Manually install drivers?

Well i'm having problems with my 4GB iPod Nano (2nd Gen) when I connect it to the computer with the USB cable a message comes up saying windows does not recognize this device, I tried uninstalling and reinstalling it a few times tried putting it in disk mode tried pretty much everything on the iTunes site but nothing seemed to work. So I was in the deivce manager trying to think of a solution and I right clicked on "Unkown Device" (which is supposed to be my iPod but its listed as Unkown Device)and clicked properties and it said "No Drivers are installed for this device" so I think thats my problem and I was wondering if there is something I can download that installs the drivers...

I don't really understand why theres no drivers, if I uninstall and reinstall it says Found new hardware and new hardware installed but then it goes to "Unkown Device"
I was looking through the event viewer and I found this if its any help...
"The description for Event ID ( 0 ) in Source ( iPod Service ) cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. You may be able to use the /AUXSOURCE= flag to retrieve this description; see Help and Support for details. The following information is part of the event: Service started."
not quite sure what it means...

  • Windows 10 upgrade from 7 Pro: No internet and cannot manually install drivers for adapters...

PC: HP Proboook 4510SPrevious OS: Windows 7 Pro 32-bitNew OS: Windows 10 Pro 32 bit Issue:  I upgraded to windows 10 from 7 pro and some of my internal devices dont have drivers. I could fix this issue quickly if two of them were not my ethernet card and wireless adapter.  Right now I only have 2 adapters listed under network adapters and both are virtual VM ethernet cards.  Neither of these can establish a connection through a router I know is working on other laptops in my house.  The error I get is that the IP address cannot be resolved.  The odd part is that when I look at the details for the VM ethernet cards it shows a good DHCP IP and subnet....TX/RX is no good though as it only shows sending packets and not recieving them.   I tried to manually install the windows 7 drivers from a USB stick. I got them off of HP's website. I installed them but it did nothing.  However, I was having no luck and restarted and they momentarily showed up in the adapters list (under network settings in control panel).  Then as soon as I tried to enable them they went away and I still have no internet.  Not sure what is going on or what to do.  If I cannot install the HP drivers and get them to work, and I cannot connect to the internet to let windows fix the problem I seem to be stuck.. Please Help.

Hello , I understand that your secondary DVD drive is not recognizable as an optical device on your desktop computer after upgrading to Windows 10. I would be happy to assist you in this matter! When you examine the installed drives in the BIOS, does the 2nd DVD drive appear? What brand are the two DVD drives? What is the product number for your computer? Below is a is an HP Support document that will demonstrate how to find your computer's product number.
How Do I Find My Model Number or Product Number? In the meantime, I recommend following the steps in this document on HP PCs - Updating Drivers and Software with Windows Update (Windows 10, 8). This should help to install any possible updates required to run the secondary DVD drive. Please re-post with the results of your troubleshooting, as well as the requested information above. I look forward to your reply!

  • Location of manually installed drivers

I have installed a Canon MX310 on my Mac (10.5.2) which works fine connected to USB. Now I want to connect to the same printer over a Network. When I try to select the driver the only ones available are the various Gutenprint drivers which do not include the MX310. BUT WHERE HAS THE DRIVER THAT I INSTALLED FOR THE 310 GONE? Clearly it is on my machine somewhere, but I cannot find it to select!! HELP!!

    Can you clarify this?
I am having a problem using my HP Photosmart 2610 from a network on my iMac running Leopard. But I can find no driver at all for the 2600 series on the pull-down of drivers in the IP tab of the Printers & Faxes system preferences. Yet Apple's site listed the 2600 series as included and supported by Leopard.
Right. This is the same situation. The driver is only intended to support the device when it is directly connected to the computer via USB.
And when I call Apple tech support they say it is HP that supplies the driver and they encouraged me to download the most current one from their site. Yet when I did I have the same issue as the other poster where it is still not showing up on the list of drivers.
So HP hasn't added network support for their driver for this device.
If the manufacture drivers do not support Networking on a Mac, why would Apple point me to HP to solve the problem?
I wouldn't expect Apple support doesn't know what the capabilities of any particular printer or driver. There are literally thousands of printer models available. Some new, some old. They were trying to point you to where you would look to find a solution to your problem if there is a solution.
BTW, HP of course says it is an Apple problem. And if you plug the printer in via USB it instantly finds it. I am beginning to theorize that Apple supplied a 2600 series driver that excludes network functionality for some reason which is why it excludes listing that driver from the pull-down in the IP tab. But why would they exclude network functionality from a network printer?
Apple does not write the printer drivers for HP printers. Apple distributes what HP supplies as a courtesy that benefits both the computer user and HP. It saves the computer user a trip to the HP site to download a driver and it saves HP the bandwidth from having all Apple users downloading drivers for the operating system.
You can get your printer to work on a network by using the hpijs driver from "http://www.linux-foundation.org/en/OpenPrinting/MacOSX/hpijs". You will have to remove the HP software to use this driver and you will lose the ability to scan.

