Manually Attaching Version to Master

Hello Everyone,
I recently switched to Aperture from iPhoto and have spent quite a bit of time trying to get organized. I like Aperture's organizational style much more, though, so I'm hoping it'll be worth it in the end.
One problem I've run into is that Aperture imported iPhoto's version edits as 2 masters, typically stacked. So I'll have the version that I edited using iPhoto, plus the master that iPhoto was working off of, in a little 2 item stack, with no connection whatsoever between them. What I'm interested in doing is basically attaching the edited version back to the Master file. Is that at all possible?
Thanks in advance!

Tim,
The best you can hope for is to have the master and the "version" stacked. That is very useful, though.
IPhoto does non-destructive editing, but it does so by saving a new complete file of your photo, while leaving the original intact and not changed. Aperture, on the other hand, does its non-destructive editing by saving the master and then a set of instructions, the "version", which it applies to the master. In other words, your iPhoto library doesn't have Aperture versions. You imported two different photos. Two different photos will always be two different photos to Aperture, even if they look like the came from the same source to you or me.
These photos will be stacked in your Aperture library, but it's not likely that you will have any photos stacked for this particular reason again. I am in a similar situation as you. I have many "iPhoto" stacks in my Aperture library from my JPG+RAW shooting. In iPhoto, the RAW and JPG were someone shown once (I.e., one photo for each RAW/JPG pair), but each of the two files was stored in the iPhoto library. When I migrated my iPhoto library into Aperture, Aperture properly found two pictures for each, and now they are all stacked. Aperture would normally hide the JPG and work directly with the RAW (and consequently show only one entry for each JPG/RAW pair). I don't like it too much, but my only alternative is to go back in time and start using Aperture earlier. <sigh>

    How can I manually attach images from my photo booth to iCloud emails?
    They are imported as 'events' into my iphoto library.
    Auto function, in photo booth has my photos lying sideways when placed in 'mail' emails?

    There are many, many ways to access your files in iPhoto:   You can use any Open / Attach / Browse dialogue. On the left there's a Media heading, your pics can be accessed there. Command-Click for selecting multiple pics.
    (Note the above illustration is not a Finder Window. It's the dialogue you get when you go File -> Open)
    You can access the Library from the New Message Window in Mail:
    There's a similar option in Outlook and many, many other apps.  If you use Apple's Mail, Entourage, AOL or Eudora you can email from within iPhoto.
    If you use a Cocoa-based Browser such as Safari, you can drag the pics from the iPhoto Window to the Attach window in the browser.
    If you want to access the files with iPhoto not running:
    For users of 10.6 and later:  You can download a free Services component from MacOSXAutomation  which will give you access to the iPhoto Library from your Services Menu.
    Using the Services Preference Pane you can even create a keyboard shortcut for it.
    For Users of 10.4 and 10.5 Create a Media Browser using Automator (takes about 10 seconds) or use this free utility Karelia iMedia Browser
    Other options include:
    Drag and Drop: Drag a photo from the iPhoto Window to the desktop, there iPhoto will make a full-sized copy of the pic.
    File -> Export: Select the files in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. The dialogue will give you various options, including altering the format, naming the files and changing the size. Again, producing a copy.
    Show File:  a. On iPhoto 09 and earlier:  Right- (or Control-) Click on a pic and in the resulting dialogue choose 'Show File'. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.    3.b.
    b: On iPhoto 11 and later: Select one of the affected photos in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Reveal in Finder -> Original. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.

  • Can you compare Version to Master at same crop?

    The M key for comparing a version to a master is really useful. What it does, however, is zoom from the cropped image version to the uncropped master.
    When I compare master to version, I'm really just interested in the color, brightness, etc. of the cropped area--how that compares to the master. Other than unchecking the Crop checkmark and then pressing M (which would compare uncropped images), is there any way to compare a version to a master at the same crop level as the version I'm currently looking at? Would anyone else find this useful?

    So many,
    There is not a function per se, which does what you want. (I've provided feedback concerning the lack of this function, but that shouldn't stop you from providing feedback to the Aperture team about the same thing.)
    A couple weeks ago there was a discussion about this. [http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=6591395&#6591395]
    Sekoya suggested using Alt-G to create a new version from master. You can use that temporarily to compare an edited version with that new unedited version, which is identical to the master. Then you can delete (or undo) the new version.

    Hi,
        MRP  selects production version based on   Lotsize,Validity date and status.In R/3 ,we dont have functionality like
       1. Simultaneous MRP and Capacity Planning
       2. Best Optimum  route of production.
    This is very much available in APO only. You can use either of Quota arrangement or Capacity evolution functionality to distribute planned qty into other resources based on past experience.

