Manual outline creation
is that only work for ASO cube with "create outline ..." Maxl command?
It is an ASO command :-
"Create an aggregate storage outline based on a block storage outline. The outline you are creating must be for an aggregate storage database that is local to your current login session. The block-storage database you are using as a source can be remote."
If you want to create an BSO with a blank outline or copy a database then just use the create database command.

Manual replica creation of DeDup Volumes
Hi,
we are on the way to update a lot of our file Servers to Windows Server 2012.
DeDup will be enabled on the volumes.
We are going to to backup these voumes via DPM2012SP1.
Now my question: Is it possible to create a Manual replica (for example with the help of USB external drives) for dedup enabled volumes or does the replica creation process have to be triggered from within DPM console so that all data will be transfered
over the Network?
Thanks in advance
regards
/bkpfast
My postings are provided "AS IS" with no warranties and confer no rightsHi,
Unfortumatly, you cannot perform a manual replica creation for a deduped volume in a deduped state, however, you can perform the following, but don't think it would provide you much benefit.
1) On the protected server that has the dedup volume you want to protect, create a dummy folder in the root of the volume.
2) On the DPM Server, protect the dedup volume, except uncheck the dummy folder. Choose to make a manual replica.
3) Copy the contents of the protected volume to the replica volume using any method you choose.
4) Run the mandatory consistency check to make sure the data is equivelent.
5) On the DPM Server, modify the PG and now include the dummy folder - basically uncheck the drive letter and recheck it so DPM will protect the whole volume now.
6) On the protected server, delete the dummy folder.
7) Re-run a new consistency check, and DPM will now protect the volume in a dedup state. This will result in only transfering deduped blocks, and leaving non-dedup blocks intact.
Again, that may not buy you much and may be a waste of time - but give it whirl.

user609308One error i didn't suspect -> don't using SID with lowercase and uppercase in the name.
Thing i've forgotten to say: variables have to be set both in the .bat and the first .sql but they have to match too with values in the init.ora. That why i would like to simplify all these declarations with unifying them into a single file.
If somebody can help me, please

post your CREATE database command with ALERT<SID>.LOG file.

Manual/Autometic creation of cost elements in chart of accounts field
Dear Friends,
While creation of Chart of accounts (OB13) under Controlling Integratiion tab
thers is two options are there.
1 manual creation of cost elements
2 autometic creation of cost elements.
While creation of cost elements if we select
(MANUAL CREATION OF COST ELEMENTS) what will happen???
(AUTOMETIC CREATION OF COST ELEMENTS) what will happen?
What is the main difference between about two fields?
Thanks in advance,
MallikaHi,
MANUAL CREATION OF COST ELEMENTS - Cost elements maintained manually. A push button is available for
this purpose, with which you can go directly to the related cost
element.
AUTOMETIC CREATION OF COST ELEMENTS - Cost elements maintained automatically. When you save a new G/L
account, the related cost element is automatically created. A prerequisite is that a default value for the cost element category
has been set up for this cost element. If no default value is found, the system will not create a cost element.
You can make default settings via :
Cost Element accounting --> master data --> cost element --> automatic creation of primary and secondaru cost element --> make default settings

Oracle 9i manual database creation on the Red Hat 9 Linux
I installed Oracle 9I on the Red Hat 9 Linux successfully with automatic database creation.
I tried to create second database manually and everything seemed to be fine until I issued create database statement. I got the following error:

Please help me to solve the problem.
Thank you,Ok I am having the same exact problem and I am typing this into the shell before I run the installer.
export DISPLAY=yourdesktop:0.0
I thought that would fix the problem but it still hangs and gives the same message as the other guy gets. How can I solve this problem and get the installer running? I would really appreciate any help. This is the message I get:

