Manual installation of Windows update to servers

Hi,
We have 90 windows 2008 servers and every month we do a manual patch these servers.
WSUS server pushes the patches to the servers, but we need to login to all servers and manual to do the installation.
How can i  automate the  update installation on all servers?
Is there any script which can initiate the update on these servers?
Thanks
Venky

Hi 07Venky,
You can setup the WSUS server, then configure the related GPO on the Hyper-V servers then set this server update settings as “Install updates automatically (recommended)”
, then this server will automatically install the updates from your WSUS server.

Manual Installation Of Windows Xp Media Center Edition 2005 On Toshiba Qosmio F30 Laptop
    Last Update 3 Oct 2006
    Important Notes Before You Start:
1-These Steps Used For "Toshiba Qosmio F30" And For Other Qosmio Models That Comes With "Intel Centrino Duo" Cpu's And With Xp Media Center 2005 Installed.
2-Apply These Steps If You Have Previous Experience In Installing Windows Xp , If You Don't Have That Experience , Then You Can Use The Supplied Recovery Cd To Restore Your System.
3- Windows Xp Media Center Cd's Are Not Supplied With Your Laptop, If You Want To Get The Cd's You Can Buy It From Many On-Line Shops And If You Do So You Will Get Valid Windows Xp Product Key Which You Will Not Need It (Because You Already Have One You Can Find It In A Small Sticker In The Back Of Your Laptop And You Can Activate Your Windows With It).
In Other Words ( You Need The First And The Second Cd Of Windows Xp Mce 2005 SP2 Oem).
4- Do Not Try To Apply These Steps On Other Versions Of Windows Xp , Use "Windows Xp Media Center Edition 2005 Sp2 Oem" Only
5- You Must Have Usb Floppy Drive To Install "Toshiba Raid Controller" , It Can Be Installed Only By Having The Driver On a Floppy Disk And By Pressing F6 During The Installation Of Windows Xp, If You Do Not Install The Raid Driver Then Windows Xp Will Not Recognize Your Hard Disk.
    6- Disclaimer of liability
I shall not be responsible or liable, directly or indirectly for any damage or loss caused or alleged to be caused by or in connection with the use of the this site or its content, including but not limited to delays, omissions, and inaccuracies in its content.
    Steps:
1- Create Drivers Cd From "Toshiba Assist Utility" ,You Should See The Toshiba Assist Icon On The Desktop, Then In The Toshiba Assist Choose The 'protect & Fix' Tab ,There You Will Find The Option `Create Drivers & Tools Cd` And Insert a Blank Cd To Write It
"If This Option Did Not Work Then You Have To Install The Restore Cd To Get It Work" , The Drivers Are Installed In A Folder Called Toolscd In "C:" Drive. To Install Your Recovery Cd Power On Your Laptop And Hold "F12" And Use The Arrow Keys To Choose Cd-Rom Icon To Boot From the Cd.
2- Create Toshiba Raid Driver From The Drivers Cd, The Toshiba Raid Driver Has To Be Added During The Installation of Windows XP When Asked To "Press F6 If You Need To Install A Third Party SCSI Or Raid Driver".
In Order To Do That , Insert The Drivers Cd "from Windows " It Will Run Automatically Or Run "Browser.Exe" Inside The Cd The Select "Raid Driver" And Click On "Installation" Button, It Will Show You The Raid Driver files , Insert A Blank Floppy And Copy The Files Into The Floppy "Be Sure That All The Files Be On The Root Of The Floppy" or download the Toshiba RAID driver from the Toshiba driver download web page and extract the zip file to a floppy disk."Again, All The Files Should Be On The Root Of The Floppy Not Inside A Folder"
3- Connect Your Usb Floppy Drive And Insert Your Windows Xp Mce 2005 Cd 1 And Power On Your Laptop Hold "F12" And Use The Arrow Keys To Choose Cd-Rom Icon To Boot From The Cd.
When You Get The Message To "Press Any Key To Boot From Cd...", Press Any Key , If You Do Not Press Any Key, It Will Not Boot From Cd-Rom,Press F6 When Asked To "Press F6 If You Need To Install A Third Party Scsi Or Raid Driver".
The Setup Continues Until You Are Asked Whether You Want To "S = Specify Additional Device". Press 's' And Specify The Toshiba Raid Driver For Xp. Then Press 'enter' To Continue With The Installation.
Do Not Upgrade Your Xp Installation ,Start New Windows Installation And Partition Your Hard Disk , Windows Installation Will Ask You To Insert Cd 2, And Will Copy Some Files And Will Ask You To Insert Cd 1 Again ,Continue The Setup Until Windows finish The Insallation.

