Manual Duplexing Problems

Ever since I puchased a new computer with Windows 8.1 I don't have the ability to manually duplex.  There isn't even a choice to configure manual duplexing.  I print a lot of documents and would like to save trees (and money) by duplexing.  Can anybody help?

Hey @silkylabie,
Thanks for posting in the HP Support Forum.
I understand you're looking to configure duplexing settings on your HP Color LaserJet CP1518ni Printer.  I would like to assist you with this and may have the steps you need to get the job done.
Getting started, I recommend you click here to install the HP Universal Print Driver for Windows PCL5 (64-bit).  When you have finished the install, open your Devices and Printers Folder (you can find this in Control Panel) and do the following:
Right-click on the HP Universal Printing PCL 5 icon
Click on Printing Preferences - this will prompt you to connect with your printer.  You may need to enter your printer's IP address if it's not automatically detected by your PC.
Once the printer's added, click on the 'Finishing' tab
As you can see in the screenshot below, you can click to activate printing on both sides.
Please let me know if you need any further assistance - I'm always happy to help.  If I have resolved your issue feel free to click on the 'Thumbs Up' icon below to give me a virtual high-five.
Have a great weekend!

  • HP Laserjet M1212NF USB no longer printing in manual duplex mode

    Hello All,
I am currently having issues with my HP LaserJet M1212NF printer connected via USB.  First, basic system information:
    Windows 7 64-bit
    Now, some backstory:
The printer was initially setup using Network installation.  Then, I moved and could no longer access the network, so I deleted it from the Windows Device and Printer area and reinstalled it as a USB perinter.  I installed all the updated drivers and Firmware updates.  The printer now CANNOT print in duplex mode.  I choose Manual Duplex in the printer settings AND when I print a multipage document.  The printer simply prints the document normally, with no duplex.  Please help.  I've googled the problem, but have come up empty handed.

    Hi Wilhendrickx,
I understand you aren't able to print two sided.
    Thank you for your reply.
I will be happy to help you with this.
You can set the two sided option two different ways. Try both to see if it makes a difference.
To set the two sided printing for all print jobs.
Go to start, devices and printers, right click the printer, left click printer
properties, click on the finishing tab and check Print on both sides, (manually) apply and OK.
To set the two sided printing for 1 job.
From the application go to file, print, preferences, click on the finishing tab and
check Print on bot sides, (manually) apply and OK.
Disable the bidirectional support to see if that will make a difference.
Go to start, devices and printers, right click the printer, left click printer
properties, click on the ports tab at the top, uncheck Enable bidirectional support.
If it didn't work then go back in and check it again.
I would download and run the Print and Scan Doctor since it might resolve the issue
    automatically.
Find and Fix Common Printer Problems Using HP Diagnostic Tools for Windows.
If that doesn't work then I would uninstall and reinstall the printer software.
    Uninstalling the Printer Software.
Here is a URL to download and install the latest drivers again.

Try the two sided printing now.

  • HP Color LaserJet CM2320fxi MFP - Full Duplex Problem

    Hello!
I've got LaserJet CM232 and Win7 (x64). My problem is that when I'm printing for example 4 pages of a document it's printing only in full duplex, so 2 pages printed on both sides. I can't find where can I fix this duplex problem, I'd like to choose manually if it will be printing in full duplex or not. Help me find a solution, please.
Second problem refers to the time of printing. When I print something I have to wait several minutes to print it. Is that a RAM problem? More RAM memory will resolve this problem?
Thanks a lot for your replies! I'd really appreciate any help!

  • Manual Duplexing use on a HP Laserjet P1102w printer-How is it done?

This is a first using a manual duplex option on a printer and I have been unable to print on both sides of an HP Laserjet P1102w printer, despite doing the following:
    Went to Print Setup
Under Finish: chose Print on Both Sides Manually
    Left edge binding
and although it prints....I can't seem to get the 'booklet' to print correctly on the other side; Not even sure how to correctly get the paper in so it doesn't double print on the same page.
: I've tried to print first reverse pages,
    then even pages in reverse,
but still unable to get the pages in order to fold and create a booklet or print multiple pages on both sides...has anyone had experience with this on what is the best way to try and print documents in booklet form or just both pages to save paper?
Is there a driver or support that will help with this?
No visual screen pops up on the monitor to help with placing the papers so it will print correctly and I have already tried with just a 6 page booklet and failed there.
I've tried googling the results, checked the HP website for any information and either have missed the support information to do this or assume there is none.
    Any insight would be appreciated.

