Manually Run iTunes w/ Search Criteria

I need to know how to manually run iTunes with a search string.
*What I already know:*
If I place a shortcut to iTunes.exe in "WINDOWS\system32" and then type "iTunes" in the Run dialog... iTunes opens like magic!
Is there something I could type in after "iTunes" in the Run dialog to get iTunes to automatically display search criteria?
*I imagine it would look something like this:*
+Start > Run > "iTunes /search {criteria goes here}" > Enter+
Then I imagine iTunes would open with the criteria already entered into the search bar and the library already narrowed down to those keywords.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance,
Eric

Thank you both for the courtesy of your replies.
I absolutely will delete there cookies, though I'm guessing if I launch iTunes in the future it will not continue to show/link to their credit.
I was shocked that they could launch a different application, not just pop up a window withing Safari. I wonder what the potential is for exploits here...
That is my #1 concern.
Again. Thank you both.
It would be a cold day in Hades before I'd buy anything from iTunes after having it open w/o my request...if they'd put a click here to link to iTunes on their page and I clicked through that'd be one thing, but that is just downright slimey!!!!

  • Search criteria on manually created tabular form

    Hi All,
    Apex v4.0
    DB 11g
In a page I have created one manually tabular form using collection .
My requirement is :- Search criteria on the form based on 3 column field of that form.
I tried to use LIKE, EQUAL in the select statement of the query. BUT search option is not working .
When I tried to search ,it doesn't return anything.
But its working on wizard base TF.
I am not sure this one option for search criteria on the manually created TF.
Kindly suggest any other way we can achieve it.
    Thanks in Advance !!!
    Regards,
    Amu

Remember that the values on an apex page is only accessible once you submit your page.
And for tabular forms the values needs to be processed to the apex collections after you submit.
For better understanding what happens inside the collections I suggest that you always make a conditional report with
    select * from apex_collectionsand Condition
Where Value of item in expression1 = Expression2
    Expression1
    DEBUGExpression2
YESThis way you can show the content of your collections easily by just enabling debug.

  • ITunes (11 I think) in smart playlists and folders won't apply the "Last Played" search criteria in real time.  Please fix!!!

The major iTunes recent makeover, generally *****.
It's ugly to look at; it's grey and blue-grey and more grey.  god, how drab can you get.  You know how in the Finder we can assign colors to files, folders & applications.  It would be fantastic to be able to do that to playlists and the folders of playlists within iTunes.  Please add some color!  And/Or let us choose the color format for our personal copy of iTunes, like some browsers do.
But more importantly I have some rather sophisticated smart playlists; many of which source other (smart) playlists & folders of playlists in my collection.  With this current iTunes makeover (iTunes version 11 I think), they screwed something up.  None of my smart playlists will apply in real time the "Last Played" search criteria.  This is very annoying.  Please, please fix it.
And how about the ability to duplicate a playlist, to make new playlist.  Not to have two of the same playlists, but so the second one can then be edited to something similar to the first (as opposed to having to build a new similar sophisticated playlist from scratch).  This would save a lot of time in some cases.

  • ITunes 10 randomly forgets my search criteria

I wonder if anyone else has noticed this. Since updating to iTunes 10, it randomly forgets my search criteria while listening to music on shuffle. For example, if I type in Hot Chip then play in shuffle, it plays a few Hot Chip songs then goes back to my entire library. I then have to search again. Annoying. Is this a glitch or is there some new box I have to tick?

I thought is was just me. But I've come across the same problem. It seems random to me. So I'm not sure it's Itunes, and not me interfering with the search query when working in a other program.
    I currently use V10.0.1.22

  • Running search criteria from JDevloper

    Hello,
i am running a default E-Business Suite page from JDevloper with a search criteria and the same page from the deployed deployed E-Business Suite on the server using the same DB connection and the same responsibility key.
the weird thing is that i am getting different results when i click the search button. running search from JDeveloper is not giving me any results in the grid while running the same search from the server returns couple of records i have in DB.
    any ideas why?

    i found the problem.
the advanced table was giving an exception on initialization when there is sorting is allowed.
i disabled sorting so it will initialize without an error. it worked :)
    thanks

  • How do I manually delete iTunes when I want to re-install the latest program? Error says I have no permission so how can I get permission?

How do I manually delete iTunes and all its bits prior to re-installing the version 11 when I get a message saying I don't have permission.
I am the sole owner of my p.c. and nobody else uses it. How do I "get permission" from my own p.c.?
The p.c. is a Dell Vostro running windows 7 (64 bit) After giving up and exiting iTunes there was an error notification saying msvcr 80 is missing from your computer...Also, when I went (blindly) to administrators etc there was a red question mark against a gobbledegook long line apart from David pc which is me. Would this be some malevelant thing? Help!

