Manually adding cover art
Hi there.
Don't know if anyone can help me, but I've got some of my own productions I have converted to MP3 and wanted to add to my iTunes. I've done most of them with no problems, but for some reason the version of iTunes I'm running (10.0.1.22) won't allow me to manually add cover art through the "get info" option in the right click dropdown menu.
Anyone know what I'm missing here?!!!

I'm having some trouble with the TV Live on fetching cover art . Is there a way to manually place cover art in my media directories so that the TV Live will display them. I'm assuming I could place a picture file with the same name as the media file except of the file extension but that's only a guess.

How can I get ITUNES to display manually added artwork for each song regardless of the album name?
I have been manually adding artwork to my songs. When I click the Show Artwork check box, it doesn't show the cover art. For example some greatest hits albums have different cover art per track. ITUNES picks one of the cover art and shows it for the entire album grouping.
Anyway around this? I want the added cover art to display per song.The artwork of each individual track does display during playback, in the small thumbnail at the top of the iTunes window, or at the left of the MiniPlayer control (opens by clicking the thumbnail), or the larger artwork panel that is shown if you click on the Show Large Artwork control in the MiniPlayer. It should also display on any iPod or iOS Now Playing view.
The Up Next list uses the album art (usually cover of the first track) for everything from the same album, which is perhaps a shame, although in general one artwork per album makes sense.

I've had the same problem with my iPod Classic but now I have it with my 6th generation Nano: After syncing with iTunes I have completely mixed up cover art on my iPod.
On the Classic I could fix it thanks to a tip I found here, by selecting 'Don't copy artwork to iPod' in iTunes and re-syncing afterwards. It seems however that this function is not available for the Nano. Does anyone have a way to fix this? I don't like the idea of having to re-sync the entire 16 Gb everytime this happens because of a software/syncing bug in iTunes.........Unfortunately it does seem the ONLY option to reset and resync. In other words there is no solution or fix, it's really a shame. I chose to have my music on the iPod re-encoded to 128 kbps AAC files, so it can carry more music, but resyncing will take a long time, almost a full day, to re-encode 16 Gb worth of music in 128 kbps. If there was a fix just to resync the coverart it should not have to take so long.
I spend a lot of time on keeping my music collection well tagged and orderly. I have ripped more than 600 cd's and 200 vinyl records (and counting) to my iTunes collection and searched (and scanned) and added cover art manually for most of the releases since iTunes doesn't always have a good source for cover art or doesn't recognize a specific edition of an album (or cd singles in particular).
It seems from time to time iTunes damages the coverartfiles (sometimes I find an old album suddenly has just a grey square as cover). Maybe it's because my iTunes library is on an external (FW800) disk. I don't know. However, the damaged coverart in the iTunes library seems a totally different problem than the mismatch in syncing with the iPod. Even after I've fixed all the coverart the syncing problem reoccurs.
It's strange Apple can't get the syncing right since it's their hardware and their software one would say it shouldn't be too hard to make the syncing perfect.
It seems however there's a double standard in storing the covers, some files have them embedded and others are downloaded to mysterious directory structures inside the iTunes Library folder. Why the double standard? Isn't that one of the causes for these problems? -
Adding Album Art to iTunes Local Folder?
I have a setup on iTunes on my Dell Dimension Desktop Machine. Basically I have uploaded ALL my CD collection to HDD in WAV format to retain sound quality.
My problem is with getting all the Album Art to work.
About one third of my collection iTunes does not have the Album Art? so I have scanned it all manually and placed an Folder.jpg in each Album/Track Folder.
I appreciate that WAV music files don't have a means of adding extra data to them like MP3 files, therefore, iTunes saves its own downloaded Album Art in a folder called "Download", there is also another Folder called "Local" which is where your manually added Album Art should go?
These are stored as .itc files
However then I try to manually try to add my own album art to the album, by selecting all tracks, Get info, Add album art to the white square and pressing OK nothing happens?
In the Artwork display box it say in large text "Artwork Not Modifiable"? for some reason?
Any ideas??Hi Andrew. As far as plug&play, I have not found anything. My best bet was to use a proper utility to grab album art on a go forward basis for all new tracks, and then for the old tracks that have the incorrect metadata, I slowly go through, open up a browser with amazon.com loaded, and then search for the albums/related art that I need. Once I find it I click on the album art in the main browser, which spawns a child window with just the jpeg of the album art in it, and then drag and drop it from that browser into the album art pane. Far from plug and play, but it gets the job done.