  • Windows 7, Manual Duplex 1200 laserjet not working, USB connection

I just want to PRINT  Manual Duplex - Booklet - 2 page per sheet ....and it's not working. Actually it print pages, but just on one side.
It continues to PRINT everything on ONE side ( so the printer PRINT all on SINGLE SIDE...there is no POPUP window to TELL you to MOVE printed pages into INPUT BIN, so to continue manula duplex printing)
Sorry if my English is bad!
in Windows XP, everything was fine....but in Win 7 Entreprise 32-bit, problem with MANUAL DUPLEX
I try many drivers, because the WIN7 official driver is not having MANUAL DUPLEX. Non of them work
Next thing I notices is  missing OPTION for MANUAL DUPLEX (in win7 official drivers)
Start - device and printers - (right click on) HP LaserJet 1200 Series PCL 5 - Printer Properties - Device Settings
Duplex Unit (for 2 - sided printing)....it say its INSTALLED (but I know that I dont have that). After Switching to NOT INSTALLED, the OPTION in driver for BOOKLET, simply disappear.
    Any advice?

    AND forgot to say,
there is NO OPTION to SET MANAUL DULPEX (in win 7 drivers)

  • Cp2025n color laserjet manual duplexing side two portrait & landscape transition issue

I regularly print the same documents. Each document has a portrait section, a landscape section, a portrait section then a landscape section, then a portrait section. I manually duplex the job (because I did not buy a duplexer and I am saving trees).
On the first side of the page, everything works great... job runs straight through the printer then I am prompted to insert the half printed pages into tray 1 and push OK on the printer.  The first portrait section is printed. The printer stops on the first landscape page and prompts me to load paper into tray 1 (even though it is already there) and push OK again, I do so, and it proceeds till the job switches to portrait mode, prompts me to load paper into tray 1 (even though it is already there) and push OK again, I do so, and it proceeds till the job switches to landscape mode, etc... making me babysit the printer as it prints the second side of each job.
I have multiple different print jobs with the similar layout... portrait, landscape, portrait, landscape, and finishing with portrait. All of them behave the same. The number of pages in the portrait section and landscape section vary by job and within job. The prompt from the printer is always at the transition point between portrait & landscape mode.  The printer only stops when printing side two of the page.
I believe I am running the most current drivers and software on my PC for the printer. The update task runs regularly and is not informing me that there is new software available. The only indication of what firmware is running on the printer is this info
    Firmware Datecode: 20100512
This strikes me as a printer driver issue... Anybody got any other ideas? Anybody noticed this same issue? Can someone from HP test this out for themselves and verify there is a problem? I have tried searching the forums but every post I have found so far is not on point.
    Thanks!

  • D7260 Duplex problem

    Hi,
I printed a 12 page document on my D7260 and manually duplexed. The back of pages 8 & 9 were blank.
the back of pg 7 had page 10.
My driver says last configured on 12/08/2008.
Do I need new drivers? If so, where do I find them?
Using Word 2007 on Vista Ultimate 64 bit SP 2
    Thanks

    Hi Jan,
If you are connecting Router to WAN0_0 port, you should use cross-over cable under most of the circumstances and unless you are using all gig interfaces on both sides. This will avoid any hardware limitations due to non-Auto-MDIX supported hardware.
Cisco strongly recommend that you do not use half-duplex connections on the WAE or on routers, switches, or other devices.
You will find more information here: Cabling
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/app_ntwk_services/waas/wae/module/inline/installation/guide/17880fru.html#wp39911
Further, there is a possibility that the interface on Router / WAE inline adapater / cable might be bad. I would suggest following in that case.
    1. Using a new cross-over / stright cable. if the issue continues, proble lies on the interface sides.
    2. Using a different port on router. if the issue continues, problem is with WAN0_0 port of WAE.
    3. Try connecting wan0_0 port to another switch / router to see if it negotiates at full duplex. If it still continues at half duplex, there is an issue with WAN0_0 port most probably.
    4. Try connecting secondary gig port or WAN0_1 port to same router interface. If the issue continues, problem may be with router FA0/0 interface.
If you find that issue is with either router / WAE inline interface, please open a TAC case for RMA.
    Hope this helps.
    Regards.

