Manual/On-demand run of GATHER_STATS_JOB

Hi All,
Oracle 10.2.0.3.0 - 64bit, EE on HPUX.
We have the GATHER_STATS_JOB in place. Some defaults (such as METHOD_OPT) were tweaked for this job. Everything works fine when the job runs overnight.
Now we are planning to do a major data load during the day. After this load, we would like to gather stats using the GATHER_STATS_JOB before its scheduled run. This is a one time requirement. So, is it possible to invoke this job manually/on-demand without messing with the schedule.

Oracle automatically schedules the GATHER_STATS_JOB job to run when the maintenance window opens.
The GATHER_STATS_JOB job calls the procedure DBMS_STATS.GATHER_DATABASE_STATS_JOB_PROC to gather the optimizer statistics.
Hope you can run the above proc manually

The only way I know to do it is to stop the application through task manager(Windows) or Kill(Unix). First you have to figure out what PID it is, then kill it. It does come with risk of corrupting the application depending on what step it is in. If you go this route, you should clean up the new created temporary files (Otn, Esn, etc) Some newer versions don't need this last step and will clean up when the application restarts, but I'd rather make sure things look good myself.

Restart of SOA Suite server = Manually restart all running BPEL processes?

Is it true that in SOA Suite 10.1.3 you have to manually restart all running BPEL process if you restart the SOA Suite? And that this was working in 10.1.2?
If it is true, how do people handle that? We might have thousands of processes waiting in Waiting state on the server so this sounds like a nightmare. :-)

Yes, I was a bit surprised too, that is why I am asking. :-) I was a colleague that told me that it was not working in 10.1.3. But I should just go and check it out.

Code to perform a manual GC for running JVM

Hi,
Can anyone share the code to connect to a running JVM and perform a manual garbage collection when the heap size goes beyond say 1.2GB or so.

How do I send instance for manual recovery at run time.

I have a BPEL process within which I am trying to handle a business error. I understand using the default-policies on the application server I can send a message for manual recovery. But is it possible to force an instance into the manual recovery queue in the event of a handled error?
I have previosuly used the default policies to route remote/binding faults to the activities tab (manual recovery) tab and the users find this useful to adjust XM land retry, re-throw etc. But can we do the same for errors handled within the BPEL. So if I have a catch all within my process how would I send the instance to this manual recovery queue.

Production version selection in MRP run

Hi all
here my requirment is to select the Alternative BOM in MRP run.
i have three alternative BOMs. and two routings. to make different combinations i was created Production version. so now my requirment was while run MRP how to choose production version manually. i was mantained MRP 4 screen for selection method as 3.
my All BOM validity dates r same and same lot size.
can any one suggest me how to choose production version manually in MRP run. otherwise system by default it choosing 1st alternative.

In Customization - BOM selection ID, Selection priority and BOM usage, Alternative selection of BOM in MRP.
i was tried to mantain this. still system picks the default as first production version.
can u try for this. how we can configure in SAP.

i have one material as M-20. it has differnt grads of mixing as R1,R2,R3 alternative BOMs. all alternatives have same materials with differnt Compositions. i want to choose one alternative while run MRP. But system by default picking first alternative BOM.

Why do manually added mp3s in the Podcasts app all show up in the same folder?

Let me explain!
I like to download lectures and talks and audio books from other sources than iTunes.
I like to add these mp3 files to iTunes, change the Media type of them from Music to Podcast, and transfer them to my iPod Touch. This is so I will more easily know which ones have been listened to and can be removed.
This worked (and works) well in the Music app. Everything was separated into folders based on what album name I had manually assigned to the ID3 tags of the files.
But in the Podcast app, all of these files are now lumped into one folder.
I currently have eight un-listened-to episodes of Philip K. Dick's Valis on my iPod Touch. But the folder shows a count of 106 unheard episodes in relation to this audio book, because it lumps all of my other manually added podcast media tracks into the same folder.
Why is this?
Why does the Podcasts app refuse to let me separate manually added files into individual folders based on album information?
Had the My Stations feature let me populate its playlists in a more rational manner, and also allowed me to manually change the running order of the tracks (something which only seems to be possible in the On-The-Go playlist), I would not think that this omission was such an annoyance.
I have been searching for months for mentions of this problem, but I have not seen a single one, and so I have finally decided to make my own thread.
Let me know if the nature of my problem remains unclear.

That doesn't do anything.
When I plug my phone in and attempt to sync it with iTunes and click on "Steven's iPhone" under "Devices" the display to the right just says "loading..." and it stays like that for hours. Nothing happens.
As far as I can tell, there is literally no way for me to delete the photos from my iPhone and I therefore, cannot upgrade to the newest software, download new apps, etc.

How do you remove iTunes and other Apple products from my PC, manually?

I just bought a $250 5th-gen iPod. But I can't install iTunes.
A while back, I think I just deleted the program folder or something, or maybe the the uninstaller just somehow broke on its own. In any case, the program folder is gone and the uninstaller doesn't work.
Running the iTunes installer gives me the following error:
The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable.
Click OK to try again, or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package 'iTunes.msi' in the box below.
I did a search and found the iTunes.msi file in a temp folder. I selected it in the installer to try to solve the problem, but I received another error message:
The file "C:\Documents and Settings\HP_Owner\Local Settings\Temp\IXP460.TMP\iTunes.msi" is not a valid installation package for the product iTunes. Try to find the installation package 'iTunes.msi' in a folder from which you can install iTunes.
So, I uninstalled QuickTime and tried to manually remove every iTunes files and iTunes-related registry entry. No good.
When I run the iTunes installer now, it hangs\freezes when it gets to "Registering modules."
The only solution to the problem is a full manual uninstall.
I called Apple tech support and explained the problem, and they said that registry issues were a third-party problem, emailing me a tech support page I'd already read and suggesting I call Microsoft -- but oh, she said, make sure you don't tell them it's a problem with iTunes registry entries "or they'll refer you back to us."
Yes, because what the iTunes installer does to my PC is not a third-party issue.
I don't blame the tech support people, though, and I hope my post here doesn't lead to any of them being reprimanded.
Anyway, my request is simple: Someone, anyone, give me a list of every file and registry entry that Apple software adds to my computer, so I can remove it manually.

