Manual for laptop BIOS v1.20 ?

Guys, hi!
Please help me find a manual for the BIOS for my laptop -  HP ProBook 470 G1 (E9Y73EA).
There are a bunch of settings that I can't understand.
BIOS is version 1.20 (AIDA64 calls it "Compaq EFI v.120 L74" whatever that means)
Searched everywhere but can't find anything. General user manuals don't cut it. Thanks a bunch!!

Thanks, however in that manual pages 86-101 are devoted to BIOS but only cover the most basic stuff - like entering and exiting the BIOS, updated it and resetting to factory defaults. No explanation for the individual settings in the BIOS itself. The internal BIOS hints aren't very helpful either and do not cover most of the buttons and flags
I doubt they go in very details as that is up to you to look at each settings and go step by step. This is something you must also do and that will better inform you of your system settings.

  • Where to get Disassembly Manual for Toshiba P505D laptops (P505D-S8007)

Is there any place to download the Disassembly Manual for the Toshiba P505D series of laptops (mine is the P505D-S8007).
    Thanks!

I have followed the above referenced video and successfully disassembled the Toshiba P505D-8930.  The video was almost a perfect guide with perhaps one exception.  It shows taking ribbon cables off quickly, and not in any detail.  I almost wrecked on cable so I'd like to pass on what I found.  There are 3 types of cables on the board (my own made upped names):  a plug in, a slide in and a clip in.
The plug in is sort of obvious because the wired portion is inserted into a plug.  You grab the wired plastic portion, pull outwards while wiggling slightly left and right.
The slide in cable has a piece of extra plastic hanging from the ribbon cable.  The plastic is used to pull the cable out of the socket (again wiggling as pulling).  However, be careful.  Look to make sure it is not a plug in or a clip in first.  The piece of extra pulling plastic does not, by itself, mean it is a slide in cable.
Lastly, is the clip cable.  On my board the clip cables have a white socket with a thin black piece of plastic in front.  If you take your fingernail and put in under the black plastic, you can push upwards and the plastic will swivel up 90 degrees to the unclipped position.  You then pull on the plastic tab to remove the cable.
One mistake I made was on a cable that ran from 2 plugs on the far right hand side to one plug in the middle of the board.  The middle, single plug had a black cloth pull tab instead of plastic and I thought it was a slide in.  I pulled on the cloth and it ripped (because it was a plug type, not a slide in).  I think I only damaged the cloth and not the underlying wires but it is why you should check, double check, that it is not a clip/plug before pulling on something.
When following the video, you do not need to remove the LCD screws/screen if you have nothing that needs to be done to it.  The motherboard comes out fine without removing the screen.
The CPU is as I described it in the previous post but the screw to release it has to be turned 180 degrees (the screw will stop turning when fully unlocked or locked.  Turn counterclockwise to unlock, clockwise to lock).
The YouTube video is outstanding but it only shows how to unassembled it, not reassemble it.  You can get the video to run backwards by using freeware called Video Time Reversal 2 located at:  http://www.xander.free.fr/info/Time_Reversal/index_en.html.
Keep track of your screws and where they go.  The screws in the plastic base the motherboard metal casing and the motherboard itself have different sizes.  As you remove screws, note the labeling near the screws (etched in the black plastic base, the metal interior casing or the motherboard).  The larger screws are indicated by" an Arrow symbol on the motherboard, an etched number of M25x6.51 in the metal casing and F8 on the plastic housing.
I know the original post is old and so is the computer.  But it is old stuff that needs work and it is always the hardest to find.  Hope this helps someone.

There may be one 'lurking' on the hard drive, but if you can't find it, this is the M300 Series User Guide:

  • Manual for ms-7223 lies!

Hi, hope someone can help me with this as it's driving me crazy!
I downloaded the manual for my board (ms-7223) because I couldn't find any FSB settings in the BIOS. The manual shows a picture of the Cell_Menu with FSB options (below)
What's weird is that when I go into the Cell_Menu in BIOS I get the same but missing the FSB settings! (I've doctored the image above to show what I can see)
I've searched the MSI site for a new BIOS, found just one updated one, installed it but shows no difference apart from a different Live Update image and an update of the CPU microcode (don't really know what that is).
I've also downloaded ClockGen, but I don't know the PLL of my processor and haven't managed to find it out yet. It's a P4 640 3.2Ghz if anybody can help with that also.
Any help greatly appreciated on this.
    Thanks.

  • Is there anywhere a technical manual for the NB100 ?

