Manual downgrade to iOS 6.1.2 possible? (iPhone3GS, new bootroom)

Hello there!
A few days I upgraded to iOS 6.1.3.
I hadn't any wifi, bluetooth or cellular connection, but I thought it would be good to wait for the software to adjust to the framework.
Now its almost a week since I've done the upgrade and still no connection possible.
I tried to restore via dfu to 6.1.2 but it tells me Error 3194.
The iPhone is a (post-purchase) unlocked 3GS model with 8GB of storage and the new bootroom.
So my question is: Is it possible to fix the connection errors or to downgrade to 6.1.2?
Best regards & thanks in advance

Here is the definition of the 3194 error.
This device is not eligible for the requested build (Also sometimes displayed as an "error 3194")
Update to the latest version of iTunes. Mac OS X 10.5.8 (Leopard) users may need to download iTunes 10.6.3.
Third-party security software or router security settings can also cause this issue. To resolve this, follow Troubleshooting security software issues.
Downgrading to a previous version of iOS is not supported. If you have installed software to perform unauthorized modifications to your iOS device, that software may have redirected connections to the update server (gs.apple.com) within the Hosts file. Uninstall the unauthorized modification software from the computer.
Edit out the "gs.apple.com" redirect from your hosts file, and then restart the computer for the host file changes to take affect. For steps to edit the Hosts file and allow iTunes to communicate with the update server, see iTunes: Advanced iTunes Store troubleshooting—follow steps under the heading Blocked by configuration (Mac OS X / Windows) > Rebuild network information > Mac OS X > The hosts file may also be blocking the iTunes Store. If you do not uninstall the unauthorized modification software prior to editing the hosts file, that software may automatically modify the hosts file again on restart.
Avoid using an older or modified .ipsw file. Try moving the current .ipsw file (see Advanced Steps > Rename, move, or delete the iOS software file (.ipsw) below for file locations), or try restoring in a new user to ensure that iTunes downloads a new .ipsw.
As mentioned before, downgrading is not supported, so you will not be able to do that, but if you have not attempted that yet, and the phone is not jailbroken, you can see if any of this info helps.

There has never been a legit way to downgrade.
It will always restore to the latest available software.

No, it's not possible. Apple does not support downgrading iOS.

  • Is it possible to downgrade my ios

ive been wondering if it was possible to downgrade my ios from 6.1.3 to an earlier ios

well we should be able to downgrade at least one step to trouble shoot when we think the ios is an issue, eg my ipad 2 wifi struggles to connect now, currently patiently waiting for a fix from apple, not doing all the BS reset router and stand on one leg with finger in ear currently floating round the net

Not only will restoring the iCloud backup downgrade the iOS, here's something else.
Let's say that your only backup (iTunes or iCloud) was made will you were running iOS 8.1.2.  But you someone managed to downgrade the iOS anyways to iOS 7.1.2.  Then you would not be able to restore that data to your device.  And that is a far more catastrophic problem a short battery life problem.
Total data loss is worse than short battery life.

  • HT1414 Is it possible to purchase, or have apple downgrade my Iphone from IOS 6.0.1 to like IOS 5.1.1? The new software makes my Iphone lag, and the new App store is horrible. Willing to purchase a downgrade if necessary.

Would like to downgrade my IOS 6.0.1 Software to the IOS 5.1.1 Software. The new IOS for the Iphone is horrible. Too much lagging. Even after a complete restore, upgrade, no apps but the one the Iphone comes with, and just the basic things, my Iphone is horrible in speed, and loading.
I have the Iphone 4 gsm model 8GB, and I have had many of them. New, and Refurbished.  Performance is all the same.
I am willing to pay Apple for a Downgrade in IOS versions, and I know shsh blobs are required, but I understand that Apple has technology that can do many things with their products. I am no fool, and am only requesting something so simple.

Downgrading of any version of iOS isn't supported by Apple at all. If you search the web, you'll find instructions that may work, but you're on your own should any problems arise. For many people it goes without problems, but for some it's reportedly bricked their devices.
    Regards.

  • HT1414 Is there any way i could restore from the backup of a new IOS software? I had to manually restore my iphone 3 and had to downgrade the IOS Software.

I backuped my iphone 3 when it had a higher IOS software. After i restored my Iphone, i eneded up having to downgrade the IOS software in order for it to fully restore. Now when i try to back up my phone, it says that my iphone is too old for the backup. If i DO upgrade the IOS, i won't be able to use my phone because it becomes too slow and wont even fully restore.
    Thanks

If your phone is in recovery mode (You see the iTunes graphic on the phone), you MUST connect the device to a computer and restore the operating system.  There is no supported way to get around it.  The device had a problem installing the update and it crashed.  Sorry.

  • How to downgrade to iOS 7.1.2 from iOS 8 ?

I have just upgraded to iOS 8 but a few of the apps does not load & the iphone is slowly !
The whatsapp backup is not supported by iOS 8 too !
I would want to downgrade to the iOS 7 , is this possible ?
    I'm using a 5S

Check out the user manuals on Apple site - all OS08 available in multiple languages etc.   Looking at one of them - they don't say what is changed - so you would have to do that yourself -- also check your settings - on Mac upgrades or updates Apple sometimes resets some of the settings to default.

  • Downgrade from ios 6 to ios 5.1.1

    i have 2 inquiries:
    -  i have an iphone 4, and i jsut upgraded yesterday to ios 6. is it possible fo downgrade again to ios 5.1.1 if i have teh software file? my phone is not jail broken and never been.
    - while setting up my iphone after the upgrade to ios 6, in one of teh steps when i started using the phone, it asked for teh apple ID password to do soemthing related to icloud, imessenger and facetime. it also gave the option on the phone screen to "skip this step" which i did, i skiped the stem and thought if i wanted to i can go back and do it manually from the settings any time. i think it was something related to downloading new features for the icloud. i messenger and facetime.
the reason i want to downgrade, is to upgrade again to ios 6 and instead of skipping the previously mentioned step, set up the password as i dont' seem to be able to do it from anywhere in the settings.

thanks Ethmoid for the quick response. honestly, i dont use icloud or facetime for that matters, and the imessenger is working fine. it is just that after skipping the step, i was concerened that this might have casued an inproper install of any features, but as i said, since skipping it was an option given by apple, it shouldn't be drastic. right???

  • Am i able to downgrade my IOS 7.1 to IOS 7

Am i able to downgrade my IOS 7.1 to IOS 7

Downgrading isn't possible. iTunes won't install iOS versions older than the latest compatible release, and if one's somehow installed anyway, Apple's servers won't activate the device afterwards.

iOS 3 is a better OS than iOS 4 for 3G.
iOS 4 for 3G is for you to suffer and buy an iPhone 4. iOS was designed for iPhone 4 technically and commercialy.
There are places on the web with detailed instructions on how to downgrade from iOS 4 to iOS 3.