FIX "ADD Support The High Speed SD Card"
Other Updates Are Not Necessary To Install, Because You Will Install It Later When You Run Microsoft Updates From Microsoft Updates Web-site After You Finish Activating Your Windows.
5- download and run "Intel(R) Chipset Software Installation Utility" from Intel website
(Restart Your PC After You Finish The Installation)
Do Not Install "Chipset Driver" From The Drivers Cd , It Is An Old Version , Try To Install The Latest From The Link Above.
6- Install The "Display Driver" From Drivers Cd (No Need To Restart).
Note : To Avoid Annoying Messages During Drivers Installation Try To Do The Following:-
Go To Control Panel , System Properties , Hardware , Drive Signing , Select "Ignore - Install The Software...."
Go To Control Panel , System Properties , Hardware , Windows Update , Select "Never Search Windows Update For Drivers"
7- Now You Have To Setup Your Internet Connection and Activate Your Windows So That You Can Run "Windows Updates" From Microsoft Windows Update Website
Your Internet Connection May Need One Of The Following Drivers (Depending On Your Modem)
A- If You Your Internet Connection Through LAN Then Install The "Network Driver" From Drivers Cd.
B- If You Your Internet Connection Through Wireless Then Install The "Wireless Network Driver" From Drivers Cd.
C- If Your Internet Connection Through USB Then Install The Driver Supplied By Your Modem Manufacturer.
D- If Your Internet Through Dial-Up Then Install The "Sound Driver" From Drivers CD , This Driver Will Install The Sound Driver And Will Activate The Modem Device and ,A Message Appeared "Find New Hardware ,Modem Device" Ignore The Message And Restart Your PC Then Install "Modem Driver" From Drivers Cd.
8- Now Go To Windows Update Web-Site And Install All The Necessary Updates "Try To Run Windows Updates Several Times Until You Install All The Updates Because In The First Time, Windows Updates Website Will Install 3 Files Only After That Restart Your Computer And Go To Windows Updates Site Again And Continue To Install The Updates , Select Custom Updates Method And Install All The Critical And Optional Updates".
9- install "Common Modules" from drivers CD This module is an essential component on Windows XP systems It is required to make other TOSHIBA original programs work properly.
10- Now Continue To Install Other Drivers And Utilities From Drivers Cd But Do Not Install The Following Drivers:-

  • IME Installation using Windows Update Agent (WUA) APIs

    Hi All,
We all know that IMEs are are not installed by default in Windows OS. We need to update/install them manually using Windows Update feature. I believe we can install the required IMEs programmatically. I have referred the MSDN (https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa387101(v=vs.85).aspx)

  • Windows update error 800f0246 when installing printer driver

I have Win 7 pro 64 bit and an HP3520 printer.  HP site says a Windows 7 driver is available via windows update.  When I go into Windows update, the drivers shows up under optional downloads.  When I try to download and install it it fails with error code 800f0246.  All other updates install fine.  I tried multiple times with the same error.
When I go into device manager the printer is listed under other devices with an icon indicating a driver issue.  When I try to update the driver it finds the downloaded driver that Windows update downloaded.  I select it and it fails.
I have Windows 7 beta still on my laptop and the printer driver installs from windows update just fine.
    Any ideas?

No go.  Uninstalled, rebooted, tried to reinstall again, still failed.  Fails when the printer is disconnected as well.  The HP site does not have a driver for manual install.  Any links for a driver lead to here: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01874792&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&lang=en&product=305968    Those steps do not work because the driver in windows update fails to install.