    Hi David,
Open the start menu, then select Control Panel in the right hand column. Open the Programs and Features section, type Apple in the search box at top right. You need to uninstall the components in the order suggested in the user tip.
Once all have been uninstalled reboot and use Windows Explorer to locate the named folders and delete them. Then reinstall.

  • Trying to update iTunes, the installer keeps freezing at 'Running iTunes Installer Scripts'.  i've tried several different versions of iTunes and can't install any of them.  I'm stuck with Version 4!!  Help!

I'm trying to update iTunes on my mac (Power Mac G5 running tiger), but it always freezes at 'Running itunes installer script'.  I have tried a few different versions of iTunes, but I have the same problem with all of them.  I'm stuck on version 4 (which came with my os discs)!  Help?!

Ok, First this link should solve the windows scripting host error. I used "Download windows script host" in a google search and it was the first hyperlink.

I'm assuming you are trying to run the installer from apple. What I would suggest is you download the installer manually to your desktop then launch the installer. If try to run the installer over the intertubes you may run into a problem like you did.
Then I would uninstall itunes 8 and any software associated with it like the apple update software, quicktime, apple mobile device support. However uninstalling itunes should remove any additional software it installs. Then clean out your temp folder:
    6. Clean out your temp folders,
    a. C:\windows\temp (if one exists)
    b. C:\Documents and Settings\{username}\Local Settings\Temp
Sometimes installers will pick up old files or won’t delete their temporary files.
Then with a newly download installer on your desktop try launching it. Let me know if that helps.
Here is an apple doc that help.

  • Read & Applied Other Threads Win Still Fatally Crashes When Running iTunes

I updated all the drivers on the system to the latest from the manufacturer websites yesterday. I then installed and ran WinDbg it is telling me RtkHDAud.sys (R+k HDAud+179e98) is the culprit causing a double fault. When I disable Realtek High Definition Audio in Device Manager my PC runs all day no hitches. I can even open iTunes and have it run in the background without trouble BUT of course I can't hear anything. Soon as I enable the audio card and run iTunes the system won't stay up for more than four minutes sometimes less. I can run Winamp without trouble BUT I DON'T WANT TO ! I have my iTunes library on an external Western Digital USB Hard Disk Drive, maybe this is the problem? Any direction I could try would be greatly appreciated. Best solution I can think of at this point is to get a squeeze box and just take the sound card out? Here is the Mini Dump from WinDbg

I haven't a clue about this but one thing I would suggest is to try running Quicktime and playing audio,
It is possible that Quicktime is the culprit not iTunes as iTunes uses QUicktime to play music.
If it is quicktime and you really have installed the latest High Definition audio driver, then it probably worth trying a complete removal of QUicktime according to the method in this article. It is important to remove the Quicktime files from the system32 folder as recommended in the article.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1925
Then download and install the stand alone version of Quicktime.
    http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/win.html
It might also be worth going to your QUicktime preferences audio tab and checking safe mode to see if that makes any difference.

  • Error Messages when trying to install, uninstall or run iTunes 9

I get the following error message when trying to Install iTunes:
The path C:\DOCUME~1\Frank\LOCALS~1\Temp\IXP206.TMP\iTunes.msi cannot be found. Verify that you have access to this location and try again, or try to find the installation package 'iTunes.msi' in a folder from which you can install the product iTunes.
I search my entire computer for the file but it's not there.
Then, when I try to uninstall the iTunes and start the install from scratch I get another error:
"The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable"
Catch-22, I can't install or uninstall and when I try to run iTunes I get:
"The action is only valid for products that are installed"
Very frustrating but I'm stumped and I don't know how to proceed. Any help would be very much appreciated.

wooooooooo!!! got it working again!! having spent the last 6 hours..no joke six f*cking hours trying to sort it ive finally got iTunes back!!
ok here is what you need to do:
go to the link below and download the Microsoft Windows Installer CleanUp Facility.
    http://www.locksleynet.com/2009/06/09/missing-itunesmsi-problem-resolved/
once you have downloaded it, install it and run it from the start menu. once its up and running remove everything to do with iTunes (so iTunes itself, quicktime, bonjour......the lot). Dont worry about removing iTunes completely, all the music is still there when it works again trust me!!
ok once you have removed everything restart your computer, im not sure if this is a must but i did it.
next download quicktime from the apple website (go to the 'downloads' tab near the top. download and install quicktime and restart your computer so the new settings are put in to place ( i think it asks you to restart anyway).
go back to the apple website, 'downloads' tab and download iTunes itself. install that bad boy and you will be up and running with all your library intact!
Hope it works for you mate!

