Manual feed - Pers. LW 320

Can someone tell me how to use the manual feed on the Personal LaserWriter 320?
I want to print on some small size (10x7") card stock.
Thank you.

The paper output selector can be puzzling, and some of these printers have the actuating lever broken off. If you stare at the back (opposite of the paper cassette end) you will see two page-shaped Icons embossed into the right end of the Outside of the flip-down back panel. One has a page with no writing (indicating face-down delivery into the tray on top) the other has a page with writing (indicating face up delivery onto the table behind the printer).
The beige select lever, if still present, protrudes about an inch into space next to those Icons. The slot across most of the back panel has a slight notch at the right end where the lever should be. If the lever is present, the solution is obvious -- flip it to the position corresponding to the delivery Icon you prefer.
If the lever is broken off, more work is required. Flip down the door and you will see that a black plastic piece, attached to the flip-down door, extends the full length of the slot. This is the part that actually deflects the page into the top or out the back. It is very easy to re-position with slight finger pressure, and snaps into one of two positions. Lever Up = deflector down and in = face down delivery on top. Lever down = deflector up and out = face up delivery on the table behind.

  • Laserwriter 320 manual feed jam

While manually printing envelopes, the manual feed stopped working: the printer begins to draw the envelope in, but then suddenly stops, then the paper jam light goes on. Regular paper jams, too, not just envelopes. Auto feed from the paper tray still works. Tried using a new printing cartridge. No luck.

You can get a kit from fixyourownprinter.com to fix that exact Personal LaserWriter 320 issue: http://tinyurl.com/7vma64. I used their kits & almost managed to revive a near dead Personal LaserWriter NTR. Until the Fuser & replacement power supply I bought died on me. Finding the Rev 4.0 ROM Upgrade Kit was impossible too so I eventually was forced to get rid of it.

  • How to turn off Manual Feed envelope prompt on printer scrn LaserJet Pro 200 Color MFP M276?

Somehow, in trying to figure out how to get an envelope to print from the feeder tray (which I found out isn't possible), I turned on something that produces a printer screen prompt that says something like 'Manual Feed" then says the size of envelope and waits for response.  This is every time I print an envelope & it's really a pain and I'm not finding where/how to turn this off.  Can anyone help?  Thanks in advance.

Hello miebs, and welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience!
I see you are having envelope issues. I would love to try and help you, but I do need a little information first. I am linking a few HP Support documents below that will show you how to find which operating system you are using. Also, if you're using Windows, please include whether your operating system is 32-bit or 64-bit. With this information we can provide you with accurate information.

Which Windows operating system am I running?
Is the Windows Version on My Computer 32-bit or 64-bit?
Also, What programs are you printing from?  Does it occur from multiple programs?
Please let me know what you find.  Thanks for posting on the HP Forums!

  • HP LaserJet 4200 -- manual feed tray not working after 10.6 install

    Hi all...
One of my users pointed this out to me. I'm looking for confirmation (or a solution)?
We have an HP LaserJet 4200 printer added to our mac clients as an IP printer. Under 10.5.8, printing to "Tray 1 (Manual)" goes where you think it would -- to the manual feed tray.
Upgrading to 10.6.1? Manual print jobs are going to the internal "Tray 3".
It's the same behavior if I use the 10.6.1 "5.3.0" printer driver or the HP Printer Update 2.1 updated "5.4.0" version.
Can anybody else confirm/deny the problem with their 4200 printer under 10.6? If you can confirm it, do you know of a fix (short of rolling back to 10.5.8).
A remove and readd of the printer did not help here. Unfortunately.
    Thanks!
    - Steve

    Resolved this two ways:
    1) the "gutenprint" driver worked.
    2) The larger problem was the manual tray had been set to "A4" size.
I used the web admin interface to set this to "any size" and "any" type and that fixed the problem with the 5.4.0 "LaserJet 4200 Series" default printer driver...
Luckily, somebody else on campus had one of these printers and we were able to compare the printer setting differences to figure this out.
    I hope this helps somebody!

  • LaserJet 4700dn Always prints from Tray 1 (Manual Feed)

I have a networked LaserJet 4700dn in a lab environment that recently has starting trying to print all jobs on the manual feed Tray 1.  I cannot find a way to reset this to use Tray 2 as the default tray.  I have checked all the OSD settings and used the web interface to attempt to rectify this.  I have installed the latest firmware and driver package on my test computer with no luck. I have read threads here for different printer models with the same issue but the solutions given are not available for the 4700 printer.
    TIA

The problem for me was that the paper tray setting slipped back from LTR to A4. Take out the paper tray and make sure the arrow is aligned with LTR.

