Manually Sync Music

My iPod nano (3rd Gen) is having problems with the " manually sync music" option via iTunes. It is causing my computer to freeze up for a while and has not had the ablity for me to use the " manually sync music" option. Does anyone know how to use the " manually sync music" without crashing iTunes??
My iTunes version is: 11.0.1

I also am having this problemwith the new version of itunes. When I want to choose manually sync, itunes gves me this threatening windowsaying that all of my music will be taken off my ipod. I just want to add new songs just purchased!
Used to be that you could buy new songs, have your screen with the attached ipod open, and then drag and drop, but I am not seeing where I can do that any more. It looks like the connected ipod icon is at the top left hand, but it doesnt appear to have the drag and drop capability when I click on that screen. My recently purchased playlist remains blank!

  • New iTunes will not allow me to manually sync music to Iphone 4s

I had to change my computer's hard disk which is a mac, I updated itunes as I had done before with my other hard disk, but now my itunes will not allow me to manage anything in my iphone 4s. I cannot manually sync music to my iphone as I used to, not even the option "ADD TO" appears when you click on the "On this phone" tab. I was wondering what I have to do for my itunes to recognize that it is my phone.

It gets stuck at preparing to update every time I try.

  • Itunes will not manually sync music with my Iphone 5

I am trying to manually sync music from ITunes and my Iphone5. From the Info screen I have selected the option to manually sync music and video files. From the music screen I have selected the option to sync selected artists, etc. I selected some of my music and was conscious to leave room for all the other items on my phone (per the storage bar at the bottom of the screen). When I select 'Sync' at the bottom of the screen, ITunes goes through all of the steps to sync and seems to complete. However nothing is copied over to my phone and I do not see any of the titles being transferred in the status bar. Additionally, I am receiving an error message that states I do not have enough disk space to complete the transfer and that an additional 4GB is required. However, I have a very small amount of music scheduled to transfer and the status bar that tracks available space still has over 7GB available with my selections made. I appear to have ample disk space yet the phone will not update any music at all.  Please help if you can. Thank you.

I have the exact same problem. My Iphone is always synced by connecting to my computer because I don't want anything on the cloud. All of the sudden the yellow "other" part of the bar showing what's on my phone  will fill up the right half of the bar even though I haven't added anything. I have emptied the phone  of all it's content one category at a time to try to identify what the "OTHER" is. I remove all the apps, them Music and so on. It doesn't work and the yellow bar stays showing it is taking up half the space on my phone. So then I put the settings back the way they were, which should leave about a quarter of my storage space free. Then I do a reset of my phone and after two hours ( that's how long it takes) The "other" yellow bar goes back down to taking up about 1/20 of space on my IPhone even though I haven't made any changes. The only reason I sync at all is to add music to my phone that I've added to my main library on ITunes. This is so frustrating and a huge wast of my time! Can someone tell me haw to stop this please?

  • TS4062 When manually syncing music from my mac to my iPod touch, when I delete tunes from my manual list and hit apply, these songs remain on my iPod?

When manually syncing music from my Mac to my ipod, if I delete from my list and hit apply, the songs are remaining on my ipod? It just started doing this.

You need to select the songs on the iPod (in iTunes) and hit Delete.
Since you are Manually managing, Apply doesn't do anything to Music on the iPod.

  • Manually synced music not showing up under the artist

When I manually add songs to my iphone 4 from my iTunes library they are not showing up on my phone under when I go to the artist.  Oddly, when I search for the song title the song will come up and it plays, and it shows the artist name correctly when it is playing.  I updated both iTunes and the phone. I've done a reset.  I've deleted the songs in question from the phone and then re-added them, only to have the same problem.
This problem doesn't happen with every song I add, but it always happens to the same songs.  When I sync the phone, I can find them in the phone window of iTunes and they're there correctly sorted by artist (and play fine)!  These songs are CD imports (not iTunes purchases).  I have "manually manage music" on, and iCoud is off.
    Thanks!

Are they marked as 'Part of a compilation' when you look at the song info on iTunes? This is quite common in some albums like soundtracks.  If yes, then you'll probably find them under 'Various Artists' in the Artist section.
You can uncheck the compilation box if you wish, that should do the trick.

  • Reformatted PC - now can't manually 'sync' music tracks.

I use iTunes and manually 'sync' my iPod & iPhone with my HP laptop - this has worked fine for years. I have now reformatted my laptop (with Win 7) and reloaded iTunes. Now for both devices, the music is greyed out and I can't change or add music tracks (manually) without iTunes wiping all the music. How can I now manually add/delete tracks?
    Thanks.

    Wow, that's ridiculous.
I don't understand why it wont just let me manually manage my music and videos, this is absolutely ridiculous.
I've never managed my iphone by syncing so why won't it let me just manually manage makes NO sense.
And because I have a ton of smart playlists on my iphone and I make my playlists on my phone because most of my playlists are smart playlists (Like for example I have my 4 star rated songs and 5 star ones)and I make my playlists mostly on the bus to school. I really don't want to lose my playlists my iphone is so properly organized and right now your saying I'm essentially going to lose all that if I want to add any more music.
    This is unnacceptable apple.

  • ITunes will not manually sync music onto my iPhone 5. When I drag my music onto the iPhone, the icon "bounces" and then the sidebar closes, not syncing the music.

I've tried restarting my computer, iTunes, unplugging my iPhone and nothing will fix it.

Also, some of the music I want to add to my iPhone will sync but some won't.