  • Is it possible to install Windows 7 without using BCA to install drivers and using the support 5 software for drivers on my iMac 2014?

What I am wondering is if I can install Windows 7 on my iMac 2014 without using BCA to install drivers and using the manual download Support software without bricking my system. The issue is that I recently moved into the country without a reliable data connection, so I'd like to download all the drivers from when I'm in town generally. Any info is appreciated.

    Hello,
I'm trying to purchase inexpensive computers for my classroom. One of the computers I'm looking at is the new $200 HP Stream 11. My school's IT department said it might be difficult to install the district's copy of Windows 7 on these computers if I purchase them. Does anyone know if it's actually possible to uninstall Windows 8.1 and install Windows 7 using an external USB or external CD Rom Drive? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
The District is right to say what they told you they can't install Disctrict Windows 7 on your computer because they have a license agreements with MS and doing so will violate their Terms of Agreement. And you shouldn't be asking something like that to start with. If that laptop can't install Windows 7 it then your stuck with WIndows 8 unless HP has downgrade to go back to Windows 7 on it otherwise if none exist you will not get any drivers or support for it. You best luck is to find a used Windows 7 laptop and order the HP recovery media for it and wipe it clean to factory install and register it to you and that will give you a Windows 7 maching to start with.

  • Downloading and installing drivers

    Hello all,
I'm a complete newbie to downloading and installing drivers for my S-10, once you download the drivers, how and where do you install them without trashing your computer?  Also I'd like to upgrade my RAM from 4GB to 6GB; what I'd like to do is get 2 2x2 GB of RAM and run them with 2 1x1 GB of RAM does anyone know whether this will work or am I asking for trouble?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

    welcome to the forum!
driver installation and updates are made easy using thinkvantage system update.   this comes pre-installed on all lenovo systems and can be used on clean installations as well.   it saves from the tedious process of downloading individual drivers.
if you prefer to download individual drivers and install them manually, the S10 driver matrix can be found here.
regarding memory for the S10, this was discussed recently here.   i suggest reading through that thread first before making any purchases.   the 6GB combination you've mentioned will work as long as all modules match in type (ECC) and speed.

  • Unable to install drivers for Intel 1218-V LAN.

Yesterday I built a new computer with an Asus Z97 board, which has an integrated Intel 1218-v LAN.
All of the drivers installed correctly from the drivers disc in W10TP, except for the LAN. The error given is that an Intel(R) Adapter is not found in the computer.
Attempting to install the drivers in compatibility mode (I tried XP through 8.1) all failed.
Attempting to run the installer as administrator failed.
Attempting to download the installer from Intel rather than Asus failed.
Attempting to let Windows find a driver from available offline drivers failed.
Plugging in a USB<-> Ethernet dongle to get the computer online, and then letting Windows search online for updates/available drivers failed.
Manually installing the driver from a list of drivers (Device manager -> Unknown LAN -> Update Driver -> Browse -> Choose from a list -> Intel Corp -> Intel 1218-V) will force install a driver, but will end with the error that the device
was unable to start, and will still show flagged in device manager, and of course we are unable to go online. (I also tried the 1217 series on a whim, but that also failed.)
I formatted and installed Win 7 on the machine, and all drivers installed normally, including the LAN.
I notice a couple other people have mentioned this same problem, but the question keeps getting closed out when a moderator suggests something that I have listed above (likely because nobody is willing to wait on an answer when their Internet is not working.)
    Please advise.

