Manually modify DISPLAY port number

Our 11.5.9 system has ADF concurrent report, we started up a X background service at Admin tier for Report server running. As request from the UNIX admin, we need change the port number for X windows. Since it is production, we have lots of customization, I want to avoid undate the context file and run the autoconfig. Therefore, I tried to modify the DISPLAY parameter in environment files on both tiers directly. However, it does not work. Does anyone know what I missed?
Here is the file list I touched.
adcmctl.sh , adrepctl.sh , $IAS_ORACLE_HOME/Apache/Jserv/*.properties on both tiers, re-bounced the whole application afterwards.

There should be an entry for the DISPLAY variable in the application env file. This entry is created from the context file and after running AutoConfig. Also, make sure that the DISPLAY is set in the applmgr user profile.
I used to follow the same procedure when configuring the DISPLAY in non-AutoConfig environments, update the env file manually and make sure it is set in adcmctl.sh before staring the CM.

    Navigate to <ucm_home>/admin/config/config.cfg and there in change the port number .
    After that restart admin server so it starts using the new port number.

    Couple of things ...
    1 - default port for installation is on 7777 and 7778. Would it be possible to run everything on port 80? I would like to hide the port number and not have people type in http://domain.com:7778
    2 - how can we use subdomains for certain services? For example, webmail should be http://webmail.domain.com and the RTC should be http://conference.biztech.com

    This certainly fixed the problem I was having when all of a sudden my j2ee server would no longer open. However, this raised a new question for me which is somewhat of an off-shoot to this problem - how does one select a new port#? Is there some rule of thumb? Just wondering.

    It is difficult for me to understand the problem. Could you please provide more information about the version of the J2EE Engine you use, the environment - cluster, nodes. If it is possible to copy/paste the HTTP request and Http response. What is this default port number that you mention?

    One way to check is using Transaction<b> SMICM</b>. You can also try SE37 > RSBB_URL_PREFIX_GET. When you execute this function module, the Export parameters returned are what appear in your URL.
    If there is a difference between what you see in SMICM and the Export Parameters, it means that somewhere the settings are wrong...your Basis team can help in that case.

    Hi Thomson,
    It is by design that the canonical URL will display port number for SharePoint pages.
    And if you have other sites which are using port number other than 80, then the port should be displayed in the URL for requests can be directed to the correct sites.
    So the port number should not be removed from the URL.
    If you do not want this canonical URL, then you may need to disable the Search Engine Optimization feature in the site collection.
    As this feature is enabled by SharePoint Publishing feature, then we need to disabled it using PowerShell command:
    Disable-SPFeature -identity 17415b1d-5339-42f9-a10b-3fef756b84d1 -URL

  • Email setup: cannot change port number

    So I created an account here just to express my frustration with how blackberry handles email setting. My grilfriend got a blackberry just because it's free (big mistake, i should have told her to take an iphone instead). Now she wants to check her email from the device. Her school email server uses a non-standard port number (google apps email uses port number 993 for imap server). I googled and followed the trick to enter a wrong password so that I could be taken to the advanced email setting screen. However, even in that screen I only have the option to manually enter the email server (imap.google.com). There is no option to enter the port number. It looks like that option existed in the past but RIM has now assumed that every email server uses standard port number (110, 113) and totally removed that option. This is the stupidest thing I have ever seen. Why don't you let us manually enter the port number when the system fails to find the right one? All other email clients let us do that (outlook, thunderbird, and heck even iphone). This is epic fail from RIM here.

    I can maintain entries in the table, and it will take host and port from here.
    Port is okay.
    But for load balancing, sometimes my host is like this:
    abc1234.xyz.com.sg
    My actual host which is doing load balancing is : abc.xyz.com.sg
    So if incoming URL is like this: abc1234.xyz.com.sg:100, I want it to change to abc.xyz.com.sg:200.
    All seems well, but there is this line of code: '
        LOOP AT httpurlloc ASSIGNING <httpurlloc>.
        If specified, match string against (possible wildcard '*' in) table.
          CHECK application IS INITIAL OR <httpurlloc>-applicatn IS INITIAL OR application CP <httpurlloc>-applicatn.
          CHECK for_domain  IS INITIAL OR <httpurlloc>-for_domain IS INITIAL OR for_domain  CP <httpurlloc>-for_domain.
          CHECK host_header IS INITIAL OR host_header CP <httpurlloc>-host.
    The last line gives host header as abc1234.xyz.com.sg. So if I maintain my host as abc.xyz.com.sg, it does not go ahead.
    I cannot maintain abc1234.xyz.com.sg. Now I am stuck.
    Can advise how to go about it?

