Does iPhone record when sound is manually turned off via the external side switch? Enquiring minds want to know.

Are you asking if the phone logs when someone mutes it? No, I don't believe so. Or, are you asking if audio recording apps still record when the phone is muted? Why don't you use the included VoiceMemo app and test it?
    Best of luck.

  • HT201415 Disconnects from Wifi or have to manually turn off and turn back on to connect

I have an iPhone 4 that sometimes will loose wifi connection. Cellular data is turned off and all data is restricted to wifi only. Will work for a while and then load slowly or not at all. Have to manually turn off wifi and then turn back on to get it to work again. After a while this process keeps happening. All other devices in the home including PS3, Wii, and my other iPhone 3GS do not have any issues. Only the IPhone 4 has this disconnecting issues or totally does not detect the wifi at all sometimes. Please help!

Is this on all WiFi networks, or only your home network? If it's the home network try rebooting your router by turning it off for a few seconds. In either case go to Settings/General/Reset - Reset network settings. You will not lose any data, but will have to re-enter your WiFi encryption passcodes.

  • S7000 2.1 speaker don't wake up after sleep. Needs manual turn off and back on - Frustrating!

The speakers seem to go to sleep after about 10 minutes of no use (because you're authoring a document for 15 minutes with no audio/video playing). Now, you want to play some audio/video, the speakers don't automatically wake up! You have to manually turn them off and turn them back on. No speaker system in my history ever needs this manual on/off! Very frustrating!!! Please give me a workaround or fix. Ready to return speakers if I don't have a solution. Just bought and installed them 2 days back and already quite frustrated.

I am having the same exact problem. Here is an excerpt from my system log when the freeze occurs.
At 1-31 11:00:07 I open the lid. About a minute later I have to do a hard restart because the desktop will not come up. The Caps Lock and Num Lock keys both respond to input, so I have no idea what is going on here.

  • Manually turning off iMac G5 Display

    Hi,
I've been searching around and haven't been able to find an answer to this.
I have my computer set to turn on the screen saver after 5 minutes of inactivity and turn off the display after 15 minutes of inactivity, and I like it that way. My computer is in my bedroom though, and sometimes I want the display to just shut off when I am going to sleep... but sometimes, I am working on something that takes the computer a while to process, such as exporting a large final cut file, burning a DVD, or leaving an away message enabled on AIM. I don't want to put the entire computer to sleep, because that stopps the process... and I don't want to wait 15 minutes for my display to shut off... and I don't want to change the Energy Saver settings every single time I want the display off!
Is there any way to do this?
Is there a script of somekind that can do this?
I'm familiar with the Apple-Option-Eject command, but that puts the entire computer to sleep, not just the screen.
I've also tried the "Lights Out" app... but that program doesn't do what I want. It's basically a different version of energy saver.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks so much.

Open the Script Editor in the /Applications/AppleScript/ folder and paste in the following:
display dialog "What type of sleep do you want?" buttons {"Display", "Full", "Cancel"} default answer "An administrator password is required."
    set {the_password, the_button} to {text returned of the result, button returned of the result}
    if the_button is "Full" then
do shell script "pmset -a displaysleep 0 sleep 15" password the_password with administrator privileges
    end if
    if the_button is "Display" then
do shell script "pmset -a displaysleep 1 sleep 0" password the_password with administrator privileges
    end if
Changing the power management settings through a method other than the Energy Saver pane of System Preferences requires an administrator password due to the permissions on the files which store them. Save the script as an application and place it in an easily accessible location. More information on the usage of pmset is available here.

  • Mobile network automatically starting when manually turned off

I am travelling and have turned off Mobile Network and data services (i.e., no roaming plan). Somehow the phone started to dial phone number (pocket dial?) and Mobile Network services automatically activated (i.e., Z10 decided to turn Mobile Neywork on). I turn this off on purpose and need the Mobile Network to stay off to avoid extreme charges from the phone company. The same issue happened on my last international trip and I had a large charge that, until this point, I was unable to explain. I use OS 10.2 .
Any guidance on how to keep the Mobile Network setting at "off" are appreciated.

