Manual sorting in album in iPhoto 11 resets itself when I close iPhoto. Any suggestions?

I'm using iPhoto 11 and am trying to combine photos from three different cameras (so slightly different date/time stamp). I have copied all photos into an album, then sorted by date. Because of variation in date/time I need to sort manually to combine all pics from same activity. So after sorting by date I set view to sort manually. This worked just fine until I closed iPhoto and the manual sorting I had done was lost. Any suggestions?

Have you tried to adjust the time for the photos from the different cameras?
You can create three smart albums with the rule "Camera model is" to separate the photos from the three cameras in albums.
Then select all photos from one of the cameras and use the command "Photos > Adjust Date and Time".  Now you can shift the time of all photos by the same amount, so that the dates in your cameras are perfectly in sync.
If you get the times in sync you probably need no longer to sort the albums manually, but the sorting should stick, when you close iPhoto.
Try to repair the iPhoto library with the First Aid Tools.
Press and hold down the alt/option key ⌥ and the command keys at the same time and launch iPhoto. Keep holding down both keys until you see the First Aid panel.  From the panel select to "Repair database".

  • In iPhoto if I select View, then Sort Photos by title, how do I stop it reverting to sorting by date when I close iPhoto and re-open it later?

In iPhoto if I select View, then Sort Photos by title, how do I stop it reverting to sorting by date when I close iPhoto and re-open it later?

In what mode, Events, Photos or in an Album, are you when you select View ➙ Sort ➙ By Title?
As a first fix attempt try the following:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
         User/Home/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
User/Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder (Snow Leopard and Earlier).
or with Mt. Lion from the User/Library/Containers/com.apple.iPhoto/
    Data/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder
3 - launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE 1: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding down the Option key when launching iPhoto.  You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.
NOTE 2:  In Lion and Mountain Lion the Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.

  • Ipod constantly resetting itself when plugged into Itunes.

My new 5G 80gig Ipod constantly resets itself when I plug it into Itunes. Any ideas? The Ipod is new...

Here's what I've done so far unsuccessfully:
Placed it into disk mode, but it does the same thing. Once plugged into the computer the ipod is recognized by both windows and Itunes but it resets itself within 30 seconds. It constantly keeps resetting itself.
Also, since it keeps resetting itself, and therefore disappears form itunes, I cannot reformat/hardreset it via Itunes....

From the Ipad manual - actually the same in Ipad, Ipod, Iphone --- the support site listed has frequently asked questions on Icloud drive.
    Set up iCloud Drive
You can set up iCloud Drive using Setup Assistant when you install iOS 8, or you can set it up later in Settings. iCloud Drive is an upgrade to Documents & Data. When you upgrade to iCloud Drive, your documents are copied to iCloud Drive and become available on your devices using iCloud Drive. You won’t be able to access the documents stored in iCloud Drive on your other devices until they are also upgraded to iOS 8 or OS X Yosemite. For more information about upgrading to iCloud Drive, see support.apple.com/kb/HT6345.
Set up iCloud Drive. Go to Settings > iCloud > iCloud Drive, turn on iCloud Drive, then follow the onscreen instructions.

a best practice to is to never have any computer program (including iPhoto) delete the photos from the card but to import the photos and keep them and then after at least one successful backup cycle has completed and then reformat the card --  I use three very large (32 GB) cards in rotation so I do not reformat for typically a year or more giving me one more long term backup of my photos
Try Back up your iPhoto library, Depress and hold the option (alt) and command keys and launch iPhoto - rebuild your iPhoto library database

  • IPhone resets itself when not in use

I have an original iPhone which has been updated to 3.0. Since the update I've noticed that the phone will spontaneously restart itself when not in use. When this happens I'll notice the screen light up with the silver Apple logo and then go blank. This will happen repeatedly. While this is going on I can't use the phone until I plug it into the computer. Once iTunes does it's thing the phone will return to normal for a while - sometimes a day or two - before repeating this behavior. I have reset and restored the phone but without solving the problem. Apart from this everything seems to be working properly.
    Any ideas?

Have you tried restoring and setting up as a new phone (i.e., not restoring from a backup)? Sometimes those backups bring along whatever is messing up your phone.

  • I downloaded an add-on to have firefox reset itself everytime I close/reopen. Now I want to remove it. It's not listed as an add-on. How can I get rid of it?

I downloaded an add-on to have firefox reset itself every time I close and reopen it. Now I want to remove it, but it's not showing as an add-on. How can I get rid of it?

You can check the target line in the Firefox desktop shortcut (right-click: Properties) to make sure that nothing is appended after the path to the Firefox program.
Do a clean reinstall and delete the Firefox program before (re)installing a fresh copy of the current Firefox release.
*Download the full Firefox installer and save the file to the desktop<br>http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all.html
If possible uninstall your current Firefox version to cleanup the Windows registry and settings in security software.
*Do NOT remove "personal data" when you uninstall your current Firefox version, because this will remove all profile folders and you lose personal data like bookmarks and passwords including data in profiles created by other Firefox versions.
Remove the Firefox program before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.
    *(32 bit Windows) "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\"
    *(64 bit Windows) "C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\"
*It is important to delete the Firefox program to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
Your bookmarks and other personal data are stored in the Firefox profile folder and won't be affected by an uninstall and (re)install, but make sure that "remove personal data" is NOT selected when you uninstall Firefox.
If you keep having problems then also create a new profile.