  • Windows update fails, errorcode "WindowsUpdate_80246002" "WindowsUpdate_dt000"

    Hi.
    Mikael Nilsen here.
When I try to use Windows update, I get the errorcode "WindowsUpdate_80246002" "WindowsUpdate_dt000"
I have not installed any new programs, only updated Adobe Air.
I tried to uninstall Adobe Air to check if it was the problem, but got the same errorcode, so why this came up I don`t understand.
I hope you can help me with this, as soon as possible.
    Best regards
    Mikael Nilsen

Earlier today, I had the same problem with Win 7 home 64bit. It started this morning, the last update
in windows update history was KB2993651 installed yesterday 8-27-2014.
9 hours ago,  tried these fixes:
Ran the win 7 Microsoft Fixit Windows update repair tool.
Downloaded Fix It Tool 50202 that completely re installs Windows Update components
Renamed the SoftwareDistribution directory and restarted the wuauserv  service .
Did the repair to .NET framework in the programs section of Control panel.
Uninstalled yesterday's KB2993651 update via the Windows update history section.
Ran SFC /scannow from an elevated cmd prompt, which found no file errors.
None of the fixes made any difference, I still had the same problem, Windows update gave the same error code - WindowsUpdate_80246002 WindowsUpdate_dt000.
I did reset the automatic windows update time to 2pm and Windows update did re-install the kb2993651 update that I just uninstalled 30 minutes earlier, however I could not manually check for Windows updates.
    UPDATE 9hours later..... Windows
Update is working!!!    I have not done anything to the computer since I posted the above information, 9 hours ago
when Windows update was NOT working. Windows 7 has been running since that last post with no reboots. I just checked for updates with Windows update and now it is working. I found 10 optional updates including .NET Framework 4.5.1 for Windows 7 x64. I mention
that update since I did run the REPAIR .NET 4.5 framework (step 4 above) which completed earlier today, and now it found an update for it.
At any rate, Windows update is now working. I have no idea what fixed Windows update since it did not work as I applied each fix earlier today. If I had the problem again, I would follow the 6 steps above, wait for several hours and cross my fingers that the
    problem will be fixed.

  • Windows update & store download error on proxy

i cannot update windows and it so some error. and i use the proxy server so i cannot to down load the apps . please help me to resolve it , please remember i know very few basics about computer

    Hello muralitharan665,
Do you mean that you use the proxy in Internet Explorer and can’t download windows updates and store apps as normal?
Is this computer domain-joined or personal?
If the computer is domain-joined, we need to contact the IT department administrator and check if the attempt to manually install the Windows updates and store apps meet the policy.
Do you receive any error message when you use the Windows updates and try to download Windows store apps?
Please take the following steps for troubleshooting:
    1. Check if we can normally visit the webpage without proxy
    2. Go to Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Troubleshooting\All Categories, run Windows updates troubleshooter and share us the error message.

  • SCCM Windows Updates - Client stuck on Downloading but never finishes

I am running SCCM 2007 with 200 clients.  I have been sucessfully performing windows updates through SCCM without an issue for about 6 months.  Recently I approved updates released in March and most of the updates installed ok, but there are two, KB938464 and KB958690, which sit on status Downloading for hours until the desktop is switched off at night.  The times reach 14 hours on some machines.
I have tried to cancel the updates by removing them from the Advertisements and from the Deployment packages but they still try to run everyday on 167 of 200 desktops.  If I manually go to Windows Update and install the updates the issue goes away, however, you can imagine my unwillingness to do this across 167 stations if I can avoid it.
How can I do one or both of the following:
    A) Cancel the updates so they no longer want to run on the clients
    B) Fix the issue so the updates download properly.
The process that I use to approve and deploy updates:
Under Site Database -> Computer Management -> Software Updates
I select the updates I want to deploy and add them to a new update list.  I place a check into the box to download the files associated to the updates.
Once the update list is built I select to deploy the updates, give it a name that represents the update period
I select a template that deploys but suppresses restart in the updates.
I select a deployment package, the same one I used for all my past updates
    Download from the Internet
    English
    Schedule
    Finish.
This has worked sucessfully for months.
Thank you for any help that can be offered.

  • Windows update stopped running - no error code

For some reason - presumably a virus, windows update stopped running. When I click windows update in control panel, screen freezes. Only way out is Ctrl+Alt+Del, access Task Manager - it reads Windows Update: Running, and kill the app. Help appreciated!

I have a problem, I got a message from the Lenovo solution center that "i never updated my windows" although I updated them and now I have windows 10. In order to fix this, they ask me to launch windows update but the thing is that I cannot launch it. I click on " launch" and nothing happens. I tried manually to find windows update and check for updates but there are no available updates any ideas?

