Manually removed DP from package content location

Wanna ask, i did a manual remove on one of my problem DP from the package content location properties by selecting the DP and click on the remove button. Initially i target this package to install to a DP group and this problem DP is also part of the
DP group. Once removed, the DP dissapears from the content location list.
But the problem comes when i want to redistribute again to this DP. I select the package and just distribute to that particular DP only. After a few days, im still unable to see the DP in the content location list. Is this the correct way to remove the package
from the DP that is in a DP group? Anyway to solve this?

You could use Content Library Explorer in ConfigMgr SCCM 2012 R2 Tool to check the status the package on the DP.
Please try to Update Distribution Points(right click package) and monitor the Distmgr.log.

Removing book from Adobe Content Server

I would like to remove book from Adobe Content Server. I used answers from that thread http://forums.adobe.com/thread/621994 .I successfully removed book from distributor inventory but can not remove it from operator (built-in distributor) inventory. I got this error:

Finally, I found a way to remove book from adobe content server. This article Public Knowledge Base helped me a lot.
So, in order to remove book from acs you need to make 4 requests:
- request to admin/ManageDistributionRights with distributor ID
- request to admin/ManageDistributionRights built-in distributor ID
- request to admin/ManageResourceItem
- request to admin/ManageResourceKey
This is how my requests look like:

Value of "resourceItem" tag is important. Actually I didn't find description in documentation what this tag means. I found that this is optional resource item index and that default value is 1. But when I send delete request with 1 in <resourceItem> the last request, which remove resource key, return error. If you know what this tag mean please answer in this thread.

Copying part of Library intact from Package contents?

We have a problem with one of our disks in a 2006 Mac Pro and want to copy parts of the "package Contents" using Finder to allow import into Aperture using older Clone to restore new content into Aperture.
1) What content from the "Package" should I copy in order to then import (? how?) in order to preserve the work done on some of the images such as ratings and cropping etc...?
2) Notice that imgaes deleted in Aperture still remained in the Package contents. Is that because Aperture was not closed down properly before this incident happened or is this normal... keeping deleted images in the Package Content that have been deleted?

Pretty much all the files/folders in the Aperture library are needed.
It's not clear from your post just want the problem is. If the disk is bad how is that you are able to copy some of the library but not the whole thing? You should copy as mush as you can and see where you are after that.
You could ditch the Previews and Thumbnails folders. Possibly the Aperture.aplib folder. A few others. But in order to import the remaining data into another library you need the old recovered data in a library that Aperture can open. You can't manually merge the files into the other library.
You can try this: Create a new empty Library, then replace the Masters and Database folders in the new library with those folders from the old library, then start Aperture while holding down the option and comand keys and run Rebuild. If the library opens after that you should be OK.

Please clear the entire UWL cache from the UWL administration page. The
issue will be resolved.

In the UWL you can see the Creation date and time for these dummy
workitems. Execute SWIA transaction for this date and time. In the list

How do I manually remove CD from flat screen i-mac

Disc is not showing up on the screen and cannot eject it - have tried all keyboard/eject combos. Reset PRAM, tried eject prompt in terminal - Superdrive appears to be dead. Any suggestion to manually remove the disc? I need to retrieve data on it.

Have had same basic problem. Here's how I got the disk out. Go to Application Folder and open Utilities Folder. Then open Disk Utilities. On the left of the screen you'll see a list of your drives including the DVD drive with the disk that is in it. Highlight the disk and click on the eject button at the top of the screen. The disk should come out if the drive has not failed. Good luck. This is a real pain but this worked for me. It's simple once you do it.

Manually removing CD from drive

Well, I screwed up during Bootcamp install. I now have the XP CD in the drive, and powered down. When I turn the Macbook Pro back on, I get a "disk error" and nothing I do will remove the CD. The only recourse I have is to hold the power button down until it turns off, but every time I try to turn it on I get the same error message. Is there a manual way to remove the CD from the drive?

The OP stated the computer would not boot up (from the internal HDD), and with an optical disc stuck in the drive, booting from the Mac OS X DVD to launch DU would not work either. Now, if the OP had a bootable clone of his system on an external hard drive handy, then the MBP could have been booted from that, and DU run and used to eject the disc - but that was probably not the case, and certainly not the easiest solution in this instance.