    How do I configure a specific port number to the telnet service other than the default port number.  I opened /System/Library/LaunchDaemon/telnet.plist with XCode but it won't let me modify the port number.  Is there another place / item that I need to go to?

    Telnet is obsolete and insecure. Use ssh instead.

  • How to know the port number to which the server process is listening

    I have created oracle 10g Release 1 database(orcl) in Windows Xp Professional edition through DBCA . I also created one more database(sample) manually .
    The ORCL server process listens to port no 1521 and
    SAMPLE server process listens to port no 1522
    Once I start the OracleServiceORCL (Service for orcl) from services.msc and check the listener status it displays
    Service "orcl" has 1 instance(s).
    Instance "orcl", status READY, has 1 handler(s) for this service...
    But when I start OracleServiceSAMPLE (Service for sample) from services.exe and check the listener status there is no change . Only when i start the instance the dynamic registration takes place with port no 1521 .
    There is no entry for listener parameter in init.ora file . My question is how is the service ORCL able to get itself registered with the listener even before the instance is up ?
    And how can i know which port no is linked with which server process?
    Also if we provide a different port number(other than 1521 say 1522) in tnsnames.ora for a service and consider the listener is listening to both 1521 and 1522 . Now consider that port number 1521 is free . In this case to which port number will the service be listening to ?

    The status tells you the instance is up. Starting the service often means the instance gets started also, but whatever "often" means, "READY" means "The instance is up, running and taking callers".
    Your statement that "ORCL [is] able to get itself registered with the listener even before the instance is up" is therefore factually incorrect: you started the service, that started the instance. The instance is up and running. Instances that aren't running don't exist. Things which don't exist don't register themselves. Things which HAVE registered themselves therefore do exist.. and if they say they are "ready", it means they are completely, 100% up and running and behaving quite normally.
    I have not set LOCAL_LISTENER initialization parameter.How is this happening ?
    You only need to set LOCAL_LISTENER if (a) you're not using TCP/IP, (b) you're not using port 1521. Otherwise, PMON is hard-coded to register itself with listeners running on port 1521 and using TCP/IP and you don't need to set LOCAL_LISTENER to achieve that.
    Server Processes do not listen. Listeners do (there's a clue in their name). Listeners receive a call to connect to an instance, they spawn a server process to handle your call, and then they connect you to that server process (or send a message back to you telling you how to contact the server process). Each server process of course receives communications from its dedicated client on a specific port (usually in the 50000+ range), and that port is chosen randomly by the listener when it's spawning it. It's a bit blurry and vague to call that server process port a port on which server processes "listen", however.
    If you're talking dedicated server, each client causes one new server process to be spawned, and there is a one-to-one correspondence between server processes and the port that server process happens to accept client communications on.
    If you're going to ask a listener to do listening duty on multiple ports, I'd first question your need to do that and I'd then point out that unless your client tnsnames.ora knows to talk on the second or subsequent port numbers, the listener is never actually going to make use of that second port.
    In either case, the port the listener listens on has nothing whatsoever to do with the port your client-to-server-process communication ends up taking place   • M72E - Display Port specificat​ions

    Hey,
    I had a question regarding the Display Port on the M72E mini. Basically, we have a special request where we need to support 4 monitors on one M72e. My first idea was using USB to VGAadapters but that was a spectacular failure. The 2.0 USB connector seemed to be a serious bottleneck. It was somewhat laggy and video players crashed as soon as they were rendered on the second screen.
    Our second attempt will be to use a Display Port hub with 3 DP connectors. Basically, I'd use the on-board DP to feed the 3 port hub and use the VGA adapter for the fourth screen. Unfortunately, documentation on the DP has been rather poor. I have no idea if it's 1.1 or 1.2 rated or if my idea is even going to work. The documentation mention support for "Multi-Display" but that seems rather generic.
    Has anyone been successful using a DP hub with the M72e?