  • Custom size manual feed?

Why do envelopes default to a manual feed, but custom sizes pull from the main paper tray? Can you change which feed type the custom size defaults to?
I have a Lexmark E234n mono laser printer which works just fine. I like to print odd sized stuff, though, like bank deposit slips, envelopes and index cards. Usually, I call up a #10 envelope in Page Setup, and format my page to stay within the actual paper. When I print, the printer defaults to the manual feed slot, and patiently waits for me to insert the envelope.
Today, I got the bright idea to create a custom paper size for 4x6 index cards. Pages formats the page fine, of course. But, when I print, it pulls from the main tray instead of waiting for a manual feed.
Logically, wouldn't most people who make a custom size use the manual feed slot? That is the input method for irregularly shaped items after all, and the main tray is usually filled with normal sized paper.
Any printer-fooling workarounds would be much appreciated!

    Peter:
The "where to print" dialog takes place in the print menu, not the page setup. So, even in a template, the print dialog follows the last file printed, rather than any data in the template.
There are a couple of ways to make it happen, but they are "workarounds" for the issue. I can do that, of course; I have been using workarounds since my Mac Plus. The answer I am looking for is why does the printer know when you select an envelope page setup, but not when you select a 4x6 card setup. There is a difference in the page setup, and I would like access to it, if possible.
You may be right, though, about it being in the driver from the printer mfr. If that is the case, there is probably not much hope for a complete solution. It used to do it in my GCC laser, too, if I recall correctly.
    Thanks.

  • Printer Driver Problem?  Page margins shift when using paper tray vs. manual feed

I am printing to an Apple LaserWriter 12/640 PS. The printed page and page margins are PERFECT (WYSIWYG; "What you see is what you get") when printing either to: (a) the MANUAL FEED TRAY of the Apple LaserWriter 12/640 PS; or (b) PDF to view on screen.
HOWEVER, when printing to the LaserWriter using the (ordinary/usual) paper cassette (you know, the thing that holds the 200+ sheeets of blank paper), two margin problems occur: (1) the uppermost portion of page content is shifted down 3/4" (maybe closer to 11/16") vs. its position on the manually fed paper.  This, in turn, causes the botttom portion of the page content to run off below the printed page.  (2) The "unprintable region" on the right edge of the paper expands from 1/8" with the manually fed paper to 7/16" when using the paper cassette.  This shows up as an extra 5/16" (7/16" - 1/8" = 5/16") of white space/missing page content on the right edge.
The problem is consistent and reproduceable.  It happens with cassette fed output from Safari, Word 2011, Acrobat X, TurboTax, Quicken Essentials for Mac, and TextEdit.
BIG problem when printing long documents whose content and margin settings I cannot control (e.g., third-party documents from Acrobat, anything from Quicken Essentials or TurboTax, pages from Safari, etc.).  The only workaround is to feed everything manually (UGGH!).
I suspect the printer driver is faulty since the problem detailed above happens with so many applications.  Is there a way to edit a plist (using the application/utility "Pref Setter" or similar) to overide the driver's margin settings?
I believe the print driver is "Apple LaserWriter 12/640 PS v2015.105" (from Sytem Prefences->Print&Scan->Options and Supplies->Driver).
    Any help greatly appreceated.

Thanks!  It works perfectly!  I even saved my original "oversize" document by printing it to PDF with the scaling so the problem is permanently cured, at least for this document.

  • Officejet Pro K8600 Manual Feed - User Guide Instructions

After much difficulty trying to use the K8600 rear manual feed slot, I stumbled into the instructions for loading paper in the user guide. I think the "Print with the rear manual feed slot" instructions should be modified to make it clear that paper loading is much more complex than one might expect.  This is the first time I encountered a printer where just placing the paper in the feed slot and then telling the software to print does not work.  The "Load media" reference must be read to be successful.  The correct procedure is:
    1.  Set the printer preferences to "manual feed"
    2.  Wait for the resume light to blink.
    3.  Place the paper in the rear slot.
    4.  Press the resume button (far right button).
    5.  Wait for the printer to detect the paper.
    6.  Press the resume button again to print.
The manual feed documentation and hardware fails the "user friendly" test.  The printer preferences dialog could (should?) display some instructions when the manual feed paper source is selected.
    Comments or criticism is welcome.

