  • Manually transfer Address Book

I backed up all of my Tiger Hard Drive folders (System, Library, Applications, & User folder) onto an external Hard Drive. Then erased the internal drive and did a clean Leopard install. Then I manually replaced the data I wanted, avoiding the data I suspected might be corrupted or incompatible.
All went smoothly, except for my Address Book. I now realize that I should've exported as one big vcard in Tiger first. But it's too late now.
Does anyone know which files I have to retrieve from the Tiger data to get the addresses into Leopard? (I tried addressbook preferences, along with library/application support/addressbook, but it didn't work.
    Thanks in advance!

Got it to work! Not sure which file did it, so I'll just list all the files and folders I copied over and where I copied them to...
    1.) Home folder/Library/Preferences/com.apple.AddressBook.abd.plist
    2.) Home folder/Library/Preferences/com.apple.AddressBook.plist
    3.) Home folder/Library/Application Support/AddressBook **
** To get this last step to work, drag the entire "AddressBook" folder out of the Application Support folder (you can put it in the trash for now) and then put the original folder in its place. Otherwise you'll get a system warning saying "File 'AddressBook-v22.abcddb' cannot be replaced because it is in use."
And that's it. Open your Address Book application and see if your old addresses are there. Once you've confirmed the data, choose Export from the Address Book File menu and save as Address Book Archive for next time.

  • Address Book-Bluetooth-Dial Cell Phone or Send SNS

I have repeatedly paired my Cell Phone to my Powerbook according to the available procedures. When I select a phone number in Address Book both "Dial on Cell Phone" and "Send SMS" are grey. The bluetooth symbol at the top of the Address Book page never turns blue as described after successful pairing of my cell phone to my computer. I would like to use my Address Book with my cell phone (Motorola V557). Please tell me how!

Yes and no. At least in my opinion.
Before iPhone Apple worked with mobile hardware makers to integrate features like you describe into Address Book to make it easier to manage calls and Address Book contacts.
Now, on the iPhone those same contacts are all on the iPhone. I can see how someone at Apple might come to the conclusion that the "dial with phone" feature would not be implemented. I did use the feature all the time with my Sony Ericsson W810i, but I don't miss it at all with my iPhone.

  • Using Address Book with 2 mobile phones

Since a few weeks I have a second mobile phone that I also use with iSync for contact and calendar synchronisation. The problem was that Address Book could only pair with / connect to the newly added phone, not the 'old phone' anymore.
I found some old threads with the same problem stated, but no answers were given. I did find a fix for it though. I used the application Pref Setter to clear the preferences of Address Book (you can also delete the file located at: /library/preferences/com.apple.AddressBook.plist). Restart Address Book and the bleutooth mobile phone entry is now empty again. You will be able to choose a phone to pair with.
However, if anyone knows how to use 2 phones simultaniously, please tell me!
    Powerbook 12"   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

You can't use Address Book with more than one phone at the same time unfortunately, it simply does not have this functionality.
I developed a little application called "Reset Address Book Pairing" which does exactly that without deleting (and therefore losing) your Address Book preferences. Just one setting in the prefs actually needs changing.
It's included with the Sony Ericsson Address Book Enabler, which adds Call & SMS support for over 40 new Sony Ericsson phones to the Mac Address Book.

  • Download to sony ericsson phone

I'm downloading songs onto my sony ericsson phone. Some files transfer fine and some come up with 'no useable track found message". The ones that don't work have the main folder but I can't open that folder any further to get to the downloadable track ( which has a picture of a white music note with an orage background)
    HELP

That happened to me, too. What I ended up doing was burning those songs that can't expand (don't have a "+") onto a cd. Then instead of selecting "My Music" or "My Computer," selecting "Audio CD." You can then download the files, aren't named. Hope this helps!

  • I feel cheated at Sony Ericsson phones

I have a W980 phone and your DESIGN FLAWS on your UNIQUE PLUG SYSTEM broke off and cutting the solder ends with it, now it is unable to be soldered thus making it unable to be reformated from a previous hang on the operating system. Now i have no way of using it anymore... what should i do about this phone and future sony ericsson phones if the same thing happen again?

There is no repair option. Technicians gave up on it.
If you know your SE well, you should be very much informed that once this plug outlet is torn-off from the motherboard with its solder ends with it... IT CANNOT BE FIXED.
    ...it cannot be charged
...pretty much it cannot be connected to anything anymore
...not unless you wanna order a new motherboard for the phone, which is not applicable.
Why can't SE just use a SIMPLE mini-usb outlet rather than this absurd unstable plug outlet. Now, I don't feel very confident just thinking about this accessory outlet.

  • Acessing a data in Sony Ericsson Phones

In Nokia phones you can also use an absolute path so that it
does not matter the SWF's path, for example:
    myXML_obj.load(file:///c:/nokia/others/mydata.xml);
How can I do this in Sony Ericsson phones?

