Manual selection of production version in REM scenario.
Hai gurus,
I discrete manufacturing we can several production versions and we can select the same manually
when we convert planned order to production order. Like this whether it is possible in REM scenario
to select the production version manually, if so what is the settings and procedure.
waiting for the positive reply.
regards,
sekar chand.
Dear Sekar Chand,
Are you not able to select the production version in MFBF manually ,assuming if you have more than
one production version for the same material?
What Tejas has suggested you is to start the planning process itself based on Prod.versions ---> MRP
run-> planned orders--> Production confirmation.
In case if you do not take MRP run and go for a direct confirmation also you will be able to select the
production version in MFBF.
IF not means revert back.

How to select the production versions for MTO?
Hi PP Experts,
In our scenario we have two production versions and also we are in MTO strategy. While creating the sales order is there any option to select the production version (i.e.) before planning for that corresponding sales order I have to choose the production versions.
Example:
Material u2013 A -
sale order u2013 666001 u2013Prod version - 0001
Material u2013 A --- sale order u2013 666002 u2013 prod version - 0002
How to map the above scenario?
Thanks in advance.

If the Production version selection is based on Lot size means No problem.
If both the Production version is same lot size, system will select the first PV only in MRP
In STD SAP, we can't Give Production Version in sale order level,
If you want after MRP run , U can assign Production version in plan order or in production order Manually -
Automactic Selection of production Version
Hi.
I have created a material "A"
I maintained in material master's MRP4 view selection method "2"
I have created two production version with same validity period & same lot size "0001" & "0002"
I maintained in order type dependent parameter's masterdata tab in production version column "Automatic production version selection"
Now when i am going to create a process order system is selection production version "0001".
But I want automatic selection of production version "0002".
What setting shall I do?
Regards
VivekDear Vivek,
I maintained in order type dependent parameter's masterdata tab in production version column "Automatic production version selection"
In order type dependent parameters maintain as manual selection
Then system will raise an pop-up to select production version while creating prodiuction order
The above setting is only useful while creating manual production order
If you are converting plan order to production order then above setting will not play any role
System will default take 1st PV
All you can do is you can change manually in plan order
Or if you want system to take automatically in MRP then you need to lock 1st PV

Selecting New Production version while Splitting a Production Order
Hi SAP Gurus,
Is there any option of selecting a New Production Version for a split Production Order?
I have a production Order with three operations 10.20 and 30. This production Order is curently using the Production Version 001. Now , i have split the production order at Operation 30 and want to select new production Version 002 for the same.
Can you please let me know if this is possible?Hi Sandeep,
If you don't mind can you please let me know for what purpose you want to assign a new production version to production order after splitting at operation 30?
To quickly recap, Production version is used if you have alternative BOM or alternative routings for a material. Based on Production Version that you have assigned in Material Master - MRP screen, your Routing and BOM details are selected.
So how is this Production Version 002 different from Production Version 001 - is it in terms of routing or bom?
With Best Regards,

Selection of production version
dear
I have scenario like below
have a BOM for Halb with BOM usage as 1Have another BOM for same material with usage as 3
So i created two production version...i have a common routing for both version
This particular halb is phantom item in bom level
No what i want to achive is that
1.system need to select first PV if the demand from Fert
2.System need to select second PV if the demand from Halb itself(sometime a manual production order)
So psl tell how to control selection of production versionon this scenario
AFDear Abu,
Check by making these settings.
1.When the demand flows from the finished product to sub-assemblies and components, then in this case the system always
picks the first production version(assuming the lot size, valid from and to date is same for the different production versions for
the sub-assembly) when you maintain the BOM selection method as 2 in the MRP4 view of the sub-assembly.
2.When you provide the demand for the sub-assembly directly mention the second production version in MD61 and carryout
MRP and check the results.

Selection of Production version during MRP run
Hello experts
At present I am having 2 production versions for a material code as PV01 and MV01.
By putting validity date I am restricting correct version to be picked in MRP.
Is there any other way, for example in material master where if I maintain the production version, then MRP should pick that only.
Please suggest the best way.
Regards
Pradipta SahooDear Pradipata,
If you are having more than one production version for a material for the same Lot size and validity
dates, and if you have given BOM selection method as 2 in MRP4 view, then always the system picks up
the first production version defaultly.
If you want the system to pick up the second production version in that case means, you have to lock
the first production in MM02 or C223.
Check and revert back.

