Manual feed mode Colour Laserjet 2840

Hi. Printer appears to have defaulted to Manual paper feed mode & I can't see how to change it in the control panel. Tool Box is flaky under Windows 7 & though I have manual feed turned off there it still appears as "manual" in the control panel & still wants human interaction to print. Googling gets several itterations of "Verify that the device is not in manual feed mode and print the job again." but no directions on how to change it. Printer has 2 paper trays if that is significant.

Hi, I somewhat had the same issue today, except mine was grayed out. I checked the following: Control Panel\Hardware and Sound\Devices and Printers Then I opended the HP Device toolbox where you can toggle the Manual Feed. Hope this helps.

Where to find Window 7 64-bit driver for HP Colour LaserJet 2840 all-in-one printer full complete version?

    Hello B-I-F,
The drivers for the HP Color Laserjet 2840 are already "built" into Windows 7. Here is a link regarding how to install them:

  • Acrobat 9.0 Scan From HP Color LaserJet 2840 Sheet Feeder

Running Windows 7 32-bit on HP computer and HP Color LaserJet 2840 all-in-one.
Attempting to scan from sheet feeder and getting pages clipped at bottom.   Windows Scanner program works correctly.
The Acrobat 9.0 Pro scanner setup (WIA, not TWAIN) only allows me to select "automatic" paper size - no other paper size options are presented. Acrobat was recently reinstalled; all software is updated to current revision levels.
    Any ideas?

Experiencing the same issue.  Mac OS X 10.8.5, HP Easy Start Version 1.1.1 (33) Correctly identifies my HP product, searches for and suggests the appropriate drivers (I'm assuming), and fails when clicking Install. Dialog box says the same exact message as the previous post.  Network is obviously working. Can we get direct links to these driver downloads? Essential Software version 4.0.0.32HP Scan version 4.7.0.46  Can't find them anywhere on the HP site. Thanks.

  • HP LaserJet 4200 -- manual feed tray not working after 10.6 install

    Hi all...
One of my users pointed this out to me. I'm looking for confirmation (or a solution)?
We have an HP LaserJet 4200 printer added to our mac clients as an IP printer. Under 10.5.8, printing to "Tray 1 (Manual)" goes where you think it would -- to the manual feed tray.
Upgrading to 10.6.1? Manual print jobs are going to the internal "Tray 3".
It's the same behavior if I use the 10.6.1 "5.3.0" printer driver or the HP Printer Update 2.1 updated "5.4.0" version.
Can anybody else confirm/deny the problem with their 4200 printer under 10.6? If you can confirm it, do you know of a fix (short of rolling back to 10.5.8).
A remove and readd of the printer did not help here. Unfortunately.
    Thanks!
    - Steve

    Resolved this two ways:
    1) the "gutenprint" driver worked.
    2) The larger problem was the manual tray had been set to "A4" size.
I used the web admin interface to set this to "any size" and "any" type and that fixed the problem with the 5.4.0 "LaserJet 4200 Series" default printer driver...
Luckily, somebody else on campus had one of these printers and we were able to compare the printer setting differences to figure this out.
    I hope this helps somebody!

  • LaserJet 4700dn Always prints from Tray 1 (Manual Feed)

I have a networked LaserJet 4700dn in a lab environment that recently has starting trying to print all jobs on the manual feed Tray 1.  I cannot find a way to reset this to use Tray 2 as the default tray.  I have checked all the OSD settings and used the web interface to attempt to rectify this.  I have installed the latest firmware and driver package on my test computer with no luck. I have read threads here for different printer models with the same issue but the solutions given are not available for the 4700 printer.
    TIA

The problem for me was that the paper tray setting slipped back from LTR to A4. Take out the paper tray and make sure the arrow is aligned with LTR.

  • How to turn off Manual Feed envelope prompt on printer scrn LaserJet Pro 200 Color MFP M276?

Somehow, in trying to figure out how to get an envelope to print from the feeder tray (which I found out isn't possible), I turned on something that produces a printer screen prompt that says something like 'Manual Feed" then says the size of envelope and waits for response.  This is every time I print an envelope & it's really a pain and I'm not finding where/how to turn this off.  Can anyone help?  Thanks in advance.

Hello miebs, and welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience!

  • Color LaserJet 1600 +door of magenta toner opens and catches manual feed items

I am baffled.  I have used this printer successfully for a couple of years and all of a sudden, after loading something to manually feed, it gets stuck thus causing a paper jam.  When I open the door to correct the jam, I notice that the magenta toner door is getting stuch under the envelope that is being fed.  The toner doors should all open and shut at the same time, but the magenta toner door opens widely before the printer door is shut and before the other toner doors open.  What is wrong?  Most appreciate any help.
In addition, I cannot get a copy of the HP toolbox for my device.  Does anyone know why that is?