Thanks for this. I found the same.  I also found that you have to give the paper/card a slight push to get the printer to recognise and feed it at step 3.  Maybe the rear feed is faulty or needs a clean.
It took ages to get it to work and I must say that whilst this printer is great when it works, getting it to work reliably is another matter.  I have it attached as a network device and it often just stops working.  I believe HP release updates for this from time to time so it must be a recognised problem.
I have also just replaced a print head (black/yellow) and the new replacement was faulty, so I don't seem to have much luck.  I had a CP1700 before this one and that was also unreliable.  I had had hoped that the 8600 would be reliable, but this puts me off buying another HP unit for the office.
Perhaps someone from HP will kindly reply and advise if there are any suitable maitneance steps or checks that I can make.  That would help to restore confidence.

  • Can only print with manual feed and NOT from the paper tray from websites

When I try to print something from a website, I must manually feed the paper in the manual feed slot. It will not print from the tray. This problem does not happen when I print something from an email with no downloads or something from MSword or Excel. So, it's most likely a browser printer setting issue. Any ideas?
    Thanks

Probably related to printer preferences and how they relate to Firefox. If you did the complete reset all the printer setting that Firefox would saved would have been cleared and gone back to the default settings. Without familiarity with that specific printer ''(or even knowing which printer you are using)'' the best advice I can offer is to seek help from a support forum for that brand printer, or for you to reinstall the printer software to get back to the defaults.

  • CP 2025 Duplex Printing Requires Manual Feed

Just got this printer and when I print double sided, it flashes yellow and requires me to feed a sheet of paper into the manual feed, which ends up being a cover page. Page 2 of the document is placed on a second sheet of paper and the remaining pages print fine. Very irritating to have to feed a sheet for each print job.
    Please help,

HP again, may-be this time with their great Buddy in war Mircosoft.... Installed windows 7 prof (32bit) and then installed the c7280 as a network printer (like one does that in Microsoft).... BIGGG SURPRISE... printer found, workx.  EXCEPT: to make sure that as of Windows 7 and further nobody can complain about pop-ups which say that you can't duplex and if you say print anyway it works, this driver has just taken "automatic" out of the selections of duplexing!!!
A simple solution:  go to the printers folder, right click on the C7280, Printer Properties, Device Settings and set the duplex unit to "installed", OK.

  • Color LaserJet 1600 +door of magenta toner opens and catches manual feed items

I am baffled.  I have used this printer successfully for a couple of years and all of a sudden, after loading something to manually feed, it gets stuck thus causing a paper jam.  When I open the door to correct the jam, I notice that the magenta toner door is getting stuch under the envelope that is being fed.  The toner doors should all open and shut at the same time, but the magenta toner door opens widely before the printer door is shut and before the other toner doors open.  What is wrong?  Most appreciate any help.
In addition, I cannot get a copy of the HP toolbox for my device.  Does anyone know why that is?

You can check to see if the magenta toner door is broken. That may be the problem. See what it looks like, compared to the other cartridges.

  • Officejet 8610 print manual feed?

I often have to print the back of a single sheet and it's a pain pulling out the tray to load one piece of paper. This was a cinch on a printer that had a vertical tray on the back. Is there no manual feed on the 8610???

    Hello @Slycat!
Thank you for posting on the HP Forums today!
From what I gather by your question, you are printing on the back side of a single document, but does the document already have print on the other side?
If so then yes you will have to pull out the try and put that document print side up.  The printer only has an input try for printing on the front of the machine and does not have a top feeder designed for printing.  You will have to pull out the try to put in a single page manually.
If your document has no print on the other side then you can use the two sided printing option within the HP software. Please follow the document for Printing on Both Sides of the Paper (Duplexing) for HP Officejet Pro 8610 e-All-in-One Printer Serie....
I hope i was able to provide some help regarding your concern. please post back and let me know how it goes!

  • Can i manual feed to print a label

Do I have to load labels into the paper tray or is there a way to manually feed a single sheet?

It is always recommend to load labels one sheet at a time. Also, it is advisable to run a test page first to make sure that you have the page loaded correctly. I would advise running the test page on regular page then overlaying that on your labels.
As to where you will load the labels, this depends on the type of printer you have.  For most printer models, you will load your labels into the paper tray, however some models, esepcially laserjets, have a priority feed tray where the labels are feed into the printer.

  • P1505 "Status: Manual Feed Required."

I installed a P1505 on a Vista laptop via USB last week, and it worked fine. Today, the user called me and said that after she'd turned her printer on (which she claimed she hadn't turned off?) this morning, she printed one document, and it began saying "Manual Feed Required" and refuses to print anything else. I am at a loss, there don't seem to be any troubleshooting docs which refer to this error, googling brings up references to using the printer on a print server which is no help to me, and reinstalling the printer software drivers etc seems to have not done anything.
