  • IPod Mini problems with 2nd computer (Manual Updating)

The laptop I had been using to update my IPod Mini now doesn't let me use ITunes (firewall issues). So, I am now using a desktop.
On the desktop, I have installed ITunes and IPod Updater. The connection seems to be working fine because my Ipod was updated.
I purchased a few songs on ITunes and they will not download onto the IPod. I have it set for manual update (so not to lose all of my other music!) and am clicking and dragging. Yet, when I check my IPod's screen, no new music.
Under File, "Update IPod" is in grey and is not an active option for me to select.
What am I doing wrong? How do I get the new songs on my IPod?

keep us posted on the desktop. we have a number of techniques for getting itunes to open if it's being interfered with by security software.
In the meantime, I just emailed tech support about Deauthorizing that laptop. Do you think that could be my problem?
good point. try playing those songs for a few seconds in itunes on the laptop. (sometimes itunes doesn't realise that they are authorised until you do that.)
do they drag to the ipod properly then?

  • Cannot delete songs from iPod when in manual update mode

    Hi
I am using iTunes 7 and i'm trying to delete some songs just from my iPod and i have always used the manual update option.
The problem is when i go into the songs on my iPod and go into a playlist and try to delete the songs within a playlist it won't let me. BUT when i search for those same songs within my iPod library (library shows all songs on the iPod) i can delete them.
So my problem is i cannot delete songs within playlists just from my iPod. I know that deleting the playlist on the left hand side navigation bar will still keep the songs there, it will only delete the actual playlist.
Also when i select a song(s) the edit menu is all greyed out except for copy.
    Can anyone help please.

Try using the key combination Shift-Delete when deleting from a song from a playlist, this will delete it from the library as well.

Need Adobe help to solve this. My own searches in Forums and Google all have failed.

It is not an Adobe problem. You have a OS permissions problem. You can try to correct this by using Disk Utility to Repair Permissions. It is in the First Aid area of Disk Utility.

  • Drivers / update problems on X230T

    1. My UltraNav (Synaptics) TouchPoint and TouchPad work only until I log in to Windows (7 Pro x64).  Telephone support suggested (after I got disconnected 3 times) that I use LSC to reinstall the driver, but I find no way to reinstall drivers in LSC.
    2. LSC and Device Manager report a problem with a "Base System Device", but I find no further identifying information in the device properties, and Windows Update fails to locate an appropriate driver.
Presumably this is the related error (as seen in msinfo32):
29.05.2013 17:40    Windows Error Reporting    Fault bucket , type 0
Event Name: PnPDriverNotFound

...
There are many other error reports with the same fault bucket type, stretching back to my first commissioning of the laptop.
    3. LSC shows no corresponding alerts, but the installation history in TVSU 5.02.0011 reports one package that  "did not install" and one which "did not download".  I was able to find these on the lenovo support page and download them, however, the second (Ericsson F5521 Mobile Broadband Driver) reported "Device driver software was not successfully installed"  and specifically "Base system device - No driver found".  Presumably this is the missing driver from 2  above.  Despite the error message, the installation still demands a reboot.  I have found an additional driver for the Ericsson F5521 on the lenovo support site and will attempt to install it after rebooting.
P.S. The second driver reported  successful installation, and, when subsequently reinstalled, so did the first one.
Unfortunately, the problem with the missing driver for "Base System Device" in Device Manager persists.
Furthermore, since installing the Ericsson drivers, I get a crash report from MobileAccess.exe every time I start the computer.
P.P.S. going back to 1 above, uninstalling the UltraNav driver (from Device Manager) did not help.  I had to uninstall *and* check "delete driver software.  On the next restart, an earlier driver (16.1.1.0) was installed, which works.
Based on the HW ID, the mysterious "Base System Device" would appear to be the SD/MMC card reader.  I found a driver (2.14.18.01) on the lenovo support site and will report back the results of my installation attempt after rebooting.
P.P.P.S.  Unfortunately, the driver installation did not resolve this.  Seeing that the Ericsson driver ahd been installed under "smart card reader", I uninstalled it, deleting the SW, but that didn't help either.  A manual update of the driver for "Base System Device", pointing it at the driver which had been unpacked in C:\SWTOOLS\DRIVERS\multicard\Driver was also unhelpful.  Then I saw this post, and noticed that the HW IDs in risdxc.inf did not match those shown in Device Manager.  I have edited the file and reinstalled, acknowledging the "unsigned driver" warning, which presumably resulted from my tampering with the file.  I will report back after rebooting.
    P.P.P.P.S.  I no longer get any complaints about "Base System Device", and even though I can't find the Ricoh SD/MMC card reader in Device Manager, the card reader seems to work.  Now all I have to do is to reinstall the Ericsson driver ;-}
P.P.P.P.S. After reinstalling the Ericsson driver, LSC shows a clean bill of health.  However, MobileAccess.exe is still crashing on system start.  Since this page (the only one I could find on Mobile Access) does not mention Switzerland, and since I didn't  get a SIM card from lenovo, I am just disabling startup in msconfig for the time being.  I could have sworn getting it to run immediately after installing the Ericsson SW, and seeing a drop-down list in the Activation Wizard offering Swisscom as provider though !?  Go figure.
    X320T running Windows 8 Pro x64

