Manual installation of Flash CS4 security update patch fails

Vista Home Premium
CS4 Design Premium
Am attempting to install Windows flash_player_update2_flash10
using the Admin account. Followed these instructions:
1. Quilt Flash CS4 Professional (NOTE: actually closed all
programs)
2. Right click flash_player_update2_flash10.zip
3. Select Extract All....
4. Extract the contents of the file to:
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Flash CS4\
5. When asked to replace the existing Players folder, choose
Yes
Shortly after giving administrative okay to the install and
clicking "yes" to the "copy and replace" popup, I get a Windows
popup with this message:
"Windows found that this file is potentially harmful. To help
portect your computer, Windows has blocked access to the file.
Name: FlashPlayer.exe" OK"
No options on the popup except "OK" whichs stops the
installation. I realize this is a Windows issue, but it's also a
CS4 installation issue. (I find it extremely ironic that Windows
detects the installation of a security update as a security issue.)
Any suggestions?

You're going to get a lot more attention in the Flash forum than you
will here.

Pls help to suggest a solution for this issue.

You need to update it with Windows Update. You can also go to: Flash Player Issues | Windows 8
and at the bottom grab the KB, however I've had much better luck using Windows update than I have with the KB alone.

  • Windows 7 internet security will not allow the installation of Flash Player 17 Update

Windows 7 internet security will not allow the installation of the Flash Player 17 update.  I have tried the direct install using the IE_AX update without success.

    Hi,
Thanks for the screenshot.  It's very helpful. Essentially, this is an issue with the internet security settings on your machine (Internet Explorer > Internet Options > Security), and not a Flash Player issue.  I Googled "internet security settings prevented one or more files from opening' and it returned numerous hits.  I'm posting a few for you, however, I'm not endorsing any of them.  I recommend you search your self and select one you feel comfortable with.

  • Installer unable to validate security update- help please

i keep getting installer unable to install...security updates 2010-03/quicktime updates and so on. Why is this happening and how can i fix it. I have tried Onyx and clean my mac to try and clean up files in hopes it will randomly update and fix. im getting frustrated right now and I need some advise and direction. Onyx says my volume is ok.

Move all the files that have softwareupdate in their title out of your user's /Library/Preferences/ and ByHost subfolder, restart, and try again. If that doesn't do it, then boot with your Leopard install disk and reinstall it, selecting the Archive & Install, saving user and network settings, option. If that fixes the issue, run Software Update and bring the OS back up to 10.5.8. If not, then I'm out of ideas.

  • Will Apple still provide security updates\patches to iOS 5.1.1?

Can someone please confirm if will Apple still provide security updates and patches to iOS 5 (5.1.1)?
I really really hope the answer is YES because iOS 5 was released less then a year ago (October 12, 2011)... So I truly hope Apple is not throwing us under the bus here? I mean even Microsoft provides OS security patch support for 10 years so please NO fanboys or Apple defenders... just be real.

iOS 6 works perfectly fine for me.
    Regarding your maps issue,
Apple is constantly working on improving their new Maps service, but until it reaches the level of finesse necessary to be usable, take a look at some alternatives.
If you would like to send a suggestion to Apple, please go to http://www.apple.com/feedback or you can Report a Problem via the Maps app by tapping the bottom right.
Bing Maps offers a very good maps service with Bird's Eye, a feature similar to Flyover. It's arguably better than Google Maps.

  • Flash MX/6  update/patch

Hello.  Yes this is a question about an old obsolete version,  but does anyone know where I can get the update/patch that upgrades Flash MX 6.0 to 6.0 r25 ?  Would have expected to find this on Adobe's site somewhere - on an archive probably - can't locate it though.  Update downloads only seem to go back to Flash 7.   Any ideas ?
    thanks

PS I have a fully licensed version of Flash MX but had to reinstall it due to a machine failure and I no longer have the patch.

  • Adobe Flash Player Security Updates after Windows XP End of Support

    Hi,
I have to check up for our customer, whether there will be any Security Updates for Adobe Flash Player on Windows XP after End of Support next year.
Haven't found any information on the web :-(
    Thanks in advance,
    Nicolai

I don't know, and like you, haven't seen anything.
    Here's what I do know.
Android dropped ALL support for Flash Playe June 2012 and Adobe continued to develop and release security updates for the older Android Flash Player versions up till September 10 of this year.
Support for Linux ended with version 11.2, but security fixes for Linux Flash Player are still being developed and released.
Given the still-widespread use of XP in schools and corporate environments, I'd have to say that support (at least security updates) will go on for a while after next June14 when Microsoft officially "sunsets" XP. How long that will be is not info I have.

  • Logging after installation of lthe last Security Update

The same thing is happening to me, and I am a couple of applications I try to use "unexpectedly quit" when I open them--applications that I updated immediately after the Security Update. Also, my computer will not recognize my external La Cie hard drive! Help!

