Return it as its faulty and get another.

Sorry, you can't. Design change with iOS 7.0. Tell Apple you don't like this here:

  • Bugs under the screen????

Hi, my Portege M400 laptop came with a manufacturing defect where the screen would separate from the lip of the plastic whenever I'd close it or flip it into tablet mode...But I'd only noticed it once little specs of dirt got underneath it, and I'd tried calling support for them to fix it but they said they wouldn't, keep in mind this was about three years ago, and now I open my laptop to find a little bug crawling under the screen! I'm pretty sure my warranty is out anyway but I accidentally squashed it against the LCD(or whatever type it is)...What should I do? Should I open the top and clean it out or what? I'm kind of worried that there's more somewhere under it, and this one's annoying, it's right on my Firefox URL box!
    Help??
NOTE: I don't have enough money for a new laptop!

zenny53: I've seen no mention yet of whether the same design has been used as the Micro.
Dust getting into the screen is not a function of sealing the screen. It will get in through air gaps e.g. where the buttons are. All I can suggest is keeping it in a good quality case, and away from dusty environments.
As for the headphone socket, technically you can only return the player when it's developed an actual fault. Is the sound reproduction actually effected?

  • Manufacturing defects on my iphone 5

    bought a new iphone 5...
notice a tiny micro metal finish is missing(improer diamond cut finish)...
there is a video on you tube which shows manufacturing defects of other devices thought it was fake but i also have a similar issue...
    will apple replace the product????

I am facing a similar problem here with a slight advantage. I am from New Delhi, India and so far I have rejected 6 iPhone 5's due to manufacturing defects. The first one was right at the store of the apple premium reseller. Since I opened the box there only therefore they had to replace it with a new one. The piece I got then had some hardware fault (WiFi connectivity issues with 2.4GHz WEP 2 encryption + huge battery drain). The service centre people have verfied the issue and have raised a service report. Till today I have rejected 5 iPhone 5's because they all had some or the other manufacturing defects (chips, scuffs, odd depth of the home button). This is very annoying because this could only mean one thing that apple is sending all its B grade products to India and reserving the perfect A grade units for US, UK, Europe, Australia etc (I am just guessing here).
Now here's the catch, I am in touch with someone in the service issue department at Apple Singapore directly which handles escalated tickets in Asia region and still I am getting no Apple grade high quality service (post Steve Jobs era perhaps?)
Advantage: I did not have to submit my iPhone to them (getting a replacement takes minimum 3 days) and since all these defected units are their fault so they have to keep sending in new units to the service centre (the courier to them comes under my name ) till I find a good unit.

  • THE screen is black but we can hear comments iPhone 5

THE screen of THE phone has turned black but we can hear THE phone give comments if we touch THE screen iPhone 5

    Hi there Robbe1999,
I sounds like you may have the Accessibility features Voice Over and Screen Curtain enabled. Try pressing the home button three times quickly to disable these features. If that doesn't work, you can also manage the accessibility features via iTunes. Take a look at the article below for more information.
    iOS: Configuring accessibility features
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5018
    Managing accessibility features using iTunes
Connect your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to any computer with iTunes installed.
    In iTunes, select your device.
From the Summary pane, click Configure Universal Access in the Options section at the bottom.
Select the feature you would like to use and click OK.

  • I have an iphone 4 and it has tiny spots on the screen that is brighter than the screen's brightness

    The title says it all!
is there a way to fix this problem?

Those are probably stuck pixels and if so are a defect in the screen. If that is indeed the case, it's not something a user can fix. Call Apple Support or make an appointment at an Apple Store and discuss theproblem with them.
    Regards.

  • 2011 27" iMac is dim on the RIGHT side of the screen

Just like the countless other people with the 2009 and 2011 27" iMacs, it seems the backlight is not functional on the right half of my screen.  All of the other posts I've searched for seem to point to the left side being the primary issue, mine is the right, in the same spectacular manner.  Wondering if anyone else has experienced this on the right side?  I attempted to apply pressure at the bottom LEFT of the screen and all over the border of the LCD to no avail.
I contacted apple support, they suggested I have it checked for the recall video issue with the apple store(certain video cards).  My i7 passed the tests for the video card, and i was quoted $510 to replace the screen.
The technician couldn't verify that the replacement LCD had been re-worked to avoid this issue in the future.  The technician was aware of the issue and indicated she's done 10+ of these repairs, and knew it to be a common issue.  She acknowledged this is a manufacturing defect, that the consumer could do nothing to avoid.  She checked with her manager, the manager said that I was out of luck, that I had my chance to purchase applecare, so no break on the replacement cost/repair.
If anyone has had the issue with the right side of the screen, is there another connector which may need pressure applied to that might resolve without replacing a $500 screen?

    Hi Dewey,
Are you trying to convert via Adobe Reader? If so, are you able to close and restart Reader (you may need to force quit, or use Task Manager to quit Reader if it's truly frozen)? After restarting, choose Help > Check for Updates to make sure that you have the most current version.
And, if updating Reader doesn't help (or you already have the most current version), please try converting that same file using the ExportPDF web interface at https://cloud.acrobat.com.
Please let us know how it goes.
    Thanks!

  • Is the replacement iPhone comes in box

I got new iPhone 4s from the reseller "jarir bookstore" however after 10 days some problem in the earpieces appear, I returned the device to them asking for replacement, put they refused and they insist to repair the divice which is not happened after 21 days in the maintenance. Ultimately they decided to give me a replacement since the problem was from the manufacturer. However, the replaced iPhone wasn't in any box and without the warranty card ! ! and they said this is the usual replacement from apple. But I don't think that the truth especially that defect comes from the manufacturer. Anybody can assist me in the said. Thanks

I've never seen an iPhone come with a "warranty card". Maybe it's different in your part of the world, but somehow, I doubt the "jarir bookstore" is an authorized source for the iPhone.