To get the Ricoh driver installed properly, I had to edit risdxc.inf and reinstall again.
There seem to be 2 HW IDs associated:
    PCI\VEN_1180&DEV_E822&SUBSYS_220317AA
    and
    PCI\VEN_1180&DEV_E823&SUBSYS_220317AA
However, since updating the X230T drivers, my BlackBerry Desktop Software (7.1.0.41) no longer sees my BlackBerry, so I can no longer sync it locally.
The Ericsson adapter seems to be working, even though MoibileAccess.exe isn't. I could get a connection using the Swisscom SIM card out of my BlackBerry.
In retrospect, I should probably have ordered a SIM card from lenovo, as it appears that would have given me 3 months of free mobile WAN via Swisscom. Unfortunately, Switzerland was not listed on the lenovo website as one of the countries in which the offer was available.
I would still be grateful for any hints as to what is wrong with MobileAccess.exe and how to fix it.

  • Playlist update problems

As a premium member I expect my Spotify playlists to update on a weekly basis as it is suposed to work but that hasn't happened.  I have the Top 100 Hip Hop tracks by Spotify playlist and it hasn't updated since 4/6/15.  I am not really sure why this occurs but as a paying member one should be able to manually update a playlist if it fails to do so on its own.  If Spotify is to get any more of my money they had better fix this.  I see many have these sorts of issue and it's just sad because from what I read around the internet is that this has been a problem since 2012.  Fix it already.  Get some real support for paying customers as well.  From a happy but disappointed subscriber.  (If any Spotify employees actually read these).

I am so disappointed.  I paid for 3 months of service to give it another try and my playlist still does not update weekly like its supposed to.  This is a playlist labeled as " Top 100 Hip Hop Tracks on Spotify".  it is by Spotify, I would be embarassed about that.  You would figure that that playlist would update as intended since you folks are hosting it.  This playlist still has not updated since 4/6/15.  I could maybe even see this happening to a free subscriber but for a paying subscriber this is unexceptable.  It does not seem to be something you guys can get under control either since I see all over the place online that this seems to be a common problem with playlists.  When I pay for a service I expect it to work properly.  The playlist updated correctly twice and then just stopped updating.  I really wish someone would take this a bit more serious and get it fixed.  I must say that when my 3 months run out if its still not working then I will not use the service any longer.  I am not going to pay for something that does not work correctly.  I expected more to be done with this issue the first time I posted about this.

  • Loads using DTP - manual update possible?

    Hi,
I have a question regarding loads done using DTP in BW 7.0.
In 3.X loads using infopackages, sometimes a data package will get runtime errors such as DBIF_RSQL_SQL_ERROR (deadlocks). Usually, we would change the status to red and do a manual update of the affected data package in the data load monitor.
However, I cannot find this option for DTP and I have to reload the whole request even only 1 data package has failed because of the SQL error. Does anyone know how to repair this in a DTP load?
Any help will be appreciated, thanks in advance!

    Hi CK,
Not found a way of doing this at current but I know where you are coming from, you're thinking of the old set manual status or even try a sm58 and trigger the idocs.  If a DTP fails you might have the option of using the error stack but only if this has been configured.  A failed load will prompt you to do this.  Other ways of trying to fix the SQL errors are to check what the SQL problems are, most of our problems have been tablespace issues, etc.
Daily monitoring by basis/bw admin should sort these.
    Cheers,
    Pom

  • Replication hub update problem with fractional replication

I have a deployment with two DSEE 6.3 instances set in traditional MMR mode (ie. default replication settings, no fractional replication or such like non default replication configuration), on two different (RHEL 4.x) hosts.
Moreover, I have a third directory instance on a third host (RHEL 5.X) running ODSEE 11gR1. One of the DSEE 6 master is set for fractional replication,
all attributes but userpassword and another user-defined attribute are replicated. Due to fractional replication limitations, the ODSEE instance is configured
as a hub, since I want to be able to manually populate and update both "unreplicated" attributes on the ODSEE instance, without having those updates to be propagated to the DSEE 6 instances.
The problem is that in spite I try to ldapmodify the ODSEE instance with the default replication account (cn=replication manager,cn=replication,cn=config),
I'm returned an LDAP 10 (LDAP referral) error.
As a workaround, I found that adding a "full rights access for replication manager" aci, and then modifying the nsslapd-state attribute of the ODSEE replica before
a manual update works fine but looks complicated.
I used to be able to update a DSEE 6 (or previous versions) non master instance thanks to the replication account without problem so I'd like to know what's
the best practice with ODSEE, to do what I want to do, since using the replication account seems "complicated" and not recommanded anyway, according to the admin guide.