  • Windows 2008 R2 servers won't update manually or via WSUS - error code 80073712

We have a number of Windows Server 2008 R2 servers which have been refusing majority of windows updates for a while now.
Tried DSIM utility and SURT - both produce  errors in checksur.log, although different:
DSIM- 4 * problems with IE hyphenation and Spelling in package manifests and catalogue
SURT - 2 * CSI Missing Winning Component Key
Any ideas as to what we can do next ?
All these servers are business critical, so we are not in a position to 'play' too much with any of them and don't particularly want to rebuild them(e.g. exchange, sharepoint)
(note, in case it is relevant, all these servers were physical but converted to virtual march this year and updates worked for a few months after that)

    Hi,
Have you tried to use sfc /scannow first?
After that, please run DSIM and SURT again.
If it doesn't work, due to the servers are business critical, it is recommanded that you contact Microsoft Customer Service and Support (CSS) via telephone so that a dedicated Support Professional can assist with your request. Thanks for your understanding.
To obtain the phone numbers for specific technology request please take a look at the web site listed below:

  • Installation Failure: Windows failed to install the following update with error 0x800F0922

    Hi folks,
I have a HP Elitebook Folio 9470p.  It came with Windows 8, and I installed it on my corporate domain.  I was trying to do some Windows updates so  I could upgrade it to Windows 8.1, but it fails installing the updates, whether or not I try
to install them one at a time or all of them.  It has about 18 updates it needs from security updates to a .net framework update.  I run Symantec EP, and disabled it, checked for driver updates for things like display and networking and they are
    all up to date.
I'm at a loss as to what to do.  It gives this error in the event log for each file, Event ID 20.
Installation Failure: Windows failed to install the following update with error 0x800F0922: Security Update for Windows 8 for x64-based Systems (KB2862152).
This is the example for KB2862152, but it gives the same error for every one.  I've tried to auto fix for Windows update issues and it fixed a couple of the issues, but not all of them, and provides no other help.
I also deleted folders and files from the SoftwareDistribution folder as well, to no avail.  Any ideas what I can do to get whatever updates it needs, so I can fully patch it, and upgrade it to Win 8.1?
    Thanks for any help!

Hi MM. Mr Kywildcat and Vegan Fan,
GOOD NEW ! At this time, my issue is solved. The only black side is "how ?" : I hope that we will get a response some day ; however, and for in information  pnly - hoping this could help someone - I resume some actions which allowed this the happy end
    1) about installing 8.1 : I wanted to be sure that gain/pain ratio was positive, and that upgrading from a (potentially) damaged system would'nt produce something looking like a new Win 8.1, but difficult to maintain and keeping some negative potentialities.
    2) I was influenced by the fact that this
0x800F0922  error acted as "a serial killerror", whose root cause could be a unique update error at reboot time concerning several (>20) packages, so I decided to test some manual upgrades.
    3)   Manual update (i.e. manual download and maunching of .msu packages) of the 2 following packages
(whose update previously failed on a Windows Update) was successful : .NET Framework version 3.5 for  x64 (KB2898866) and Camera Codec Pack Windows 8 for x64 (KB2899190)
    4) So I decided to try Windows Update on a selection of packages, first : those concerning .Net Framework 3.5 and 4.5 (that is: KB2898866, 2901120, 2898865) --> Successful !
    5) finally, I selected almost all other packages, with some exceptions wich I (think to) have no need for : KB2871690, 2904659, 2843630. To be complete, here is the list of pakages updated one time at all :
    KB 2892074, 2893294, 2893984, 2909210, 2912390, 2916036, 2889784,2903938, 2911101, 2913152, 2917499
    --> always succesful.
I am not a specialist, but I uess that this 0x800F0922 error hides another problem which is globally "H-RESULTED"
to all updates pending in one update operation with reboot. This could be assumed from this CBS.log exterped from my last wrong attempts, where root cause seems not to be
    0x800f0922, but 0x80004003 :
2014-02-15 21:29:13, Info                  CBS    Could not get active session for current session file logging [HRESULT = 0x80004003 - E_POINTER]
2014-02-15 21:29:13, Info                  CBS    Not able to add pending.xml.bad to Windows Error Report. [HRESULT = 0x80070002 - ERROR_FILE_NOT_FOUND]
2014-02-15 21:29:18, Error  CBS    Startup: Failed to process advanced operation queue, startupPhase: 0.  A rollback transaction will be created. [HRESULT = 0x800f0922 - CBS_E_INSTALLERS_FAILED]
Anyway, thanks to you who spent some of your time to describe issues and search/ suggest solutions ; I will upgrade my system to 8.1 anyway, some of this day, when I am sure that my configuration does not hides some other problem. I thing that potential
issue remains until maybe a new KB corrects it, wrong :-) ?
And I hope that you - Mr Kywildcat - can upgrade your system on "current levels" trying similar attempts.