  • Does AppleCare cover manufacturing defects?

I recently got my new iPod touch 5th generation, and today I realized there was a dent in the bezel surrounding the screen. Will apple replace it?

Yes it covers manufacturing defect. However, the warranty includes this statement:
This Warranty does not apply: (a) to consumable parts, such as batteries or protective coatings that are designed to diminish over time, unless failure has occurred due to a defect in materials or workmanship; (b) to cosmetic damage, including but not limited to scratches, dents and broken plastic on ports; .....
    http://www.apple.com/legal/warranty/products/ipod-english.html
Therefore, Apple may not replace it.
I would make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store to find out.

  • ALERT!!!!   MANUFACTURER DEFECT IN HAVEN

I had the same issue with the VERIZON SAMSUNG HAVEN as a number of others and everyone at the Verizon store seems to act like this is an unusual problem. It's funny how in a separate blog VERIZON has deemed this problem SOLVED. It's not.
There is a manufacturer defect in the VERIZON SAMSUNG HAVEN. VERIZON should stand by their product and replace it with a new product of equal value.  There should be a product recall instead of inconveniencing customers with the replacement process and odd looks from store salesmen.
I paid out of pocket for my phone to avoid a 2 year activation contract.  I am going to move to another carrier since I am not satisfied with this display of poor equipment.
Last time I had this issue with the HAVEN, I had to send my phone in and wait a day until it was replaced.  As a business executive, a day without a phone is incomprehensible.
I now have the same issue again and will have to go through the same rigmarole and be out another day of business.  I can see why people in this country have to have a class action suit; it takes that to have anyone listen from a company like VERIZON.
If VERIZON listens hears this e-mail, I challenge you to post a reply like the following:
"Since many customers are having the same issue with the HAVEN, please return your product for a full replacment of a different device that does not carry this same defect.  If you are not satisfied with the devices offered at this grade level, we will credit you with the cost of the device and you can change your phone."
This is the type of service we should all expect from a corporation that wants our business. VERIZON?  You listening?

Thanks for the interest and I am not a bot.
The defect is that the HAVEN freezes when using the TEXT MESSAGING options.  On my HAVENS (I have replaced it twice and now need to do it a third time), both the INBOX and SENT box indicate that the mailbox is full and messages need to be deleted when infact the messages have been deleted and there are no messages in the boxes.  When you go to empty the box, the HAVEN freezes up and you have to remove the battery to restart the phone.  When this occurs with the SENT box function, you can still send messages (but you cannot read what you sent) and an error message appears each time you send a messge saying "Message SENTBOX is full delete old".  When the INBOX fucntion malfunctions, you can no longer receive text messages.
The reason I report this as a "manufacturer defect" is that in a separate post about the HAVEN entitled (PLeeeasssse help - or something like this), a VERIZON representative indicated that this is a manufacturer defect and that the new HAVEN will not have this issue.  The VERIZON representative also directs users with this problem to bring the HAVEN into the VERIZON store to have the error message wiped out.  Well, this is inconvenient to consumers. VERIZON apparently knew or should have known about this defect BEFORE it sold me the HAVEN for approximately 160.00USC including tax.  Selling a know defective product is incomprehensible.  Additionally, the solution that they have suggested is not acceptable for busy working adults.
I am not a VERIZON hater.  My family and I, have used the company for over 6 years.  Secondly, my company of more than 500 employees, uses VERIZON.
I would expect a company to stand by their product and recall defective devices, refund money, or replace the devices with something comparable in price value - not play lip service to customers who depend on cellular telephones for important personal and business reasons.

  • My mbp has a defect of the AR coating.  How has anyone else sorted this out

MY MacBook has developed horrible staining  because of a manufacturing defect in the AR coating. It is out of warranty. Has anyone got a cure for this!

Hello from  Dubai. I have the same issue in my Macbook Pro 15" Retina Late 2012. ARE Coating started to come off all of the sudden. Took it to authorized Apple service center, they kept my machine for a week came back & said Apple REFUSED to fix it hence we can't do anything. As per the service center they can't fix it unless Apple approve the repair and in my  case & so many others they are blaming the customers for Defective AR coating.

  • Ok i have a ipod touch 4g and it has very light scratchs near the camara and some on the screen its under wartany does it cover it if not how much whould it cost

    ?????

It's not covered under warranty as it's not a manufacturing defect.
The fixed-price for non-warranty repairs can be found here.  There have been some problems accessing pages on the Apple web site.  If the hyperlink gives you a "We're sorry" message, try again.

  • The screen of my IMac 27" seems to have lost some brightness from the bottom left corner ?

Anyone experimented this kind of problem ?

No, this is a sign of the screen defects. The screen will flicker, sometimes looks just fine, other times a dark area appears in the lower left quadrant. It may come and go. Having been through this myself I'm a bit familiar with the issue. There have been temporary fixes. But they all require disassembly. Doing so on your own voids any warranty. If you take it to an Apple shop for any future repairs, once they see you've been inside they will refuse to service the computer. This is not a problem resulting from loose screws. If you try to fix the problem yourself, then you are the one with the loose screws. I went down that path, and what was an expensive repair I tried to avoid became an even more expensive repair after Apple refused me service. And, that was when they still had a screen replacement program in place. Don't become a member of my club.