Cannot See Multiple Cover Art Anymore
Cannot see multiple cover artwork since I upgraded to iTunes 10.5.1. I used to be able to see more then one art cover for a song. Now there's no arrow button in the artwork box to scroll through other covers, even though the multiple cover art is in the info box of the song Track.
iTunes 10.6 did not restore the scroll arrows in the art work box either. The scroll arrows appear briefly when you
add additional art work. I wish Apple would say whether or not they plan to restore this feature. I have invested a l
lot of time and effort in adding cover art and liner notes to my iTunes library and I am certainly not the only
one who has. I don't understand the lack of a fix or the silence about the loss of this feature. Anyone out there
have any thoughs about this?

Cover art problem... iPod touch 4th gen
I have a 4th generation iPod and I'm adding cover art for my music.... The problem is the art shows up on itunes on my computer, but doesnt show up on the ipod itself... also if it helps I just downloaded iOS 5.1.
That is know problem with iOS 5 and iTunes 10.5 and 10.6. I have yet to see a solution.
Sometimes unsyncing and resymcing the music helps

Is there a limit on cover art and if so, can I extend that limit?
I finally got around to adding cover art today and things were going great. Itunes supplied most of the art and the rest I was copy/pasting from Amazon and similar sites. However, just as I was about 10 albums away from being done, I can no longer paste art into itunes. I have cleared out an extra 10 gigs of memory on my computer, but it seems to make no difference. Is there a built in maximum on itunes itself? Can I alter it? Is there something else to try? I've tried pasting in both the viewer and the item information window.
Okay, so it turns out the issue wasn't with itunes, it was with the couple of jpegs I tried to copy/paste. Apparently I coincidently got a couple in a row that had names in the neighborhood of 30+ digits long. 'Pasted them to desktop, renamed them, and was able to then paste them in itunes no problem.
Sorry about the goose chase - I guess when in doubt, it pays to ask a better question. I should have asked "What reason would there be that itunes won't accept a jpeg?"
Answer - a stupidly bohemoth-long name.

Most cover art disappeared after syncing
I just put a few more CDs onto my iTunes, and after I synced my iPod, all the cover art except for the few CDs I just added disappeared from the iPod. It's all still in my iTunes though. All pictures for video are gone too, but my photos still work fine. (The iPod is a Classic 160 GB)
Thoughts? Ideas?I was having a similar problem. For me it happens only with ripped tracks not available through iTunes. My solution was to uncheck “Automatically download missing album artwork” on the General Tab under Preferences.
Once I unchecked it, the disappearing covers stopped happening. Although it was an intermittent problem, it's now been 5 months since I changed it and I haven't lost any artwork.
This solution also has one obvious drawback. While iTunes purchased music is still downloaded with cover art, once you uncheck the "automatically download missing album artwork" box, music you rip and then import into iTunes won't have cover art. My take is I'd rather add cover art once when I import a song, then constantly have to re add random batches of artwork.
All I can figure is that when you have "get artwork" checked, iTunes goes through your library and replaces all artwork added by hand because it doesn't recognize either the file type or naming convention. For the most part we don't notice it, but when it hits a song it doesn't own the rights too, blam, gonzo.
Further proof that iTunes doesn't recognize or like the hand added cover art is that I had a song that iTunes automatically downloaded the wrong cover art for (van halen 1 instead of 2). I fixed it with the right cover from Amazon but I noticed it changed back to the wrong cover about a week later.

So, I have an album with no cover art (and it's not a common record so iTunes can't find it when using the Get Album Artwork feature), so I have to add it manually.
I select all the songs and klick "View info"->"Album artwork"
I drag and drop my image from Finder and it's seems to be added.
Burt as soon as I click OK and I'm back out at the album again it seems lika the images wasn't added. And when I go in to "View info"->"Album artwork" again nothing is there.
I have the lastest iTunes update.