THE TOP RESET BUTTON ON MY PHONE IS EITHER JAMMED OR DUSFUNCTIONAL, CAN ANYONE TELL ME A WAY TO TURN MY PHONE OFF WITHOUT HAVING TO HOLD THAT DOWN?
PLEASE HELP ME WITH THIS, ITS IMPORTANT THAT I BE ABLE TO DO THIS!

There is a way to put the iphone in "Sleep", or "standby" mode by going into settings and turning auto lock on.
After a minute, the phone will lock and go into sleep mode.
    - You can still make and receive calls as well.
    - This lasts for 250 hours on your battery just in sleep mode.
    Hope that helps

  • K7n2 - have to manually turn off

Just installed the k7n2 board and just can not figure out how to have the system power off without having to use the switch.  This happens when I try to restart from the BIOS or windows, or shutdown.  any help is appreciated!

thank you for your suggestions!  while I do not understand all of the suggestions from sagia, I was able to switch the powerdown registry setting from 0 to 1
I do not have any usb devices hooked up, and ACPI was enabled on windows install, which is the default...
the thing that makes me think it is not a windows-thing is that i have to manually use the reset switch to restart even when exiting the BIOS - it should automatically reboot, right?  could I have a wire in the wrong spot?
    thanks for your help, tim

  • Manually turned off notifications for Mail & Facetime, now  can not re-activate

I originally worked with Bob Seufert to solve a No incoming Email Alert that was a result of my 'Fat fingering' the the 'Do not Disturb' icon while closing the Control Center.  We worked out that all incoming mail provided both the preset email alert plus a badge when my iPad was in Standby mode (not in use).  Now after activating the Do Not Disturb icon to not alert me of email or Facetime during night hours, I used the Do Not Disturb icon in the Control Center  to r-enotify me of incoming mail and Facetime by Sund Alrert. But as the day wore on , I found that the ntification was not working.  I have gone through all the stes Bob had recommended to make sure nothing had changed and performed a reset.
Would someone else have an idea what I may have pushed incore=rectly?

Bob, As usual, you came to my rescue again.  Now your weekend will be free of me not bothering you.
I will investigate the Table of Content in the IOS 7 book's Table of Contents.  I felt the My iPad book was a good reference book for beginners, but I am finding it is not a guide for troubleshooting or explaining certain features such as PUSH, etc, the definition of the characters in the Control Center You said that I can set those features for my email accounts.  In Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars>Fetch New Data, the email Accounts are listed with PUSH, FETCH or MANUAL.  IF the email account is already set to PUSH, you can only change it to FETCH , MANUAL or PUSH, but if email account is set to FETCH, The only options available are FETCH and MANUAL.  I do not not know of any other location where I can set those options and I know it is not an option when setting up a new account.  I was looking for the set up steps in the IOS 7 and My iPad book

  • How do I turn off autoswitching to a new tab???

When I select "Open in a new tab" in IE, the browser automatically switches to the new tab.  I *HATE* this behavior as I like to open multiple news stories and then read them one at a time.
I have already unchecked the option Internet Options--Tabs--Settings--Always Switch to New Tabs....
This does nothing.  The current default behavior is a deal-breaker as it is massively anti-productive.
    Please Help!

    Always state your Internet Explorer version (e.g., IE8; IE9; IE10; IE11) as well as your full Windows version (e.g., WinXP SP3; WinXP 64-bit SP2; Vista 32-bit SP1; Vista 64-bit SP2; Win7 32-bit; Win7 64-bit SP1; Win8 32-bit; WinRT; Win RT 8.1; Win8.1
64-bit) when posting in a forum.  Please do so in your next reply.

  • Impossible to turn off GPU fan on GTX 770?

