here]

  • Calendar in Mavericks not updating from iCloud

Just installed Mavericks yesterday on my MBP (Early 2011).  Still running 10.8 on my Mac Pro.  Entered a calendar event yesterday on the Mac Pro.  Shows up on my iPad and iPhone, both running iOS 7.0.2.  Doesnt show up on the MacBook Pro (Mavericks).  In System Preferences->iCloud, I turned OFF calendars, then turrned back on.  Still nothing.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Bruce

Have you tried looking in settings/notifications at where Calendar is listed it might be moved into 'Not in Notification Center' apps don't know why. I had this happen with another app.
    Hope this helps

  • Calendar on Mavericks

I've just upgraded to Mavericks and I am trying to use Calendar. I keep my calendar on iCloud and access it from an iPad as well. Now I am getting this message constantly from Calendar on the iMac:
The request for account “iCloud” failed.
    The server responded with
    “400”
    to operation CalDAVMigrateToServerQueueableOperation.
It then says "Make sure you're connected to the internet", and gives options to try again now or try again later.
I am connected to the internet, but this loop just goes round and round. My calendar events do seem to have been imported to the Calendar on the iMac.

Thanks. The solution I found was here:
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/23625160#23625160
    from Eric Root.
Try going to System Preferences/Internet Accounts/iCloud and un-check Calendars. Log out/in. Then go back to System Preferences and re-check the box.
    This worked.
