Manual vs Auto Transitions

If I want to automate the application of default transitions between numerous clips into a sequence, I can highlight the clips and drag them to the Automate To Sequence icon, make my transition selections (overlay edit) and it is done.  This process will apply the transitions on original unedited clips without handles and without repeating frames.  Thus the auto sequence process must create the handles (that were not a part of the original clip) and apply the transitions without repeating frames.   However, if I were to manually insert the same unedited original clips without handles into a sequence, select all the clips, then choose Sequence > Apply Transitions to Selection...   the process will NOT create the handles necessary to apply the transitions without repeating frames.  Default transitions will be applied but WITH repeated frames.....
Is there some method to set up the In and Out handles ahead of time for unedited clips that would automate the manually method of applying transitions?  I am assuming repeating frames are bad and it is quite tedious and time consuming to manually create handles at the end and beginning of numerous frames prior to manually applying a transition...   I am using PP CS5.5 and working with AVCHD m2ts files.   Thanks
Greg

Hi Greg, I think I have read this correctly. You cannot expect transitions to to be able to make up frames that are not there, so instead they use duplicates of Early or late frames from that clip and preceeding clip to fill the transition timescale.
If your clips have unused frames before and after the in and out points then the transition effect will use those clips as opposed to repeating clips. Try a little experiment by starting a new project and add one clip with NO handles from the source monitor (ie no in point or out point Use the entire file) Then set some in and out points and see the difference. Just a little bit of experimenting in another project works wonders and keeps it simple.
I hope I have not mislead you, (but will soon be put into place no doubt if I have) but starting to get a bit bleary eyed now with my own problem in hand.
Regards
Dave.

  • How can I get an image or clip in front of  the first transition with auto transition on?

I have been trying to set up a project using auto transitions.  I cannot get a clip to start before the first transition.  The problem is when I post the project to Smugmug or FaceBook the preview box that appears is black.  I want it to show the first frame of the clip to give an indication of the content of the clip.  The only option seems to be to turn off automatic transitions and manually put them it at each break.
    Any ideas?

What program was the artwork created in and what version of Illustrator are you using? ALWAYS provide this information first so we know what features you have available.
If everything is native Illustrator artwork, then you can probably copy the portion of the paw you want outside the circle and use a PathFinder command to merge that shape with the circle, then put the resultant shape behind the artwork.

I have an older IPOD classic that I'm having trouble getting new purchases from library to IPOD. I use to have a IPOD icon in the source list on the left side of the screen. Now that is all gone. My purchases are coming up as recently purchased but can't figure out how to get them transferred to IPOD.  I also can't find how to confirm setting is for manual not auto sync as the first computer I had blew up and am now using a different one. I haven't had any of these problems prior to the updates.

  • Whats the difference on manual and auto update?

whats the difference? lets say i set on auto update. if i add a new song, video or picture, do i lose the old files from my ipod?

auto means your libary will automatically be your ipod. manual means you could chose songs to be on your ipod.also you could connect your ipod to a friends p/c and download a couple of there songs if you have the manual setting on.

  • Proxy changes back to manual from auto

Proxy settings changes from Auto back to Manual.  How to correct this issue.  Dell support suggest re-installing Windows 8.1; I saw there must be a better/easier fix for this issue!?  Any suggestions???

    Hi,
Are there any domain or OU level GPOs applied? If Proxy setting has been controlled by GPP, then the end user can change the proxy settings back, but after some time or a PC reboot, the proxy settings will revert back to its original settings, you can
contact the domain administrator if you are in a domin environment.
If this is a standalone PC, then another situation is that the system might be infected by some virus which insists changing the settings. perform a security scan to ensure the PC safety.
We can alos change the proxy settings via registry (backup your registry before making any changes on registry)

  • Manual vs. auto update issues....

I had been using "manual update" when syncing my pod to iTunes. I have an external HD and, after adding music to iPod, would just move added music into the external's folder as well. My friend talked me into switching to "auto update"...said it was easier. Well, I tried it last night. Had to wait 4 hours for music to be recopied from HD to pod (why would ALL my music have to be updated? It's already on the iPod), then after that I unplugged pod from Mac to make sure music was updated. It was. Then I adjusted volume settings to music on HD and synched pod back to Mac. It updated.....and I had to wait another 4 hours for music (with new volume settings) to be updated back to my pod! Crap. I'm through with this auto update thing. Don't want to worry about having to wait 4 hours ever time I sync my pod to my computer. Any thoughts?