    Ok, thanks for clarifying.
So I would check two things:
    1) Can pam_unix and Google authenticate against the Directory if the password is stored in clear?
    2) If the password is stored in clear on a master, and the password storage scheme is SHA or crypt on a remote replica, does the password replicate to the remote replica in the correct hash?
If (1), you could consider setting the storage scheme to clear. It's less secure, but it might be a workable solution to a bad situation.
If (2), you could consider expanding your topology by setting the password storage scheme to clear on your masters and allocating distinct replicas for Google and UNIX, each with the appropriate password storage scheme.
If this all seems suboptimal to you, I agree wholeheartedly. This is not a use case that the Directory deals with well, in part because applications are not supposed to authenticate by retrieving a password string and doing an out-of-band comparison. When applications do this, they bypass the standard LDAP BIND process, i.e., the protocol mechanism that standards-based LDAP password policies use for all their policy enforcement and notification. In general, if an application doesn't BIND to authenticate, it forgoes one of the major benefits of the LDAP protocol and information model.
More to the point, there can only be one password storage scheme for a given entry, because there can only be one password policy for a given entry. Applications that impose a requirement on the specific storage scheme are bad, as are applications that impose a specific requirement on the DIT, because, like the DIT, there can only be one storage scheme. One application that imposes such requirements can be tolerated of course, but once you have two such applications, each with conflicting requirements, you are in trouble.

  • Cache update problem in Integration Directory

    Hi all,
We have a cache update problem in our PI development server.
If we try to edit, save and activate any of the ID objects, under Cache notifications>Central Adapter Engine> all these objects are displayed as gray items.
    We have tried:
    1. Clearing the SLD Data Cache.
    2. Did SXI_CACHE complete refresh.
    3. Did CPA cache refresh.
    4. Did a complete cache refresh of the server.
    5. Restarted the server.
But still the problem has not bee resolved. Could you pls provide your inputs and resolution points.
    Thank you very much.
    regards,
    Jack Nuson

    HI Jack ,
first try to manually update the cache from ID select on your cache notifiaction and click on delta cache refresh button and refresh button .IF it does not yied any result then
Perform a full cache refresh using the URL
http://<host>:<port>/CPACache/refresh?mode=full . If the cache refresh happens properly then your problem will get resolved other wise you have to see the cache log to view why it failed there it will show you the exact reason . You might need to restart your java server also if the problem persist .

  • Clarification on manual updating....

I just want to make sure I'm clear on this before I do something and lose all my songs. I've loaded all of my cds onto my iPOD (close to 6000 songs). My wife thinks that having so many tunes in iTUNES is slowing down our computer. In the name of domestic tranquility I'd like to clear itunes out.
My understanding is that I can switch my preferences to manually update and then safely remove all of these songs from itunes. I can then add future cds to the ipod manually.
Is this correct or am I missing something vital that's going to result in my losing all of the songs off of the ipod the first time I plug it in.
    Thanks all....

    "Is this correct"
Yes it is correct, but may I add a note of caution please?
This is an extremely risky option because when (and not if) there comes a time to restore your iPod, which is a very common fix for iPod problems, then all the music would be erased. If you no longer have the music in iTunes (or any other back up), then all that music would be lost.
What if the iPod were lost/stolen/needed repair? Again, the music would lost. I strongly recommend a back up, and if computer hard drive space is in short supply, you should seriously consider an external hard drive. They are not expensive, and the cost is well worth it when compared to the loss of all your precious music.
At the very least back up your music to either cd or dvd before deleting it, particularly any purchased music/videos, as this would have to be bought again if it were lost. See this.
Backing up your media in iTunes.
Please excuse the sermon, but we see far too many people lose their music because of no back up.

  • Manually updating iPod on seperate comp

Question, can I update my iPod with songs on a comp that is not my home one? I selected 'Manual Update', but if it'll still delete my songs that aren't in the Library, I don't wanna do anything. If the songs get deleted, I'll be in big trouble, cause I'm far away from home, and I still have a month left til I get back. I'm guessing that 'Manual Update' won't affect any of my current songs, but I just want some assurance.
    Thanks -
    J4mmer

as long it is in manual update mode before you plug it in, you will be fine. it will not delete any of your songs if it is in manual. you will be able to drag and drop files into your ipod without any problems.

