Manually drop frames for stop-animation look and feel?

Hi, is there any way to manually drop frames in FCP? I need to make a scene (shot in mini-dv) look and feel like "stop motion animation". I was thinking if I could randomly drop frames and then slightly slow the footage down, it would give me the kind of "jary" effect of stop motion animation. And seing as dropping frames would essentially speed the fotage up, I would slow it down slightly to compensate. But individually dropping frames will take me forever!!! Is there a filter that can do this (FCP5)?
Thanks,
Lela

Here's another option...
Speed the clip (or sequence nested)up with no frame blending - FCP will drop frames. Experiment as using specific %s will do this for you.
Then go into Cinema Tools and conform back to 29.97... This will make it look faster -- then slow it down without using frame blending and FCP will just duplicate frames.
I've done this in Shake at it works great - I'm reaching just a bit that it will also work in FCP the same way.
Good luck,

  • Accessing File/Folder icons for current Look and Feel

    Hi,
    I'm looking to get the Icon for files and folders that the current UIManager uses for some work I'm doing. Please could you help.
    I'm getting strange results from the method I'm using, which is to create a temporary file and do: Icon i = FileSystemView.getFileSystemView().getSystemIcon(tempFile);
    I don't like the idea of having to create a temporary file to do this - isn't there another way to do it? - for instance asking "get default file icon"/"get default folder icon".
    I could download a jpg image of the file/folder icons, but this is static - and I want my method to get the icons used for the current look and feel I'm using.
    There must be a simple way to do this right? I mean, java uses a method to get the icons for the current look and feel.. Oh.. Please help!
    - Edd.

    Try these:
    UIManager.getIcon("FileView.directoryIcon");
    UIManager.getIcon("FileView.fileIcon");Leif Samuelsson

  • HELP !! XP look and feel ...

    how can i make my frame have an XP look and feel ??????
    please help me in details , cause i haven't done this look and feel thing before ??? thanks in advance ..

    You need to change to the windows LnF which is not the default. The
    following code will do it for you. Note that it will only work if your
    using Windows XP.
    * LookAndFeel.java
    public class LookAndFeel {
        public static final String MAC_CLASS = "com.sun.java.swing.plaf.mac.MacLookAndFeel";
        public static final String METAL_CLASS = "javax.swing.plaf.metal.MetalLookAndFeel";
        public static final String MOTIF_CLASS = "com.sun.java.swing.plaf.motif.MotifLookAndFeel";
        public static final String WINDOWS_CLASS = "com.sun.java.swing.plaf.windows.WindowsLookAndFeel";
        public static final String GTK_CLASS = "com.sun.java.swing.plaf.gtk.GTKLookAndFeel";
        public static final String KUNSTSTOFF_CLASS = "com.incors.plaf.kunststoff.KunststoffLookAndFeel";
        public static boolean updateLookAndFeel(String currentLookAndFeel, java.awt.Component parent) {
         try {
             javax.swing.UIManager.setLookAndFeel(currentLookAndFeel);
                if(parent != null) {
                    javax.swing.SwingUtilities.updateComponentTreeUI(parent);
         } catch(Exception ex) {
             System.out.println(ex);
                return false;
            return true;
    }To get it to work do the following:
        LookAndFeel.updateLookAndFeel(LookAndFeel.WINDOWS_CLASS, this);where this represents your JWindow or JFrame.
    Hope it helps.

    What a shock!! Where is the premium look and feel I bought my iPhone for?
    If I wanted the lokale feel of iOS 7.0 I would have bought a much cheeper taiwanese smartphone.
    Please let me know how I can return to the original look and feel of the iPhone surface I bought my phone for.

    You had plenty of time to look at screenshots on the internet and read various blog posts about iOS 7.

  • How do I get a more modern look and feel for a compiled help file

    I gather from reading various posts that there is no easy way
    to generate a .chm file with a more modern look and feel (am I
    right about this?). Are there no plug-ins available from Adobe that
    will enable us to generate a help file that looks more modern?
    I hesitate to move to flash help or something like that
    because, of course, then the developers would have to hookup the
    hundreds of dialog boxes we have in our product to the new files. I
    also think that having one file is way easier to manage in terms of
    getting updated help to the customers. What are online Help
    developers generally delivering for apps where users are not
    connected to the Internet except perhaps periodically while using
    the software? I'm a writer (not a developer) so need soemthing that
    is easy to implement :-)
    Thanks for your help. It is much appreciated.

    To add to the advice already offered, you can apply a skin to
    a CHM file which allows you to customise it. However as with most
    things there are issues with this approach. You can read about this
    by downloading Rick Stone's excellent
    tips
    'n tricks file. Just look in the index under "skins". Something
    else you may want to look at is the beta of Adobe's
    AIR.

  • How to change the look and feel for Heading of quick launch menu in project server 2010

    Hi
    can someone tell me how to change the look and feel of Header names in quick launch.
    I want the header to be displayed in Bold with Underline to it.
    could this be possible for just header in quick launch in project server 2010.

