Manually added files to library going to wrong location in iPOD

When I DL video podcasts from work and manually add to iTUNES they are going to Movies instead of Video Podcasts.
Even more troublesome is that all podcasts from same site are not listed together in a submenu. This only occurrs when I DL video podcast using iTUNES. As a result I have dozens of videos appearing in 'Movies' instead of their own submenu in Video Podcast.
I have dial-up at home so I DL Podcasts from another location that has high speed to my thumb drive.
iPOD is set to use as mounted drive in my computer (forgot the term)

  • ADDING FILES TO LIBRARY

i'm having a problem adding files. when i try to add more than 3 songs at a time the files won't add to itunes. it only lets me dadd song's 3 at a time. i didn't have this problem till i upgraded to itunes 7. can any one help me out

Use the add folder option. I put the songs I am trying to import into my import queue folder then add the whole folder.

  • Limit on Adding Files to Library?

When trying to add new files to my library, I can select only up to 6 songs at a time. If I select any more, they all get ignored. If I select 6 or less, iTunes processes correctly adds them to the library. Anyone have any suggestions? I don't want to add by folder in this case. Using version 8.0.2.20.

No there is no such option. It always places the file by artist/album. If that is not what you want, you can move the file manually within Windows, but then you have to fix up your iTunes library entry manually as well.

  • Adding files to library-error

i have been having a lot of trouble with itunes 7 lately. i had installed it and it was working fine, then one day it couldn't locate any of the files in my library. i tried uninstalling it and reinstalling it and adding all my music to my library again, and i have most of it in except my largest folder of music. i try to add the folder to my library and it starts adding the songs, then freezes up and a box pops up that says "iTunes has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." and gives me the option to send error report, etc. i clicked on detailed report and it says the following files will be included in this error report:
    C:\DOCUME~1\Owner\LOCALS~1\Temp\WERef7e.dir00\iTunes.exe.mdmp
    C:\DOCUME~1\Owner\LOCALS~1\Temp\WERef7e.dir00\appcompat.txt
does anyone know how to fix this? i have tried rebooting and such and tried clicking the folder and dragging it to my library and i keep getting the same error. thanks for your help.

okay, let's try getting a crash log to the Apple Engineers for a look.
Typically, you'll need to configure Dr. Watson on your PC in order to generate crash logs. Windows start menu -> Run. Type in "cmd". Hit return. At the prompt in the command line window that comes up, type in
    drwtsn32 -i
    And hit return.
This will create crash logs in Documents And Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\Dr Watson\. There'll usually be a file in here called "drwtsn32.log"
prior to collecting the itunes crash log, delete any existing crash logs in there. (we want to make sure we send the correct crash log.)
Generate the crash, collect the crash log, and send it to this email address
    in the email:
    (1) state the precise version number of itunes that you're using. (go into your "Help > About iTunes" to doublecheck.)
    (2) include the URL to this thread so that the person who gets the email has some context, but also give as much information about the context of the crashing as you can.

  • Weird things happening when adding files to library

OK so I just update to the newest itunes, so I am all up to date. My problem is that when I go to add files to the library from a folder on the harddrive, nothing happens. I hold down the shift key and select the songs in the folder I want to add, but it will not add them unless you manualy add EACH FILE one by one!
So I tried to just add the whole folder, but when I do that, it adds each song twice for some reason, so then I have to go through and manualy delete all the duplicates.
This has NEVER been a problem until tonight, if someone has a tip please tell me! I am also getting annoyed with the whole determing gapless playback thing, if someone has a tip to get rid of that, that would also be great. Thanks!

I looked over at Dougscripts.com but didn't find anything.
I think the best you can do is use the comment field for your dates.

  • Why can't I tell video to go to TV Shows when "adding file to library"

Not the end of the world but when I rip my dvd of TV Shows (Nurse Jackie) and I add it or any video file it goes to Movies. How can I direct movies to movies and tv shows to tv shows myself.

Right-click on the file - Get Info - Options - Then set 'Media kind' to TV Shows.
It should then go into your TV Shows folder.

  • Updates going to wrong location

when itunes is updating it tells me there is not enough room, but it is trying to load to drive "k" which doesn't exist. How do I have it load to the right drive? i have my library on my "f" external drive.