Thanks for the question. It seems like you are following the steps in the article below. I would suggest checking the image file that you want to use for the album artwork to make sure it is in one of the formats needed. Also, check to make sure the music isn't in a WAV format.
Also, try a different image just to make sure the issue isn't with the image.
The second thing I would suggest is to try adding the image to one song in the album instead of all of the songs initially.
Quit the iTunes application, and then relaunch it. Is the artwork still intact?

You can add many types of still image files, including JPEG, PNG, GIF, TIFF, and Photoshop. You must convert WAVfiles to another format before you can add artwork to them.

The cover art does not show on My iTunes library even when I'm playing it. The cover art does not show in Word press either when you open it on a laptop. But I think I used a feed burner for the podcast and that's why the word press done now has come up. My question is that iTunes have Successfully I did my podcast however my son now is not my heart and I need to change that. Can anybody here please help me? I think it has something to do with the feed burner or potentially the way I have uploaded. I uploaded the podcast directly into WordPress I did not use any other hosting sites like libsyn.

It's only that I'm not clear why you are reluctant to post it. If you have a podcast in the iTunes Store then it's there for the world to see - they might search on its subject or title, for example, even if they don't actually know about it from you. Problems concerning sonata playlists and freevo cover art

I'm setting up a media center PC and I'm having some problems with the playlists created by sonata. Another problem I have is not getting freevo to download cover art.
First: When ever I try to make a playlist through the "Current" tab in Sonata it creates a m3u file with every song that's listed in the current window. I'm used to being able to pick one or a couple of songs and then adding it a specified playlist. Is this impossible in sonata? And if I try to play the m3u file created (the one with every song listed) through freevo I get a message that the directory is empty. What am I doing wrong??
Second: I'm having big problems getting freevo to download cover art to my music. I can download info on movies from imdb, but info for the music doesn't work. I store the cover art downloaded by sonata in the different album folders and these covers show up in freevo. But if I have to play every new song i download first in sonata to get the cover art working in freevo I'll go crazy. It's supposed to work the same way in freevo as in sonata isn't it???
It also seems that mplayer can't play m3u files. Using the mentioned sonata made m3u file in mplayer does nothing. Mplayer starts but nothing happens.
My goal is to be able to make playlists through sonata and then play these lists using freevo. I don't want to get up from the couch.

It's clearly not impossible, just different than you expect. Create your playlist as you want it to appear in the Current tab (meaning don't dump every single song from your library in there, just the ones you want) and then save the playlist.

I'm curious about some of the album cover art in my iPhone's iPod.
I've added a couple album covers manually that iTunes doesn't have. They look great in the Albums screen of the iPod in Cover Flow. However, when I go to play these albums, they don't show up on the Now Playing screen; I'm stuck with the generic iTunes image.
Anyone know why this is and how (if possible) to fix it? Does it occur with the iPhone 3G too?
Stevenyes it does still show up and it looks ridiculous taking up about 2/3 of the screen like that. not only that but in the new version of iTunes, it doesn't even give you the option to turn off album covers anymore, it's like mandatory now that they show up if there is a cover. that is so dumb, I don't know why they took away that option. extremely disappointing. I'm with you on the tag info, that was one of the reasons I upgraded because I used to have the 60Photo with the smaller screen.

Since installing iTunes 9.0.2, I have no cover art in Music/iTunes in Finder.
The cover art exists in iTunes but not in Finder, there I get a generic iTunes folder with the music note.
Now, if I choose a tune in iTunes and choose "Show in Finder" a finder window comes up and all the songs in that folder populate with the correct icons in the Finder window. But once I close it and open a new Finder window, they're gone again?

I see now your talking about cover artwork not being downloaded and added to the songs. iTUnes only has artwork for songs it has in its store. Also the tags on the song have to be EXACT for the most part. FOr example....
I had the album "Missy Elliott - So Addictive" and it would not find the artwork. I knew they had to have her album in the store so I manually looked in the itunes store for her album. This is now they had it listed