Is there anywhere a technical manual for the NB100 ?
I want to replace my internal harddisk with a bigger one and don´t want to destroy anything so a manual for the best way to open the NB100 would be a good thing :-)
    cola

The upgrade is not that hard. There is no need to completely disassemble the unit. Remove the screws from the underside, then remove the cover at the top of the keyboard (the cover with the on/off switch on). Remove the screws from under the cover and then remove the keyboard, gently unclipping the ribbon. unclip the ribbon for the touchpad and the wireless aerials (x2). At this stage the HDD is accessible on the left side, remove the screws and gently pull the HDD out.
Once the new drive is fitted, reverse the procedure. I had no option but to replace mine, as I was on an overseas trip when the Toshiba HDD failed (the system was saying I had no HDD fitted) and as I had only taken the NB100 with me I had no choice if I wanted a working laptop for the trip, I stripped my external HDD and fitted it into the NB100, I now have a NB100 with a 250 GB HDD and it's perfect.

  • User manual for a Equium M40X-230?

    Hi there,
The screen needs replacing on my Toshiba Equium M40X-230, and I've been looking for a online version (pdf) of the user manual for it (As it's second hand so I don't own any of the toshiba documents) I basically need it mainly for a insight of how the laptops screen is fitted, I was wondering if anyone can link me to it if they know of it's where abouts as I've checked the Toshiba website and my model isn't listed when I come to try and obtain it.
    Thanks!
    James

Thanks for the reply however, when it comes to selecting my model it is not listed. I can select the product series as M, but after that it doesn't have my model number listed.
Does this mean Toshiba do not have the user manual for my equium in a pdf format?
    Thanks,
    James

  • HELP urgently needed: My Sandberg FireWire for Laptop will not start on my T60

Let me start with information on my T60:
    OS information: Microsoft Windows XP
OS version: 5.10.2600   Service Pack 2
    Processor: x86 Family 6 Model 14 Stepping 8
    Memory: 3.135.856 kb
    BIOS version: 2.09  (79ETC9WW)
    Machine type-Model: 1951A47
I have just got a new Sandberg FireWire for Laptop, a PC Card with 3 6-pins connectiont. After inserting the card in the PC Card slot, the Windows Device Manager tells me that there are problems with the card. Looking at the 1394 Card Properties the status says:
"This device cannot start. (Code 10) - Click Troubleshoot to start the troubleshooter for this device."
The troubleshooter did not solve my problem. I have tried disconnecting, re-connection, shut down Windows and start again etc.
At Sandberg Help Desk they tell me that I have two slots in my laptop, one with a 16 bits bus and another with a 32 bits slots, and I should use the latter. It seems that I can use the lower slide only in my laptop and I cannot push the card into the upper slide. There is not enough room for it.
Here is what I found on Lenovo's support site on my type & model:
     PC Card
Conforms to the PC Card Standard 95
    Type II slot
Both the 16-bit Release 2.1 card standard and the 32-bit CardBus card are supported.
Have a look at these screen captures.
What should I do to solve my urgent problem!?

Sounds to me like a driver configuration problem.  Maybe something bad happened during driver install.  I would recommend uninstalling the device from device manager by right clicking on it and hitting uninstall.  Reboot the computer.  Have a go at it again.  Also, test your pcmcia port functionality by finding and plugging in a different card.  See if that works.  It might need repair.

    The status right now is:
The PC Card reader works on my T60
If I use a Firewire PC Card it will not start - as described above (on T60)
The PC Card work properly on my T61P - and I succeeded importing a video file from a digital camera using the Fireswire PC Card.
So what does a wise man do in this situation??
Please help me as I urgently need to know how to solve this serious issue!!
Have you got an idea? Can I import the video in another way??

  • How to manage IP address assignment for laptops?

    Dear All,
I'm looking for an efficient way to manage IP address assignment for laptops.
I have a DHCP server with reservation for all my devices.
Laptops usually have 2 NICs: LAN and WiFi card.
So, how can I manage the IP assignment for these devices?
If I make a DHCP reservetion with two different IP addresses, I can have problems with DNS round-robin.
Should I enable the DNS secure dynamic update for domain members and then reserve two different IP addresses on DHCP?
I don't want that user needs to manually change their NIC configuration.
    What you suggest?
    Thanks

The best way to manage it would be to "not" manage it.  DHCP by definition is supposed to be "dynamic".  DHCP Reservations are great for a few devices that live under "special circumstances" but you never want to set Reservations for everything,...if
you do that then just don't have DHCP to start with and statically assign everything.
The combination of DHCP with dynamically updated DNS in AD means you never have to know or ever care what the IP# is.  Everything is referred to by it's hostname.
Some things to keep in mind:
Every interfaces has a different MAC,...meaning the Laptops have two MACs. Therefore it is impossible to reserve the same IP# for both. So they end up with a different IP# depending on which Nic they use.  Running two laptop nics on the same LAN at
the same time is always bad.  Either always use the wireless,...or always turn off the wireless nic when laptops are local within your facility and can use the physical nic.   In other words pick one,...or the other,...never allow both to work
at the same time.  This is a responsibility and education issue of the user,...you can't do this for them.
User can not change their own network IP Specs unless they are Local Administrators on their machines,...and they should never be allowed to be Local Administrators.