Hi all,
I have created a manual standby,in which I am pushing the archives from primary server to secondary server and then the second script at secondary server which applies the archives over there.
Now the problem is each time the the first batch file is run it copies the entire archives from primary server to secondary server.
e.g. xcopy [primary location] [secondary server]
has anybody script which copies only newly generated archives.Since copying all the archives from one location to another location is time and resourse consuming.
Thanx in advance,
Santosh KumarNot sure if you missed anything, but it seems like you are doing this the hard way. That said the things that jump as questionable are:
4. Disable the manual apply job on standby once the standby database is in sync with Primary .
Why not use perform a switchover at this point? (And keep the new primary in defer mode)
Change the INIT file on the new Primary restart and you are done.
INIT settings I would review
FAL_SERVER
FAL_CLIENT
STANDBY_FILE_MANAGEMENT
DB_UNIQUE_NAME
DB_FILE_NAME_CONVERT
LOG_FILE_NAME_CONVERT
LOG_ARCHIVE_DEST_1
LOG_ARCHIVE_DEST_2
LOG_ARCHIVE_DEST_STATE_1
LOG_ARCHIVE_DEST_STATE_2
LOG_ARCHIVE_MAX_PROCESSES
If you do the above you can skip step 5
6. Creating Temporary tablespace for the new Primary & making it default.
This seems odd to me. Does you current Primary not have a TEMP tablespace? If you switchover it should be there.
7. Configration of Network settings i.e. creation of Listenser.ora and Tnsnames.ora
These should already exist.
I would strongly consider not using this plan. Shut down your current Primary and changes its INIT file so it not using Data Guard and then move it to the new server using either SCP or RMAN duplicate. -
Manual Database Creation on win 2000
Oracle 9i(release 1) database server is installed on win2000 server.
i want complete detail steps to create database manually ON WIN 2000 SERVER.
i tried to create database manually but when i runs the
database creation script it generates an error 'INSTANCE TERMINATED : DISCONNECTION FORCED'
I AM STUDENT OF FUNDAMENTAL 1 COURSE.
rohitIt is good to know the steps to create a database manually. If you run the dbca and choose only to create the scripts you realize the steps. Apart from that if you are studying for Fundamentals I exam and you want to it because you think that content is going to appear. Forget it. In that exam there are not questions related to steps to create a database manually and less in windows.
To learn to create a database in Unix makes sense really!

10g error on initjvm.sql during manual db creation
Hi all,
I get an error after my (manual) database ceation when I want to install a jvm (on Suse linux 10g), I hope you can help.
I've done several 'clean' installations by hand and several 'full' installations using the dbca. But I want to have a 'clean' install from my own scripts (including a RON & use of inside java later), but this effort fails (after a neat installation) when I want to install the jvm using the initjvm.sql script.
After my default database creation, I want to install the JVM, by starting:
cd /u01/app/oracle/product/10.1.0/db_1/javavm/install
sqlplus sys/[passwd] as sysdba @initjvm.sql 2>&1 | tee ~/setup_inst01/spool/initjvm.lst
cd -At the end (or at least at the end of this run) I get the following error:
begin if :jvmrmaction = 'NONE' then
ERROR at line 1:
ORA-29558: JAccelerator (NCOMP) not installed. Refer to Install Guide for
instructions.
ORA-06512: at "SYS.DBMS_JAVA", line 236
ORA-06512: at line 2It seemed that this JAccelerator was not really necessary for a JVM to run. So I installed the JVM check funtion (which I've installed before on Metalink's advice):
CREATE OR REPLACE FUNCTION XMLVER RETURN VARCHAR2 IS LANGUAGE JAVA NAME
'oracle.xml.parser.v2.XMLParser.getReleaseVersion() returns java.lang.String';
/Unfortunatelly it returned:
ERROR at line 1:
ORA-29540: class oracle/xml/parser/v2/XMLParser does not existThis gives me a clue the JVM is not installed properly.
I've run the rmjvm.sql script and am searching for a way to install the jvm correctly using scripts (not the dbca).
At this developing stage I'm not really able to contact Metalink, so I'm wondering how to install a JVM on a 10g database using scripts (10.1.0.3.0 on Linux). Anyone got an idea?
Regards,
MichielSo,
I removed the JVM by running @rmjvm.sql in @ORA_HOME/javavm/install, then installed it again by running @initjvm.sql and ignored the error.
Next was running @initxml.sql in $ORA_HOME/rdbms/admin, but that wasn't really right (so @rmxml.sql in the same dir). After I ran @initxml.sql from @ORA_HOME/xdk/admin, no problems!

Manual replica creation for Hyper-V
We have several remote hyper-v hosts that we want to move to DPM. The problem is capturing the initial replica since the WAN bandwidth is limited. The procedure for manually creating a file share replica is very straightforward. Is there a TechNet
article on manually creating a replica for a protected Hyper-V guest? Has anyone gone through the process?
RobBetter outline of the steps to seed replica.
Create the protection group on the DPM server and choose to protect the Hyper-V VM. Choose to manually create the replica in the wizard.
Select the protected VM in the DPM console in the protection view.
Click on the "Click to view details" to get the replica path.
Highlight the row listed and right-click, choose Copy
Paste the path it into notepad or equivalent
Copy the path from C:\ to the end to the clipboard.
This path will be used in the following steps.
Go to a command line
Run psexec -s cmd to get a command shell as the system account
cd "C:\...." where C:\... is the pasted value from the copy above
cd "Virtual Machines"
cd servername where servername is the only subfolder in this directory
Copy the vhdx into this directory.
Rob
EDIT: Note that the path names I've listed above are dependent upon where your files are located. You're path to the VHD will be the same as it is on the physical machine. So if you keep your VHD in D:\myvm\myserver then your DPM path after the
GUID will be Full\D-VOL\myvm\myserver. Copy the VHD into that folder.