  • Saving, Versions and Master

    Hello,
    I've just downloaded Aperture 3 to try it out but I'm a bit confused with how it saves the photos exactly.
    I imported several photos from my digital camera and chosen to place them in the Pictures folder. I did some basic editing to a photo and closed Aperture. I noticed that my edits were saved automatically.
    Now, I'm a bit confused as to how to retrieve the original master photo? Also, if I make additional modifications to that photo, would another version be saved? If so, how do I access all the versions of a photo?
    Thank you for your help.

    You are asking how to use Aperture, unfortunately a question that is a bit overly broad. Aperture will certainly allow you to do exactly what you ask, but I suggest buying a book/CD/tutorial and working all the lessons to learn the process.
    What you want is a tutorial, not a manual. One acceptable tutorial is:
    Apple Pro Training Series: Aperture 3  by Dion Scoppettuolo (Apr 23, 2010)
    Aperture does not change Masters. It makes non-destructive edits which when read by Aperture with the Master comprise Versions. A full new image is not actually created until one exports a version.
    One mandatory thing to do that many tutorials fail to note is:
    Back up original image files on and off site before importing into Aperture or any other images management application.

  • Document current version material master

    We currently have our document management system configured to show the current version of a document.  This works fine for documents in FR (final release).  What is a problem is that in the material master we still see documents attached that are OB (obsolete) or AR (archive).  Is there a config setting to not show archived documents when showing current versions?  So we want our material master to show only the lastest drawing in FR status.
    Thanks,
    Joe

    Hi Joe,
    The 'current version' setting is like a filter. In case the radio button is set to 'Current Version' only the highest version of a document number is displayed.
    The system logic depends on different circumstances and is like:
    no version is released:
    In this case the highest document version is displayed.
    a version is in released status:
    Then this version is displayed as the current one. Even if there are higher version numbers.
    To be sure the system behavior is correct please check also if the notes 847511 and 775515 are implemented correctly.
    I hope this information could be useful for you. If yes please donate some points.
    Best regards,

  • Get manual attachment from a report

    Hi all,
    I have a problem when trying to retrieve from a report the manual attachments of an SD invoice. Though I'm using a SD invoice, I guess is the same for any object.
    I usually use this way to get attachments from objects:
    1º ARCHIV_GET_CONNECTIONS -> Attachment info
    2º ARCHIVOBJECT_GET_DT_VIA_TABLE or ARCHIVOBJECT_GET_TABLE -> Attachment data
    3º Then download, email... or do whatever you want with the files.
    My problem now is, if I go inside an invoice and create an attachment manually, then it does not show up on TOA01 or on FM ARCHIV_GET_CONNECTIONS.
    Do you know a way to get these manual created attachments or at least where are they stored?
    Thanks in advance,
    Regards John

    Hi Madhukar,
    Thanks for the answer. That's exactly what I need.
    After a while I finally managed to execute them correctly, I'll explain here:
    1º Get the attachments info. In my case, as I told, are SD Invoices so class is VBRK
    CALL FUNCTION 'BDS_GOS_CONNECTIONS_GET'
      EXPORTING
    *   LOGICAL_SYSTEM           =
        classname                = 'VBRK'
        objkey                   = 'sd invoice number'
    *   CLIENT                   = SY-MANDT
      tables
        gos_connections          = it_gos_connections
    * EXCEPTIONS
    *   NO_OBJECTS_FOUND         = 1
    *   INTERNAL_ERROR           = 2
    *   INTERNAL_GOS_ERROR       = 3
    *   OTHERS                   = 4.
    2º We recover the data of any of the attachments we got before:
    From table gos_connections we use the field L0I0_ID to enter this next FM:
    CALL FUNCTION 'SO_DOCUMENT_READ_API1'
      EXPORTING
        document_id                      =   it_gos_connections-L0I0_ID
    *   FILTER                           = 'X '
    * IMPORTING
    *   DOCUMENT_DATA                    =
    TABLES
    *   OBJECT_HEADER                    =
       OBJECT_CONTENT                   = it_object_content
    *   OBJECT_PARA                      =
    *   OBJECT_PARB                      =
    *   ATTACHMENT_LIST                  =
    *   RECEIVER_LIST                    =
    *   CONTENTS_HEX                     =
    * EXCEPTIONS
    *   DOCUMENT_ID_NOT_EXIST            = 1
    *   OPERATION_NO_AUTHORIZATION       = 2
    *   X_ERROR                          = 3
    *   OTHERS                           = 4.
    3º Now we got the data, we can do whatever we want. For example if we want to download it we can go like this:
    we use the it_object_content from last FM for this next one.
    CALL FUNCTION 'SO_OBJECT_DOWNLOAD'
    EXPORTING
    *   BIN_FILESIZE           = 0
    *   DEFAULT_FILENAME       = ' '
       FILETYPE               = 'BIN' "for PDF
       PATH_AND_FILE          = 'C:TEST '
    *   EXTCT                  = ' '
       NO_DIALOG              = 'X'
    *   CODEPAGE               =
    * IMPORTING
    *   FILELENGTH             =
    *   F_CANCELLED            =
    *   ACT_FILETYPE           =
    *   ACT_FILENAME           =
      TABLES
        objcont                =  it_object_content
    * EXCEPTIONS
    *   FILE_WRITE_ERROR       = 1
    *   INVALID_TYPE           = 2
    *   X_ERROR                = 3
    *   KPRO_ERROR             = 4
    *   OTHERS                 = 5.