  • Installation Problems, Permissions Problems, SW Update Problems, Solved

I'm posting here to relate some problems I've had and how I ultimately solved them, in the hope that it might help somebody.
The following relates to OS 10.5.4 on an imac PPC 1.8.
It started (at least the first symptom I noticed was) with Super Duper not working to auto-clone my drive, because the first thing SD does before running a clone job is to repair permissions on the subject drive. The repair permissions task failed with "the underlying task failed" error.
So I tried the manually repair permissions from Disk Utility and got the same "the underlying task failed" error. It's a bit alarming not to be able to repair permissions. I tried a reboot, no change. This persisted for at least a week as I didn't have time to aggressively go after it.
Then I purchased DiskWarrior (again - owned it years ago in Sys 9 days), as in my experience that was the "if all else fails" fix for everything directory-related. I booted from another blessed drive (do people still say that anymore? lol, showing my age) and ran DW on the drive in question. Sure enough DW found and fixed about 150 problems. Great I think, reboot from the original drive, run Disk Utility, repair permissions...nope! Same error. What now? I checked the console installer log for more and all the errors looked like "failure to write" permission type errors. Grr.
Verify Disk ran OK. I checked the SMART status and it was OK, as I was by now worrying about the physical drive.
Then along comes the 10.5.5 incremental update in Software Update and I get the following error: "The Installer could not install some files in "/" check permissions". Doh! Same thing with the Java update. Since I can't repair permissions I'm stuck.
So now I have only one course of action (well maybe there were others, but this is what I did) which was to do an Archive and Install. My OS X DVD is 10.5.0 so that is what I got of course when I reinstalled.
Running Disk Utility after the A&I allowed me to repair permissions successfully. Some progress. But now I had a slew of updates to get back to the present version of everything. Most installed successfully, except the 10.5.5 combo update. For that I got "package contents could not be validated". Rats.
So I decided (after reading here about SW update problems especially with combos) to manually download the 10.5.5 combo. For some reason running SW Update under 10.5.0 gave me download rates of 32kb/s, where I am used to 1.1MB/s. Projected download time 3 hrs....no way! So I booted back to my 10.5.4 clone and downloaded the 612MB at normal speed there. I downloaded the 10.5.1 incremental as well just in case.
Finally I was able to run the 10.5.5 combo (manually downloaded) successfully. Check Disk Utility and repair permissions...all good. Run SW Update and get the Java update, all good.
    Deep breath. Phew.
So there you have it. I was able to fix it all. I probably didn't need to buy DW (but it's so great I'm ok with that) as I conclude now that the A&I ultimately was the real fix. It was a very frustrating experience though, especially with SW update giving me a bad download.
I'm hoping that this post might now show up in searches and help somebody out there.
    Cheers
    G

I don't think you have either of those kernels... as they don't exist.  I assume you meant that you are using 3.10.5 and supposedly have 3.10.6 installed.  You issue is a bit of a catch 22, as you are unable to mount the ESP (no vfat module matching your running kernel), yet mounting the ESP would be required in order to properly udpate.  I imagine that you actually have the correct kernel as /boot/vmlinuz-linux.  But whatever mechanism you use to copy it from that location to the ESP didn't work.
You are going to have to boot from live media, and fix this from a chroot.  Please search around for how to do this, as this information is all over the place.
Looks like I'm in for a treat. I chroot-ed, did a full upgrade in case there was an even newer kernel (and there was, 3.10.7). After the upgrade I copied /boot/vmlinuz-linux, /boot/initramfs-linux.img and /boot/initramfs-linux-fallback.img to /boot/efi/EFI/arch/ renaming the files vmlinuz-arch.efi, initramfs-arch.img, initramfs-arch-fallback.img respectively. I unmounted everything and rebooted. Now reFINd freezes as soon as it tries to boot Arch.

  • Manually Updating Library Help

Hi. I just figured out how to update my ipod from my iTunes manually by the preferences option. But after that- when I plug my ipod to my computer by the USB cable, my ipod won't show up in the iTunes Sources. Can someone please tell me how to manually update my library to my ipod from there? Thanks.

    Sorry, a patch driver?
And yes, I'm using a Windows XP.
The problem is that my ipod will not show up in itunes at all after I put on the manual update option. After that, I can update it from the file bar or even change it back from the preferences. So I'm stuck...

Is there a way where we do not have to manually update the names? we update the company names in UCWB > Master Data > Consolidation Units > Company

Dan is right to be cautious, i've seen this cause problems.
It's not very difficult to make the chnages in BCS, and if you have a lot of them/frequent changes, you can always use create an upload method