    Hi @DYSSE
    I know what I am about to ask may sounds strange, but how many pages is your file? Please take a look at the following post I found in the Microsoft Community Forums;
All of the responses are bogus, I tried them all! I HAVE FOUND THE ANSWER! For some stupid reason MS WORD 2010 does not like an ODD NUMBER OF PAGES WHEN PRINTING MANUAL DUPLEX BOOK FOLD DOCUMENTS.
I tried all of the solutions and one day it worked, my document printed!!! I usually only have a 3 page Sunday School Teaching document, front page, and 2 inside pages of a single sheet of paper. I have to print it to a PDF document first to get it to print book fold. This day it was unusally long at 4 pages and it PRINTED WITH NO PROBLEM! I thought a recent MS Update had done the trick. But the next week I again had the printing problem! So I went back to the previous week's document and it printed fine again. Only difference was the number of pages from one week to the next. So I went some of my older documents that had 3 pages, inserted a few carriage returns to make my document 4 pages long and Voila! It works. I thought it would work the same way with 5 pages (bad), 6 pages (good), etc...but that wasn't it. You have to make your document a multiple of 4 pages (booklet page count). So add some carriage returns to your document to make it a multiple of 4, 8, 12,16, 20, etc!
Work around - make your document a multiple of 4 book folded pages.

  • Manual duplex for LaserJet 1300 in Windows 8.1

    Hello.
I'm using HP LaserJet 1300 under windows 8.1. I can't print pdf file on both sides of the page. When I choose this option it just prints the whole document. This printer is also used for windows XP and windows 7 and manual both side printing works fine there. I've installed drivers form hp site for windows 8.1
    Help me please.

I have the same problem. Is there a solution? Even when it says it is printing double-sided it does not, and it's incredibly wasteful of paper! I see a lot of people asking the same question on different discussions and have only seen one answer that required modifying text in an .xml file. However, I could not find the file that the person referenced. This is the answer I saw (found at https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windows/en-US/171987b1-0d50-4dbb-93c7-67067eb0fbf7/hp-la...  I believe they were using a different driver. Is there a similar answer for the PCL5 driver for Win8.1 64 bit?
Open the file called "hpcu1306.xml". You will probably find it under "C:\Windows\System32\spool\drivers\x64\3" ("C:\Windows\System32\spool\drivers\XXX\3" for non-x64 systems).
    6. Search for this passage:
    <!-- ========================================= -->
    <!-- Manual Duplex -->
    <!-- ========================================= -->
    7. Search in this section for:
    <prn_grp models="HP LASERJET P3005 ;HP LASERJET P3004 ;HP LASERJET P2015 SERIES ;HP LASERJET P2015D ;
    HP LASERJET P2015N ;HP LASERJET P2015DN ;HP LASERJET P2015X ;HP LASERJET P2014 SERIES ;
    8. Replace it with this:
    <prn_grp models="HP LASERJET 1300; HP LASERJET 1300N; HP LASERJET P3005 ;HP LASERJET P3004 ;HP LASERJET P2015 SERIES ;HP LASERJET P2015D ;
    HP LASERJET P2015N ;HP LASERJET P2015DN ;HP LASERJET P2015X ;HP LASERJET P2014 SERIES ;
    9. Save the file and reboot your computer.
Done you now have manual duplex function for HP LaserJet 1300

  • Re: hp1510 manual duplex fails

I have the same problem with HP1300. These suggestions do not help. It doesn't give an option to manually print on both sides but assumes there is a duplex feature on the printer. I think there is a flaw in the drivers. Many people have the same problem with various printers. Can't HP issue corrected drivers?

    Hi CUGFG,
I see that your manual duplexing is not working with your HP PSC 1510 on Windows 7, but it did on Windows XP. I am sorry to hear this, but happy to help!
I would definitely suggest to try our HP Print and Scan Doctor, to make sure that the full feature software and driver's have been setup properly. If the HP Print and Scan Doctor, does not find any errors, then proceed with the following steps:
Uninstall the software. Uninstalling the Printer Software.
Clean boot the computer. How to perform a clean boot in Windows.
Disable any Antivirus programs. Disable Antivirus software.
Disable any firewall programs. Turn Windows Firewall on or off.
Create a new user account. Managing User Accounts and Logins (Windows 7).
Reinstall using the HP Printer Install Wizard for Windows.
We will start with that, and go from there!
    Hope this helps!

