    HI all,
Can anyone tell me where I can download the manual for the mainboard that is used by the MSI MEGA 865 (MS-6797)
    Thanx,
    Raymond

there is a section about the MB in the mega 865 manual, get it here:
    http://www.msi.com.tw/program/support/manual/mnu/spt_mnu_detail.php?UID=547&kind=4
Seems hard to find a seperate manual for the motherboard itself, however, I don't know it there are any at all. But there are similar boards at the manual page in the website, might not help though.

  • Mainboard MS 6701

I gonna have the MS-6701 Baord installed in my computer.
It is a OEM Board. It gonna have the SIS 648 chipset.
I nowhere find a BIOS update for this board.
Often this board was selled in a MEDION Pc in Germany.
But this is not a MEDION Pc.
Can anybody show me a source, where to find an update for my board ?

    MS-6701
    Well, well, hmmm,   :]
What a search it makes me  ...  ;(
I guess i have found something on the Medion site
    though its German...
This update should be an upgrade of a Medion Pc called 8008 with an MD 5000 Motherboard. This indication for their Motherboard is the MS-6701 from MSI!!   :D
In the download is an instruction readme8k.txt in German and in english included.
This BIOS version should be a Phoenix-Award BIOS v6.00g
with the MEDION OEM v.2.12 date 04.03.2003 the former one was v2.09 date 01.22.2003
    Check it out !

Check the manual, but if you use the microphone plug-in in the back on the motherboard, you might disable microphone input
to the front case header panel.  I believe if you use the microphone in the back, it disables microphone input from the front.  Also be sure to check the multimedia/sound settings near the clock to make sure you don't have anything muted in advanced tabs found.

  • Mainboard : MSI MS-6701 (Medion OEM)

Hello, I'am French girl and It's difficult to write a good English message.
    Anyway, I'm going to try.
I have a old PC, but it's do work correctly.
My problem is to know if I have to change my mainboard or a part of them or just a driver.
This mainboard with Intel   NetBurst and audio card integrated. That one is defective (bad sound)
    Identifiant :    02/22/2003-SiS-648-6A7I0M4MC-00
I didn't find a driver to expective repair on the MSI ' site : Is that somewere ?
Do you think I can change the sound card without mainboard ?
I hope to find a solution.
Thanks to your councils and if you can tell me where I must to go to find help.

As your board is oem it is not supported in this forum. Best to contact Medion.
If you have no luck with a driver or the sound is not working the easiest thing to do is get a PCI sound card. They are not expensive. You just have to uninstall the onboard sound and disable onboard sound in the BIOS setup before plugging in the new sound card in a free PCI slot.

  • USB problems in 6701 mainboard

Hello, I have a  msi ms 6701 motherboard and i have a problem in the USB ports, testing pc with pc-doctor utility  in the usb text it gives a series of mistakes, for example:
HC current control ED register invalid, or HC bulk current ED register invalid
is possible that the motherboard is damaged?

Please clear cmos and load defaults in the bios. Then check whether the USB controller has been enabled in the bios. After you enter OS, then please check whether in the device manager, there is "!" or "?" on the USB controlller, if there is, then please uninstall the USB drivers and reinstall. Thirdly, please check whether your USB device itself needs drivers.

  • Msi-6701

    My computer tech:
    2,4 Intel Celeron (S478??)
    768 mb ram DDR-SDRAM (333 mhz)
Geforce mx440 SE (128 mb ram)
    MS-6701 Motherboard
    Input max: AC 230-240V~3A 50Hz
    It's a medion computer ... and i am wondering if i could get myself a new 3,0 ghz Pentium 4 (533)
Below is the processor i am planning on buying if it will work on my computer.
    http://propc.e-butik.se/show_product.asp?artnr=dclp2&ref=%2Fshow%5Fcategory%2Easp%3Fcategory%3D35%26subcategory%3D31
    All help is really appreciated

It´s an oem board ( medion computers) and not listed amongs the other MSI mainboard models.
    There is no 3.0ghz / 533mhz cpu - only 3,06Ghz / 533mhz cpu.
You cannot use any 800mhz Northwood or Prescott cpu or 533mhz CeleronD cpu´s
    http://processorfinder.intel.com/scripts/list.asp?ProcFam=483&NoNav=NO&CorSpd=ALL&SysBusSpd=5419&MfgTech=ALL&step=ALL&cache=ALL&PkgType=ALL&btnFOS=Filter+on+selections
Use only 2,8Ghz or 3,06 / 533mhz / 512cache Northwood CPU for 478 socket,  if you want something better then you have today.
This is max speed for your motherboard.
I would recommend a 2,8Ghz/533 Northwood cpu ( which is supported according to the manual for Medion md-5000 xxxx-series with MSI 6701 MB)
and it´s some cheaper then the 3,06Ghz with HT.
The hard thing is to find them - Good old 533mhz Northwood cpu´s are beginning to be rare ( look for used one´s as well ?)
Celeron 2,8Ghz /400mhz may still be found, but then you don´t get no big differans peformance boost from what you´ve got.
If you want to confirm, check their website http://www1.medion.com/se/

  • BIOS update killed my MS-6728 Neo-2-S mainboard, please help..

