Manual copy of Realtime Engine files LV8.20

Hi,
Since most users of my written program are users with "restricted right" acounts under Windows XP I copied the Runtime engine files of LV7.11 manualy by copying the
"Program Files\National Instruments\LabVIEW 7.1\Shared\LabVIEW Run-Time\7.1" files to the harddisk and run a build executable from that directory. Since this application looks in its own directory for support-files this worked fine for LV7.1.
Last week I converted my program to the LV8.2 version. When I tried to copy the RTE8.2 file in the same way as I did before, the program would start-up. It asks for a NIINI32.DLL file. When I include this file it does not return any errors, but the program doesn't start. Can anyone tell me whether their is a different way to run a exe-file build by LV-application builder by copying files manual in stead of running the RTE-installer?
Thanks in advance,
Joost

I'm using MindNode Pro on OS X Mountain Lion, which saves documents to iCloud in a similar fashion to any of the iWork apps. I previously synced with Dropbox, which was automatically backed up with TimeMachine. Is there a way to do the same with iCloud?

I know that NI did the run time engine to minimize space when installing multiple application. But i'm agree with you, we should have another way to build executable without the runtime engine. Some people dont know what it the runtime engine and uninstall it. afther that they just cant use the program anymore. The other reason, it that a VI use just some Kbyte and the run time engine that include almost everything, need some Mbyte.
If somebody know, please tell us......

  • Manually copy a Quicktime installation from one Mac to another?

We have an office full of computers with a very specific setup that includes Quicktime 7.1.3. And no, I cannot upgrade to the newer versions of Quicktime due to various technical issues that have arose during our testing. I'm setting up a new Mac station but have discovered that Apple removed all links for Quicktime 7.1.3. So i'm curious if i'd be able to manually copy/paste all the relevant quicktime files from one Mac to another (same specs on both). Would that work? Anybody have a list of files that Quicktime installs?

See if this will work (I've never tried it):
    HD>Library>Receipts
Check to see if you have a QuickTime or QT7.1.3 pkg file. If so, click on same. See if it will re-install QT.
If the above works, then you will have no need to transfer QT from one Mac to another.
I wonder if you can transfer just the .pkg files? Hmmmmm.............

  • Manual backup of bookmark json file is empty, export of bookmark html file "self-deletes"

I'm now using Firefox 17.0.11esr in Win 7 at work and 26.0 in Win XP at home. I tried 24.2.0esr at work, but had to return to the earlier version, because of this problem below, which also happens with my home machine:
I cannot save, manually or automatically, a usable bookmarks json file for use as a backup. The files are always empty.
When I try to export a bookmarks html file, it begins to create and save it, but then "self-deletes" it before it's done.
Why is this a problem with 24.2.0esr and 26.0, but not 17.0.11esr? What can I do about it?
    Thanks

You can try to create a new profile and keep both profiles open at the same time.<br />
You can do that by starting the second instance with the -no-remote command line switch (see further down).
Then you can do a copy and paste of the bookmarks in the Bookmarks Manager (Library) from the current profile to the Library of the new profile to create a new places.sqlite database file.<br />
If that works then you can copy this places.sqlite file to your current profile folder.<br />
You will lose the history, but it is possible to copy history items to a bookmarks folder in the new profile.
    See "Creating a profile":

  • Need help modifying Applescript to copy "Spotlight Comments" into file

    Hello all,
I have a very large batch of images of Leonardo da Vinci's notebooks. I used the "Spotlight Comments" field of each file to save information about the notebook page depicted in each image:
Well, I had to modify each image in Photoshop and when I saved the files, Photoshop of course didn't retain the Spotlight Comments. Now, before I modified the images, I duplicated the directory, so I have a copy of all of the images that retain their Spotlight Comments field with each image's information. What I want to do is copy the text from the Spotlight Comments field of the original files and either paste this text into the Spotlight Comments field of the modified files (which are in a different directory, but retain the same filenames as the originals), or at least copy the text from the Spotlight Comments field of the original files and paste each block of text into a txt file with a couple of blank lines in between each entry, so that I can manually copy/paste the citations into the modified image's Spotlight Comments fields.
I successfully used this Applescript:  https://discussions.apple.com/message/6741062#6741062
to get the Spotlight Comments from the original files, but it displays them one by one in pop-up dialog boxes and because I have almost a thousand images it is extraordinarily wearisome to copy the text from each pop-up, paste it into a text file, make two blank lines, click "OK" in the pop-up to get the next one...
Can anyone suggest how I can modify the code I have to tell the Finder to copy the contents of each pop-up and paste them into a single text file with a couple of blank lines between each entry?
I have the barest, most rudimentary knowledge of Applescript, which is why I'm asking if one of the wizards here can help me modify or write an Applescript to do what I need to do.
    Thank you so much!
BTW, here is the code from the aforementioned discussion that gets the Spotlight Comments from files. I made into an Applescript application using Automator:
    tell application "Finder"
    repeat with tItem in input
set (comment of tItem) to (text returned) of (display dialog "Spotlight Comment: " default answer (comment of tItem as string))
    end repeat
    end tell