You can check to see if the magenta toner door is broken. That may be the problem. See what it looks like, compared to the other cartridges.

  • Cannot Scan with Network Connected HP Color Laserjet 2840 MFP

Just acquired Lenovo T530 which comes with Windoze 7 installed.  My SOHO printer is an HP 2840 connected on LAN and I was able to use scanner function without problems from previous laptop running Win XP.
New laptop total failure as it doesn't see the scanner.  Have spent many hours updating and searching for solutions but without any luck. Quite a few postings on topic come up in Google but no solutions.  HP site useless as the links go in a loop without getting to an answer.
As T530 is brand new and under warranty I had assumed I would be able to ask Lenovo for help but cannot find how.
Meanwhile if anybody has solution please help.
    Budgie_one

Hi Budgie_one, a late welcome to the forum,
I have the same problem with my HP CM1017 colour laserjet multi-function, worked brilliant with XP but unfortunately HP never brought out scanner drivers to work with Win7, printing was all Ok.
I spent ages searching the HP forums where the proposed solution was to install the drivers in compatability mode, which never worked for me, so I gave up and ended up installing the thing in Win7 XP mode.  If I need to scan I just start the XP mode and all works as planned.

  • Cannot scan from HP Color Laserjet 2840 All In One Any Ideas?

I have a Mac Book Pro with OS 10.5.8 on it.  I recently had my MAC in for service and a full reinstall of the OS was necessary.  I was hoping that once I reinstalled the OS and other programs that everything would work.  Apparently I was wrong.  I could get my HP Color LaserJet 2840 printer working, however I was unable to get the scanning feature to work to scan documents into a folder on my computer.  I tried uninstalling and re-installing to no avail.  I looked inside the HP Director program and it showed that no Scanner or Utilities could be accessed.  They were greyed out.  Everything in HP Director was greyed out.  I took a look at the connections on the printer, restarted the printer a couple times, nothing worked.  My printer is connected through my network.  I am unsure what to try next.  Any ideas?

    Have you installed this driver?

  • HP Laserjet 2840 Mispick in the ADF, yet roller and seperator work fine

    We have a LaserJet 2840.
Everytime we try use the adf tray we get the error message: Mispick
We followed the manual and cleaned the rollers and seperaor - issue persisted so we replaced rollers and seperator.
We still get the "mispick" message.
Paper pulls through the adf just fine but it doesn't recognize that the paper is being pulled thoruhg.
My uneducated guess is that the "form sensor" is not working.
How can this be fixed... can this be fixed?
    Any other ideas?

I'm having the same problem with my wife's MacBook Pro. I've fixed it three or more times. It keeps coming back, and the same fix doesn't always work. My iMac, with the exact same configuration, has not had a problem since the first time. I have a (very old now) hp 4050dn connected to our LAN via ethernet through an Airport Express configured for relay.
Console logs always have two errors, one says that post processing failed, the other says something about a filter.
Test pages and files from Text Edit work, pdfs (from Acrobat or Preview) spool, but then the printer queue stops. Print jobs just pile up in the queue, but it's never one job holding the others up.
    I've deleted and recreated the printer. I've uninstalled and reinstalled drivers, including the hp 1.1 driver update (reinstalling that always worked until this last time, when nothing seems to work). I've restarted CUPS via terminal {
    cups disable
    cups enable
    I've restarted CUPs via terminal another way {
    sudo killall cupsd
    sudo cupsd
I've deleted and recreated print presets. I've reset the printer in the Systems Prefs Print and Fax pane. I've repaired permissions. I've probably done a bunch of other things, too. It's come back after a week or so every time, and this time, nothing is working. Bad news.

  • Z3 Compact scenes not working in manual camera mode

Hi. That's my problem: when I use manual camera, the scn button is grey and not working, so the HDR. They worked when I bought the phone, at Christmas... No mod root etc. Please help me!

It has to be set on Manual mode at 8mp
    HDR
Use the HDR (High Dynamic Range) setting to take a photo against strong back light or in conditions where the contrast is sharp. HDR compensates for the loss of detail and produces a picture that is representative of both dark and bright areas.
This setting is only available in Manual capturing mode.
    ISO
You can reduce image blurring caused by dark conditions or moving subjects by increasing the ISO sensitivity.
    Auto
    Sets the ISO sensitivity automatically.
    50
Sets the ISO sensitivity to 50.
    100
Sets the ISO sensitivity to 100.
    200
Sets the ISO sensitivity to 200.
    400
Sets the ISO sensitivity to 400.
    800