  • Manual duplex HP LaserJet Pro 200 color MFP M276

I have a HP LaserJet Pro 200 color MFP M276 and my manual duplex is not duplexing properly.
There are no error messages just me grumbling at the final output.
I am using Windows 8.1 Pro and no new hard or software changes.
    Here is what happens:
I am attempting to print 5 pages with the manual duplex option checked
3 pages come out (pages 1,3, & 5) and a pop up window says to reinstall the pages and hit ok.
I reinstall the pages (not adulterating the page order) Just take them off the printer and put in the tray face down with the top of paper toward the back of the printer.
What comes out is page 2 on the back of page 5 instead of being on page 1; page 4 is on the back of page 3 and page 1 is blank.
Why doesn't it know how to reverse print the odd page numbers so page 2 will end up on page the back of page 1 etc?
I tried it with a 3 page document and page 2 ended up on the back of page 3 instead of page 1. Page 1 came out blank.

Hello, I understand that you are having an issue with printing in manual mode.  When printing documents in manual duplex, the best method is to select manual duplex in the printer driver and not through the application.  There is a public document that might help, which can be found at the HP product/support page.  When the page is availalbe search on this public document id number for instructions-c02851622.   Please reply if this does or does not help.

  • Solution for MP CM1312nfi Manual Duplex page ordering issue

One of the things that bothered me when I got my CM1312nfi was the fact that Manual Duplex and Booklet printing were printing the back sides of the pages in the wrong order, resulting in weird page combinations (e.g. 1-8, 2-7, 3-6, 4-5). If I reversed the order of the sheets before reinserting them into the printer and then reversed the sheet order again after the job was finished, the results were as expected, but it was a pain in the rear end doing so.
After fruitlessly trying to get HP tech support to help, I took matters into my own hands. I started digging around in the PPD file for the printer and trying different combinations of parameters. I finally stumbled upon a combination that worked, so I thought I'd share it here. If you'd like to download a ready-to-install PPD file, you can get it here:
    http://homepage.mac.com/catservant/HP%20Color%20LaserJet%20CM1312%20MFP%20Series .gz
If you have your browser set to automatically decompress archive files (the "Open safe files after downloading" option in Safari will do that), control-click on the link and download the file that way. The file needs to stay compressed.
Copy this file into your "/Library/Printers/PPDs/Contents/Resources" folder, saving the original file in that folder somewhere in case you need to go back to it. Then, go into the Print & Fax preference pane and delete and re-add the printer.
If you'd rather do the modification yourself, here's the procedure:
    1. Copy the "HP Color LaserJet CM1312 MFP Series.gz" file from the "/Library/Printers/PPDs/Contents/Resources" folder to the desktop. Make a duplicate copy so you can restore the original if you make a mistake.
    2. Double-click on the "HP Color LaserJet CM1312 MFP Series.gz" file now on the desktop. The file will decompress and create a "HP Color LaserJet CM1312 MFP Series" file (without the .gz extension).
    3. Open the "HP Color LaserJet CM1312 MFP Series" file (the one without the .gz extension) in TextEdit.
    4. Edit the following two lines:
    <pre> *DefaultHPFaceOrientation: FaceUp</pre>
    <pre> *HPManDupTumbleFirstSides: False</pre>
Change "FaceUp" to "FaceDown" in the first line. Change "False" to "True" in the second line.
This will allow you to put the pages back into the printer as they come off the printer, i.e. without having to rotate them or flip them over.
    5. Save the file.
    6. Open the Terminal application and type the following two commands followed by the return key:
    <pre> cd Desktop</pre>
<pre> gzip -c "HP Color LaserJet CM1312 MFP Series" > "HP Color LaserJet CM1312 MFP Series.gz"</pre>
This will replace the "HP Color LaserJet CM1312 MFP Series.gz" file on the desktop, so you can see the importance of the duplicate copy in step 1.