    This script does exactly that:
set sFolder to (choose folder "Select folder wich contains original images.") as string
set dFolder to choose folder "Select folder wich contains modified images."
    tell application "Finder"
repeat with tItem in (get document files of dFolder)
set origFile to sFolder & (get name of tItem)
                if file origFile exists then
set origComment to comment of file origFile
set comment of tItem to origComment

  • Copying lots of music files at once

Sorry if this has been asked before....but I'm trying to move around vast numbers of music files between areas on my MacBook Pro and if I try and do too many, it won't let me.
For example, I have 2 users set up on my laptop. One is the main user and the other is for a spare iTunes so I don't have to delete files when the iPod gets full - I can just move them about. So I occasionally move a number of files between the 2 by copying from one iTunes to a drop box and then going to the spare user then copying them again to the iTunes for that user. Sometimes it'll let me do 1000 or more songs, but other times it gets stuck at around 50 or less.
AND I'm trying to back up ALL of my music files to an external drive. Obviously I want to just drag and drop as many as I can (i.e. 1000s!) and leave it running while I do other stuff, but again it won't let me.
Any ideas? Is there a limit to how many files /GB you can move? It's weird as when I first got the MacBook Pro I backed up the music straight away to a spare drive and I'm sure it worked ok without having to do a couple of hundred at a time or something like that.
Please let me know if you can help - thanks!

    Thanks Matt.
    In response...
"First of all, I have to say that your method of managing iTunes seems a little complex. Wouldn't it also work just to manually manage iTunes (instead of automatic updates) and then you can move whatever songs you like to the iPod?"
I prefer to sync and not work manually. Easier for me to do than manage songs individually. I have a full 80GB iPod - manually managing isn't something I really want to do. I've got about 85GB set up in the spare user account also. The spare user is basically there for music I doubt I'll want to listen to for ages but don't want to delete. If I had 150GB in the same iTunes and was manually picking out tracks, it would kill me! I know that works for other people, but not for me.
"When you move files around, are you moving a single top-level folder, or multiple files or top-level folders? I've found that moving a single folder (that may itself contain hundreds of items) is more efficient than trying to multiple-select and move the enclosed items."
I'm trying to move multiple files from iTunes to a single folder. I hear what you're saying, but basically I have a playlist of about 1,200 songs that I want to move from my MacBook to the external spare drive, and also want to move about 500 songs from one iTunes to another. I know what you mean, but I need to be able to copy from from iTunes to a separate folder all at once.
Maybe if I was able to export playlists from one iTunes to another that would be easier? I used to do that on a PC and it worked fine, but can't get it to work on this Mac.
Anyway, I don't understand why it's not an easy task to simply copy a number of files from one location to another, regardless of amount or size....shouldn't be THAT hard should it?
To do what you suggest, I'd need to have moved the files into a top level folder in the first place and that's what I'm struggling with I think....any ideas?
Thanks for getting back to me - appreciated!

Also, Im a photographer, so I like to name a lot of files at the same time (used to do in on PC and it was very usefull.) cannot find out how to do it on my Mac. Really appretiate if some one can give me a solution! Thanx

Your drive is formatted with the NTFS file system.  OS X can read but not write to the NTFS file system.  There are third party drivers available that claim to add the ability to OS X to write to an NTFS partition.  I have not tried them and don't know if they work.
The only file system that OS X and Windows can both write to natively is the FAT32 file system.

  • Is there a way to reuse an image placed in a document without copying it into the file again?

I recently completed my first eBook with iBooks Author.  It is a photo essay and contains primarily photographic images.  In some places, I used the same image, or parts of the same image, in more than one place.  I could not find a way to locate the images I had previously copied into the book file, so I could refer to them and place the image in a new location.  It seemed, to me, that this was a common sense capability that would decrease the file sizes significantly.
    Did I miss something?
    Thank you.
    Ray

nope, you didn't miss anything. IBA does;t have a library function listing your images. You'll have to copy/paste or re-nsert the image wherever you need it. If it's an image that you could put in a layout, then you only put it once and it appears on all pages that use that layout.