  • Is there a way to sync only the latest photo version (not master) from Aperture 3.2 to iPhone through iTunes?

    I'm interested in only having the latest version of a photo stack sync to my iPhone, currently it only syncs the master image and ignores any versions that have been created.

    Firefox 2 versions used bookmarks.html format to store bookmarks, you can '''import''' that type of bookmarks file format into all later versions of Firefox. <br />
    Bookmarks > Organize Bookmarks -> Import & Backup - Import HTML... - from file
    The correct version of the Password Exporter extension can be installed in the old Firefox 2 version, to export you password data. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/password-exporter/versions/#version-1.2
    Then install the correct version of that extension in the newer version, so you can restore your passwords into the newer version. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/password-exporter/

  • Exporting Versions sends master and version files

    For some reason when I try to export versions of my photos instead of exporting just the versions aperture sends both the master and the version. Any ideas of how this can be avoided? Do I have something wrong in a preset or preference?

    Do you mean that you are getting the original RAW file as well?

    I did not take action in this instance. Moderator action is usually quite clear - we leave a message explaining what we've done. I can guess what has happened here, but I can't say for sure. You posted a question, it was answered with a one liner "Search the forum with "SHD0". " This indicates that you could have answered the question yourself with a little research, or it was a basic question. .
    (If it had been moderating it - in my area of expertise -  I would have locked the thread entirely, or rejected it).
    However, as further discussion shows, there was more meat on the question than at first appeared
    But you are quite wrong with regards to moderator action regarding points. If a question is a FAQ for example, then awarded points will be removed. If an answer violates the rules of the forum, points will be removed. If a user has violated the rules to an extent that they may be about to deleted, as final sanction points may be removed. If members try to cheat the point system, they'll have points remvoed.

  • Attaching docs in master data

    Hi, is it possible to attach documents of ms office to material master, bom,work center,routing, prts etc in ecc 6.0. pls advise how to do that?

    Dear Yadav,
    You can create documents using CV01N and attach MS office files and attach the same in the material master or BOM or PRT.
    In one of my project we have used the same,but limited only in the material master and BOM.Again there will be storage limitation for
    this,where your Basis consultant can guide you more on this storage limitation or if you have DMS implemented,then its possible.

    Last week I purchased the Adobe CS5 Master collection (Teacher and student edition) from a reseller and received the software package last Thursday (16th Feb).
    On that same day, I followed the instructions and visited www.adobe.com/go/eduverify to register the product and receive my registration code.
    I entered the customer support portal, logging in with my Adobe ID
    I completed the online student edition order fulfilment form, in which I provided the Coupon code which was printed in the upper left corner of the Student Edition order fulfillment process instructions (inside my Adobe Student Edition box)
    I attached a digital copy of my proof of eligibility (enrollment details from my college)
    I have waited more than 3 working days for my e-mail from Adobe instructing me how to retrieve my serial number.
    It has NOT arrived in any of my email inboxes (I have checked my online spam folders)
    I have contacted and asked support (on a chat form) to help.   They did not help at all, just explained that i needed to do what I have described above. I told them I had done that. They proceeded to tell me again that I needed to do that. I told them I had already done that. ...and etc. ad nauseum ....until I closed the chat window rather than type abuse at their obtuseness.
    I have now also sent an email with my enrollment proof attached to [email protected]
    I need to get my software unlocked. Is there anything anyone can suggest that might speed this process along a little so I can collect my registration code and get started using the software? someone special I need to contact? something special i need to do?
