Manual Transfer of Playlists ipodmini trouble

I have several playlists created in iTunes. I am manually maintaining the ipodmini because I have more songs on iTunes than I have room on the ipodmini. I am unable to get my playlists by "clicking and draging" them into the ipodmini icon which is the method briefly suggested in the manual. Any ideas?

b You said your iPod is set to manually copy songs onto itself
No. Manually copying is dragging and dropping by the user.
Automatic update will copy songs/playlists without user intervention.
b Well, instead of clicking and dragging playlists into your iPod icon; why don't you try this? Once you have your playlists ready to transfer them to your iPod, why don't you manually update your iPod so the playlists will also update in there?
??? Manually updating and dragging and dropping are the exact same thing.
In this case it is not working with the playlists.
Mine is (not) doing the same also.

Within itunes I am unable to "click and drag" my playlists into the ipodmini icon. I have plenty of room available on the ipod and can manually copy songs onto it, but not manually put custom playlists on it.

  • How do I transfer a playlist created on an iPhone to an iPad or iTunes 11?

    Hello,
I created a playlist on my iPhone that I really like.  I don't see how to transfer it to my iPad.  I was going to transfer that playlist to iTunes 11 and then to the iPad but I can't see how to do that.  I really don't want to have to manually create the playlist on iTunes 11.  Plus, I add songs onto the iPhone playlist.  So I want to transfer that every once and a while.  Thank you.

    Anyone?

  • How do I transfer one playlist from my itunes library to my ipod?

How do I transfer one playlist from my itunes library to my ipod. I do not want to sync my whole library music. I tried to set to *manually managing music* and drag the playlist. Doesn't work. If I try to sync *selected playlists* it wants to delete all the other music that I have on my ipod.
    Any suggestions?

Ha, it worked. Thank you anyways!

I just received a new iPod nano 7th generation and want to transfer my playlists in iTunes to the nano.  I have been unable to find instructions for this in the manual or online.  Can you help???

Select it in the iTunes sidebar, click on its name, and type a new name. If you're using iTunes 11, choose to show the sidebar from the View menu.

  • How do i transfer a playlist from a pc to my new mac?

I am having trouble moving my music from a pc to my new mac that i will be taking to college. Help would be great!

Are you just wantiing to transfer a playlist to the Mac without the tracks?  If so what do you get if you right-click on the playlist.  On the Mac we get this contextual menu:
    Select Export to get this:
That produces a text based playlist that you can copy to the Mac and have iTunes import as a playlist. Since I don't do windows it's all conjecture and theory at this point but hopefully iTunes for Windows works the same as for Mac.

  • Want to transfer muisic playlist to usb device

Want to transfer a playlist to USB device to use in my car,

Drag the tracks from the iTunes window to the USB device open in a Finder window.  If you want actual playlist structure (playing in other than file order) you will need to consult your car's manual as to how this needs to be structured as there is no uniform standard.

  • Can i transfer iphone playlist to itunes

can i transfer iphone playlist to itunes

Hey everyone!!! I believe I'm on the right thread and I HOPE SO or an iPhone is about to become a trash weight.
I am trying to figure out a way whereby when I add songs to a playlist via my iPhone and/or re-arrange the Playlist order, I am able to sync my iPhone to iTunes and have iTunes reflect the changes and/or additions I have made to the Playlist.  All of the music isn't necessarily purchased through the iTunes Store, however, they are all .mp3.
I saw the successful feedback about exporting the playlist and then importing back, HOWEVER...
when I click on the right triangle to show my iPhone playlists; it mirrors iTunes.  For example, my playlist has 245 songs and iTunes is showing 237 (both on the playlist below the right triangle and in the Playlist section itself in iTunes.  So if and when I sync, I lose those 8 songs and have to go back and manually add to the playlist on the phone again and re-order etc.
What am I missing and is there a way to make changes on the iPhone and not lose everything during a sync.
I can't thank you enough for any help anyone has to offer!!!!!!!

  • Migrating vs manually transfer vs network transfer of files, apps and itunes library

So I've tried searching and going through the forums first before I actually commit to a certain "Method Of Transfer" but could not really find what I'm trying to accomplish. So I hope some of you fellow memebrs could shed some light and advise on a few things..  Let me start by giving a summary of equipment I'm working with and what I'm trying to accomplish.
Recently purchased a new macbook pro 15" 2.4Ghz Intel Core i7 (Most recent macbook on apple's website 3/26/2012)
Prior to purchasing my new macbook I was using a 2004/2005 white 13" macbook Intel core Duo 2Ghz
What I would like to accomplish is transfer most of my applications I've paid for on the older mac to my new one. I would also like to transfer multimedia files from pics, videos and music. The part that confuses me is which ever method I decid to choose will things in my iTunes library remain in tact? Such as, playlist that have been created, syncing my iPhone and maintaning the same playlist. Basically, I would like to keep the same music library and the same playlist I have on my old mac and mirror it on the new mac. Please advise..
The 3 mtehods of tranferrring I have in question are:
    1. Migration Assistant
    2. Manual Transfer via external Hard Drive
    3. Network transfer
    4. other?
Is one method better than the other?
Which method will retain the existing settings from my old mac to the new?
    Thanks in advance!