  • Security Updates/Patches Effecting Sharepoint 2007/2013 on prem

    Good Morning,
I was hoping someone could help me out.  Our office is about to do some long overdue patching of our Windows Servers.  I have been tasked with doing research to determine if there are any known issues with SP 2007 or SP 2013 on prem as a result
of patching servers.  The only patches we plan to install at the moment are the important and critial patches.  So my question is, is there one good place to find these answers or do you just have to search the web and hope you find something?
It seems to me that having one main location to log patch issues would be extremely helpful.  Is there such place?
    Thanks,
    Nelson

In terms of SharePoint patches, there isn't an end-all-be-all source. Todd Klindt keeps a list of community-discovered issues here: http://toddklindt.com/blog/Lists/Posts/Post.aspx?ID=346. However, it will never be exhaustive. Your best bet is to
test all patches in a test environment prior to going to production.

  • Security Update (KB2917500) fails to update on SCCM client

In this latest batch of December updates, I've run across about 4 updates that stubbornly refuse to update from the Software Center. They all return an error 0x87D00705 which in a CMTrace lookup says the error is "Pause State Required". The actual

without diving into all the other logs to see what's happening in the time-frame, it looks like the "normal" sequence of detect->download->install->confirm, isn't getting traction.

  • Flash Plug-in security updates

When there is a critical security patch update, I always see a link to download the latest Flash Player security update.  But I do not see any specific link to security updates for Flash Player Plug-in for Other Browsers.  Why is that?  Does Flash Player security update download cover both the Active-X (IE) and Plug-in (Firefox and other browsers)?  Perhaps I do not understand how Flash Player is related to the Active-X version and the Plug-in version.  Thanks.

It's because the web page detects the browser being used and therefore displays the appropriate download. If you want to see what a website detects when you visit a page, go to this site: http://whatsmyuseragent.com/
I think it's fair to say that users of other browsers don't use IE very much. You still need it to go to the Windows Update site if you use Windows XP, but Vista/7 can update via Control Panel, so IE is superfluous in that environment. I still haven't installed Flash in IE myself yet.
Here's the latest Adobe bulletin for the Flash vulnerability in case it helps: http://www.adobe.com/support/security/bulletins/apsb12-05.html

  • Security Update for Flash Video

The Security Update for Dreamweaver CS3 from downloads
APSB08-01.zip does not have the correct date. The Security Bulletin
says to verify the creation date of the file Adobe Dreamweaver
    CS3\configuration\Templates\Video_Player. The date should be
January 15, 2008 according to the Bulletin.
I have gone through the procedure three times and still end
up with the wrong date. Is the bulletin wrong? Would a January 9,
2008 date be correct? If not, I desperately need help to resolve
    this problem.
    Thanks in advance.
    Pat

I've noticed this too. Just had to do a fresh install of
Vista, after installing DW CS3 I downloaded the Flash player
    security update by following
    http://www.adobe.com/support/security/bulletins/apsb08-01.html?trackingid=BUCMS&pss=dw_9.0 _win_en_full___20040226
    to
    http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=kb402925&sliceId=2
When extracted, the files contained within APSB08-01.zip have
a date of January 1, 2008; however the text indicates the date of
extracted files should be January 15, 2008.
Would it not make more sense for this update to simply be
included as other updates within the Adobe Updater?
As the poster above me, Secunia is also reporting these files
as insecure even after downloaded from the above links and
    applied.

  • Wireless keyboard problem after installation of security update

I have an Apple wireless keyboard and wireless mouse that have been working fine up until installation of the latest security update. The mouse still works, but the keyboard doesn't. I'm getting a dialog box that tells me the computer found the keyboard and to enter a "passkey" which is something I've never seen before with the keyboard. It provides me with a numerical passkey. I enter the passkey, but it says there is an error, to make sure my keyboard is discoverable, and to try again. Every time I try, I get the same results. I've repaired permissions and changed the batteries in the keyboard.
I'm looking for some help as to what else I can do. Thanks in advance.

Changed the firewall setting for Thunderbird in Norton's Internet Security from "Auto" to Allow" and this fixed the problem.
I had updated to a new version of Norton's on 3/11/14. Don't know why the problem did not manifest itself until the Thunderbird security update installed on 3/18/14..
Very happy it is now fixed!!! Thanks!!!

  • Can't Install Security Update 2008-007

Using Software Update it states that it downloaded Security Update 2008-007 ver 1.0. When I restart my computer it begins the installation process. However, it hangs on "Configuring Installation".
When I try to manually download and install the Security Update it won't allow me to choose my hard drive as the volume. It states that the volume doesn't meet the 'requirements'.
I have a MacBook Air SSD with 12GB of space available. Anyone have any ideas? Is this update not for the MBA? Or do I need to change some settings somewhere to get this to install?

I solved the issue by going to apple's supprt site and downloading the standalone installer.
Take note in Software Update how big the file is that it wants to download. Mine was 31Mb.
So when I went here: http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/ I downloaded the 31MB file of the security update.
I then opened the installer, let it install and restart, now the security update doesn't come up when I open Software Update.
Does this work for others? Make sure you are getting the correct file off the apple site. Check the size of the file in Software Update.