  • Is a copy of .xml file on the iPod too? If so, how can I copy ONLY the .xml file to my computer and NOT have to copy all my music files too?

I had to re-load my OS (Windows XP Pro) from a HD snapshot via Acronis True Image Server. I save my OS on my C: drive and all my data files on my D: drive.  So when I re-loaded my OS, I still have all of my music files intact.
I have re-loaded the OS before and had to re-create iTunes library which I did by doing the follwing:
    1. cut & paste .xml file in iTunes folder to desktop
    2. delete .itl file in iTunes folder
    3. import .xml file through iTunes  file>library>iport playlist
    4. navigate to .xml file on desktop and import
This worked last time I re-loaded my OS but not this time for some reason.
So I'm wondering if there is a copy of the .xml file on the iPod itself in the iPod_Control folder that I can copy and paste to my comuter desktop and import via the above steps?
I have seen all kinds of solutions on the web that include copying the music files from the iPod to the computer.  I don't need to do that.  I have the music files.  I just need the .xml file so iTunes can talk to my iPod (5th Generation - 30G).

Backup your music library, that is the only way to ensure it does not go missing through theft, damage, operator error, machine breaks, upgrades go wrong, operator goes wrong .........

  • How can I copy the dmg installer file to a thumbdrive?

So we purchased a new iMac. The geniuses at the apple store installed Mountain Lion using their installation software. I want a backup copy of the installation files.
I was able to use unix/terminal to boot and display the boot disk and begin the installation process, which I intended to save to an external hard drive and copy the dmg file to a thumbdrive BEFORE the computer automatically restarted and deleted it. I even opened a microsoft word document thinking that without saving it would halt the restart process, but no. The computer restarted automatically without giving me the opportunity to copy the dmg file.
Does anyone have any ideas? Is there a unix command to halt the restart?
    Thanks.

What I did when I got a new Macbook Pro was to get a 16GB USB Thumb Drive (or was it 32GB) and used SuperDuper to clone the boot disk to the USB Thumb Drive.  (Carbon Copy Cloner could also be used).
Now I have a bootable copy of my Macbook Pro while it was young and uncluttered with all my junk.  The clone  has all my extra apps, such as iPhoto, Garageband, iMove, etc... that is not part of the Mac OS X distribution, and you only get when buying a new Mac.
When doing an upgrade, I download the new version (Lion, Mountain Lion, future "Cat"), and they quit the installer before it does anything.  Now looking in Applications, there is an "Install OS X Lion", or "Install OS X Mountain Lion", etc...  I made a copy of that app on a USB Thumb Drive or DVD.  There have also been instructions on the web about how to make this into a bootable DVD or Thumb Drive.  I have not bothered with that, as I have my above mentioned original clone I can boot from, and there is always the recovery partition I can boot from as well.
If you wish to have the Mac boot back into the initial setup mode, you can remove the following file and reboot:
    rm /var/db/.AppleSetupDone

  • I have copied over my music file to a new computer and the music shows on itunes but wont play. When I track where the song is located it is reading the wrong information. How do I change this as Edit Preferences has the right location

I have copied over my music files to a new computer and the music shows on itunes but wont play. When I track where the song is located it is reading the wrong information. How do I change this as Edit>Preferences has the right location?

Select one of the tracks with a broken link, press ctrl-i to Get Info. Say No when iTunes asks if you would like to locate the track, then look at the Summary tab for the location expects to find the file in.
Now try to locate the file in question. The two locations should give a clue as to what to do next.
Here is an example with a file I've deliberately moved from the new layout to the old pre-iTunes 9 layout.
This means iTunes is expecting to find the file at:
    D:\iTunes\iTunes Media\Music\a-ha\Take On Me\01 Take On Me.mp3
but it isn't there because I've moved it to:
    D:\iTunes\iTunes Media\a-ha\Take On Me\01 Take On Me.mp3
which is where it would have lived back in iTunes 8 (though the media folder would have been called iTunes Music back then as well).
If you can provide the expected and actual locations of a broken track I should be able to suggest the easiest way to resolve things.

  • How can I get a file to copy all of the files in a directory except itself and the source of the copy function will be the directory the final program is in?

How can I get a file to copy all of the files in a directory except itself and the source of the copy function will be the directory the final program is in? This application must be in Lab View 8.

you mean something like this (see below)?
Now you may have to implement code to check if the destination folder exists and to create it, etc.  But if you use the Front Panel Control to select the destination folder, it should be okay.
Not the best implementation, mind you but you'll get the idea..