    Thanks for response.  Thought that was true,, except the tech support for HDTV manufacturer suggested to use vga and figured that was wrong.  I am having problems deterining if the HDTV itself is as advertised and on box Ultra 4K and 120 hz.  No where in the manual except a small comment regarding using 4K hdmi cables does it list the resolution or the refresh rate.   A few different reasons I am suspecting a con.
    Through the AMD Engine control I connect very easily with duplicate and external only.  Extended gets me eveything on the external and only a magnified version of my background on my laptop.  Do you know how to get it to function with say the dvd player on external and internet access or grapics programs in case I want to watch a movie while doing some other work.  Not always need nor in mood to use such large screen for graphics/internet work.
    Also, my laptop only has 1 hdmi port.  Is there a way to connect another and will doing so reduce the output.
    I know the output capabilities are important.
    Do you know any info on the specs for the hdmi and vga ports.  Spent hours getting transfered, mis-routed and never connected to any one who would give me even a case number trying to find out simply spec information that we were taught in the 70's in basic mini-semester computer classes how to find easily in any computer manual.
    This computer has no manual with it and windows operating system help is near useless.

  • Mini DIsplay Port on MBP (MacBookPro6,2) does not seem to work

    The Mini DIsplay Port on our office's new MBP (MacBookPro6,2) does not work with the office Toshiba projector, (several years old - 800x600 VGA) that I use for presentations. We have used a variety of MBPs with this projector over the years, they have always worked fine.
    With the new MBP, we are using a new Apple (not 3rd party) Mini Display Port (MDP) to VGA Adaptor. When connected, projector says "No Signal".
    The workaround is to copy the presentation to my personal MacBook Air 11" (MBA) and connect the projector using the same adapter. Just disconnect the MDP adaptor from MBP and connect to the MBA. This seems very strange behavior for a two week old MBP. Is this a known problem with the MBPs? Thanks.

    OK, I think I figured this one out. I have a utility installed called "gfxCardStatus v.1.8.1". This enables you to manually switch the active graphics cards between "Intel Only", "NVIDIA Only" or to allow the MBP to "Dynamically" switch the card. I had the card set manually to "Intel Only". On this setting, the projector did not sense a signal. Upon switching to "NVIDIA Only" the projector sensed a signal and worked just fine. I did not test the "Dynamic Switching".

    Depends on your model TV.   Read your TV user manual.  The newer models have "how to hookup" instructions for computer & games.

    You may have the screen refresh rate set higher than the TV is generally able to track reliably. It may be able to get there most times, but occasionally loses sync because it is out of its nominal range.
    I suggest you sit down with the manual for the TV and find out what resolutions at what refresh rates it intends to support through VGA, and make sure your screen settings are near (or below) those limits.

  • Mini Display Port to VGA Adapter Resolution Issue

    Hi there folks, I just had to replace my NVIDIA 8800 so I opted for the upgrade to the ATI Radeon HD 5770 (Apple part number: MC742ZM/A)
    I have two monitors on my desk, an apple 30" cinima display and a smaller 19" Hyundai monitor that uses a VGA connection as my second display.
    After hooking up my Cinima Display to the DVI, and the Hyundai to the Mini Display Port via adapter and restarting my Mac the second monitor does not show up. Well, It appears on the arangement screen, and on the system profile screen, but no image appears.
    If I unpluged and replugged the monitor  then I can get an image to appear. Only I cannot change the resolution from 800x600. The monitor supports 1900x1200.  I can see the correct resolution in the list, however selecting that resolution will not stay. It always reverts back to 800x600. I tried several other lower resolutions and none of those work either.
    I zaped the PRAM, checked for system updates, hopped on one leg and cursed the gods but nothing has worked so far. I can give tech support a call tomorrow, but I was hoping someone on the forum knows of a solution since I know many of you are smarter than the tech support folks.

    I had the exact same problem. It actually escalated from there and it would crash at the startup screen (the white one with the apple and the spinning gear). The only way I was able to fix this was to reformat the entire computer. I was lucky enough to have backed up all my data when it first started crashing. I've only reformatted yesterday and things seem fine for now. I don't know what caused it, or how to fix the problem any other way.