    1600
Sets the ISO sensitivity to 1600.
    3200
Sets the ISO sensitivity to 3200.
This setting is only available in Manual capturing mode.
    Metering
This function automatically determines a well-balanced exposure by measuring the amount of light striking the image you want to capture.
    Centre
Measures the centre of the image, and determines the exposure based on the brightness of the subject there.
    Spot
Adjusts the exposure in a very small part of the image that you want to capture.
    Face
Measures the amount of light on the face, and adjusts the exposure so that the face is neither too dark or too bright.
    Multi
Divides the image into multiple regions, and measures each region to determine a well-balanced exposure.
This setting is only available in Manual capturing mode.
    Image stabiliser
When taking a photo, it can be difficult to hold the device steady. The stabiliser helps you by compensating for small movements of the hand.
This setting is only available in Manual capturing mode.
    Preview
You can choose to preview photos or videos just after you shoot them.
    Unlimited
The preview of the photo or video appears after you shoot it.
    5 seconds
The preview of the photo or video apears for 5 seconds after you shoot it.
    3 seconds
The preview of the photo or video appears for 3 seconds after you shoot it.
    Edit
The photo or video opens for editing after you shoot it.
    Off
The photo or video is saved after you shoot it, and no preview appears.
Face registrationYou can register faces with the Camera application so that the viewfinder automatically focuses on these faces when they appear in the viewfinder.
    Flash
Use the flash to take photos when lighting conditions are poor or when there is a backlight. The following options are available when you tap the flash icon in the camera screen:
    Auto
The camera automatically determines if the lighting conditions require the use of a flash.
    Fill flash
Use this setting when the background is brighter than the subject. This removes unwanted dark shadows.
    Red-eye reduction
Reduces the red colour of eyes when taking a photo.
    Off
The flash is turned off. Sometimes photo quality can be better without the flash, even if lighting conditions are poor. Taking a good photo without using the flash requires a steady hand. Use the self-timer to avoid blurred photos.
    Torch
A torch or camera light is turned on when you take photos.
    Scene selection
Use the Scene selection feature to quickly set up the camera for common situations using pre-programmed scenes. The camera determines a number of settings for you to fit the selected scene, ensuring the best possible photo.
    Off
The Scene selection feature is off and you can take photos manually.
    Soft Skin
Take photos of faces using an enhanced beauty effect.
    Soft snap
Use for shooting photos against a soft background.
    Anti motion blur
Use for minimising camera shake when shooting a slightly dark scene.
    Landscape
Use for landscape photos. The camera focuses on distant objects.
    Backlight correction HDR
Use to improve details in high contrast shots. The built-in backlight correction analyses the image and automatically adjusts it to give you a perfectly lit shot.
    Night portrait
Use for portrait photos taken at night or in poorly lit environments. Due to long exposure time, the camera must be held still or placed on a stable surface.
    Night scene
Use when taking photos at night or in poorly lit environments. Due to long exposure time, the camera must be held still or placed on a stable surface.
    Hand-held twilight
Use for taking hand-held low-light photos with reduced noise and blur.
    High sensitivity
Use for taking photos without a flash under low light conditions. Reduces blur.
    Gourmet
Use for shooting food arrangements in bright colour.
    Pet
Use for taking photos of your pet. Reduces blur and red eyes.
    Beach
Use for taking photos of seaside or lakeside scenes.
    Snow
Use in bright environments to avoid overexposed photos.
    Party
Use for indoor photos in poorly lit environments. This scene picks up indoor background lighting or candlelight. Due to long exposure time, the camera must be held still or placed on a stable surface.
    Sports
Use for photos of fast-moving objects. Short exposure time minimises motion blurring.
    Document
Use for photos of text or drawings. Gives the photo increased, sharper contrast.
    Fireworks
Use for taking photos of fireworks in all their splendour.
This setting is only available in Manual capturing mode.

  • Can i manual feed to print a label

Do I have to load labels into the paper tray or is there a way to manually feed a single sheet?

It is always recommend to load labels one sheet at a time. Also, it is advisable to run a test page first to make sure that you have the page loaded correctly. I would advise running the test page on regular page then overlaying that on your labels.
As to where you will load the labels, this depends on the type of printer you have.  For most printer models, you will load your labels into the paper tray, however some models, esepcially laserjets, have a priority feed tray where the labels are feed into the printer.

  • CP1518ni, manual feed error

My Laserjet CP1518ni gives me a manual feed error message with every print job.  This started when I manually fed using Paper Tray 1 to complete a print job.  I must have changed a setting somewhere and have no idea how to change it back.  I've printed the Configuration page and it shows the Manual Feed is ON under the Paper Settings, but when I go into Paper Settings, there are no options to change the Manual Feed.
Any suggestions or help on where to make that change would be appreciated.