    1. I successfully booted my system and installed dual boot to Win2k Server and WinXP Pro.
    2. In XP Pro, I installed basic drivers and updated the rest through Live Update 3.
    3. After installing MSI software I began experiencing lockups whenever I would try to restart (start, shutdown, restart) in XP Pro.
    4. I decide to update the BIOS. Original version was AMI 1.1.
    5. I update through live update 3 and it creates backup file AMIBIOS.ROM on a floppy diskette, no sweat I should be able to restore right?
    6. I download the 1.5x Beta BIOS and the newer update utility ADSFI708.EXE and place them on same floppy diskette as AMIBIOS.ROM (the backup BIOS).
    7. I restart computer and boot from Win98 SE boot disk.
    8. I insert the floppy with the 1.5x BIOS update and I execute the BIOS update. The update proceeds without incident. I wait an extra 30 seconds after its finished before restarting.
    9. I restart and the system BIOS screen comes up and claims there's a misconfiguration in BIOS. I hit F1 to go into setup and it has reset all the options I normally set (boot order, wether numlock is ON or OFF, etc). I set these very simple options and ONLY these options the way I like them. I have NOT tweaked voltage, timings, or anything of the nature. All settings except for simple ones like numlock on/off are set to autodetect or base settings.
    10. I exit out of BIOS and get a black screen.
    11. I restart the computer and get a black screen again. The fans on the mobo and the colored LEDs are on, but the system isn't booting.
    12. I figure no problem I've read about this and I have the AMIBIOS.ROM backup floppy handy with the 1.1 BIOS that Live Update 3 backed up for me.
    13. I shut off the computer and remove the memory. I short the CMOS clearing jumper. I turn on the computer. BIOS/CMOS should be cleared now yes?
    14. I put just 1 stick of GEIL 512mb PC3700 RAM back in and insert the recovery disk.
    15. I start computer and spam CTRL+HOME keys. Floppy drive starts to read. After a while it beeps 4 times.
16 I remove BIOS recovery disk, put both sticks of RAM in, and restart computer.
    17. Black screen still.
    18. I repeat steps 13-17 several (8+) times. I go so far as to a) Remove video card b) try different slots for RAM and c) remove the CMOS battery, all in an effort to clear whatever the problem is.
It's still not working. The PS powers up. The fans spin. The dancing colored LEDs on the mainboard fan go off. But no BIOS screen. No POST. No beeps.
Can anyone point out anything I missed or is my board dead and I need to RMA it?
    System specifications:
    Mainboard: MSI NEO-2-S (MSI 6728)
    VGA: MSI Geforce 4 TI-4200 64mb
RAM: GeiL 2x512 PC-3700 matched pair
    Power Supply: 300 W
    CPU: P4-2.4C
    No overclocking/overtiming/overvolting - stock settings
    Thanks in advance.
    Chris

Ok, maybe someone can answer this question on clearing the CMOS.
The wording in the manual was ambiguous. It sounded to me like they didn't want you to move the jumper from open to short or vice versa while the system was powered up. One should never unplug stuff while the system is powered up..
On the other hand, they may have meant to NEVER power the system up with the jumper shorted. Which was what I did.
Is it safe to use this procedure?
    1. Power down system.
    2. Remove Ram, Video card, CMOS battery
    3. Short jumper
    4. Turn system on, wait 30 sec
    5. Shut system off, unshort jumper and put ram, vga, and cmos battery back in.
Or is this what they meant:
    1. Power down system.
    2. Remove Ram, Video, CMOS battery.
    3. Short jumper, wait x seconds
    4. Unshort jumper, put back in Ram, Video, battery
    5. Turn system on
    I used the first procedure.
I'm worried the mobo may be fried now.

  • No video on mainboard replacement

I have replaced the mainboard, CPU, and ram on my 5 year old Dell, moving from an Intel Celeron system to the following:
    Board: 880GMA-E45
    CPU: Athlon II X2 2.9gHz Socket AM3
    RAM: Patriot PGS34G1333ELKA DDR3 PC3-10666 2x2GB kit
The only card installed on the board is an elderly Adaptec 2940U PCI SCSI card. I'm reusing my HD with Windows XP plus have an IDE cable plugged in for CD and DVDRW drives. I'm using on-board video connected to a Samsung 730B monitor that has both DVI and VGA connectors. The computer system worked fine before the transplant operation.
On boot I get power on, fans spinning, no beeps, and no video. The monitor cycles between analog and digital looking for a signal and then gives up. I have tried with both the VGA cable and the DVI cable with the same result. I have cleared the CMOS both by removing the battery for a few minutes and by moving the JBAT1 jumper as outlined in the manual. The RAM is installed in the DIMM1 and DIMM2 slots, and I have reseated them as well as tried booting with each one installed by itself in DIMM1. I have reseated the CPU.
The PSU is the original Dell 250W. Could this be the problem?
    Anything else to try?
    Tom

Quote from: Mark on 29-August-10, 05:25:06
Try booting without the Adaptec 2940U PCI SCSI card inserted.
Might also be a good idea to reseat the processor and check for any bent pins at the same time. At this stage I'd recommend placing the motherboard outside of the case on a sheet of card and running it barebones.

    Hello!
There is one simple method also..
Instead of Installation disk of Solaris, insert the Software 1/2 Disk, and try to follow the actuall Suninstall method of installing Solaris. Here you will get the option that how to utilize the free space.
I myself have installed more 5 OS on a single Hard disk :) this way. Try this method

Do you know if the A75MA-G55 mainboard supports RAID5?. If it doesn't, do you know if MSI is planning on adding that feature in the near future?. Thank you very much!.

According to the manual only RAID 0, 1 & 10. We don't have any idea what MSI does or doesn't have plans for, we don't work for MSI we are users same as you.