I have an external HD and, after adding music to iPod, would just move added music into the external's folder as well.
    I'm confused.
You add music to iTunes, sync the iPod and then move the music? Sounds like you are not wanting to fill your internal hard drive.
Why not simply change the location of the iTunes library to your external hard drive? Then you simply add the songs to iTunes and your done.
Read this -> iTunes: Moving your iTunes Music folder
Then I adjusted volume settings to music on HD and synched pod back to Mac.
When you change your music files, it will reload the changed music files back to the iPod.
When automatically syncing, it shouldn't reload everything everytime.
It will load new files added to iTunes since the last iPod update. It will reload any files that have been changed (as above.) It sync some of the info (last played, ratings, etc) but this should only take a few seconds.
Don't know why it's taking 4 hours either.
Try changing the library location and see how long it takes.

  • Manually Adjust Auto-Correct

Oftentimes, when I'm typing a name, or even a word that actually is a word but Snow Leopard doesn't recognize it, the word changes into something that I don't want. Is there a way for me to access all the corrections and disable the ones I don't want? I know that the Text tab in Language & Text in System Preferences allows me to add custom auto-corrects, but there are a bunch built into the system that I don't want. For instance, I was typing the name "Shapiro", but it auto-corrected it into "Shaper". And sometimes in a long document, I have to manually go through and check everything instead of just a find and replace, for those times when I actually want the corrected word.

  • Manually copying / Auto-sync.

    Hi Everyone,
I just wanted to double-check on something. I want to manually copy music from iTunes to the iPod. I found the directions on how to do that, but I'm concerned about one thing. The directions start by telling me to connect the iPod to the laptop first. When I do this, won't it automatically begin to synchronize and delete stuff off the iPod first? Or will it prompt me before it does anything? Just trying to be extra-cautious. Thank you in advance for any assistance.
    Regards,
    --- Gary

The directions assume that you are going to change to manual before making any changes to your iTunes or before connecting to a different computer. If you have deleted anything in the meantime and you have your iPod set to auto it will erase what you took off. If you are connecting to your own computer it will not give you a prompt as it recognises this as the home library.
However you can use a keyboard command to prevent your iPod auto-syncing with iTunes. While connecting the iPod to the computer on Windows hold down the Shift + Ctrl keys (on a Mac hold down the Option and Command (⌥ and ⌘) keys). This will stop the iPod from auto-syncing with iTunes and the iPod will appear in the source list. Wait until you are sure the iPod has mounted, and that it will not auto sync and then you can let the keys go. This may take between 20 to 30 seconds depending on your computer. Then go to Edit> Preferences>iPod and check the "Manually manage songs and playlists" box.
If you are changing to manual because you want to connect to a different computer it's a different story. If your iPod is set to update automatically take care when connecting to a different computer and iTunes. If it is set to automatically update you will get a message that your iPod is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press *No*. Pressing "Yes" will irretrievably remove all existing songs from your iPod. Your iPod should appear in the iTunes source list from where you can change the update setting to manual and use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it: Using iPod with Multiple computers

  • Manual switch Auto Attendant

    Hello,
When an incoming call hits the UC, I want to switch manually (button or code) what it does.
Normally during day the calls go to the Auto Attendant.
During night there is a message.
During the break there is another message.
And they want to have also 2 other messages they want to use in other cases.
Is it possible to resolve this problem with a script of some kind?
If not I need to let the call come in on a phone and set the phone in call-forward to the AA or different voicemail boxes through floating extensions.
    Thanks,
    Stephan

    Hello,
This is going to be a little tricky. There is a couple of ways this can be accomplished, but there are some limitations with each method.
You can use the opened/closed hours in the Auto Attendant to change the greetings. The limitation here is that you can't manually switch, only be a schedule.
The alternative, is to use a manual night service configuration to send calls to 2 separate auto attendants. This will allow manual control, but only between 2 messages.
This might be possible with a custom script, but as we don't support custom scripts with UC500s, I couldn't tell if that would work.
    Hope this helps.
    Thanks,
    -john