    DonPick,
Your link has resolved the issue for me, but I did run into a few hurdles. The steps I took to install the drivers are as follows:
    1: Download PROwinX64 executable from Intel. https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?DwnldID=23071
2: Your instructions said to extract the files, but of course the self extractor cleans them up too quickly, and the /f argument suggested by Intel did not work for me. I used 7-Zip to extract the files onto a thumb drive.
3: Device Manager > Right click the LAN > Update Driver > Browse my computer > There are a slew of folders once you extract from the .exe. I found success pointing to the PRO1000 folder alone. Hit next and I am golden.
Thanks for your help. Hopefully this will be resolved in later builds. It's awfully difficult to troubleshoot driver issues when you can't get online to download/research fixes =]

  • HT2305 I have a new computer with Windows 8 OS.  Do I need to install drivers so that my Ipod Nano will sync with this new computer:

My daughter gave me a new Ipod (Nano) for Christmas.  I had no problem download my songs from my old Ipod (Shuffle) to the new one.  However - since I do not buy songs on a regular basis, I did not buy a new song until 4/29/13.  Now for information...sometime in March my old laptop died, completely.  I had to go buy a new one - which I did and this new one has Windows 8 Operating System on it (which I hate, btw).
Now, when I bout a song on Tuesday, the song did not go to my new Ipod.   I tried everything and finally had to talk to a tech - who was very kind in helping me and we did get all my songs from Itunes to this new computer.  I thought the song I bought would then go on the Ipod - but it did not.  I had already hung up from the tech - since we had been talking on the phone for about an hour.  He informed me that he was giving me a "courtesy break" because it has been over 90 days since my new Ipod was purchased ---- just my darn luck!
Anyway, I have figured out on my own that the new Ipod Nano is not synced with the new laptop with Windows 8.  I have been trying for the last 2 hours to get it to do so and in doing so, found out that Windows 8 is not mentioned in any of the help forums.  So...my question is:  Do I need to install drivers on the computer or what?  I will not be purchasing anymore music from Itunes until I get this matter resolved.  Any help will be apreciated. Thank you.

  • TS1702 i can't open all apps that i manually installed. when i try to open one, it asks me to log in to my apple account and when i do it, it says that my apple id or password is incorrect. does anyone can help me to fix this problem?

i upgrade my 3gs to os 6.1 but starting then all my manually installed apps does work and every time I open them, it asks me to log in to my apple account but responds that my password is incorrect. I tried to change my password but i never received the confirmation email. Does anyone know how to fix this?

    Hi,
iChat (it would help to know which version) can accept Apple IDs as valid AIM Screen Names.
However if you have iChat 5 or earlier you cannot use ones ending in @me.com or @icloud.com issued by iCloud. (they can be used in iChat 6 or Messages as these versions make a double login to AIM and Apple to allow the use of the password).
In addition if you are using an Apple ID for an AIM Screen Name the password still needs to keep to the 16 character limit that AIM has.
AN @mac.com name can be used on any version of iChat  (Until the 30th June 2014)
As it does not need a double check with Apple you can use it to log in to the AIM Web pages
Login here with an AIM Name registered at AIM or and @mac.com name and see if you get any suspended account messages.
Sometimes account can be suspended. Usually because something has triggered the "Unusual Activity" item.
About a year ago many @mac.com users that travelled out of their own country found themselves suspended when they got home.
If the Name checks out of if an Apple ID the password in known to be 16 characters or Less then do this:-
In Lion upwards open a Finder Window and use the Go Menu whilst holding down the ALT key.
Select the Library that appears in the menu list.
    Navigate to Preferences.
(If you have version earlier than Lion the just navigate to ~/Library/Preferences (that's the Library in you Home - Little House icon - folder)
Fnd com.apple.ichat.aim.plist (even if you are using Messages)
Drag the file to the Trash and Restart the app.

  • Problem with installing drivers Audig

I re-installed my PC today, but I can't get my SoundBlaster installed properly.
I downloaded the latest driver for my Audigy 2 on Windows XP SP2:
    SBAX_WBUP2_LB_2_09_006.exe
After the installation process on the final Windows reboot it ends with a generic critical failure. The drivers seem installed, my PC finds the Audigy 2 after installation, but the control console doesn't appear, nor am I able to find it in the Creative directory. I do get sound, can play MP3's etc and hear game sounds, although I am not 00% sure whether eax is working properly.
I also tried to install the old drivers from the CD-ROM, which worked. When I use the auto-update afterwards and the driver is installed the console is still there, but doesn't work anymore with reporting that: no soundcard installed/found or something like that.
I tried a couple times and with driver cleaning in between etc, but can't get it working.
Is the current driver broken or do you have some advice on what to do?

it's possible that you don't have nvidia graphic adapter.
for bluetooth issue, make sure you switch the button ( probably front side of your computer ) and activate bluetooth by pressing fn + f5 ( activate it )
after then, if you have bluetooth device, you can install drivers.