    Long shot but try this.
Go to Previous Import in Grid Mode
    Select all [CMD][A]
Go to All Photographs (Previous import files should remain selected)
Set the sort order in the Tool bar to Added Order  (Z to A)
Your previous import should be the large block of selected items at the top.
Scroll to the last selected item and the Previous to the Previous import should be the next file.
Select it and hold down your shift key and down arrow until you reach the end of your Wordpress files
The hard part is knowing how far to go to select the files from there.  Hopefully there is an obvious break that will clue you in.

  • Files in library but won't import to ipod

I have @8200 songs in my itunes library. When I hooked up my new 60G ipod files transfered fine, although my ipod says I have 8194 songs, it is only using up 28G of space (it is using 42G in my library). I found out why. I went to play some songs on my ipod today and it just scans through all of the tracks on the album and then defaults back to the menu. Some songs play...some don't. When I right click on the song in my library and click get info, it has the right directory address and everything. All the songs play fine in my library, just not on my ipod. All of the songs are listed on my ipod, they just won't play. I have tried updating over and over. I have reloaded itunes software. I have tried consolidating library...nothing works. Any suggestions please?

If the skipping songs are purchased iTMS music, then make sure that you have the latest versions of iTunes and the iPod firmware installed. Then authorize the songs by playing one of them for a few seconds.
If the songs are all imported AAC or MP3 files, then it may be an iPod memory management issue.
Restore Your iPod and reload the music back onto the iPod, from your iTunes.
If the Restore & Reload does not work, see: “Strange iPod Behavior within Windows”

  • Why do manually added mp3s in the Podcasts app all show up in the same folder?

    Let me explain!
I like to download lectures and talks and audio books from other sources than iTunes.
I like to add these mp3 files to iTunes, change the Media type of them from Music to Podcast, and transfer them to my iPod Touch. This is so I will more easily know which ones have been listened to and can be removed.
This worked (and works) well in the Music app. Everything was separated into folders based on what album name I had manually assigned to the ID3 tags of the files.
But in the Podcast app, all of these files are now lumped into one folder.
I currently have eight un-listened-to episodes of Philip K. Dick's Valis on my iPod Touch. But the folder shows a count of 106 unheard episodes in relation to this audio book, because it lumps all of my other manually added podcast media tracks into the same folder.
    Why is this?
Why does the Podcasts app refuse to let me separate manually added files into individual folders based on album information?
Had the My Stations feature let me populate its playlists in a more rational manner, and also allowed me to manually change the running order of the tracks (something which only seems to be possible in the On-The-Go playlist), I would not think that this omission was such an annoyance.
I have been searching for months for mentions of this problem, but I have not seen a single one, and so I have finally decided to make my own thread.
Let me know if the nature of my problem remains unclear.
    Joakim

    That doesn't do anything.
When I plug my phone in and attempt to sync it with iTunes and click on "Steven's iPhone" under "Devices" the display to the right just says "loading..." and it stays like that for hours. Nothing happens.
As far as I can tell, there is literally no way for me to delete the photos from my iPhone and I therefore, cannot upgrade to the newest software, download new apps, etc.

  • When I "Add File to Library" it doesn't show up

I never had this problem till I updated to itunes 7. Previous versions I added file to library and it was there right away. I can't seen to add any files to library now. I don't add music from a cd or itunes store, I transfer music from files already on my computer to itunes. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I'm not sure if it would help but have you tried drag and drop into itunes or add folder?

  • An mp3 file on my computer will not import to itunes by either the drag-and-drop or the Add File to Library method.  Can't figure out what I'm doing wrong.  My OS is Windows 7.

I purchased an mp3 from a private website on my laptop.  The itunes library i sync ipod to is on my desktop, so i copied the mp3 onto a flash drive and then into my desktop in the Downloads folder and Desktop folder as well as the itunes music folder, 3 places.  I opened itunes on the desktop and read the instructions for importing music that's already in my computer.  Neither the drag-and-drop or the Add File to Library method works.  I've tried both ways over and over.  Cannot figure out what the problem is.  I do note that the name of the mp3 file doesn't show the .mp3 extension, it appears as simply it's title, Eating Healthy, without any extension at all.  Could the filename be the problem, or do you have any other idea what I'm doing wrong?  My OS is Windows 7, using IE9.  Thanks.
ADDENDUM AFTER READING ANOTHER DISCUSSION HERE:  I have now tried right clicking the song in Windows Explorer and choosing Open With, clicking itunes.  The mp3 plays in itunes but does not add to the library.