  • Unable to install security updates via WSUS on Windows 2008 client servers

When I try install to install updates on Windows 2008 client servers I get the error : Code 80244019  Windows Update encountered an unknown error
After running the WSUS Client Diagnostic Tool I get the result : GetFileVersion(szEngineDir,&susVersion) failed with hr=0x80070002 The system cannot find the file specified.
On a Windows 2003 server the WSUS Client Diagnostic Tool shows no error message. So I guess the problem seems to be specificly related to Windows 2008 servers.
The client server has been integrated into a WSUS console version 3.2.7600.226 runnning on a Windows 2003 Enterprise Edition SP2.
Thanks in advance for the help in resolving this issue.

When I try install to install updates on Windows 2008 client servers I get the error : Code 80244019  Windows Update encountered an unknown error
The 0x80244019 error is an HTTP 404 error and when encountered trying to "install updates", which really occurs when trying to
download the update files so that the updates can be installed, is almost always a function of the desired file having been manually deleted from the WSUS server. The file that should be there for the needed update, isn't, but it used to be.
If all of the clients are getting this error on all updates, then that's a function of the content store on the WSUS server being missing, in the wrong place, or configured with the wrong ACLs.
After running the WSUS Client Diagnostic Tool I get the result : GetFileVersion(szEngineDir,&susVersion) failed with hr=0x80070002
This result is inconclusive, and not really relevant. The CDT is 32-bit only and can't be used on 64-bit systems. Plus, we already know the client is talking to the WSUS server -- you've reported the error code -- so the Client Diagnostic Tool will
tell us nothing of use at this point (even if it did work on 64-bit systems).
On a Windows 2003 server the WSUS Client Diagnostic Tool shows no error message.
Cool. It works on a 32-bit system.
So I guess the problem seems to be specificly related to Windows 2008 servers.
No... BUT... allow me to make an example of this for just a moment, and forgive me for that.
This is a great example of arriving at the wrong conclusion, caused by not considering ALL of the differences, as well as the scope and capability of the diagnostics performed. The error is not because one is '2003' and the other '2008; the error is because
one is 'x86' and the other is (obviously) 'x64'. And, in either case, diagnosing the client was wasted effort because the client is already working. (It got a real HTTP error message from the WSUS server.)
Now, we need to get some real diagnostic information to find out why you're getting this error code. :-)
Please post the actual entries from the WindowsUpdate.log where this error code appears, plus a hundred lines prior, and let's get some context around the error code, and the exact update that's involved in this issue.

    Hello,
I'm having issues upgrading my Windows 10 Technical Preview installation build 9879 to a newer build that's become available late January 23rd.
I am installing the new upgrade in a Hyper-V virtual machine and get the following error:
Failed to install the new preview build, please try again later. 0x80246007
    What could be the problem?
Previously I've had messages that Windows cannot be upgraded on a computer with less than 2 Gbyte of RAM. That's a Hyper-V VM with dynamic memory and I was highly surprised to see this error; never had this before. Had to set 2048 Mbytes as a minimum memory
for this VM. Now that I have this 80246007 error code.
When looking up System log, the following error messages are listed multiple times:
Installation Failure: Windows failed to install the following update with error 0x80246007: FBL_AWESOME1501 9926 Professional.
The errors are returned for the Event ID 20 by WindowsUpdateClient
in task category Windows Update Agent..
    I reviewed the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsSelfHost\Applicability
registry key as suggested in Windows
Insider stuck on build 9841 - "No new preview build was found", and here is what it shows:
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsSelfHost\Applicability]
    "BranchName"="fbl_awesome1501"
    "ThresholdRiskLevel"="low"
    "ThresholdOptedin"=dword:00000001
Note, when attempting to install the downloaded update from a native boot, installation starts with no errors.
However, since setup is not supported for a natively booted VHD files, it does not proceed further showing a message that installation on virtual drives is not supported.
Looks like Setup is having problems installing in a Hyper-V virtual machine.
Possibly, some ESD files got corrupted during downloading? Is it possible to remove them and re-download missing files? (I, however, noticed that Windows seems to re-download upgrade files after you restart 9879 and attempt to check for a new build.
Any clue why installing under VM causes 9926 to fail?
    Thank you in advance.
Well this is the world we live in And these are the hands we're given...