hmmmmm. by any chance do you have SpyCatcher (or the version of GhostSurf platinum that contains SpyCatcher) on that PC?
if so, try uninstalling SpyCatcher altogether prior to the itunes install. if it goes through properly this time, launch itunes at least once prior to reinstalling SpyCatcher.

DBMS_SCHEDULER.RUN_JOB causes scheduled job not to run again

Environment: 10.2.0.2 Linux 64-bit

I have some DBMS_SCHEDULER chain jobs scheduled to run every hour which has been running fine with no issues for a while now.
I needed to run a couple of jobs manually in-between scheduled times so I ran the job using DBMS_SCHEDULER.RUN_JOB, and that worked as expected as it has done in the past.
This issue is that the jobs I ran manually haven't run at their scheduled time since I did that. The only way around it was to recreate the job completely.
Any idea if this is normal functionality, or should I be raising this as a possible issue through Oracle Metalink?
Any help or ideas would be much appreciated.

Hi Tim,
This is a known bug which is tracked internally by bug #5705385. It will be fixed in the next patchsets for 10.2 and 11.1 (i.e. 10.2.0.5 and 11.1.0.7) . If you urgently need a fix, an official patch seems to be available for 10.2.0.3 .
There does seem to be a workaround - using run_job again after the first run_job has completed will not do anything but the chain job should again run on schedule.

Unique Index Error while running the ETL process

I have Installed Oracle BI Applications 7.9.4 and Informatica PowerCenter 7.1.4. I have done all the configuration steps as specified in the Oracle BI Applications Installation and Configuration Guide. While running the ETL process from DAC for Execution Plan 'Human Resources Oracle 11.5.10' some tasks going to status Failed.
When I checked the log files for these tasks, I found the following error

I found some duplicate rows in the table W_PAYROLL_F_ASSG_TMP with the combination of the columns on which it is trying to create INDEX. Can anyone give me information for the following.
1. Why it is trying to create the unique index on the combination of columns which may not be unique.
2. Is it a problem with the data in the source database (means becoz of duplicate rows in the source system).
How we need to fix this error. Do we need to delete the duplicate rows from the table in the data warehouse manually and re-run the ETL process or is there any other way to fix the problem.

This query will identify the duplicate in the Warehouse table preventing the Index from being built:
select count(*), integration_id, src_eff_from_dt from w_employee_ds group by integration_id, src_eff_from_dt having count(*)>1;
To get the ETL to finish issue this delete to the W_EMPLOYEE_DS table:
delete from w_employee_ds where integration_id = '2' and src_eff_from_dt ='04-JAN-91';
To fix it so this does not happen again on another load you need to find the record in the Vision DB, it is in the PER_ALL_PEOPLE_F table. I have a Vision source and this worked:

Job Will Not run due to credentials

I am attempting to set up a job to run a MSDB package stored on my server. The job is failing and giving me the error below in the history log. I have several other jobs that run MSDB packages with the same credentials and they run fine. Why would this be
failing. I have tried using a local account, but that fails as well. I am using windows authentication and the SDC\Administrator is the main admin account on our domain.
the job failed. It was invoked by SDC\Administrator. The last step to run was step 1.
**Update** My job is executing with an account called Tailwind\Systems. Tailwind is the server name and consequently a user name in our sql server 2012 instance. I cannot figure out how to make it execute as another account**

OK so start to finish.
I have a file saved in a directory on the same server sql server 2012 is running on.
Next I create a db and import that file in and allow the table to get created.
Next I import again this time electing to delete existing rows and using the package do not use encryption. I accept all defaults and save in sql server
Now that the package has been saved I create a new job and create a step that calls this package to run it. I leave all defaults including the owner which is the Windows admin account.
I run the job and get the error. I run the package manually and it runs. The funny thing is, this is the way I have always done it and never had this issue. I have other jobs that still successfully run packages but are in other db's. I test by creating
a new import package and job to run but from within the already existing db and it works. So it seems to be a permission somewhere that I have yet to find.

Change Data Source in SMSY from "manual" to "SLD"

Hello,
unfortunately some of my systems appear in SMSY with data source "manual" although the data is collected automatically via SLD. How can I switch the data source to "SLD" for these systems?
I already tried to delete the system in SMSY. After the next SLD-Sync-Run the system still has the setting "manual".
Can someone help?

I have the situation where I have a system in the SLD but cannot get the SLD to update it. The data source is Manual (Automatic Refresh). I've tried changing this to the other manual data source, running the landscape fetch, changing back to manual (automatic refresh) and running landscape fetch again. Still, the data source says Manual (Automatic Refresh). I even tried to delete everything about this system and add it back. I couldn't get the corresponding system component deleted but did manage to delete everything else. After re-creating, I still have the problem. I can't find the solution. Any ideas from anyone? Thanks!

11.5.9 - standard Journal Import Run - Scheduling

In 11.5.9, Is it possible to schedule the standard concurrent program "Journal Import" to import the records from GL interface instead of doing it manual Journal --> Import --> Run? . I have to pass only sourcename withhout group-id.
