Manualy remove dvd

Mac Pro 2010, os 10x 10.6.8
suddenly //   one day everything is functioning , two monitors, regular fix permissions,  etc
next day start up results in ... nothing...  is a video signal to one monitor but not the other, disconected the other.
only gray screen ,  no wheels or questions or faces
two years of use, thought Pram batt,  remove and check volts is 3.02 ( as new) but put in a new one anyway,  No Change in problem
try to safe start, cant =
try to boot to external dvd drive = no good
had a dvd in the computer , now cant get it out, ( old machines just push a wire in the "emergency" access hole)  with MacPro has the door that covers the drive,
other data: os is on ssd, 3 hds spin up, fan on video card spins, monitor recives gray screen signal, does "boing" at start up, note; to shut down I press the on button -- just one quick touch, as you would to start up, normaly to shut down with the button I need to hold it in for a three count.

I did discover the "how to retrieve the disk" part
first, gently pull the door downward and hold it down
second, take a slightly curved, paperclip that is bent to a slight curve so as to go down and into the access in the drive.
third, as the tray moves out only a half inch, pull with a little finger on the right side to open it
remove the cd/dvd
I inserted a retail X10.6  .... hold C down and boot,  still nothing but  a plain gray screen, no frown face, no question mark.

  • Remove DVD Drive on DX730

Need instructions for removing DVD drive on LX730 All In One.  Does not seem to have small screw like laptops have.  Need to remove to install HDD in optical bay using caddy from NEWMODEUS.  Already did so on Qosmio X505.  Also, would like to know where to get SERVICE manual for DX730 (not user manual).

Ok … got the DX-730 and looked it over myself.   There is a panel near the big V stand attachment point with a single small screw.  That looked suspiciously like a removable panel.  I removed the screw and pried along the top edge with a small flat screwdriver.  This disconnected the plastic retaining tabs, and I popped off the panel.  It was very similar to removing the memory panel.
Ah ha!  Upon inspection, I saw a small screw on a bracket near where one would think the DVD retaining screw would need to be.  Once removed, the DVD drive easily slid out.  Success!
I placed the ODHD caddy from NEWMODEUS into the optical bay.  (The ODHD caddy carries a SSD or HDD in an optical form-factor caddy, allowing a SSD/HDD to be mounted where the optical drive typically would be).  The optical bay uses one of the SATA channels.
Good news is that from within Windows 7 that second HDD is visible and usable.  Very nice way to add a second drive to these single-drive all-in-ones, that unlike laptops, don’t have two HDD bays built in.
Bad news is the BIOS does not see the HDD device as an optical device (well … it isn’t) and won’t boot from the second drive.  I wanted to run a second version of Windows, bootable from the physical second drive, but that is not possible.  However, I can have a second hard drive for data or backup, and that is good.  I can also use the ODHD caddy to carry the “external” HDD from computer-to-computer.
I am not a shill for NEWMODEUS; in fact, other companies make the same type of caddies.  I just had very good response and success from them.  I wanted to post my experience of getting to the screw that allows optical drive removal and share my success of adding a second hard drive.

  • Can I remove DVD Movie Factory for Toshiba

Is it safe to remove DVD MovieFactory for Toshiba in add and remove programs? Is removing it the same as deleting it?
I would like to remove it because I have never used it and "Ulead burning helper" in ""Services" keeps running in the background from this program.
    Thank you

what you could do is do a restore point, then uninstall the program.  If you find that you needed the program to watch dvds, you can always restore back to the restore point and no damage done.  Disabling the sevice is also another way to do it which is reversible.

  • Accidentally disabled and removed DVD player

I think I uninstalled/removed my DVD drive. I accidentally clicked on the add remove device icon on my toolbar and for some reason it uninstalled/removed the DVD drive completely, as if my computer doesn't have a disk drive and now the DVD drive won't read any disks. I tried going to the hardware properties to do the enable/disable thing, but it doesn't show up there. It's like I deleted it completely. Short of a reinstalling everything, what can I do to restore the functionality of the DVD drive?
I'm using a HP Pavilion DV4-1265dx laptop using windows 7.

    Hi,
First, try the automated fixit from Microsoft on the link below.
    Windows 7
Check if the drive is now working.
If it still doesn't work, click the Start Menu, open All Programs, open Accessories, right click the Command Prompt and select 'Run as Administrator'.  In to the prompt type the following command and hit enter.
sfc /scannow                 ( note that there is a space between sfc and the / )
Let the process complete, then type exit and hit enter.
Next, click the Start Menu, open the Control Panel and click on Device Manager.  Next click to open DVD/CD-ROM Drives.  Right click the drive and select uninstall.  Do not delete drivers if asked.  When the device has uninstalled click on the 'Scan for Hardware Changes' icon ( usually just below Help on the toolbar ).  Let windows reinstall the drive and see if it now works.

  • Unable to remove DVD drive from Pavillion Slimline S3015 UK - Help Required

We have a Pavillion Slimline PC model 3015 UK which we are about to upgrade the RAM Memory, inorder to access the RAM we need to remove the DVD drive.
OK having followed the support instruction here
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01049980&tmp_task=useCategory&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=u...
At present  the Drive is not moving forward even though the two cables are out and applying presure to the lever on the RH as per the instructions to release the DVD unit.
The model we have does not allow access to the LH side screws, if there is one holding the unit you cannot see it as there is another metal casing in the way.
YOur comments & advice most welcomed, we need to use the PC on a daily basis.
Whats the best route forward ?

To remove the dvd drive, the expansion slot below the dvd does have a brown lever you push on and then the expansion slot slides to the back of the computer and comes out.  And like the other comment says you will see the obvious screw underneath the dvd.  Once this is removed then DVD slides forward....

  • How do I remove DVD Player from my desktop?

Somehow I have the application "DVD Player" in Launchpad, in my Application folder, and on my Desktop.  I want to remove the icon from the desktop.  If I drag the icon from the desktop to the Trash, the application will not open in Launchpad or from the application folder.
What steps do I need to follow to remove this misplaced icon from my desktop?

Then, drag the app from the Desktop into Applications. Authenticate if requested. That'll fix that issue. As for LP, I don't use that screen real estate waster with it's gaudy icons. Over colored there, but missing on the sidebar and many apps. Nonsense.

  • Open a G500s / remove Dvd drive

    Hallo,
I'm desperately trying to remove the DvD drive of my Lenovo G500s. It's damaged and i want to replace it.
But unfortunately I can't figure out how to do this.
Most Notebooks have only one screw to fix the drive with the case but I lifted every possible screw and couldn't remove it.
Afterwards I tried to open the whole bottom plate but failed to do it.
Does anybody know the way to open the Notebook without damaging it?

  • Removing dvd-rom, installing superdrive

    Hi!
I just got a superdrive to load into my Powerbook G4 Titanium 15". I wonder if anyone knows how to remove the old drive? (I dont have any instructions.) Ive got the laptop upside down with the bottom off. (The only apparant way in.) But I cant find what is holding the dvd-rom in in order to remove it. Does anyone know how to get it out, or can direct me to some site that DOES have the instructions online? Im anxious to get this thing in TONIGHT. Thanks in advance!!!

Excellent well-illustrated take-apart guides are here. You'll need to know exactly which Powerbook you have in order to choose the right guide.
Don't try to substitute any other kinds or sizes of screwdrivers for the ones that are required — you'll wreck the tiny screws involved. You'll need a Phillips 0 and a Torx 8, and possibly a Torx 6 depending on which PB model you have.

  • Removing dvd from drive

I was in the process of installing leopard on my mini when everything froze. I can not boot my computer, and I cannot boot from the dvd. I need to remove the dvd. I've tried restarting while holding down the mouse button. Doesn't work. Is there a manual release somewhere? Thanks.

    Hello
I presume under the keyboard is a kind of switch that must be released and put out the ODD out of slot. A120 is new unit and I hope you know removing the keyboard you can cancel the warranty.

  • Removing DVDs

How do I remove a DVD from an iMAC drive when the eject button doesn't work?

Five ways to eject a stuck CD or DVD from the optical drive
Ejecting the stuck disc can usually be done in one of the following ways:
      1. Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the
left mouse button until the disc ejects.
      2. Press the Eject button on your keyboard.
      3. Click on the Eject button in the menubar.
      4. Press COMMAND-E.
      5. If none of the above work try this: Open the Terminal application in
your Utilities folder. At the prompt enter or paste the following:
            /usr/bin/drutil eject
If this fails then try this:
Boot the computer into Single-user Mode. At the prompt enter the same command as used above. To restart the computer enter "reboot" at the prompt without quotes.

  • Removing DVD/CD-RW drive from Satellite Pro A120

Can someone help me remove the DVD/CD-RW from this laptop??
I've already bent the bezel on the original drive which I'm trying to remove to replace with a DVD-RW drive.
I've removed the screw - (indicated by F6 on the case plastic - which seems to be the one & only one) & the drive wont budge. It seems slightly loose in the laptop casing but wont pull out. Is there another screw or a clip that I'm missing??
I'm been given a schematic by a support person that i got in touch with, but that's no help. I just don't want to yank to hard & break the excising drive & the laptop as well.
    Thanks.

  • Remove dvd from external cd drive.

I have an external cd drive for my new iMac and I can't get a dvd out of it. It is not recognizing that there is a dvd (maybe because it is a blu-ray dvd and it doesn't play them) in it and so will not eject it.

If you have an Apple USB superdrive, there is a page with instructions...
•Apple computer: Troubleshooting the slot-loading SuperDrive:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2801?viewlocale=en_US
"order to eject you can Control-click or right-click the disc icon and choose Eject
from the menu that appears. You can also drag the disc icon to the trash."
Hopefully this helps, if you have a USB Apple external superdrive.
    Good luck & happy computing!