Thanks Michael, you just reminded me I needed to update that page!
Having owned a K700, then a K750, I've just got myself a K800, which I can thoroughly recommend. It's a great upgrade from the K750 and K700, especially if you like 'candy-bar' style phones, and the SE user interface.
The 3.2mp camera and 240x320 pixel screen are superb.
Also, as you're in the UK, you can get it free on virtually any contract from all the networks. Check out somewhere like www.e2save.com for details.

  • Transfer Address Book - unable to locate object push server

Well, I've seen this issue raised on many forums but no answers forthcoming from either RIM nor service providers - in my case, Swisscom.
    The environment & issue:-
unit: Blackberry Pearl 8100 / firmware just updated to v4.2.1.94 (platform 2.3.0.77) - enterprise server activated
Car:  BMW 330 new off the line Nov 2008
BMW notes:- according to their literature, the Pearl and this level firmware is fully supported
    Before the firmware upgrade...
could make Bluetooth connection but if "transfer address book" was enabled, the link would drop every 30 seconds
    After the firmware upgrade...
Bluetooth connection established and stable - even with address book transfer enabled but:-
    *  address book is not (automatically) transferred
    *  attempts to force a transfer results in the message (on the Pearl) - "unable to locate object push server"
This seems to indicate the pearl is looking for an enterprise server in the car - why, I don't know
Would be great to break this impasse

I had this problem on my own (I have a car with Bluetooth -Mercedes W204- and a BB 8820) and I was struggling with this for several months. I look everywhere on the internet with no answers and I found a lot of people with the same problem. However.... I think I FINALLY HAVE THE SOLUTION:
    Here we go:
    - On a bluetooth connection you have, basically, two components.
    - You have the BB device and the car device. The key is that the car that is able to receive address book transfers has TWO services:
    1) hands free unit
    2) Objects Push
The thing is that this TWO services cannot work together AT THE SAME TIME. Normally, you have the car device activated as a "hands free unit", SO, when you attempt to transfer the address book, you receive the famous message "unable to locate object push server".
The one million dollar question is "how can you switch to "Objects push" mode ? Answer: go to Bluetooth, select your car device, open Options and press for "update list of services" and.... voilá!!! the description "hands free unit" will change to "objects push". At that time you will be able to transfer contacts (obviously setting your car device -in my case- to receive those contacts).
Be careful: once you finalized the transfer, you must deactive the car device for receiving contacts and, on your BB, update again the list of services to get your "hands free unit" again because, if not, you were possible will be having problems on connecting over the bluetooth (another common problem I saw in several posts). And that´s it. It worked for me so, pleae try it and Enjoy!! By the way, you don´t need to update your OS....
    Cheers from Argentina. Diego

  • Transfer Address Book from Pearl to Curve

The USB port on the Pearl is partially broken so that it will take a charge but not transfer data. So I bought a Curve and want to use bluetooth to transfer the address book from the Pearl to the Curve if possible.  Is that possible?
Here is what I've done. I added the Pearl as a bluetooth device on the Curve and the Curve onto the Pearl. In Bluetooth options on each device, I set the Discoverable as Yes, Allow Outgoing Calls as Always, and Address Book Transfer as All Entries. Then I had one device Search for the Other which was set to 'Allow another device to find me.' The searching device showed "1 found" then listed "No new device found; ensure the device you are searching for is in pairing mode. Search again?" I reversed the process and had the Curve search and the Pearl "Allow". No success. What else do I need to do?
I tried to connect the Pearl to the Blackberry Desktop Manager via bluetooth but although my Tecra device manager shows that there is a bluetooth rfcomm, the Bluetooth Local Com says there are no existing com ports and the bluetooth device is not ready. The Tecra device manager lists the following ports - BT Com 19, BT Com 20, BT Com 21, and RIM Virtual Serial Port V2 9 and Port V2 10.
Is there any way to avoid having to re-enter all 387 contacts which include names, mutliple phone numbers and addresses???
    Bruce

I bought a USB BlueTooth dongle for those situations and Sync the phone with desktop manager.

  • Is there a way to transfer address book GROUPS via iSync?

I've trying to transfer my address book entries to my Nokia phone via iSync.
They are nicely grouped on my Mac (after much manual labor), but do NOT show up grouped on my Nokia 6085.
I tried creating a category on the Nokia corresponding to one on my address book but that didn't work either!
Any workarounds? It's a nuisance on the Nokia to have to categorize each entry manually, one at a time!

This worked for me:  On your Mac, open Address Book.  The "All Contacts" page should be on the left, which shows groupings for "On My Mac" and "iCloud".  If this page doesn't display on the left, click on the red "bookmark" at the top of the page to bring up the "All Contacts" page.
You should be able to drag the groups showing under "iCloud" and drop them into "All on My Mac" under "On My Mac."
If you no longer want to see the "iCloud" contacts in your Mac Address Book, go to Address Book Preferences, then click on "Accounts", then click on the "iCloud" account, and then uncheck the box titled "Enable this account."