  • ITunes 10.2.1 Freezes while syncing music to iPhone 4 with iOS 4.3.1

I hooked up my iPhone 4 the other night to my computer to update it to the new iOS version 4.3.1. The entire time my iTunes would continually freeze and I would have to force quit it. Once I finally got it to stabilize I began to install the update with seemingly no problem. Then out of no where my phone slipped into recovery mode and it told me to restore it so that it could sync with iTunes. When I tried to restore it I received an error code 9 and iTunes informed me that a restore could not be completed. I ended up having to take it to a friend's house and restore on his iTunes without a hitch. I then came home and restored a back up with no trouble at all and had 4.3.1 on my phone. All was well until I realized no music synced.
Now when I try to sync music, I press the sync button and all goes well to begin with. The back up proceeds as normal. It transfers an app purchase that needs to be made and then the problem starts when it hits the music step. It begins syncing a song and then instantly iTunes freezes. The spinning arrows next to the device name stop and no progress is made whatsoever. I lose any kind of control over iTunes. In order to get it back I have to force quit it and restart it or manually disconnect my iPhone from the computer which is as we all know not healthy for it. Cancelling the sync from the phone does nothing at first but then after 15 minutes or so iTunes frees up again but never actually finishes the sync. It's stuck finishing it indefinitely. (In the time it took me to type all of this out and check it for errors it is still finishing indefinitely)
    I have tried:
    1) Restarting Computer
    2) Updating iTunes to the newest version
    3) Completely uninstalling and reinstalling all components of iTunes and Quicktime according to instructions from an article on Apple's support pages.
    4) Restoring the phone to a back up again to fix any possible corruption
    5) Checking only one song and trying to sync it to see if it was an quantity issue
    6) Manually syncing music
    7) Configuring Security Software
    8) Disabling security software
and probably others. Nothing seems to be working. I am unsure if it is an issue with the phone or with the computer and iTunes. I have not tried a complete just all out restore with no back up because I am hesitant to lose all my contacts, SMS messages, and pictures with their saved locations and from what I have read that will get me no where unless I want a completely wiped phone that can't sync music.
I'm out of ideas here so any support from you guys would be much appreciated. I have seen that others are experiencing similar issues so it may be a problem with the combination of iTunes 10.2.1 and iOS 4.3.1. If nothing works I guess it's a $30 phone call to Apple Support. Then again I don't know if that would fix anything either. Hopefully somebody somehwere has an answer.
    Thanks in advance,
    HSZ

After updating iTunes to 10.2.2 it wiped out my iPhone, iPad and iPad2 and it will not restore on another pc in the house.  I spent 6 hours restoring the iPhone but the iPad and iPad2 has taken 6 hours going thru every step in the support recommendations as well as 3  hours on the phone with 2 separate techs today.
I uninstalled and reinstalled, went thru with the tech and edited the registry as well as the msconfig.  Rebooted the PC's, reinstalled, uninstalled all of the anti virus software and did a limited start-up, all to no avail.
You cannot reinstall the last working version of iTunes because the library is synced with a later version - so I have 2 dead devices.
Other friends are experiencing the same problem and I know of 2 dozen others experiencing the same issues.
Apple needs to fix the latest update of iTunes!

  • IPhone 4s set to manually sync, but every time I try to put a single song on my phone it downloads my entire library. How do I sync individual songs without downloading entire iTunes library?

I recently purged my iPhone 4S of most of its music because I didn't have enough gigabytes of free space to download the latest iOS (my phone was actually completely full). That ticked me off but I didn't have time for a backup. I transferred all purchases to my library and I deleted the music from my phone.
Since then, I've been annoyed that I don't have all my music but I've been enjoying the free space that I have, so I prefer to restore songs from my library individually now, depending what I'm in the mood to hear, and I don't miss having a full phone.
However, whenever I try to manually sync music that was ripped from a CD, music I didn't download from iTunes, but is playable in my iTunes library, iTunes thinks it has to download the entire library, which I don't even have the space for, anyway. However, my iPhone seems fine wirelessly (I have Home Sharing turned on) syncing individual songs which were purchased in the iTunes store.
So whenever I try to sync a single song, or an album perhaps, which was not purchased on iTunes, I get the message "updating files on iphone" and it says it's copying all the thousands of songs in my entire library. But my settings are for manual sync only. I wind up cancelling the sync every time, because I would have to wait for it to finish copying thousands of songs before it got to the one I selected. Why on earth is it doing this?
How do I regain the ability to sync a single song at a time?
    This has been exasperating me.

While your iPhone is synching in iTunes, do the following:
    1.  Click on your iPhone's icon on the left.
    2.  Find and click on the "Tones" tab on the upper right of the iTunes display.
    3.  Choose the synch option you would like.

Standard steps from the manual are to restart, reset, restore.  which of those have you done?

  • IPhone won't sync music unless it's in a playlist

    Hi All,
When I first got my iPhone 3G I could drag music onto the iPhone icon in iTunes to put music on the phone. Now it won't do that for any of the music in my library. The only thing I can do is make a playlist for the iPhone and sync it. Any insight on what that problem might be and how to fix it?

I have the same problem. I did this and it doesn't work. When I check "manually sync music" then go to the Music tab and click sync, the sync occurs but nothing gets synced, and the "manually sync music" box is unchecked.

  • Cannot manually download music to my iPhone.

I bought songs off of iTunes and when I go to drag them to my iPhone to be downloaded, it doesn't form the blue box around it and let me download it to my iPhone. It doesn't say anything, it just won't let the song download. The iPhone is connected via USB.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks.

  • HT1202 unable to set iPod to manually sync

When I connect my iPod nano to my pc, I get prompted to restore it.  However, I do not wish to restore the iPod because I use another computer with it, also.
I located an Apple help file that guided me to the Summary tab within iTunes.  When I select the Summary tab for my iPod nano to set it to manually sync music, nothing happens.  I am operating iTunes 11.0.2.25.
    Please advise.