  • I am havign huge problems getting itunes 11.1.4 working on my windows 7 laptop. I have run itunes for some years, and regularly updated it when prompted. I have followed many of the suggestions e.g. uninstalling reinstalling, etc

I have spent hours trying to get itunes working on my laptop.
The only functinoality I crave is to be able to get pictures off my iphone 5 (which has the latest ios installed.), as almost all other functinoality of itunes I find painful beyond belief. It has the worst ergonomics I think of any software I have ever used, which is bizarely at odds with the mobile decvices, which by and large work quite nicely (indeed, why I bought them!)
My laptop runs windows 7. It has all the latest microsoft updates installed (I am religious about this: it always has had.)
I have run itunes on this machine for some years, regularly updating when I am prompted to.
A few days back i was prompted to update to 11.1.4
It failed to install badly. whatever I try at some point during the install process the installer just hangs, or never terminates.
All communication between computer and iphone functionality has been lost.
Nothing eles on my machine is behaving oddly. slowly etc. it is only apple stuff that isn't working.
I googled and found a lot of recurring themes on apple forums:
    So far I have tried:
uninstalling / reinstalling. (hangs during installation).
Restarting the machine between uninstall and reinstall.
Searching and removing any directories/ contents related to apple, after the uninstall, prior to machine reboot.
I have even used iobit uninstaller, as removing apple software as you know is almost impossible (ever tried disabbling the quicktime updater that runs at startup? it's like a virus !!)
I have removed all apple software incl quicktime.
I have tried the microsoft software installer fixit link often posted to.
i have tried unpacking the apple installation file, using the latest version of winrar, to try installing one at a time.
I have found the installation is very very very slow (it looks as though it hangs, but i leave it running in the background, after 15-20 minutes, the status starts advancing for example). so far I have managed to install the first few components up to applesoftware  update, msi, and they seem to need to be run multiple times.
(this last one took about 40 minutes).
I have been very careful to install / uninstall the software components int eh "prescribed" order.
I have tried each step multiple times, rebooting the machine numerous times, cleaning temp folders (with ccleaner) etc.
I ave tried installing when my virus checker AVG is disabled.
(i have virus checked the machine with AVG and malware bytes, I have the latest microsft security essential updates installed.)
I ahve tried stopping apple services (as suggested in one of the apple forum posts).
As you can gather I'm seriously tearing my hair out.
I presume there is some kind of generic bug in this installer: as a friend had exactly the same problem on sunday night, with a different machine, running windows 7, and a couple of her colleagues at work has had the self same problem over the weekend, though none of them seem to have gone to the lengths I have yet !
I tried doing a system restore, but my machine seems to have lunched all previous system restore points, so I can't . Arrrrrgggg !
Is an older version of itunes available so i can install that instead ?
What should I do next ?

  • I've got TWO problems when trying to run iTunes

I've been trying to solve them separately, but each one of the answers requires for the other problem to be solved, and I am desperate. I've recently (one week ago) bought an iPad mini and I regret buying it, since I can't sync it to my computer. I don't even know what to do anymore, and its been TWO WEEKS of constantly trying.
The problem started when I tried updating iTunes as usual via the Apple updater. Somehow it gave me an error message, so I did as told by the program and downloaded it manually. After that, I got an R6034 error. Following a thread's advice, I uninstalled every Apple-related program in my computer, even did some cleaning-up, just in case. I reinstalled it, and when I thought I was done, an error popped up claiming that I don't have sufficient privileges to start system services, so Apple Mobile Device failed to start. I tried to fix this, but the R6034 error keeps popping up EVERY time I try to install or even RUN iTunes.
What should I do? All my music is in this computer, and I am even thinking about asking for a refund on my iPad and iPod. iTunes has never given me trouble and I've been using it for at least 5 years, but this problem is big enough to make me reconsider whether or not use it.

I have a desk top which has Windows Vista.  On this computer I have been running Itunes for a long time.  My new computer is a Lap top and it runs Windows 7.
I recently loaded Itune on the new computer. I attemted to use Easy Transfer to transfer my Music but was unable to connected the two computers so I transferred my music to a external hard drive and loaded the music on the new computer.  I have the folders and files carefully and they appear to match.  When I try to run Itunes on the new computer I am unable to access the new music.  Itune always goes to the sample music.  The only difference I can come up with is Windows Vista and Windows 7.  Does anyone have any suggestions?

    Hi,
Are you trying to use the Help -> Updates method?
Both those patches need to be manually applied to PSE 9.