I don't have a Recently Added playlist.  However, I discovered that the file I had named Eating Healthy was given the name You Can Enjoy Eating Healthy when it copied to iTunes.  I'm guessing iTunes pulled the full name of the piece from the internet.  Upshot--the mp3 did transfer to iTunes on all 3 tries, but I was looking in my alphabetized list under E, not Y, so I didn't see it there.  Thanks for your help.

  • Need help on adding video files to library

I recently converted some of my movies to mp4. I used 2 different converter apps. When I click add file to library it doesnt show up in the library. Also when I update, it doesn't get sent to the ipod. Now I have done it before. I have a couple movies on my ipod. Now it's not working. Is there a patch or is it just the update that prevents this?

I am having the same problem, I have converted tons of videos, am able to watch them all on my computer, I put them all in one folder and add the folder to the library and only about half of them actually get added to iTunes, I've tried manually adding each file and it just doesn't do anything. Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks

  • Error when adding folder to library - Not adding files to ITunes library

Hey all, I just got my iPod for Christmas and I've been having a lot of problems with iTunes. Sometimes when I'd add a folder it'd add all the files 3 or 4 times, and now I'm having an even bigger problem. I was trying to get all my music in one place to finally have some organization on my comp, so I set it to copy files I added, then I figured I'd delete the old folder. I have a folder that, when I try to add it, it gives me the error "Attempting to copy to the disk "C:\" failed. The file name was invalid or too long."
It continues to go through the folder (Another few hundred songs, or almost 600 depending on if I did the top level folder) and it LOOKS like they're being added to iTunes, but they never get added to the library. If I try to update my iPod after this, the program takes all the music off my iPod. If I close and reopen, then it will update music, but NO files are added to the library. I can see that the files are being copied, and, as such, I'm not running out of disk space. These files are in there two or three times in some cases.
So, I have two questions. Does anyone know what causes this error, and does anyone know an efficient way I can delete all the "non-detected" files?

You'll probably have better luck asking the question here -> Windows EightForums
iTunes isn't designed to work with Windows 8 or any beta software, so theres no suprise that it isn't working as expected.

  • PNG files sent to iphone Photo App do not appear on 'date taken' (manually added in windows explorer)

I have over 1000 PNG files that do not have exif 'date taken'. They only have exif 'date created or modified'
The 'date created/modified' is not the actual date that I took the screen shots.
I added the 'date taken' manually in windows explorer. However, it seems that this does not write this data into the exif 'date taken' which remains blank.
When I transfer the PNG file from the PC to IPhone Photo App, it does not appear on the 'date taken' (that I added manually) but appears on the exif 'date created or modified'.
Interestingly, when I do same as above but with JPG file, it does show up correctly based on the 'date taken' (that I added manually in windows explorer).
So I converted the PNG file to JPG using one of the online tools. However, when I do this, the converted file does not retain the 'date taken'.
I can fix the above by:
    1.  Use Paint to save the PNG file as JPG; this retains the 'date taken' but this is not the solution I am looking for as I would need to do this for each file (there is no bulk 'save as' in Paint)
    2. Use a file conversion tool to bulk convert from PNG to JPG; but again this is not solution, as I would have to manually add the 'date taken' in windows explorer to each JPG file
Alternatively, I tried to rename the file name to include the 'date taken' and then use an exif date changer app to set the xhif dates based on file name.
However, I was not able to find any software that would allow me to do this. The software that I have seen only picks up the 'date taken' from file EXIF data. But in my case there is no such data in the file - only the 'date taken' that I manually added in Windows Explorer.
Any advice is appreciated. All I want to do is transfer PNG files from PC to Iphone Photo app and have these files appear in Photo app based on the 'date taken' (the one I manually added in windows - not the date taken in exif data).

Have you touched the "More" button (on the iPhone).
    then gone to Audio Books.
    Are they there?
I had an audio book still on my iphone, it survivedf the iOS5 update.
To get rid of it, I plugged iPhone into Mac,
    Go to itunes.
    Click on Iphone in iTunes.
    Go to Books tab,
Scroll down, there is audio books.
    Choose sync selected audio books,
And untick the ones I don;t want.
    Dows this work for you?