Product Cost Collector
Definition
Cost object in Product Cost by Period that collects the periodic actual costs incurred in the production of a material. When you use a product cost collector, the product is the main cost object.
Use
Product cost collectors are independent of the production type. This means that you can collect actual costs on product cost collectors in the following production environments:
In order-related production (that is, when you are using production orders) when you want to analyze the costs by period rather than by lot
In process manufacturing (that is, when you are using process orders) when you want to analyze the costs by period rather than by lot
Repetitive manufacturing
In repetitive manufacturing you always use product cost collectors as cost objects.
Product cost collectors are available from Release 4.5A onwards. In earlier releases, the costs of repetitive manufacturing materials were collected on production cost collectors. From Release 4.5A onwards, production cost collectors are converted into product cost collectors. For information on the conversion process, see Converting Production Cost Collectors into Product Cost Collectors.
Order splits for production orders
When you split production orders, the costs for the parent order and child order are allocated to the same product cost collector.
See also: Order Splits in Cost Object Controlling
Constraints
Product cost collectors cannot be used for the following objects and production environments:
Manufacturing orders that settle to a sales order item if you are using a nonvaluated sales order stock in sales-order-related production
Sales-order-related production with a valuated sales order stock, except in repetitive manufacturing environments
Engineer-to-order environments
Manufacturing orders that are part of a collective order
Joint production
Joint production is a production process that yields two or more products in a single production run. In the Product Cost Controlling component (CO-PC), there are a number of special processing requirements in joint production environments regarding Product Cost Planning (CO-PC-PCP) and Cost Object Controlling (CO-PC-OBJ).
In shop floor control, a manufacturing order (usually a process order) is created to manufacture co-products. In the manufacturing order, co-products are carried on the order items.
In Cost Object Controlling, actual costs are collected on the header of the manufacturing order. At the end of the period, the actual costs on the order header are distributed to the individual order items. Work in process and variances are calculated at the order item level. The order items are then settled.
Integration
In joint production, the system normally accesses master data of Production Planning for the Process Industries (PP-PI) such as the master recipe and materials list, or master data of Production Planning (PP) . To distribute the planned and actual costs to the co-products, the system uses the apportionment structure that can be specified the material master record or in the manufacturing order itself.
Terminology
Co-product
You specify that a material is a co-product by selecting the Co-product indicator in the MRP view or costing view of its master record.
Fixed-price co-product
A fixed-price co-product is a special type of co-product.
Primary product
You specify that a material is a primary product by selecting the Co-product indicator in the MRP view or costing view of its master record.
Process material
A process material is a nonstock material that is used in the R/3 System to represent the process by which co-products are produced. Instead of the primary products, you can enter a process material in the recipe header and in the order header.
Process materials have material type PROC.
By-product
A by-product is a product that is produced incidental to the production process of other products. You enter by-products in the material list of a primary product or process material with a negative quantity.
You do not set the Co-product indicator in the MRP view or costing view of the master records of by-products.
Intra material
Intra materials only exist temporarily between two processing steps. Intra materials appear in the material list as items of category M, but are not costed.
If the process is interrupted because of a malfunction, however, intra materials may have to be transferred into inventory. In this case they are valuated with a price in the material master that is selected through the valuation variant for the valuation of goods received.
Intra materials have material type INTR.
Circulating material
You can specify whether the cost of a circulating material should be included in the material list. The system selects a price for the circulating material from the costing view of the material master record.
If the circulating material is flagged as relevant to costing, the material costs appear in the itemization twice: once with a plus sign and once with a minus sign. The balance is the material input costs. -
Manual selection production version during order creation
hello!
i have setup production orders that during order creation the production version has to be selected manually. this works fine in CO01 and CO40. but in CO41 the production version is determined automatically - where would i change that setting?
best regards,
matthiasDear Matthias,
In my understanding it is not possible in standard SAP.
If you have manual selection of production version and if you have set the BOM selection method as 2 in
MRP 4 view of the material master then,
1.If you create a production order manually then the system displays the pop up to select a production
version.
2.If you are converting the planned order into a production order then it picks up the one which is
present in the planned order. So obviously if 2 production versions are there with same lot size and
validity dates, then the system picksup the first one only during MRP run.
Even if it picks up the first prod.version in planned order, but while converting click on master data and
change the production version if required.
3.Otherwise what you can do is set the production version in MD61 itself ,so that its going to be
considered during MRP run and same will be included in the planned order.
Check and revert back.

Selecting production version in MRP run
Hi dudes,
our client is having reuirement is he will select the production version irrespective of lot size, but he select the production version at the time of manual creation of process order where it depends on resource(work center used in recipe of particular production version, BOM will be 1 alternative only.
now while running MRP how to make system to allow manual selection of production version at the time of converting planned order to processs order.
respond asap plz...
Daniel.Hi ,
During MRP, system will select the production version based on Validity date & Lot size.
If a material contains two production versions with same validity date & Lot size qty , system will select the First valid PV by default (unless it is locked) & will copy to planned order.
When u convert the planned order to production order, default PV will be copied automatically from planned order. Here u cannot select PV manually.
Settings:
Create valid production version with lot size and Valid routing , BOM at MRP view of Planning material.
Assign the selection method = 2 or 3 at MRP view of Planning Material