The fan on my GPU is annoying and I'd like to turn it off completely.
I've secured that there's a good air flow and temperature in my case, and as I'm not gaming these months, it should be okay to turn off the GPU fan.
I tried using MSI Afterburner, but you can't set the fan speed any lower than 26% of max. fan speed.
This is the GTX 770 I have:
    MSI GeForce GTX770 OC 2GB
    N770-2GD5/OC
I tried disabling this graphics card in my OS (Windows 7 Prof. 64 bit), but the GPU fan was still running.
Is there no other way than to remove the graphics card completely?
    Hope someone can help
    Best,
    Henrik
    Denmark

It is not possible to turn off the fan via software as the vga's firmware will ensure that it is running at least at minimum speed to seed up when needed. GTX770 unlike new Maxwell gpus should also be too hot to be cooled passively with the standard heatsink. If you want to stop the fans none the less you need to unplug them from the pwm header of the card. As the card couldn't start the fans at dangerous temps then it would be quite risky. Note that not only the gpu but also vrms might overheat.

  • SPA122 - How to turn off "DHCP Option To Use" in the Provisioning tab using the XML configuration file?

As default, SPA122 and SPA112 have DHCP Options 66, 160, 159 and 150 turned on.
Our pre-provisioning process includes adding our default profile rule to our provisioning server for the device to pull its configuration files once the device has been added to an account.
However, it seems like some customers have had problems with the device downloading the definite configuration file and manually turning off option Option 66 in the provisioning tab in the device solves this issue.
Is there any option we could add to our pre-provisioning file so that it removes 66 from the "DHCP Option to Use" field in the provisioning tab?
    Please advise...

    Thanks Dan,
I didn't know the dhcp server could serve different options to different classes of clients, I'll have to look that up!
    Moises
so if your provisioning file has this line below (this is from a spa5xx config I had in my temp folder, so use the line from your provisioning file, or use the SPC tool to create a new default config for that device type)
    <DH<DHCP_Option_To_Use group="Provisioning/Configuration_Profile">66,160,159,150,60,43,125</DHCP_Option_To_Use>
    change it to
    <DH<DHCP_Option_To_Use group="Provisioning/Configuration_Profile">160,159,150,60,43,125</DHCP_Option_To_Use>
    Hope it helps,

  • 5800 GPRS turns off too late...

Hi guys, I have a problem with my Nokia 5800 (Firmware 20+).
here in dubai, my Provider (etisalat) doesn't support Dual mode (GPRS and Calling at the same time).
I have Nokia messaging service enabled on the phone and receive my emails just fine. (except for the Famous no notification on the homescreen)
Now everytime I want to make a call, I need to manually turn off the GPRS connection so that I can make a call at all or send SMS as well...
Apperantly my phone DOES disable the GPRS but only AFTER the call has already been established... which results in a dismissed outgoing call by my provider.
Is there any way I can change the order in which my phone does the pause? Currently what my phone does is as follows:
    1) establish call
    2) disable GPRS
    3) my call get's dismissed by provider message
    4) Call ends
    5) GPRS reenables
Is there a way to disable the GPRS BEFORE the call is established?
Thank you so much in advance for the support!
Best Wishes and hoping for a quick reply soon,
    -Alex

I want to turn off GPRS always on 5800. Possible?

  • Time-based turning off of bluetooth keyboard

I'm using an Apple bluetooth keyboard with my iMac. If I forget to manually turn off the keyboard, the batteries in it drain 20% overnight. Is there no setting that says: Turn off the keyboard if there's no activity for 5 minutes? I notice that Windows 7 allows me to do this, even for my Apple keyboard (since I'm running W7 on my mac). Thanks.

No, there's no announcement when it sleeps, only when it connects/disconnects.
    Here is Apple's description:
The Apple Wireless Keyboard requires just two AA batteries — one less than the previous model. And its intelligent power management system conserves battery life. So when you’re not using the keyboard, it automatically powers down. The instant you start typing, it turns back on. Use the on/off switch when you're away from your computer for a long time.