    Hi,
According to the error message, this problem seems like update package installation failed during system upgrade.
You can try to remove ESD file which locate at boot of C drive and upgrade the system again for test.
On the other hand, make sure the system 9879 installed all Windows pushed updates before system upgrade.

  • How to make Windows Update work properly after a fresh XP Home Installation

    1. Set up Boot Camp 60 gig partition.
    2. Install full copy of Windows XP SP2 on the Boot Camp partition.
    3. Using the OSX Disk, Install the Boot Camp 2.0 Drivers for Windows.
    4. Download the Boot Camp 2.1 Update from apple.com and install it.
    5. In Windows, run the Apple Software Update.
    6. In your Windows systray, you probably have notice of "automatic software updates". Install them from the systray notification and they will install correctly.
    7. Now manually visit Windows Update. You can view all available updates but if you try to actually install any updates this way you will hang immediately at the "Downloading" status. No actual download even starts.
This problem will persist across reboots, etc. It will occur if you try to upgrade from Windows Update to Microsoft Update, and even if you then uninstall Microsoft Update and go back to Windows Update.
The only action that corrects this problem is to perform the following steps:
    1. In Windows, choose Start > Run and enter "msconfig".
    2. In the MS Configuration utility, choose to restart Windows in diagnostic mode. (You must perform the following step in diagnostic mode or some of the files you need to delete will be locked by some running service or whatnot.)
    3. After Windows comes up in diagnostic mode, open the C:\Windows\Software Distribution. Delete everything inside that folder (but not the folder itself).
    4. Run msconfig again and select to restart Windows in normal mode again.
    5. When Windows comes up in normal mode, it recreates the entire default contents that you just deleted in the previous step, and Windows Update will now work properly.

I kept running into this same problem with Windows Update every single time I restarted into Boot Camp from the OSX side of things. (System Preferences > Startup Disk > select Untitled > Restart.)
I could clear the problem every time by rebooting (while in Boot Camp) into Diagnostic mode, clearing the contents of the C:\Windows\Software Distribution folder, and then restarting back into Normal mode.
On a hunch, one time I did not bother with the above steps, but just restarted Windows (Start > Shutdown > Restart). Whaddya know? That worked to clear the problem with Windows Update too!
So at this point I think the root cause of the problem is something about Boot Camp itself, particularly when you first switch from OSX over to your Boot Camp partition. It is 100% repeatable that Windows Update will run and find your various uninstalled updates, but if you try to actually download any of them, the process will hang right at the start of "Downloading".
Simply shutting down and restarting Windows while already in Boot Camp solves this problem completely.
It's also interesting to note that if you use VMWare Fusion to run a VM of your Boot Camp partition you do not have this problem at all. Windows Update will run perfectly each and every time you run your Boot Camp version of Windows under VMWare Fusion. You only need to do this restarting of Windows if you are actually in Boot Camp.

  • Installation of Windows 8.1 Update 1 on Existing Windows 8.1 Fails

I am running Windows 8.1 Pro with all current updated, including those pushed for Microsoft Tuesday.  I have attempted multiple times installing the ~ 840MB update for 8.1 Update 1. The install downloads, installs, restarts.  Upon restart - message
comes up indicating working on files and then says unable to complete, rolling back.  Looking in Windows Update History - it shows the package as successful but performing check for updates again shows that the update is available.
Worked with Microsoft AnswerDesk advisor for ~ 3 hours this morning with no successs.  Looking to see if anyone has had any similar issue / how it was resolved.
Removed McAfee to rule out conflict
    "reset" the SoftwareDistribution folder
    Ran WindowsUpdate validation utility
No error codes are displayed upon the rollback.  Any other suggestions appreciated.  Microsoft support was escalating to a Level 2 Windows tech but unavailable for contact until tomorrow evening...hoping to fix this before that time.

    Hi,
About this problem, we can check WindowsUpdate.log and
CBS log, these two log would record Windows update check and install process. You can also provide these two log file to us, we can help you analysis this problem together.