  • How can I do a manual install of ACR 7.4 in 64-bit Win 7 PSE 11?

I found detailed instructions on this forum that I think were for  32-bit Win 7 but I'm hoping 64-bit install is different since I followed them and still no success.  I know that 8.1 is supposed to be able to be manually installed and that would be ok too but I really only need to go from 7.1 to 7.4 and the update function is greyed out.  I started with a trial version on that machine so maybe that has something to do with it?  It is registered and activated.  Tried to uninstall/re-install and still no luck(didn't check the "de-activate" though so maybe I need to try again and choose this?
Not afraid to try a manual install if it is in fact different.
This is the thread I followed - http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1266134
I have the PSE 11 on a Mac platform also and was able to update it no problem...can't get the Win 7 to work for the life of me.
    Thanks for any responses.

    Glad it worked.
There is one more thing you should install and those are the camera raw profiles for 8.1
Download the 8.1 DNG Converter and run the installer to install the camera raw profiles.
(those profiles would normally be installed if the updater in your pse 11 was working)

  • Vista 32 - ipod not recognized, failed to install drivers, disconnecting

    Hi to all,
I have experienced a problem with my brand new Ipod classic 80GB and was flustrated by it. It took me some time ro research internet to find a fix for this problem and i would like to share it with you to have it at one place. If such article exists here i appologize, i did not find it myself.
    _The problem:_
Ipod in Windows Vista 32 *cannot find/install drivers*. Ipod shows up for couple of seconds and then *automaticaly disconnects*.
    Solution:
i have found solution that worked form me at this site
    [http://teknobabble.wordpress.com/2007/08/18/vista-driver-problems-installing-a- usb-media-reader-a-solution>
Thanks to the autor of this article and i hape this helps some of you having the same problem as i had

Can you be specific as to what drivers are not installing? An issue that can be had when doing PNPEnum is that child devices of something that does not have a driver installed are not visible to the PNPEnum. A way to get around that is you can force the
injection of drivers that are not getting installed. Something like you can add a second Inject Driver step but, have it be a selection profile of drivers that always get missed because they are children.

  • Can no longer install drivers and touch screen not working anymore

I have the HP 520-1130ea all in one PC. Its a touchscreen. I have Windows 7 home premiun 64 bit operating system.
it has been working fine for the last two years and on Friday 11th april, i connected my android tablet (samsung Galaxy tab 7.0) to my pc and it could not install the drivers so my PC could not see the tablet.  Last week this worked ok. I attach my tablet to my pc using a USB cable and transfer files by usb transfer. I dont use any software at all.
I have tried to reinstall the drivers for the android tablet and i get the error code that the drivers were found but they cant be installed. Access denied.
I have also tried to restore my pc to the last time everything worked ok which was just a week before the problem started, but the restore has failed on 4 occassions.
I have now deleted all updates on my PC from last week and i think I have deleted something or failed to allow something to isntall (a box popped up when i restarted the computer after the update delete which I ignored)
No my touch screen no longer works.
I plugged in an external hard drive to back up my computer and I also could not install the drivers for that too. this just happened today.
My printer is connected to my PC and that still works ok.
I have been battling with this for 4 days now and ploughed the internet for solutions and no hope in sight!
    I have also tried:
    1. installing optional updates. no luck there. also some of the updates failed
    2. giving myself full control on the system 32 folder in windows.
I am the administrator on the PC.
    HELP PLS!!!

    Hi compnewbie,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
Thank you very much for your thorough post and detailed steps! I see that you are not being able to install drivers, and I would be happy to assist you!
The first suggestion I will make is to boot your computer in Safe Mode. To do this, please follow this document on Windows 7 Safe Mode. No extra software will be loaded, which will make this driver issue easier to troubleshoot. In Safe Mode, try to connect your external drive.
If you still cannot connect your external drive (or any other USB device), I recommend following this resource on Testing for Hardware Failures (Windows 7). This should help diagnose any potential hardware problems with the computer.
If you are not able to detect any hardware problems on your computer, please follow this document on Restore files from a backup.
Please re-post with the results of your troubleshooting, and I will diligently follow up with you!