  • [6D] Handheld Night Shot Mode vs. Manual (or Auto)

    Hi.
I am little bit confused about this "feature". There are no technical explanations how the merging of the four pictures is done. Some quick tests achieved more sharper images using A+ as with the SCN mode.
As no one (or most of the people) can hold their hands completely steady, single images are always shifted so merging them should produce some sort of ghosting effect or unsharp images.
    One quick test:
    SCN: 1/40 F5.6 ISO 12800
    A+;  1/60 F4 ISO 12800
I am not sure if i limited the shutter speed to 1/40 min.
This is only one test in low light but A+ image was much sharper.
Can someone tell me in which particular situation it makes more sense to use the SCN mode? How far does it goes with slower shutter speed?
Thanks I would really appreciate if someone can me clear out on this one.
    Cheers
    Igor

I couldn't find any details on it, so I can only guess what it's doing.  My basic philosophy is: camera auto functions can't do anything that I can't do myself, either through camera settings or in post.  But I have much more control over doing it myself.    I dunno, if the preset function works for you, then use it.  But I wouldn't be surprised if you find it doesn't work as well as doing something yourself.  Seems the nature of these things.
I don't think that Canon has invented some revolutionary new process that allows crisp handheld night shots.  I'd guess that it tries to take four shots above a certain shutter speed (and I would guess around 1/40 to be a limit), and then it stacks them into a single image for exposure calculation. It's a technique used in astrophotography a fair bit, you can do it manually in photoshop or just get a program that does it for you.

  • CS 5.1 - Manual and Auto upgrades not working

I originally posted this in the Camera Raw forum as I had have been trying to upgrade Camera Raw to 6.7 on my windows 7(32) machine running CS5.1. without success.  It now appears that I am not able to carry of any updates in CS5.1 either through the program update routine or by download.  All programs seem to be working fine apart from this.
If I try using Help>Update Adobe Application Manager opens, goes through an apparent download of all the updates but I see little data stream comming in and then staps saying  there is a download problem please try later.
If I dowload the update direct for the Adobe site the download is fine but when I run AdobePatchInstaller.exe to istall say Camera Raw 6.7 Adobe Application Manager opens and thinks for a little whlie before giving  "an error installing the update"
I have tried Adobe support adviser but this was of little help indicating "cpsid_90243r4: Error DW020 or DW050 occurs during installation - Creative Suite 5.5, Flash CS5.5, Flash Builder 4.5" which is apparently an error sometimes seen during initial installation.
Running Photoshop and the updates as administrator does not help.
Anyone any ideas other than a complete reinstall?

Hello! is bridge set to auto-run as your start your user session? this might cause problems. Try disabling that option from its preferences.
    What other programs are running?
What version of ACR are you using for the moment?
Is the install path a non-standard one?

  • Satellite L500 - black screen after manual or auto restart

    Hi everyone,
This has frustrated me for three weeks but I have only just realised it is associated with restart either manual or software requested.
My 6 week old L500 laptop refuses to do other than display lights for indiactors on front - no light on keyboard, no screen, fan running but no disk activity I can hear.
I have somehow managed to break through on three occasions by forcing shut down using the power on/off hold down, removing battery waiting and then starting up.
Earlier today it decided to restart under this method and I was able to quickly jump in and dump my Libraries and outlook.pst to an external hard drive cause my business runs off it.
Anyone know a solution to this problem?
This is the first Toshiba I have ever owned and it's really frustrating to have to fire up this 4 year old Acer to find a solution to my problem.
Maybe the problem is Windows 7 but can't find my way through that place to an answer.
    Anyone, please???

    Hi
You mean the L500 does not boot anymore?
The workaround removing the battery and ac adaptor doesnt help anymore?
Hmm usually this should not happen sometimes the notebook could hang somewhere during the stand by or hibernation and the mentioned workaround could be a option to wake up the unit
Its hard to say whats going wrong here possibly its hardware related issue
So maybe it would be the best get in contact with an local ASP the warranty should be valid and I think everything should be done for free