  • My ipod keeps resetting itself when i plug it in to the computer, now what?

Basically, I plugged my ipod into my laptop as usual and itunes sprang up with an error message that i can't quite remember. I just remember that it mentioned a file corruption and that i should either restore the ipod settings or i should disconnect and reconnect it. I reconnected it and got the same result, then tried again. This time iTunes didn't recognise it all and within a minute of being connected my ipod reset itself. The laptop registers it, but my ipod just keeps resetting itself and i don't know what to do. I've tried resetting it and restoring default settings, so what more can i do or is a repair the only option?

Follow the steps mentioned in this article to disable the camera notification: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1501 , then try again to connect to iTunes.

  • Macbook resetting itself when the battery dies.

Hi all I am really hoping someone can shed some light on what’s happening to my Looney MacBook.
About two days ago I forgot to put it on charge when the battery was on 3% and it shut down, so I turned it back on when I had connected it to the power like normal and expected all to be okay. The computer had completely reset itself, time, date, Internet passwords, background everything. I put everything back to how it should and tried to connect to Facebook. The webpage was just the raw webpage, without its style sheet (is the only way I can describe it). So I was like okay that’s weird, and normally after a few refreshes it goes back to normal but it didn’t. It wasn’t because the Internet connection was slow either.
The next day it was still the same, deleted the cache reset everything on safari and restarted which seemed to fix it. I have just let the battery run down again (bad I know) and it did it all over again.
So I am turning to here to figure out what is going on! I hope it can be fixed, as I love my mac too much!
    Appreciate any help!
    Thanks

If you love your Mac, stop running its battery down the the point that it shuts off.

  • Why does my ipod automatically reset itself when im listening to it?!

I will be clicking through songs and all of a sudden it just resets itself...and also if im fast forwarding through a song it also just resets it self.....everything it up to date so what is the problem
    5th gen video   Windows XP

You could reset iPod when scrolling trough songs very quickly, you might have pressed -MENY- by mistake while scrolling. Do not give Your iPod too much commands in same time, i'd bug myself if somebody push me round too much. It's a good machine but do not over do it.
    Hope this helped

  • Why did my iPod  reset itself when I was trying to watch a video?

    Hi Everyone,
I was watching a video on my ipod and I got halfway through the video and the Ipod reset itself. My iPod is okay after it reset itself. I was wondering has this happened to anyone else and what can I do to fix it?
    I would appreciate any help.
    Thanks,
    lizabler

    Hey lizabler!
I personally haven't experiened this specific thing myself, by I have certainly read issues like your quite a few times on the Discussions.
When your iPod resets itself in this kind of case, this happens usually because, while you're playing a video on your iPod, it's not being able to continuouly load and play that video fast enough to actually play the video at a normal speed.
This can be caused by the iPod's battery.
How charged/discharged was your iPod around the time when your iPod reset itself? Try letting your iPod's battery fully die, then let it recharge for a full 3 hours, and see if this ever happens again.
Also, if this ever happens again, have you tried resetting your iPod several times? (holding the "Menu" and middle buttons together for 10 seconds)
Sometimes your iPod resetting itself can also be caused by your iPod's memory being highly used. For example, if you have a 60 GB iPod, and you've used up 54 GB of it already, this can sometimes somehow bog up the iPod, causing it to act strangely.
If this iPod-resetting-itself behavior recurrs, and resetting the iPod several times doesn't help, try restoring your iPod to factory settings -> How to restore your iPod
I hope that info helps you.

  • Nano resetting itself when playing video

I have just bought a brand new Nano and I'm very happy with it so far. However after applying the new firmware update I've noticed a problem. When playing a video the Ipod will sometimes reset itself for no apparent reason. Sometimes I can sit for an entire bus journey and nothing will happen. Other times I can be sitting there for only 10 minutes watching a video and it will reset itself then go to the Video Select screen again. When resuming the video it will be at the point it was when originally turning the device on. Thus 'forgetting' what I've watched so far.
Is it the firmware do you think?
Has anyone else had a similar problem?
    Any workarounds/solutions?

I think I've figured out how to keep it from resetting. Each time I watch a video I return to the video menu before turning the Nano off. When I turn it back on and select the video I had previously been watching it plays from the correct spot. Since I have been doing this the Nano has not reset itself even once. It's a bit annoying to have to do this, but much less annoying then having it reset in the middle of something.

  • IPod reset itself when I tried to rewind or forward the video

My 3-week-old ipod video has problem now when playing video. When I tried to rewind or foward the video (44mins, 301MB), the ipod screen suddenly turned black and the apple logo appeared at the middle (I think the ipod has reset itself). Anybody can help me to solve this problem?

Firmware? I heard the newest firmware had problems, also i would try restoring the iPod or converting it with something else. Never heard of Jodix, make sure it is converting the file to iPod standards.

  • MBP will completely reset itself when the battery dies

My MBP will completely reset itself (date, time, internet passwords, network passwords, etc..) when the battery dies. So i assume the reset is due to the lack of holding a battery charge.

The symptom you describe usually occurs when the battery is disconnected.  Since your Battery Hardware display indicates that your battery condition is 'Check Battery", that probably is the culprit.  I would think that a new battery should solve the issue.  Bring you MBP to an Apple store genius bar.