With older versions of itunes i was able to right click on the content that i wanted to remove and select delete. I for the life of me can not figure out how to remove content with itunes 11. i have a lot of apple devices , iphone,ipad,ipod touch, and so on and so on. I am so frusterated that i feel like thowing it all in the garbage and starting over with another product.

Everything works the same in iTunes 11 as in previous versions.

Cycle Counts - Manually schedule by From and To Locator

We run Cycle Counts for a range of stock locators. However, when manually scheduling a Cycle Count, the only option is to enter locators one by one. So, if one subinventory has 300 stock locators and we'd like to count only 200 of them, we'd have to enter each locator. We are finding this very impractical. Hoping someone has come across this and thought of something innovative - as we can only think of using Dataload to load the locators.

I Just purchased a NOS ipod 5.5 brand new in factory sealed packaging from an apple dealer. I charged the unit overnight but the battery will not hold a charge. I read the Apple warranty and expect Apple to honor the warranty to the original end user purchaser (me). however I do not want to give up this iPod for a newer model because I love the sound from the Wolfson board. The newer iPods sound horrible and give me headaches. Does Apple still provide batteries for the 5.5 30 gb iPod? Or am I out of luck due to obsolescence? Thanks in advance!

I feel your angst, especially, knowing that Apple has become the most profitable company in the world, by selling us products that breaks down when the warranty run out, and crap service staff, who doesn't know anything about the iPod Classic, except offer to sell us refurbished iPod classic.
You can get the Battery replaced at 3rd Party store for less.
BTW, (most contributors might not agree with me) if you recharged your iPod everyday, it will be dead just 2 months after the warranty expires. My logic, the iPod battery will last for about 400 recharge cycles according to Apple Specs listed below

A properly maintained iPod battery is designed to retain up to 80% of its original capacity at 400 full charge and discharge cycles
So if your lifestyle is plugin in to car Audio dock, while driving, and plug in to home stereo while home, then it is 2-3 charge cycles per day.
But then you cant do anything about it, just switch to another media player.

How to disable Show Package Contents option?

One of the kids at the school I manage figured out how to unlock any program I've disabled via Workgroup Manager by editing a certain string in the info.plist file found within the packages of all applications. So I would like to remove the "Show Package Contents" option from the contextual menu in the Finder on all of the kids' machines. Is there perhaps some terminal command I could push out to the MacBooks via Apple Remote Desktop? Some hidden trick in Workgroup Manager? Any help is greatly appreciated!

Unfortunately, you can't remove it (However you could rename it to something else). Here is a workaround to your problem.
1. Make sure all applications you want to manage are in a folder that your users have read only access to (such as /Applications).
2. By default, any properly installed app will have permissions root:admin rwxrwxr-x. If not, make sure they do.
3. In the terminal cd into /Applications/___.app/Contents/MacOS
4. Run the command: sudo chmod o-r _____ (Fill in the blank with the name of the app without the .app extention).
Here is the logic behind this. As long as the apps are in a folder the users only have read access to, such as /Applications, the only way they can edit that info.plist file is to copy the app to their home directory and then edit it. You are now preventing this by taking away their read (and therefore copy) ability to the most important part of the application, the executable. Now they will still be able to execute the app but not read/copy it. If they try, they will need to provide an admin code.

Remove DRM from Independent Labels

One way that Apple can show that it takes seriously the topics brought up in Steve Jobs's article, "Thoughts on Music", is to remove DRM from all material where the content producer did not specifically ask for it.
There are many independent labels who wish their music to be as open as possible to a broader community. DRM gets between them and their customers.
Please consider removing DRM from all content where the content producer did not request or require it.

It wont happen. Apple has DRM accross the board is to offer a consistant product. Lets face the facts that if 90% of all music is required DRM (shot in the dark) people who dont get the DRM thng (most customers) will be totaly lost if only a few songs have DRM and others dont. Apple stripping DRM from music that doesnt require them means very little to the Recording companies anyway.

Removing Apps from Mac and iPhone/iPad

Hi all.
Can someone advise the best way to completely remove unwanted apps please?
The issue I have is that if I remove the app from my iPhone/iPad and then sync my phone with my iMac, the app just gets put back on the iPhone/iPad.
If I remove it from the App library, the app seems to just stay on the iPhone/iPad.
The only way that works is if I manually remove it from the iPhone/iPad and iMac..
Anyone have an idea of a better way, as scrolling through 350-500 apps (twice) to determine which ones I want to get rid of is a little painful.