MRP Run with production version.
Hi Experts;
I am working as a member of a SAP implementation supporting team. The client wants to run MRP with alternative BOM, not with the 1st BOM. As a solution for the requirement i created production versions and assigned to MD61 schedule line tab. It is working properly.
But the user maintain some quantity as a safety stock for finished materials also. To cover the safety stock requirement, system create planned orders with the 1st BOM, not the production version.Already i have maintained the selection method "3" in material master.
Is it possible to cover safety stock with alternative BOM.
Please help..
Thanks,
MalkaHello Malka,
For your issue,,
As per other expert suggested you can block the first production version but if in future you want use first production then,,
In these case you maintain production version in many way
Ex.
1. Lot size .(if production version using for specific lot)
Maintain the Lot for both production version, so Production version 1 lot completed system take second production version.
2. Production version validity date (If production version using for specific period )
In this case after completion of 1. Production version period system take second one
3. Manually selection of production version (If multiple production version and all have same condition)
Whenever you convert the planned order to production order, one pop up come and ask for manually selection for Production version, for this you go to OPL8 and select the Manually production version
I hope this information cover your all requirement, No need to go with quota arrangement
Still you want know about the Quota arrangement, Please create new thread so other expert also provide their view

Production version issue.
Dear Guru's,
I have created two version in material master.
also I have changed in "opl8"{ production version = Manual selection of production version}
but still system is not asking me for production version at the time of creation of production order.
system is asking me routing only
now I am selecting version from function>read master data ( production version).
please sugest me wat i have to do for pop up of production version at the time of production order creation
and also system is not giving me any request no. at the time of save the changes in IMG.what will be issue
NileshDear,
please see that PV is applicable in terms of lot size, dates and status
if both
PV are valid wityh respect to the above then only upi will get the pop up for PV selection.

Production Version Not Reflecting in Production Order
Hi Experts,
I have a query, I have made alternative BOM and second Production Version of a FG Today. Production Version is very much Ok (Green). I have clearly mentioned Alternative BOM 2 in alternative bom.
When creating production order thru CO01, production version is not coming in Co01. Message is coming " No valid production version is found for this material".
Kindly confirm me what mistakes I have done.
Regards
GR
Edited by: G R on Dec 18, 2008 9:48 AMDear G R,
1.Check whether your prod.version has been locked and what value have you maintained in MRP4 view
BOM selection method.check whether has it got the value 02.
2.Also in OPL8 - under planning tab select the option for manual selection of production version.
check and revert back.
3.Also check the validity dates. Also your production order start date.

Automatic selection production version in MFBF
Hello !
I have a material setted with Selection method = 2(Selection by production version) in Material Master, so, I have two production version: V001 & V002, the last one is locked for any usage.
I need automatic selection of production version in MFBF , but when I'm doing the confirmation the system show the screen of production version selection with two versions .
Do you know what is missing for automatic selection works ?
Thanks a lot.
VeroHi Vernoica ,
Good Day , PV will be selected based on the lot size and the creation dates.
It will copy the PV (BOM & Routing ) based on Lot size or Explosion date you defind in MRP-4 view i.e. BOM selection ,BY -explosion date,1-lot size,2- by PV and 3 by PV only.
If you would like to get rid the selection of PV,
why dont you try created a production version than only go to material master change screen MM02 in MRP4 view and Select 2 at selection method field.
In the IMG (OPLD) for Order Type Dependent Parameters, the production version selection is already set to manual selection. But the production version is always defaulted as version 1 which is the first one in the material master and is not asking to select the version at the time of converting the planned order to a production order!
You can also check settings in configue trans OPL8 to have routing selection set to automatic selection if you want to avoid placing routing versions in each individual material master. Just another way to look at it
Hope it will resolve your problem. -
Production version selection according to explosion date
Hello
In customizing for MRP (OPPQ), parameters for BOM explosion / routing selection is 3 (BOM explosion number/order start date).
In MRP4 view of material master, selection method for BOM explosion is 2 (Selection by production version).
No MRP group is assigned.
I have 3 production versions : one for 2014, one for 2015, one for 2016 :
I use a BOM explosion number with fixed key date 1st December 2015 :
When manually creating a planned order with dates in 2014 and explosion number EXP_1215 (fixed key date 1st December 2015), Production Version PV1 is selected (valid for 2014), but no routing is selected because explosion date is BOM explosion number, and in PV1 there is no valid routing in 2015 :
Is it possible to select production version according to explosion date, and not order dates ?Hi Tristan
The following modification note can be used to influence the selection of production version on planned orders:
351773 - Selection of production versions for planned order
Alternatively, you can create your own logic using BAdI MD_MODIFY_PRODVERS.