In case others have a similar issue and see this question, what did you do?
    Sure thing..
The Method of transfer I decided to do from Old macbook to New macbook pro was "Local Network" transfer via Ethernet and did the following.
    iTunes Library transfer:
Prerequisite:Ensure iTunes on the the "source" macbook (older laptop for me) is up to date has been backed up. Export playlist and export library. I also have iTunes set to keep my library orgainzed so I dont have audio, video files in different locations. Everything for me is located in: /user/Music/iTunes/iTunes Media
Connect both laptops to each other via Ethernet cable
I also disable airport on both devices. (Im not sure you really have to do this but I did it anyway to avoid potential conflicts on my LAN)
On the "source" macbook (older one for me), I enabled sharing the music folder that contains my entire iTunes library (Go to System Preferences > Sharing > File Sharing > and select the folder that contains the desired media files you want to transfer)
On the "destination" macbook (Newer one for me), you will see the name of the "source" macbook displayed in your finder window.
Once you've reached the above steps, simply open up iTunes on your new macbook go to Files > Add to Libraryand navigate to the shared "source" macbook (located on the left pane) and select the folder that contains the media files. *The transfer process will vary depending on how many files you are trying to transfer.
After the transfer completes go ahead and import the playlist and library so the media info will be up to date in iTunes as well.
You can do the same method of transfer for other files as well. hope this helps!

  • Auto vs. manual transfer??

Hello all. I have read some posts about people having minor problems while using the automatic transfer feature for their iPod. Are there any major advantages/disadvantages for having is set to automatic? Right now I'm using manual transfer - am I missing out on anything? Thanks!
    iPod Nano 4GB

First, make sure that your iPod is connected to your computer so you'll also have iPod preferences to play with, then open iTunes preferences:
Windows users—On the Edit menu, click Preferences.
Under the iPod pane, you can keep it set to automatic and select the "Only update checked songs" checkbox if you want iTunes to only copy songs that have a check mark next to them in the iTunes library song list pane or select Manually manage songs & playlists.

  • How do I manually move a playlist from new iTunes to ipod classic?

My iTunes just updated itself. Now the screen looks totally different. I want to manually move a playlist from the new iTunes to my iPod classic. It worked perfectly yesterday, but now that that the iTunes updated, the page doesn't show my iPod so I can't manually move the playlist to the iPod.

    Hi Carol,
    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like you're running into an issue syncing music to your iPod classic since updating iTunes because of the way it looks now. You can make iTunes look more like the previous version by showing the Sidebar, as described in the article below.
iTunes 11 for Windows: Customize the iTunes window
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH12364
    Choose View > Show Sidebar.
The Sidebar replaces the Library menu, the Devices button, and the iTunes Store button. To return to the default view, choose View > Hide Sidebar.
And, this article provides a detailed walkthrough for syncing content to your iPod.

    I hope this helps.

  • How do I transfer my Playlists from one PC to another?

    Hello,
I recently updated my PC but have a large collection of music on my old lap top that I wish to transfer.
while I was sucessful transfering the music I have yet to figure out how to transfer my playlists?
    Any help would be appreciated?
    Thanks

These are two possible approaches that should work to move the existing library to a new computer.
    Method 1
Backup the library with this User Tip.
Restore the backup to your new computer using the same tool used to back it up.
Deauthorize the old computer if you no longer want to access protected content on it.
Keep your backup up-to-date in future.
    Method 2
Connect the two computers to the same network. Share your <User's Music> folder from the old computer and copy the entire iTunes library folder into the <User's Music> folder on the new one. Again, deauthorize the old computer if no longer required.
Both methods should give the new computer a working clone of the library that was on the old one. As far as iTunes is concerned this is still the "home" library for your devices so you shouldn't have any issues with iTunes wanting to erase are reload.
I'd recommend method 1 since it establishes an ongoing backup for your library.
Should you be in the unfortunate position where your computer has died with no backup then see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device.

  • HT1727 how do i transfer itunes playlists on my mac to a thumb drive to use in my car       e in my car?

How do i transfer itunes playlists and/or individual songs onto a thumb drive on my apple desktop computer -- I want to play the songs in my car which requires the thumb drive.  thanks

Easily done.  Insert the flash drive into your computer, and open it so it looks like a folder.  In iTunes, highlight the tracks you want (or use CTRL+A to highlight an entire list at once) and drag them into that open folder.
If you normally run iTunes in full-screen mode, make it smaller so that you can do the drag.
The only complication may be the format.  Many iTunes users use AAC format, which is rejected by many car players.  If that is an issue, you can first use iTunes to convert the songs to the more convenient MP3 format, by this guide:
