Manuf.part number at ROH and HALB material master.

Dear friends ,
I have doubt about field Manuf.part number at Material master.
Could I set field Optional to ROH material ?
We need to use it to HALB and ROH material but I never set this fields..
Could you help me?

Yes you can do that.
Goto OMSR tcode and enter MARA-MFRPN field name (after clicking on field name) than click on the Green yellow arrow at the right corner of the screen
will take you to the field selection data screen where you can set this field optional for ROH and HALB

Hi,
there is nothing like MM and PP Master. it is a one whole material master and different views maintained that of MM, FI, PP, SD, QM etc...
MRP details will be maintained by PP / MM consultant.
Theres is no major differences when you restrict urself to only material master.

How to transport number range group Configuration in Material Master

Hi,
I have this query regarding how to transport number range group in material master from one server to another.
Problem: There was no number range assignment done for a particular material type. So, i assigned the particular mat. type to a group which had some number range intervals with the help of T-Code MMNR.
But when i want to transport this config. to other sever, it is only transporting the interval but not the assignment done to that group. In the menu bar only Interval transport option is there.
Can anybody help me with this I hope the query is clear.

BAPI_MATERIAL_SAVEDATA - Create and Change Material Master Data

I want to delete a record an EAN record(MEAN table entry) available in addtitional data tab in Basic data in Material master.
I am making use of the BAPI BAPI_MATERIAL_SAVEDATA - to delete the record..
However I am not able to do the same ..,
Kindly guide me what all details needs to be passed,, to do the same ...
I cannot delete directly from MEAN table...

Pass the details in the table INTERNATIONALARTNOS of the BAPI.
Set the deletion indicator field DEL_FLAG to delete teh record.

Locking and locking material master fields

Hi Experts
I have a scenario where we need to lock material master field to be locked once data is maintained in the field so that its not editable for the users to change by the users, later the change should be possible for the field through an interface.
Any inputs on how to achieve this.

Im not sure how to get a direct solution for your scenario, but maybe you can use Authorization group to control who can access to this material instead?
Just a thought.

Dynabook C7 - Need part number for keyboard and touch pad

Hi there!
I have a few questions about my toshiba dynabook C7 laptop.
I want to change my old keyboard and touch pad as they do not work properly. The problem is that i can't find those parts because this model was delivered only for Japan market. So maybe somebody knows number of the models of those parts that might be suitable for my laptop? Or name of the laptop that is similar to my dynabook c7. The full model name is TOSHIBA DYNABOOK C7/212CMEN portege 4101 series

Hmmm... it can be pretty complicated. As you probably know it is not easy to get any info about those specific for Japan produced notebooks. I am pretty familiar with Toshiba notebook models and your notebook can be the same as Portege A100.
Google a little bit around and try to find info about Portege A100. I believe this notebook was offered in UK only.
Check also in Google - P000398500 G83C0001Q710 for Portege A100 series, Uk United kingdom keyboard.

Manufacturer part number to appear on when creating a request for quotation

my client want to be able to see the manufacturer part number already stored in the material master to appear on the request for quotation.

If you maintain MPN Material number in Source List and is available in Pur Req it will be automatically seen in RFQ.

this Manufacture part number also create master data like martial type   HERS, after this material assign to main material in MP01
but this martial is exciseble , in this case which material we maintain chapter id and excise details

The part number is at the end of PCI card slot 5. It will say "APPLE COMPUTER 820-nnnn 2002" (or 2003).
820-nnnn is the part number, it'll always be 820 in the first part, but the last 4 digits can be different depending on model and manufacture date. Typical values are 1308, 1440, 1445.
If you're planning to re-use your existing processors, the new board number should match exactly.
I say"If" because you may find a complete MDD or one sold without certain parts a lot easier than the exact model number board.

"Wrong" material number when using manufacturer part number

Hello gurus,
when I create a new material, first the system gives me a new material number according to the given number range of the material type, let's say 100000002. So far, so good.
But when I enter a manufacturer part number (e.g. 123456789) and press enter, the material number changes to 00000000000000000000000000000000100000002. And when I save the material master, the number is 123456789, allthough that number is not even allowed concerning the number range.
What's wrong here? Is this a bug or a feature? In my view the manufacturer part number should never overwrite our own material number!

What Material type you are Using for Creating Manufacturer Parts?? Its HERS and the Number Range for HERS Material type is Internal.
If you Want to Maintain externally then you have to Define new external no range and assign to HERS.
When you Select HERS you can see the Basic Text and Purchasing Views alone. In that You have to enter Desc of Mfg part and Input Original Material no.
Here is the Process for Manufacturer Part Profile :
Create External No ranges for Vendor Account Group MNFR and save.
Now Create Each Make / Manufacturer like ABB as one Vendor in XK01 Trxn code.
Create Material Code original say XXXX in MM01 with ROH material type. (for eg Transistor which is available with ABB & Seimens make)
Create material code for ABB make say 11with Material type HERS which contain only two views (Basic Data & Purchasing) and give Make, Original material No & Material group and other details and save.
Create material code for Seimens make say 12with Material type HERS which contain only two views (Basic Data & Purchasing) and give Make, Original material No & Material group and other details and save.
Create a Purchase order with original Material XXXX, then it will ask for mnfg part profile then select the material and click F4 on it it will show you the created mfg part nos like ABB 11 & seimes 12 and select one and save.
Prerequisite is you have to Activate Mfg part profile in OMPN trxn code
And in Material master Purchasing View Select the mfg part profile and save
Even if you set the Mfg part number in Display mode in SPRO settings system will throw the same error.
Now What can be done is :
Either go to ME21N and Select material tab after inputting and press f4 and select Manufacturer part number options then system will showe the list of mfg part number maintained to that material select the desired and save.
Else go to MM02 Purchasing View and in Mfg part Profile tab there must be a four charecter profile assigned to field Remove this and save.
The Second option is not a good practice.

Vendor part number to Sun part number mapping

I am getting vendor part number in prtfru and showfru outputs of Sun Fire V240 server. I am not getting Sun part number in those outputs. So is there any way to determine sun part no. from vendor part no.

The part is memory and this is a Sun Fire v240 server. I have checked prtfru outputs of several v240 machines but i was not able to get the sun part no. for memory in any of these machines. Find the below output from prtfru -x.

Error in number range when creating new material

Hi All,
We just recently changed the number range format of our material master. Earlier it was numerical and no it contains alphanumeric data.
To do the change, in the material type i selected the option "External Number Assignment w/o check".
Now i deselcted the option and tried to create a material with the old number range, it does not allow me to do so.It gives the error "Number 12345 not defined for Material Type".
What changes need to be done to allow numerical characters to be accepted?