    Hi Rohan
    It does not work this way. You have to use a content editor webpart.
    See references below that might help you starting with this customisation:

  • I want to restore the look and feel of Firefox 3.6 etc with large icons for last page next page reread and home page located off the toolbar in the upper left like 3.6

    I want 4.0 to look like 3.6 with large separate icons for last page, next page, reread current page and go to home page, in lieu of the little icons to the right of the
    default navigation toolbar. I tried setting up a separate toolbar but it never reappeared. There should be a way to just restore 3.6 look and feel. Otherwise I will go back to 3.6.

    You can make Firefox 4 look and behave more like Firefox 3.6, for details see http://www.computertechtips.net/64/make-firefox-4-look-like-ff-3-6

  • Can i perform SDK 7 Compilation while maintaining SDK6 look and feel for my App

    In our organization we test the App using visual specs and our existing visual specs are aligned with SDK 6 look and feel. When i compile my app with SDK 7 the visual display of the App changes completely and is no longer in sync with the visual specs used for testing. As SDK 7 compilation is a mandate for post Feb 1 submission, is it possible to compile the code with SDK 7 while maintaining SDK 6 visual look and feel?

    What i am actually trying to do is to maintain the existing SDK6 UI Look and Feel on iOS7. Apple has issued a mandate to have all Apps compiled with SDK7 for App Store submission post Feb1, 2014. If i compile with SDK7, even if i set the deployment target as iOS6, when my app runs on iOS7 it will have the new Apple's iOS7 look and feel. How can i accomplish this?

  • Changing look and feel for one INSTANCE of a component

    I am trying to change the look and feel of just ONE instance of a component. In particular, I want to change the color of the JScrollBar thumb on a certain JScrollPane. I want this change to not affect any other component, either before or after. How can I do this?? Any help would be much appreciated.
    AC

    Hi acalvin3!
    I have a solution. Use the UIManagers database. You should overwrite the default settings for the resource you want to change, the code is self explaining:
          UIManager.put( "Button.margin", commonMargin );
          UIManager.put( "Button.focusInputMap", commonInputMap );
          UIManager.put( "Button.font", buttonFont );To reset values you only have to use
          UIManager.put( "Button.margin", null );
          UIManager.put( "Button.focusInputMap", null );
          UIManager.put( "Button.font", null );Set values before you create your component and reset values immedeately after you created your component, otherwise you may affect other components too.
    With following code you can find out default values for the whole UIManagers database:
          Hashtable defaultProps = UIManager.getDefaults();
          Enumeration enum = defaultProps.keys();
          while (enum.hasMoreElements()) {
             Object key = enum.nextElement();
             System.out.println( "key: '" + key + "'\t value: '" + defaultProps.get(key) + "'" );
          }You just have to look for the output for the component you want to change the look and feel.
    Have fun...

  • Oracle Forms Look and Feel project for Forms 6i

    Hello everybody,
    Recently I find a web site that introduce Oracle Forms Look and Feel project,
    Oracle Forms Look and Feel project
    http://sheikyerbouti.developpez.com/forms-pjc-bean/LAF/doc/Oracle_Forms_Look_and_Feel_project.htm
    Can I use the PL/SQL library (laf.pll) , Java Beans and PJCs grouped in a jar file (laf.jar) for Oracle Forms 6i?
    thx

    Hi Francois,
    I find one website mention the following,
    "PL/SQL tables reside in the private PL/SQL area of the Oracle Server database instance; they are not available as client-side structures at this time. As a result, you cannot declare and manipulate PL/SQL tables in your Oracle Developer/2000 environment."

  • F2 Edit in JTable -- standard for all look and feel ?

    hi,
    I use a robot to simulate a F2 when a column is in focus in a JTABLE so that user can just type without having to type the <F2> key.
    My question is:
    Is F2 (to get a column in edit mode) for JTABLE standard for all look and feel (metal, X-windows ..) ?
    Thanks.

    Read the JTable API. There is a link the gives the

  • Customised look and feel for B2B/B2C web shop.

    Dear experts,
                I would like to find out if there is an admin page for SAP E-commerce to customise the look and feel of the webshop?
    Thanks.
    Wein

    Hi Wein,
    To change Look and Feel for Web shop is depends on scenario of eCommerce application i.e. B2B or B2C. B2B has different structure than B2C.
    Web Channel application comes in SAP standard with SAP look and Feel. You have to change look and feel as per client requirement.
    To change look and feel of Both B2B/B2C scenario you have to deal with files like CSS, JSP, Properties, XLF and some time you have to add your custom JAVA, JSP, CSS, Properties files etc...
    To change standard SAP logo youhave to make change in CSS files. Also you have to consider Browser type while changing look and feel because to display your B2B/B2C application correctly in different browser you have to make changes in different CSS.
    You will get better idea with example how to change look and feel in "Dev & Ext. Guide" for Web Shop. You will get this from Service Market place.
